I thought Beta, but Crow can be a fighter instead if needed

You don't train to be beta...
Usually, the way it goes, is that the Alpha picks the beta, whatever that particular Alphas criteria are means who gets to be beta can change. Though sometimes in rp an alpha will inherit a beta.

So yes, Crow would technically be training to be a fighter or a hunter but could end up gaining the rank of beta sometime after he's fully grown and has proved himself in the eyes of his alpha.
