physical
Saturn isn't exactly the tallest of wolves. He stands about 5' to the shoulders, and tends to walk with his head down, accentuating
his height (or lack thereof). He is mostly chocolate-tinted black, but has gray, tan, and cream undertones. His eyes are mustard-
gold, and his fur is thick enough to withstand the cold. He is slight of build, not heavy-set and stands low to the ground, like his
timber and gray wolf cousins. He has no significant scars or markings. He is not heavily muscled, but what he lacks in strength, speed,
and sheer power, he makes up for with the stamina to out-pace any prey. He's not one for glorious takedowns of elk and bears, but
he's a helpful hunting partner, tracking exceptionally with all the time he spends with his nose on the ground, and following silently
and unseen until his prey is worn down. He could not win in a brawl or sprinting race, but would easily claim victory in a long trek
through the mountains.

personality
Saturn is the submissive/friendly type of wolf. He doesn't start fights unless someone is being so awful he has to intervene. He is
mostly passive. He is kind and can often be found helping pups walk in the snow and entertaining them. He prefers them to the
company of adult wolves - pups are carefree and lack a sense of permanence and ego, while adults think more self-oriented. That
is not to say that he doesn't care for adults at all - he is quite affectionate with his acquaintances, and stays out of the way of
wolves that don't care for him.

Saturn tends towards reserved, a better mediator than instigator. His order of importance goes as follows: being good to the future >
being good to others > fulfilling one's own needs > fulfilling one's ego and pride. (He's basically the Mr. Rogers of wolves.)

history
Saturn was born half-pack, half-loner. His father, Dhateyar, deceased, was part of the pack, but his mother, Omen, was not. He
was the only pup in his mother's litter, and while she stayed with the pack to raise him, her heart lay far across the mountains,
and a tearful goodbye was said when a young Saturn chose to stay with his father and his pack. He dreams of her from time to
time, and likes to think she dreams of him, too, in her home with her pack. He dreams of brothers and sisters, but while he's sad
that he didn't go with her to her home, he knows that his place was with the pack.

Dhateyar died of old age when he was around 8 - having fathered Saturn at the age of 4. Saturn mourned his death, and keeps
his father in his heart. Dhateyar always said, "First, be good to the world. Then, be good to the pack. Then, be good to yourself."
That's where Saturn got his life orientation - being good comes before all else.

Saturn has neither found a mate nor sired pups. It's not on the top of his to-do list, and, as is his way, he has been passive in
finding a mate - if the right wolf comes along, he could be so inclined, but he won't seek anyone out. He has no strong preference
to the gender of his mate, as he isn't enormously interested in having his own pups. The whole pack provides that sense of
fatherhood for him, and he doesn't need his own pups to be a father to the little wolves he visits as they nurse.

appearance —
the grey and red griffin is tall and proud of stature, if not actual attitude - Eidolon stands 10 feet at the shoulder, 15 at the crests of his ears, and holds himself with a catlike arch to the spine and chest. his feathers, especially on the neck, head and chest, are unreasonably fluffy, making him seem far broader and thicker than he actually is. because of this, those who meet him often expect Eidolon to be slower or less agile than he is, mistaking weightless fluff for heavy mass. his coloring runs to dark greys along his back and tail, with black beak, claws and feet, but his plumage turns to softer pale greys with cream and gold tones along the throat and belly, and autumn oranges and reds on the secondary plumes of his wings, tail, and at the tufts of his hind legs.

personality —
the hybrid nature of the griffin's dual species - avian and feline - combine to make Eidolon in particular intensely curious, eternally seeking new bits of knowledge and new secrets. a lover of exploration, he often wastes hours exploring the desolate ruins and rubble of the civilizations long past, finding bizarre tidbit or trinkets, and collecting the scraps of knowledge to be found there. the natural shelves of his cave system lair are lined with many such trinkets, and some of the smaller treasures he even carries with him, hidden away in the deep fluff of his feathers, to be pulled out and shown or studied as needed. as of now, his hidden treasures include three keys of varying sizes, a puzzle box, and a stone that glows faintly when held against a living creature.

the reputation of griffins is to be regal and dignified, but Eidolon occasionally forgets to hold himself with the graceful bearing of his peers, too distracted by the glint of something new - a secret, an oddity, an old book or bit of rubble, anything can set off his desire to find out more. he can also drive the others of his flight to madness with his curiosity; anything remotely interested, once it's caught his attention, will hold it no matter how often someone smacks him with a wing or tells him to mind his own business.

despite the often childlike wonder of his behavior, though, Eidolon does hold a practical streak, bending his wild variety of oddly-gained knowledge to good use. he holds a thorough understanding of edible plants, toxins, wound treatments, and can be called upon to perform apothecary duties or provide medical treatment and healing. his obsession with exploration has led to some very dirty feathers - and ridiculous contortions to fit in small places - but it also has given him a near perfect recollection of the land around his territory. he might wander off for hours seeking every color variation of a particular plant, but... at least he never gets lost.

due to his constant search for knowledge, Eidolon has spent most of his adult life exploring — and most of his childhood pestering the elders for information and being an adorable, fuzzy pest that couldn't be kept out of things. now, he spends his time overseeing the changing world around him, observing its patterns. every season brings new dangers, new wonders, new oddities in their world.

Eidolon holds the guardianship of his part of the mountains dear and observes it in detail, taking notes of everything — watching the various prey species for over-hunting, but equally curious and watchful over the occasional wolf that wanders through the alpine forests towards his aerie. as is true for all the griffins, he remains neutral and does not engage in territory wars with the creatures below, nor does he hold hostilities to any of them; but if a threat approaches, he will meet it head on.

of late, dark rumors have been circulating, the winters grow ever colder and harsher, monsters stirring and gathering together. he doesn't know what's coming, but finding out is becoming one of his strongest driving ambitions — whatever is about to happen is going to change the world, and Eidolon has no intention of missing it.

personality:Zeph can seem a little cold and isn't too friendly with people he doesn't know well. If he doesn't like or trust someone he won't say anything rude, normally he just won't speak to them and will ignore them. If someone does continue to try him he will eventually lash out, sometimes verbally, sometimes physically. Though he does warm up if someone shows him that they aren't going to be unfriendly with him. Once someone gains his trust he becomes extremely loyal. He not afraid to voice his opinions and this includes when someone wants him to do something, but he doesn't agree. He always loves a challenge, even if it is a serious fight.
