"Healing" is a more grandiose label than Yeong-Hwan
likes to use. He doesn't introduce new healing processes,
but rather gives a helping hand to what's already in the
body. And even then, he has his limits.
General abrasions and bruises are simple enough to heal.
Deeper issues, injured muscles and deep tissue bruising/
hematomas are a little more difficult but still solveable
in a single sitting. Any injuries more complex (broken
bones, torn muscles, etc) he can't always solve himself.
He can reduce pain and inflammation, and if the injury
would eventually heal itself he can speed the process
along over multiple sessions. However, if the injury
would need surgery to fix, he can't risk anything more
than reducing pain and inflammation.
Illnesses are even more tricky. Technically, he can
reduce fever, and clear out infections, but the
potential for complications are too high. He won't do
anything more than clear out wound and sinus
infections. And even then, he'll only do it slowly over
multiple sessions.
✧ His parents met after they both immigrated out of Korea.
They met in San Francisco, then moved to Anchorage, where
Yeong-Hwan was born. He had a younger sister named Jae-In.
✧ Growing up, they were relatively far away from other people,
just barely within the limits of the municipality. Yeong-Hwan
and his sister were homeschooled, further removing them from
society.
✧ Loved books on science, especially medicine. Growing up, he
wanted to be a doctor. The idea was solidified when his sister
found an injured rabbit that they managed to nurse back to
health.
✧ Since he didn't have the money for med school, he agreed
to help an organization called the Spectrals when they reached
out to him. In exchange for his time with them, they would help
him pay for school.
✧ Was excited to leave Alaska. He didn't hate it there, but the
idea of being in a more populous area was intriguing. He always
intended to go back for visits and to send money back for his
parents and sister once he could.
✧ The day of the explosion he was in the buiding undergoing
his regular medical assistance rounds. The organization chose to
provide basic medical training, and utilized him as a medical
assistant. It was never anything glamorous, but it left him
with a good base of medical knowledge.
✧ Waking up again years later was.... a shock. Realizing that
his family wasn't around (or at least, not where he left them)
was horrible. For now he just wants to keep his teammates
alive, it's almost easier to focus on that than on what comes
after.
✧ Healing is physically exhausting. He's learned that he has
to go in "sessions" and take steps to achieve a result. After
a session he has to nap. Sleep like the dead, nap.
✧ However, the modern age does provide some luxuries.
Comfy clothes! Huge comfy sweaters and hoodies in the
cutest of colors! He loves them.
✧ Likes to think things through. Everything can be approached by
taking steps, and making a plan. But he hides this behind a playful
exterior. He's taking time to find things to enjoy while also trying
to avoid the people who would like to kill them.
✧ Modern technology freaks him the heck out.
