╒════════════════════════════════╕
xxxxxxxxxxxx Traits
physical: Beck (when not changing it) has wavy
black hair, usually messy in an artful way. He has
gray eyes, and is very pale. Beck is skinny
but tall, around 5'11.

skills: Beck is talented with physical alteration,
like the other Aphrodite children, and uses
Charmspeak effortlessly, and usually accidentally.
He sets most people he meets at ease. When fighting,
he prefers to be a stealth archer

personality: Beck enjoys having a good time,
and being around lots of people. He hates
awkward silences, and will usually break
them with a joke or by putting his foot
in his mouth (metaphorically obviously.)
He can crack a joke almost anytime, and
is unashamedly kind of a himbo.
Despite being loud and brash, he is
deeply sensitive. He has a hard time
reading and has an iPod dedicated to
audiobooks and podcasts.

other: has a golden retriever named maggie

╘════════════════════════════════╛
xxxxxxxxxxx history: Beck was born in a small coastal town in Maine, to a professor of archaeology. He stayed in Maine until he was thirteen, when Aphrodite had his father bring him to Camp Halfblood. He had a super normal childhood, running wild on the rocks and tide pools, surfing, and just living the bets life he could have. Beck and his father are still close, and he visits each holiday. He and Aphrodite aren't super close, but she still reaches out when necessary.

» luck is blind

Postby rabbit_with_a_fedora » Thu Aug 05, 2021 8:13 pm

────────────────────────────────
» Appearance: Tomás stands at an even
height, and has a rather average physique. His skin is
a pale caramel, with an olive tint, and Tomás’s dark
brown hair curls at his shoulders. Something prominent
is the milky and cloudy film over his amber eyes, a sign
of his blindness, from birth.
────────────────────────────────
“Excuse me.. Am I in the right room?”
────────────────────────────────
» Accessories/weapons: While he seems
to shy away from any violence, Tomás does still manage
to wield a small copper dagger, which he rarely uses.
More prominently, he has a light brown leather watch
that he always wears, even though he isn’t able to use
it. A gift from his sister, the steady ticking of the watch
against Tomás’s wrist is calming, which is why he never
takes it off, if he can help it. He also wears a necklace
of a small golden cross, usually hidden under his collar.
────────────────────────────────
“I’m probably just terribly lucky sometimes..”
────────────────────────────────
» Powers/abilities: tychokinesis, the
ability to manipulate luck. Tomás can slightly increase
the fortune or misfortune of others in a certain radius,
including himself. He also has heightened senses, as a
result of living with his blindness.
┌──────────────────┐

» -Tomás 'Thomas' Da Costa (Tomás preferred)-
» -Son of Tyche, cabin 19; claimed-
» -Cisgender male, panromantic asexual (oblivious)-
» -He/him, they/them-
» -174 cm, 5'8"-
» -around 17 years, 27/10-
» -Portuguese-American; Seattle, WA-
» -5 beads-

└──────────────────┘

─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
» In-depth personality: Often nervous and self-doubting,
Tomás can her flustered and start rambling rather easily,
frequently ending up in an embarrassed mess. He makes
up for his uncertainties with attempts at shy humour,
and actually tends to be a nice companion when he
starts to loosen up around others. During dire times,
he tries to help but tends to stumble and usually gets
in the way, to his dismay. That was not meant to rhyme.
That doesn’t stop him, though, and the need to prove
himself to others typically makes him reckless and
impulsive at times. This is his notable fatal flaw, caring
too much over proving his worth and his need for fitting
into the expectations of others. Many things he does are
to please the ones around him, which can lead to some
unfortunate consequences.
» In-depth personality: A soft spoken individual, Tomás
is often shy and cautious, yet also thoughtful and
introspective, preferring to observe a scene before
stepping in. Often fading to the background, he gets
lost in his own daydreaming and thoughts at times,
and is usually perceived as absentminded and shallow
by those who don’t know him well. He is rather timid
and jumpy, and can be overly sensitive at times. A bit
clueless and hesitant, Tomás tries to be confident,
but eventually ends up returning to being nervous all
the time. Of course, his being blind isn’t too much of
an issue in day-to-day life (in combat is another matter),
and Tomás can be relatively independent in getting
around places he is familiar with on his own.

─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
“You know, I sometimes like to think that my mom’s watching me from Olympus, helping me along the way.”
─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
» Backstory: Having no previous knowledge that he
had any immortal blood, or that Greek gods did in
fact exist, Tomás was reasonably confused and
apprehensive about the entire camp situation. He
managed to adjust after a few months, though had
quite the internal dilemma of how the existence
of Greek deities would affect his entire Roman
Catholic worldview (I’m not going into the religious
details, since CS rules and stuff yknow) for a bit.
Tomás was claimed two days after arriving at camp,
though didn’t realize the glowing symbol above his
head for a solid ten minutes. And so, to this day,
he’s basically existing in the Tyche cabin. Yay.
» Backstory: Born and raised in the heart of downtown Seattle,
Tomás led a normal enough life for the first part of his childhood,
well, at least as normal as being blind could be. His family first
immigrated to North America in the 1870s, landing in Halifax,
Nova Scotia, in search of opportunities in the whaling industry.
Over the years, Tomás’s great-grandfather moved to Seattle for
education, and so the American branch of his family began.
Having been raised in a middle-class, single-parent household,
with his father frequently leaving him and his stepsister alone for
work (and gambling sprees, more details in relations), Tomás
learned to be independent at a young age, though his idea of
independent was much less confident and involved much more
fading into the decor. His satyr at school, on the other hand,
wasn’t fooled by his attempts. After an incident with a sphinx (in
the seventh grade), Tomás was suddenly swept off to Camp Half-Blood.

─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
» Relations:
» Ulisses Da Costa (father) - Tomás and his father have quite a complicated relationship. During the early years of his life, Tomás remembered his father to be a kindhearted and exuberant man, though those memories have since been reduced to shadows on a wall. In most recent years, after (though Tomás only realized this later) Ulisses asked Tyche for a blessing she could not grant - something related to the lottery, as the family was going through a rough economic time - , his father had become more and more busy with work at the office, and basically neglected his children. Ulisses became more sour and irritable over time, finding fault with everything Tomás and his stepsister did (though never reacted violently), and eventually turned to gambling and betting to try to sustain his household, which was when Tyche slowly left Ulisses’s life, taking his emotional stability along with her. Tomás and his older sister were left to themselves most of the time, a period of his life where he constantly tried to please his father, to no avail, which has left a rather empty hole in Tomás’s conscious.

» Maria Da Costa (stepsister) - Although born to different mothers, the two siblings have always been close. Maria took it upon herself to look after Tomás before Camp Half-Blood, and was actually aware of the fact that he was a demigod before even Tomás himself found out. She never held anything against Tomás for his immortal blood, and has always been a pillar of reason and safety in Tomás’s life.

» but do you really know me?

Postby rabbit_with_a_fedora » Sun Aug 08, 2021 5:37 pm

───────────────────────────────────
» Appearance: Jacques stands at an
impressive 197 centimeters, rather lean and imposing.
His height would be intimidating if his entire demeanour
weren't the opposite. Though his skin is pale, and his
perfectly combed hair is a frosty white, Jacques' eyes
are an unusually warm honey-like amber; a rich golden
colour with sprinkles of chocolate blended in the mix.
Mesmerizing, to say the least.
────────────────────────────────────
“Jacques de Laverre, pleasure to meet you.”
────────────────────────────────────
» Accessories/weapons: His weapon of
choice is concealed as a golden earring that coils around
his right ear, in the shape of a serpentine dragon. Hanging
from it is a pendant of amber, which, with a thought,
transforms into an imperial gold sword. Curved slightly
and embedded with silver embellishments, it radiates
everything but ice and snow and winds.
────────────────────────────────────
“Oh, it’s Jacques with a ‘qu’ and an ‘s’, not a ‘k’.”
────────────────────────────────────
» Powers/abilities: Aerokinesis: Jacques
has the ability to create, control and manipulate the air
and wind in a variety of offensive or defensive ways,
which has also lead to him being presumed to be a son
of Zeus. Cryokinesis: the ability to control and manipulate
frost, ice, snow, and cold temperatures in general, though
Jacques hasn’t yet exactly discovered this ability. Jacques
also has the uncanny quirk of creating small bubbles of
winter climate when he’s angered or excited, which is rare.
┌──────────────────┐

» -Jacques de Laverre-
» -Son of Boreas, cabin 11; unclaimed (forgotten lmao)-
» -Cisgender male, aromantic asexual-
» -He/him, they/them-
» -197 cm-
» -around 19 years, 19/12-
» -French-Canadian; Saint-Jérôme, QC-
» -9 beads-

└──────────────────┘

───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
» In-depth personality: On a daily basis, he makes sure both his
appearance and are impeccable. This alone wouldn't be too
damaging, but Jacques has actually managed to carve out a
reputation of being trustworthy, dependable, and a decent person,
which has even more encouraged his quite harmful mindset.
Jacques is, on the inside, incredibly insecure and honestly in a
constantly anxious state. He spends most of his time trying to
think of the best things to say and do, and the rest of it worrying
what those around him think of him. To say the least, Jacques
frequently seems to be a normal camper, yet, when people
actually think about it, almost no one knows anything about him.
His presence is that of a stagnant side character, always existing
but incredibly superficial and, in a sense, mysterious. Oh, and,
I almost forgot- Jacques is quite gullible, and desperately
seeks approval and praise from those he thinks are important,
so could easily be manipulated into blindly agreeing with and
supporting someone proficient enough in the trade.

» In-depth personality: Jacques, at first glance, seems to be
your average, perfect tall guy. Responsible, witty, and pretty
darn dashing, plus an exotic accent and name, Jaques, to most, is
the equivalent of superficial. Since he doesn't ever mention his
backstory nowadays, people assume he doesn't have one. All he is
in the grand scheme of things is the Prince Charming of the story.
Butit's really all lies. His entire childhood, Jacques has learned
one lesson that he lives by- good behaviour equals good
treatment. If he acted like the sadistic, cunning crimelord his
mother wanted him to be, Jacques would be loved. If he didn't,
then he wouldn't. Simple. As a result of this mindset, Jacques is
quite cynical whenever someone is kind to him, though always
hides his true thoughts behind a mask of whatever he believed
the other party needed and wanted from him. His appearance to
others is what matters most to him, and Jacques desperately tries
to please those around him.

───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
“Hey, dad, whoever you are? Please, like, remember that I exist. The Hermes cabin is getting rather tiresome.”
───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
» Backstory: An unofficial custody fight later,
interrupted by the same manticore, ended with Jacques being
whisked across the St Lawrence and into camp Half-Blood. At
camp, Jacques immediately changed from his previously cold
and ruthless persona to his, well, 'usual self',though of course
with many tweakings. Everyone believed he would definitely
be a son of Apollo or Zeus, as Jacques' trademark style is gold,
amber and white, but he has hitherto never been claimed.
Boreas completely forgot his kid existed. Residing in the
Hermes cabin for 9 whole years, Jacques has still managed to
establish himself as 'slightly cooler than the average camper
but not too annoying’, and has gained the trust of most other
campers. But that’s going to change quite a bit in the near
future, I believe..

» Backstory: Born from a rather vile family, Jacques' mother, Livia,
was the sister of an infamous crime lord, based in the infamous
Saint-Jérôme. Apparently Boreas thought that someone who
dealt with illegal trade was incredibly hot (that physically
hurt me to type), and so Jacques came to be. Born out of wedlock,
to an unknown father, and to a very illegal woman, Jacques'
reputation was blemished from the start. For the first years of his
life, Jacques was raised by his mother and uncle, with Boreas never
visiting, all of whom didn't understand the concept of unconditional
love. It was only after an incident at school with a manticore, when
Jacques was 10, that his school's satyr, who he barely knew,
announced that Jacques was to be brought to camp.

───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
» Relations:
» Boreas/the North Wind (father) - To this day, Jacques still has no idea who his father is. He’s fairly certain it’s Apollo, but none of the gods have claimed him, even after almost a decade. Woohoo.

» Livia de Laverre (mother) - Jacques and his mother had a rather confusing relationship, and he isn’t entirely sure what to feel about her. At first, she was harsh and cruel, but after he figured out that pleasing her would make their relations warmer (irony intended), Livia started being much nicer, and acted like what Jacques believed a good mother would act like. He previously believed that she did truly love him, until witnessing the few family moments of the other campers, where Jacques realized that Livia was quite a terrible person, and that he’d previously been completely blind to how wrong all the illegal smuggling and dealership his family was so enthralled in.
