tetsuo is unapologetic, loud, confident and short-tempered. he has a limited amount of patience set aside to deal with nonsense, and is prone to snapping at people who expend his goodwill - and worse from there, if they don't get on with it fast. has a flash-fire type of temper. it blows up easily, but he also hardly ever holds grudges once he gets it out of his system and whatever offended his sensibilities is dealt with. he's not a sore loser, and if he loses the argument or the bet or whatever, he concedes defeat easily and moves on. on the other hand, if something actually ruffles his feathers, he needs to get the upper hand before he's able to let it go.

he's usually more easily able to acknowledge when something's not worth getting upset over, but since the curse his already short fuse has been getting shorter and shorter. hates getting turned into an animal and wants nothing to do with it. further, the concept that, to a tiger shark, anything might be food led him to the upsetting discovery that fresh blood smells really, really good to him. constantly tempted to take a bite out of anything moving in front of him, and feeling horrified with himself as a result. wants nothing more than to find the mermaid and make her take the curse back, or else.

likes challenging himself, in as many ways as possible. academically, he's a good student, recently having graduated in mathematics with a minor in computer science. in sports, he's always ready to join the game and gets very invested very fast. almost always will take a bet if offered to him. enjoys arguing for the sake of arguing, sometimes taking whichever point is opposite to what the other person is defending just to get into it. he will die on any hill. will defend his friends at the drop of a hat against anyone who slights them. has high standards both for himself and others, and gets frustrated when things fall shorter than the perfection he feels that he should be striving for. born and raised in sakura beach, he's left town to go to college and only recently moved back.

he's rather short, standing at 5'7", with wide swimmer's shoulders and an athletic physique. blue eyes. has a full beard. his hair is long and dyed platinum blonde. it's been a while since he last dyed it, leading to faded colors and his dark roots showing quite visibly. annoyingly, he can't touch them up while cursed, since trying to rinse would just turn him into a shark. has many piercings, including on the septum, bridge, tongue, navel and ears. turrns into a large tiger shark, with ochre colored hide marked with brown stripes.

✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧ despite his relatively short tenure in sakura, ren has already made quite the name
for himself. he'd be lying if he said he didn't enjoy the notoriety, but if asked directly, he'll tell you the money is what
makes it worth it. neither of those things are dishonest-- he does also enjoy the money. making residence in sakura
a few years back took a lot of moxie. he visited the beach-town with some friends, and something about the ocean
and cherry blossom combo pulled him in; like the tide that pulled the sand out from beneath his feet when he
stood gazing seaward and decided once and for all that he would make the move.

the moxie part comes in play when you weigh out a guy like ren. he did not grow up poor, but he didn't grow up rich
either. and if ren was going to live in sakura, he was going to live in a place with an ocean view- right near the
boardwalk. as you can imagine a place like that ain't cheap. perhaps it was the motivation to afford his seaside place
that powered the charm that drew customers in -- and kept them coming back.

though ren is too collected to make public notice of his fame- always the humble server-
(he is no fool, he is well aware that his tactic is also what adds to the charm) there is one customer that has
charmed him. it is only a matter of days before he breaks his rule against mixing work and pleasure.
