guys, i read amara's post and this popped into my head... is there some sort of common tongue that they all speak or do speak english? because since earth is the lowest on the totem pole i don't think they'd all know english. domitian's language could be the "english" of all the languages? everyone must speak it and stuff. it would be way cool if solace could speak novarian to gaia and no-one would understand them....

maybe they can all speak at least two languages; the language of their planet and then the lesser language of Domitian which is English.

that actually crossed my mind too. I think that idea makes sense; everybody
speaks their native tongue but must also be trained in the domitian language.

very good point, I didn't want to touch it to make things confusing, but if you guys are up for it then let's go for it c:

maybe english can be the main language because amara's dad had a lot to do with the colonization of domitian as a planet, so it was just easier to stick to english? now english is kind of like military code, sort of like the morse code of the galaxy, so it was necessary for the heirs to learn the language early?

oh, and when characters are speaking a different language, maybe we can do this:
"<blah words here blah.>" like just use the " " & <> as proper speech punctuation when others are speaking alien languages?

i'd say everyone has to at least be able to understand/speak a bit of english. for example; i live in the czech republic, but the two main languages they teach us in school is english and czech, so we can communicate in other countries? so even the lower class must know some english? idek if i make any sense. so everyone would know english + their native language....
