History.
Cupid had the perfect life waiting for him as his mother and the human who bred her took good care of him. He grew up socialized with many animals and dogs. He played, explored, slept. All the things a normal puppy should do. Time seemed to fly by as his time came to be adopted. "
Thank you, Mrs Johnson. I assure you I'll take great care of this little guy.
"" The words held no meaning for the dog, but they meant plenty to how his life would change. He took to his new home quite well. Having been introduced to many animals he got along well with his new owner's cat, parrot, and 3 ferrets. He grew a strong bond with his new human almost instantly. Long walks, park play dates, all the toys and treats a dog could want. He had it made. A typical walk took a life-changing turn. The pair trotted towards the local bank. Cupid wagged his tail as his master gave him a quick pat on the head before tying him to a post outside. "
I'll be back. Be a good boy." With that his best friend had left him. It was normal. This had happened many times. They always reunited at the end. He wagged his tail softly as he people-watched. His ears perked up as the man he'd watched go into the bank began shouting. Humans sure were loud.. Suddenly screams where heard, then an alarm. His tail tucked so hard it could've fused to his bottom. His ears pressed against his skull so hard they could very well have torn. The door flies open and a panicked lady bolts out. She trips over his leash as she does so. Falling hard on the sidewalk. Normally cupid would've cheered her up with some encouraging licks to the face. However now, he was petrified. Humans never explained what was going on in a language he could understand. A LOUD bang sounds from inside the bank. Causing cupid to run. His leash having been loosened by the lady enabling him to escape. He had no ability to reason. His only instinct was to
run. Run like the wind. He made it about half a mile before the instinct died down. Only then had he realized he left his human behind. He lets out a soft, long whine. He decided he needed to go back. He crosses the road just as a police car speeds by just inches from him. This day was so scary.. His heart raced at the thought of never seeing his amazing and kind human.. He came to the bank. Squeezing through the barriers. There was that shouting again. He doesn't see his human. There's so many confusing smells.. Another bang causes him to back off. What the heck?! What's going on. He decides to head back home. After a long journey filled with wrong turns, he makes it. Maisy, the cat, is sitting in the window looking down at him with her almond shaped eyes. There was no lingering scent of his master in the air. He takes a seat by the front door and lays down. He waits.. Waits more, and waits again. It seems the worst had happened.. What
exactly happened, that was another story he knew not. Regardless.. he was alone.
