We Are Legends. We stole fire. We placed the stars.
At night, we sing songs so old they pierce you to the bone.
We are coyotes.
Hidden in the deepest, most primeval evergreen forest in the Rocky Mountains are two packs of coyotes. They are large,
prosperous, and strict. And they are rivals.
The Pack of the Embers is the larger of the two Its inhabitants are larger and ruddier than their rivals, and they are more aggressive and diurnal. However, their pack is often fraught with tensions, for these coyotes are not good at keeping their aggression for their enemies....
The Pack of the Meteors is the smaller and more secretive. Its inhabitants are smaller, darker, and more nocturnal. Although they would lose in a melee with Embers, these coyotes know how to cooperate and use the element of surprise. But this secretive nature has bred a certain air of distrust within the territory...
They are fighting not over food or land, but over an ancient pool where, legend has it, their common ancestor was buried long,
long ago. It currently dwells within a sanctioned no-man's-land, but fights are frequent and bloody. They desire it because,
legend has it, those who drink from the pool without fear will be able to harness the power of creating life, just as their famed ancestor once did.
Each pack has a unique weapon in its repertoire. Embers has the Charred Trunk, where fire was first brought by the ancestor,
in its heartland. They can cause fire to spark beneath their paws and even set small fires. But it is taxing. Meteors has the Broken Arrow, the arrow that the ancestor used to climb the skies, buried in its outskirts to the far side. This allows them impeccable night vision and limited shadow-movement. But it is taxing.
Who will win the pool? Will one pack be eliminated, or will peace be reached?
