With the first idea, I feel like there are ways we could play that up a bit. Ex. Rolan still, to an extent, doubts the nature of Akira and Lucas's relationship. So, he decides to inquire about it before making his final decision on the matter. After learning that everything Esmerelda has said was true, decides to go through with it then and there. Perhaps then Akira attempts to call for Lucas, but he doesn't get there until its too late. Alternatively, perhaps Rigel gets there before Lucas.
If we wanted to take this a step further, it could be done very sneakily. Ex. Maybe Roland slips the contents of the vile into a tea or the like.
The second idea has more dramatic flair just between Lucas and Akira, while furthering Orion's role as the villain. The only difficulty here is figuring out where/when this would happen, and why Akira would be carrying the vile on her. Currently she keeps it hidden, but not on her person, and has her own doutbs about her willingness to turn if the situation ever arose.
Good questions to consider would be A- Regardless of the 'how', when should these events take place. And B- Which variation of character dynamic shifts would you feel is more interesting to you? The resulting tension between Lucas and His father, as well as Akira, or furthering the hatred between Lucas and Orion?
We could do a combo.....
A- Up to you. How soon you think we should do this? I'm iffy at the Ball.
B-If we combo it then all the above.
