Vanessa grew up as a human in
the human world. She was raised by her mother,
who wasn't a werewolf. Her father was a werewolf, and
he is dead. Vanessa always had the ability to turn into
a werewolf, but she never confided in anyone about it,
and kept it a secret her entire life. It wasn't until
she was 18 that her mother had the guts to break
the truth to Vanessa, that she was a werewolf.
Vanessa, shocked and upset, ran away. She went
to her grandparents, who happened to be werewolves
themselves. They taught her everything she needed to
know about werewolves.
