meet explorer, rapunzel. she has been shut out from the world for so long, but no one can keep this curious girl from painting her own world and adding vibrant colors to the existing one. don't be fooled, she can fight for herself quite well, though, many doubt her skills. she's a real thinker who sees things at a different angle rather than rushing right through. at times, rapunzel can be quite naive, but what could one expect from such a sweet and compassionate person who has been locked away for so long? being strong-willed, if she says she is going to accomplish something or keep a promise, you can bet all your hair she will. being locked up in a tower has it's pros; she loves to paint (any art, in fact), read, and cook. despite only seeing her selfish and evil captor, her so-called "mother", she loves people and is very friendly. her enthusiam can be very contagious and she often inspires others to explore nature's wonders. she isn't a troublemaker, really, but being very trusting of others and very curious, mishaps seem to follow.

"a pleasure to meet you, my friend." my name is "a morning songbird wish". a mouthful, i know, but my mother had her reasons. i was born on an early sunday morning, april 5th, to be exact. when i was born that morning, my mother's wish to have a daughter came true (i was one out of six pups, but my one sister died shortly after birth and i have four brothers). at that moment, my mother saw a songbird flutter down to a branch in the next tree and she said it sang a lovely song. and so my name became "a morning songbird wish". but you may call me "morning", "songbird", or "wish", whichever one best suits your cup of tea. yes, indeed, i have a french accent; i am french and i am fluent in that language. but i speak english, i may stumble upon a word in which i have no english translation for though, my apologies.

"i love to leap and run. if i were a human, i would want to dance." many say i have a slender and graceful appearance. i accept that. as you can probably see, i am slender and thin, if you may. but that is how i was born and how i shall stay. i may not look like much of a fighter in combat, which i try to avoid, but i am agile. i can dodge, leap, run, and sprint; catch me if you can. i am good at balancing, i found this out when i was just a pup. i must admit i gave my mother a few unintentional heart attacks when i practiced my balancing acts.

"i tend to use those "uknown" words of your english language." words are one of my favorite things. oh, the poems, songs, and novels i would write! strange for a dog like me? unheard of even? well, i say that the pen is defintely mightier than the sword. after all, how do wars begin? by someone speaking against someone. your words can either encourage and inspire someone or condescend and discourage someone. i choose to speak eloquently as possible, but i may slip into french when i am feeling extremely emotional. another favorite thing of mine is the shifting hours from night to day. for example, i love dawn and sunset; the splendor of colors flashing across the sky like an artist's paintbrush. at night, i can think and gaze at the sky with a "longing look in my eyes", as my friends say. i like to be alone a lot, which i know is not entirely good. but when i gaze at those stars, those great, sparkling lights, i drift into this realm inbetween the dimensions, far away and dreaming of the impossible. i long for that place, that phenomenal place, where worlds collide and i see the silver lining and the constellations dance.

meet miss saffron elizabeth redwood. an elegant name, don't you think? slightly ironic as well with "redwood" as her last name because she does live in district seven where there are some redwood trees. her family and friends call her "saff". she is named after the saffron flower in which "saffron" is extracted from the stigma of the plant itself to be made into a spice. saffron is used in foods all around the world and in medicine. as you would expect, the saffron flower is saff's favorite flower. born and raised in the forest life of district seven, saffron has learned several valuable survival tips. but before she was choosen as the girl tribute of district seven, she would have never called them "survival" tips. she, like many district seven people, knows how to swing and throw an axe like a boss. that doesn't mean she wants to use it on a person...necessarily, at least. she rather use a bow and arrow or a knife. she is pretty good with a bow and knives, her hand-eye coordination helps a lot with the aiming. she isn't afraid to fight, especially with her hands on some throwing knives or a bow with some arrows. she's quite strong-willed with a defiant soul and stubbon personality. saffron knows "freedom" isn't a word in panem, but she does her best to show she's not some weakling or someone to be manipulated so easily. now, saff doesn't like to be ordered around very much, she's gotten in trouble various times before. but she can't do much against the peacekeepers. it'll endanger her family too, and she loves her family too much to do anything (too) rash. being quite stubborn and tough, saffron does her best to annoy the usual peacekeepers (she knows some have learned to tolerate her, others she avoids). she's seen what the gamemakers can do live and she won't admit it, but she's a little afraid of what will happen to her. she's seen a cousin, a brother, and two of her close friends die. not all to other tributes. saffron is more afraid of mutts than tributes. she's only sour and a little cold sometimes because she's been scarred for life (her brother and her friends' deaths hurt her hard).
