BACKGROUND boone is an only child who was raised by a single father, more or less
- his father is a very serious man whose priorities are and were with anything but
boone, all but absent in his life. --his father never once attended any of boone's
minor or major life events - first day of school, prom, graduation, and all 25 of his
birthdays included in the many disappointing days without family around - and in
place of raising his one and only kid himself, hired a nanny to watch over him. and
even that was like pulling teeth to the relatively wealthy man, who was happy to
send her away as soon as boone was capable of fending for himself, if only to save
