▸ prophecy - as the current host for the Oracle of Delphi, Cain has the ability to speak the prophecies of Apollo. these prophecies speak on the destinies of others are often come in riddles, and Cain can never entirely remember all of what he's said during these possessions. a smaller version of this comes in the form of visions, both of the future and, more rarely, the past. unlike past oracles, his visions can sometimes coincide with the speaking of a major prophecy, but other times they come on their own. Cain describes the experiences as "waking dreams" and he's taken to recording them in paintings so he doesn't forget what he's seen.
▸ clear sight - unlike most mortals, even demigods, Cain is completely unaffected by the Mist and its illusions. monsters, weapons, trophies, and even gods are clear as day in his eyes.
▸ practiced painter - Cain has been painting since he was young, as it gave him an outlet to express himself in a way that people accepted. although people could never see what he saw, his paintings gave others a glimpse into the world through his eyes. these skills were already honed by the time he became the Oracle, and the resulting visions only gave him an additional use for his paintings.
▸ con artist - once he began to realize he saw the world differently from everyone else, Cain stopped trying to convince the rest of the world of his truth and played along, developing an incredible sense of truth or lie, sleight of hand, and bluffing skills to rival the Hermes cabin.

Personality
For the most part, Cain lives his life in a constant state of limbo. He feels both vastly important and entirely useless, and as a result, it's difficult for him to find the motivation to do things for himself. He's more prone to do things for other people, to gain a sense of recognition for his actions. Thank yous and return customers give Cain the illusion that his life has a bit more purpose than simply getting possessed by an ancient spirit on occasion. He's quite lackadaisical in most instances, which most people mistake for laziness or apathy. It takes a lot for Cain to become invested in something, and therefore, he rarely makes close friends or finds a strong passion for hobbies. Usually, the extent of his interaction with others is serving as a middleman in exchange for praise.
Likes: painting, listening to music, praise (especially when it's unprompted)
Dislikes: sudden noises (specifically loud ones), most monsters, taking medication
Fears: resulting from his coma, Cain is afraid of hospitals and by extension the infirmary, but not doctors or caregivers. he is also morbidly afraid of dying and death in general, which has led to a mild and irrational fear of the Hades campers. this fear doesn't mesh well with his precognition.

Background:
As a child, Cain was known as "the boy who cried wolf." He was teased about monsters under the bed or in the closet all throughout grade school, and he struggled to break the "gullible" stereotype people knew him for. His parents pressured him to succeed, and when he didn't grow out of what they believed were childish phobias and fairytales, Cain was taken to a specialist. His lethargy and introverted tendencies combined with his whimsical hallucinations were dubbed as the early onset of schizophrenia, and his family was sent down the rabbit hole of searching for a cure. They tried a few different antipsychotics, but it soon became clear Cain needed something stronger. They were equally careful and rigorous about his routine, keeping the risks of clozapine in mind while making sure he took his daily doses. Eventually, their attempts escalated to moving to a quieter place in America, hoping that a change of scenery would help with his condition. Their property in Cyprus was reserved for a summer home, and Cain spent the remainder of his childhood in Morgantown, Pennsylvania. Things were normal, and you could say that he really began to improve. Three years later, however, something sparked the return of his hallucinations. This time, his schizophrenia was more focused and with it came an intense, irrational paranoia. His unrelenting episode persisted for months until he landed in the hospital, and it was there Cain received his first vision while in a coma. Perhaps it was his destiny calling out to him, but by the time he was eighteen, he found his way to Camp Half-Blood and became the camp's Oracle. It was a bit of a culture shock at first, but Cain can't say that his role as a host for the Oracle of Delphi is all bad; he's rather comforted by the fact that he isn't schizophrenic, and while his parents don't entirely understand his reasoning for moving on his own to New York, they're happy that whatever he's doing now is helping him cope with his condition.
