Personality:
- Fishbone seems intimidating at first glance, as she tries to present herself as cool and aloof, and can usually be found targeting missions on the harder side.

- If you befriend her - which isn't too difficult, as she easily gets attached to those who give her positive attention - she can't hold on to the façade for long, and she'll be quick to overshare. It becomes clear that Fishbone is a sweet and honest pokemon, if a little intense. She prefers her social environment to be clear, so she doesn't hesitate to ask personal questions or speak freely about her own insecurities, as long as there's a certain level of trust.

- Fishbone's dedication is admirable. If the matter at hand is important to her, you bet she'll give her 100% and some more. She tends to overdo it sometimes, showing her affection for others through grand gestures and sometimes unnecessary sacrifices. Unfortunately, she doesn't have much regard for her own safety.

- She's a bit desperate for approval. She doesn't deal with rejection well at all, but at the same time struggles to believe that others want her around.

History:
IM SORRY THIS GOT SO LONG!! i got too excited creating this character and just wanted to dump her info somewhere so here you go.
TLDR: she joined the guild because travelling for years with an unrequited crush and feeling unwelcome didn't work out for her.

- Fishbone's birth name was Lazuli. Her childhood home was a quaint village, where a lot of elderly pokemon lived. Though she had a handful of friends, they were more just the other youngsters of the village rather than pokemon she genuinely got along with.
- Upon just reaching adolescence, Lazuli and her friends decided to make a little money and have a taste of adventure by applying to do some small exploring jobs. It went alright, at first. And then something made it more than alright.
- Lazuli was assigned a simple mission: escorting a fire-type pokemon through a coastal dungeon, as her typing made water-type enemies no problem. What she didn't expect was what kind of fire-type awaited her. Lazuli had been convinced she was going to spend the day ensuring the safety of, say, some kindly old torkoal or magcargo. She was extremely taken aback when she was greeted by a lively houndoom, adorned with all kinds of accessories and bearing an unusual - quite pretty - accent. After a warm thanks to Lazuli for her willingness to help them out, the houndoom introduced themself as Renegade. Though they were only a little bit older than Lazuli, they seemed so much more wise and experienced in exploring! The two chatted a lot during the adventure. Renegade - whom Lazuli soon decided to dub "Ren" - told the shinx that they were from a different continent, they were fascinated by the idea of being an explorer, they wanted to travel around the world, get to meet all kinds of pokemon with different ways of living, try to understand themself better, and have a whole lot of fun; though they admitted they had gotten a bit too eager on their earlier travels and overestimated their own skills, and thus were happy that Lazuli was there as a guide and protection against water-types. A long, fun walk, a shared laugh, a well-placed compliment, an interesting story well told; that was more than enough. Lazuli fell hard and fast.

- Lazuli began to take every opportunity she could to see Ren. She knew they were too much of a free spirit to stay in the area for long, so she wanted to savor as much time as she could with them. Ren didn't make it easy - they would often go off exploring on their own, without a word to anyone, or hang around town spots with other pokemon, without inviting Lazuli. This hurt her feelings a little, since she had hoped they considered her a friend and wanted to be around her, but she tried to push the thoughts away, and work harder instead, in hopes that more strength and experience would gain Ren's respect.

- One day, she ran into the houndoom on her way to the shop, and they told her they were planning to move on from this village and probably wouldn't be coming back. That didn't turn out to be the case, though. Ren's route started with a particularly dangerous dungeon. Though they made a couple of attempts, they couldn't make it very far at all, and ended up staggering back to the road leading to the village, badly hurt, where a couple of pokemon found them and helped them the rest of the way back. Naturally, as soon as she heard, Lazuli did what she could to help with Ren's recovery, even if it meant neglecting her duties, making a lot of runs to the store for bandages and medicines, and spending some extra cash on sweets in hopes of bringing Ren's mood up. She tried to get After Ren was fully healed, she insisted on letting them take her along on their adventures for a bit - because two pokemon are stronger than one, and she also wanted to become a better explorer after all. To her delight, Ren agreed.

- For quite a long time, Lazuli and Ren travelled together. They weren't an official team, but they were a pretty solid pair. ...In dungeons, at least. Ren's street smarts and positive attitude made them easy to work with, not to mention that they were a skilled fighter. They took good care of Lazuli, making sure she was never left behind or took too much damage. Thanks to their move Thief, Ren would pick up a lot of little treasures and miscellaneous items that they would make accessories out of, and sometimes give to Lazuli. It was around this time that Lazuli gained the nickname Fishbone, originally as a sort of joke villain name earned for viciously defeating a lot of fish pokemon, but it ended up sticking.

- That was very nice for Fishbone of course, but it wasn't the full picture. Outside dungeons, Ren wouldn't pay much attention to her, in favor of socialising with new pokemon and going off on little side quests. Fishbone would often wake up to find that Ren was already gone for the day. The shinx found this confusing and upsetting. She'd expected the journeys to bring the two pokemon closer together, but here they were, growing farther apart. She felt like the houndoom was sick of her, but hiding it out of politeness. But each time Ren gave her an accessory, ruffled her fur, or laughed at her joke, Fishbone's fondness for them returned. All this was not great for her self-esteem.

- Then, Bayley came into the picture. The pair met her at a market, where she was selling accessories and rare orbs. Bayley had an aura that immediately commanded respect, and not just because of her impressive size. She was calm and knowledgeable, and seemed like a pokemon who knew what she wanted and would not break her own pace. Perhaps this was what drew Ren to her. As they were examining the arcanine's goods, Ren struck up a conversation with her, and they really hit it off. A couple of nights later, Fishbone was roused from sleep by the sound of chatting outside, and found Ren having a little campfire with Bayley. Fishbone's initial reaction was a spike of jealousy. How was it fair that she, who had spent so long traveling with, helping, loving Ren, was left to sleep without so much as a goodnight, while this stranger from the other day was having what seemed to be a long heart-to-heart with them? But she couldn't harbor any bad feelings to the arcanine for long. While Fishbone had stood there, watching them, a little heartbroken, Bayley noticed the movement from inside, and called for the shinx to join their conversation. Though Fishbone was a little salty - and a little intimidated by the larger pokemon - she was happy to walk over. Bayley did an excellent job of making her feel welcome. She directed questions towards the shinx, listened patiently when she spoke, and always steered the conversation towards topics they could all have say in. For the second time in her life, Fishbone was taken aback at how a pokemon could be so charismatic.

- Ren also tried to use their charisma on Bayley and get her on board to travel with them. This didn't initially work. Though Bayley was clearly fond of Renegade, she was very independent. She declined the invitation. She did, however, spend a good amount of time with them - both Ren and Fishbone, both together and separately. So much so that she did end up practically becoming the unofficial third member of their unofficial team. Though Fishbone should have been happy about this development, she didn't. Being an insecure teen, Fishbone would constantly compare herself to her adventure partners. She admired and genuinely liked Bayley too much to see her as the villain who took her crush away. Instead, the shinx realised her own faults - she was being desperate and selfish for sticking with Ren for so long. At the same time, she had based her life so far off following others rather than finding her own place in the world. This realisation - paired with the fact that Renegade and Bayley were obviously into each other, and Fishbone couldn't deal with having that around her all the time - led her to stop travelling with Ren and join the guild instead. She kept the nickname Ren gave her, going by that rather than the name she was born with.
