Well, they can communicate through a sort of telepathy with each other and animals in both their Howler and animal forms, so I suppose that it's make sense that they could communicate with humans the same way.
When they shift, i think that their clothes and anything on their bodies will shift with them. Like if a character has piercings, they will most likely have them on both human and Howler forms. But, I am more than willing to hear opinions on this! I like Perfect's suggestion though.
