⇀ personality : crestwhisker is on the more sensitive side of things, her training in the medical field developing her senses to detect even the most simple of injury: a small scratch, an irritated paw, the rumble in ones throat indicating a case of greencough. she's caring compared to her predecessor, but commanding with the authoritative tone of a mother scolding her young. the feline is demanding of respect, especially when it comes to her own den and its workings. despite this vehement aspect of her personality, she can be a cat's best friend as well, and has come to be rather close to older cats of the clan, and exceptionally a strong bond with starkstar and sycamorehowl, her mentor.
underneath these strong bonds and position of authority, a deep fear stirs within her, stemming from her leader's degrading health, and soon her role in not only training her own apprentice, but to care for their soon to be leader. crestwhisker suffers in her own stress, drowning these fears in her own sense of purpose to her clan; after all, she wouldn't have been chosen as medicine cat if starclan didn't know what they were doing, right?

⇀ history : (kithood) crestkit, that was the name she was dawned with, and by destiny. once she was named, sycamorehowl waited patiently for the age of her apprenticeship, paying close attention to the young she' while she grew up; she was destined to be a medicine cat from birth, but no doubt hunter's blood was passed into her and her sister, maplekit, while their darker sibling showed the signs of a strong fighter. regardless of her siblings, crestkit was chosen by her starry ancestors, and sycamorehowl had no choice in the matter. (apprenticeship) crestpaw had looked forward to hunting alongside her siblings and parents, but that decisive day when she was chosen as medicine cat apprentice by the stern white cat dampened her hopes quite dramatically. for several moons, she trained harshly under the instruction of sycamorehowl, having to focus on her study of herbs while her sister trained to hunt the several animals in their territory, and lostpaw to protect and fight for the home he loved. for the majority of her apprenticeship she despised her position, finding relief in the brief sessions in which hunters and fighters aided her in the basic skills of being a hunter and/or fighter. at one point, crestpaw was dismissed early from a hunting lesson to tend to her sister, violently assaulted by a lynx while practicing. maplepaw had lost too much blood, her ears torn beyond recognition and several patches of fur missing and bleeding. sycamorehowl determined her death early, but crestpaw worked desperately to save the young apprentice, all while the tom watched helplessly, pitying the young molly but admiring her determination. late into the night, maplepaw drew her last breath to join her ancestors. crestpaw was devastated for several moons, mourning her sister but forcing herself to work harder in order to be able to save those as she was unable to save her sister, anything to make it up to the apprentice. (promotion) sycamorehowl was sixty moons before deciding to give the now twenty-two moon old crestpaw. lostwhisper, a now premoted fighter, acted as her guard while she spent her five nights in the moon cave, a hard five nights, in which sycamorehowl joined her on the final night to determine her readiness. it was rough but proved a fruitful endeavor, as she continued on to a regular apprentice's test, passed with flying colors despite her rough sleeping through the test. only a few moons after her successful naming ceremony from crestpaw to crestwhisker, sycamorehowl passed due to old age, and crestwhisker assumed the role of medicine cat, officially.
