Ripple most certainly has uncertain loyalty, he was born and raised in the tribe and honestly, his anger with them is superficial. He's just a kid looking for someone to blame for the death of his parents.

Reposting this just in case

winx wrote:Think I’m gonna have both Dark and Snow mentor Lily so that way they can take shifts on watching her.

Here’s some thoughts I’m having for Ripple.

• As captain, Tempest has to decide how harshly to interrogate Ripple. Does he let the gunner or lieutenant take charge, or does he personally try to get the truth?
• If Ripple claims he wanted to help Lily but did not act quickly enough, some cats might sympathize, while others see it as a coward’s excuse. Snarl might push hard for exile or punishment, arguing that a true ally would have done something.
• The tribe will likely hold Ripple under guard while they decide his fate.
• Some might suggest giving Ripple a chance to prove himself through a test of loyalty—perhaps by giving him a task that would pit him against the rogues, a trial by combat, or some kind of dangerous task—if they’re interested in staying at least.
• If the rogues show no interest in retrieving Ripple, it could mean they see him as expendable or a liability. However, if Nyx demands his return, it suggests he still holds value to him—whether as an informant, a fighter, or for reasons unknown. The tribe could use this to their advantage, offering to trade Ripple for information, resources like prey or medical supplies, or even leverage the situation to force a meeting with Nyx. But if Ripple is truly a spy, Nyx might see him as compromised and choose to abandon him—or worse, send rogues to silence him. If the rogues come looking for him, Ripple might be forced to either fight alongside the tribe or reveal his true colors. Alternatively, if the tribe attempts to return Ripple to Nyx, this may leave the patrol open for an ambush.

What are y’all thinking?

I’m fine with them taking shifts.

-That first idea/thought definitely makes sense.
-I think Snarl pushing for exile or punishment works just fine (for Ripple).
-I mean…they definitely should keep Ripple under guard.
-Snow already decided Lily deserves a chance, so he’d probably say they should give Ripple a chance.
-I honestly want to have Nyx ask for his return. Alternatively…what if Nyx decided leaving them there was a good play because then Nyx would have both Lily and Ripple within the Tribe? He’d be able to have them both gain trust, and then try and fight the Tribe one day.

heresalittlefaith: ah, Kay, that makes sense.

Okay so now that I'm home and have the time to fully answer this, lemme do that.

winx wrote:Here’s some thoughts I’m having for Ripple.
• As captain, Tempest has to decide how harshly to interrogate Ripple. Does he let the gunner or lieutenant take charge, or does he personally try to get the truth?

- So given his younger age (10 moons) and his connection with the tribe, having left about 3 moons ago, I feel that would cause them to either go easier on him, OR go harder on him because he's a traitor to them. I think it could go either way and I'm all for it no matter what!

winx wrote:• If Ripple claims he wanted to help Lily but did not act quickly enough, some cats might sympathize, while others see it as a coward’s excuse. Snarl might push hard for exile or punishment, arguing that a true ally would have done something.

- I think this again might come down to his age and previous involvement with the tribe. They could feel his connection to them gives them a sense of loyalty to him or on the flip side his betrayal could lead them to punishment or exile. I think Ripple didn't know about the plot to attack Lily and in my mind he tried to help but he was grabbed by the scruff by one of the rogues before he could do anything because honestly I don't think the rogues WOULD trust him. He is still related to the tribe cats and they wouldn't quite know where his loyalties lie yet. So they'd stop him from intervening.

winx wrote:• The tribe will likely hold Ripple under guard while they decide his fate.

- Understandable, he is a traitor in their midst, who returned under bad pretenses. He didn't intend on getting caught but he also wouldn't leave Lily on her own. He has a sense of loyalty to her for her kindness to him.

winx wrote:• Some might suggest giving Ripple a chance to prove himself through a test of loyalty—perhaps by giving him a task that would pit him against the rogues, a trial by combat, or some kind of dangerous task—if they’re interested in staying at least.

- I think a test or trial of some kind would be very interesting for him, if he can be convinced some how to stay. Him and Leaf still have a rally rocky relationship, so it's going to hedge a bit on them reconciling and him realizing the tribe wasn't at fault for their parents' deaths. Like I said, he's a young cat who is trying to blame something, anything else for the pain he feels.

winx wrote:• If the rogues show no interest in retrieving Ripple, it could mean they see him as expendable or a liability. Alternatively, if the tribe attempts to return Ripple to Nyx, this may leave the patrol open for an ambush.

- I feel like this was almost a test from Nyx for him as well. Ripple came to them from the tribe, and as such he isn't very trusted in the rogue group. They don't know if he's a spy against THEM, but he is an asset to them as a cat who knows the tribe territory very well. He also knows the ins and outs of the tribe so for Nyx he may be seen as a really valuable asset or possibly as someone who needs to be silenced in case he starts spilling rogue secrets. It's kind of a mixed bag for him.

winx wrote:• If Ripple’s loyalty is still uncertain, would he try to break out? Or would the rogues attempt to rescue him, potentially forcing him to choose a side?

- Like I said Ripples loyalty either way is really uncertain. He blames the tribe for the deaths of his parents, he resents his sibling Leaf, and he feels like he doesn't belong there anymore. He's an angry kid who hates the world he grew up in out of spite, not out of actually being wrong by anyone. If pushed though, Ripple doesn't know what side he'd pick. Given more time with the tribe, seeing all he's been missing, he may lean more towards the tribe, but if their treatment of him and Lily are cruel he may be more loyal to the rogues. It can really go anyway at this current point!

----

I love the idea of double mentors, that way they can always have eyes on her! Snow and Dark also would get more chances to interact! Their both loyal cats to the tribe and I think they really reflect core beliefs of the tribe! Great teachers, but no ones who will let their guards down!

⚓ TOBP ⚓ • store pet competition!

Postby winx » Tue Apr 01, 2025 2:25 pm

ImageImageImageImage

Objective:
Write a one-shot using one of your characters, two of your characters interacting, or one of your characters interacting with another participant's character. For interactions between your character and another participant's, collaboration can be done through a thread, Discord, Google Doc, PMs, etc., as long as you can show the final product.

If you’re new to the roleplay or just want to enter the competition without joining, you can also write a one-shot based on the tribe’s lore, history, or your interpretation of the tribe, using the information provided here.

What is a One-Shot?
A one-shot is a short, standalone story focused on a single event, scene, or interaction. It’s meant to capture a key moment in your character’s life without requiring an ongoing plot—think of it as a snapshot highlighting your character(s).

Word Count:
The one-shot should be at least 500 words, allowing enough space for detailed character exploration without being overly long. There is no upper limit; I will gladly read everything you submit.

Open to New and Interested Users!
If you’re interested in the roleplay but haven’t joined yet, or you’re just curious about the competition, you’re welcome to enter! You can create a story based on the tribe’s history, how you imagine the tribe functions, or explore an element of the lore that intrigues you. This is a great opportunity to explore the world and characters before deciding whether or not you want to fully join the roleplay!

You can only enter once, choosing from one of the following categories:
  • Solo One-Shot: Write a one-shot featuring one of your characters.
  • Dual Character One-Shot: Write a one-shot with an interaction between two of your own characters.
  • Collaborative One-Shot: Work with another participant to create a one-shot featuring your character and theirs. Submit the finished collaboration once completed.
  • New/Non-Member One-Shot: Write a one-shot exploring the tribe’s lore, history, or your interpretation of the tribe, even if you haven’t joined the roleplay yet.

    Judging:
  • All entries that meet the guidelines by the end of the month will be entered into the competition for a random drawing. As long as your entry follows the rules and is submitted by the deadline, you will have a chance to win! This ensures everyone has an equal opportunity, no matter the writing experience or background.
  • One entry per participant: You can only submit a one-shot for one of the categories.
  • Deadline: All submissions must be entered by the end of the month (30 April at rollover) to be eligible for the competition.
  • Winners will be randomly drawn and announced at the beginning of the following month (3 May to allow time for reading entries).

Just fill out the form below if you’re interested!

They can have whatever is considered a “natural” amount of kits. A google search says: On average, a cat can have 4 to 6 kittens per litter, but litters can range from as few as 1 to as many as 12, with factors like the cat's age, breed, health, and whether she's a first-time mother influencing litter size.

Any kits not claimed by a roleplayer can still be interacted with in the story; they just can’t be directly controlled as they would be with a roleplayer. Like, say you roleplay kit A, you can have your kit interact with NPC kit B in playing, going on an adventure, etc. but you should be roleplaying from Kit A’s perspective if that makes sense.

Really love all the ideas I’m seeing for Ripple! I’m excited to see what Nyx does too hehe.

Impatiently waiting to see the interaction with Ripple, Leaf, and Whisper oop

@Spirit — I can create a 1x1 tomorrow if you still want to enter the raffle

I don’t think I’m going to be able to enter the raffle, if the 500 words is per character.
Is it supposed to be 500 words per character, or for the interaction as a whole?

I still want to do a one x one, but I guess we could just do their interactions through the RP instead.

It’s 500 words as a whole, so we’d definitely get there quickly with us both posting I think (:

edit: I’m verifying with our trustee roleplay mods if the raffle is okay to stay where it is. I may need to decrease the length requirement if it’s pushing towards “art competition” vs. “free adoption” category if that makes sense. But for now the 500 seems (?) reasonable with a month and should encourage finding a partner to make it easier/faster!
