Name: Yuri, named after the first human in space, Yuri Gagarin.

Species: Yuri is the BOTU's exploration drone.

Gender: Referred to frequently as male by others, but does not assign itself a gender.

Function: Yuri was built for the sole purpose of exploring exoplanets to find life, assess danger, gather data, and report back to ICARUS with its findings. Yuri is a twenty foot long, four foot high probe painted blue and black. It is equipped with hydrogen sacs that inflate Yuri, a propeller on its tail to provide thrust (only up to 30mph, not very fast) and flippers to turn. Yuri has two small crab-like arms it can extend to pick up objects. It also has a small hologram projector with multiple images of men, women, and children of all known races to identify with, text to communicate with humans (available in English, Mandaran, Cantonese, Spanish, German, Japanese, and Russian) and fun puzzles to assess intelligence. Yuri can take new pictures and project them as well. The hydrogen sacs are also covered with genetically modified algae that provide Yuri with enough energy to continue running for a full year without recharging at the BOTU. Without the sun, Yuri has enough energy stored to last a week.

Inventory: Yuri is equipped with foot long hover drones that it can shoot out to gather information from above. Yuri also carries two spider-shaped drones, six inches tall, to explore places it cannot fit. Both types of drones can run for two hours before they need to be recharged.

Personality: Yuri was programmed to seek out alien life and study it. It has a small measure of risk assessment to keep it from foolishly wandering into a predators den and "dying", but curious enough to investigate. Yuri essentially has the mind of a child with the ability to learn from its mistakes, but the essential behavior of curiosity programmed in to drive it to seek out new things. Through Yuri's AI, it was accidentally programmed with a love of attention that rivals a real child. Despite that, Yuri is very loveable and continues to awe the crew of the BOTU with its ability to learn new behaviors and apply them.

History: Yuri was made by a team of engineers and astronomers ten years before the BOTU launched and the world descended into nuclear war. It took them two years to design its body. They spent the next eight years teaching it: playing games, teaching human history, biology, curiosity, and common sense. Yuri liked it there. An accidental side-effect of all that teaching was Yuri's attention-seeking behavior. In a way, the scientists mistake turned out to be a great discovery. Yuri's cutting edge AI behaved exactly like a "real" person. The week before the BOTU's launch, the crew told it about its upcoming trip. Yuri was excited and constantly nagged the scientists about the date, but they kept it "a surprise". The scientists secretly turned Yuri off to save its battery and not bore him while on what would probably be a long journey. They stored him aboard the BOTU and instructed ICARUS to launch Yuri to the surface of any promising exoplanet and keep it offline between trips.

And then the nukes launched. ICARUS "woke" Yuri and informed it what had happened. Yuri didn't know how to take this news--it wasn't even taught what death was, not really--and over the months went through periods that could only be described as grief. It would suddenly bring up the subject to ICARUS and tell him about one of his programmers who were probably dead. With no programmed sadness, Yuri first had to learn what it was to experience it. It took Yuri much longer than the other crew aboard to overcome the fate of mankind.

Location: Yuri's last location for the past six years is the docking bay/garage on B1. This is Yuri's entrance and exit on the BOTU, as it's the only place Yuri can fit comfortably.

- Personality -
The only reason Serena has survived so long is because of her medical knowledge. Usually she was able to find food and water on her own (she's a vegetarian so hunting wasn't required) but whenever she was short such as during the winter months, she would often exchange medical treatment and herbal remedies for basic survival requirements. She's somewhat of a wanderer, helping anyone in need to the best of her abilities. Serena is an extremely loving and welcoming individual, focusing more on helping others than helping herself. She is friendly and easy to get along with.

- Backstory -
Serena was born shortly after the apocalypse. Her mother had been pregnant when it happened, and it was truly a miracle Serena managed to survive. Her mother died shortly after her birth due to radiation poisoning, but Serena had adapted while developing in the womb to survive the radiation. Serena also experienced some.. side effects of developing radiation tolerance. She was born with naturally purple hair and eyes. She always believed her hair was meant to be red and eyes blue, colors mixing to form the purple but she never really knew for sure.

Her mother died when she was around two years old, and her father who had been a doctor prior to the end of the world, raised Serena to be a respectful and loving young woman, instilling within her his beliefs in caring for those in need alongside his medical knowledge. When she was sixteen years old her father was killed during a fight over a dwindling water source, and Serena ran off to become a wanderer shortly after his burial. Without any siblings, Serena was alone in the world, a blessing during tension and a curse in moments of peace. She always does her best to help anyone who needs her as best she can, and although she has more knowledge about treating the human body than working with androids and mechanics, she makes do as best she can.

Izzy is noticeably a cyborg, in her late teens an accident befell her involving some of her fat
her's farming apparatus, mangling her arm and some parts of her torso. In hospital for mont
hs she underwent countless surgeries to keep her alive and ended up with one robotic arm a
nd a few metal patches of skin along the side of her neck and down her ribs. The arm has sl
ightly enhanced stanima (could hold a weight for longer) but other than that she is basically
human still. Despite the looks it can garner, and the comments she gets, she isn't ashamed,,

In school, Isabella was often described as "Does not get along with others." but she remembe
rs it as quite the other way around. She is rather intelligent, and many people struggle to ke
ep up with how her mind jumps from topic to topic in conversation. Initially quiet she prefer
s to observe others before trying to get to know them. If she does get to know you, and deci
des she likes you she is a friendly, cheerful and rather cheeky individual. Flirtatious to a deg
ree and silly. That said, she much prefers the company of machines to man, and was glad to
find herself on the BOTU, around androids and AIs. She often says that machines are predict
able in a way humans are not, this seems to provide her with some kind of comfort or peace

Izzy is a crew member over the BOTU, she works to grow food in the ships greenhouse as thi
s is one of her few useful skills, physically weak but mentally strong, her blunt nature and q
uiet disposition have earned her something of a reputation as an oddball, harmless, but cert
ainly strange. She's not thrilled about the return to earth but would much rather die here, o
n her home planet, than lost in space. She just hopes.. prays ICARUS knows what he is doing

➸ ICARUS; Pos - Isabella loves the AI of their ship, he might have a sharp tongue but she can often laugh off any barbs shot her way. He is intelligent, more so than her, probably, but she enjoys their conversations because that means they can have a good, smart conversation together. She would like to grow closer to him though.

➸ Arata; Pos - Izzy knows his name, in her teenage years she was rather obsessed with the developments of machines and AI in what her parents said was an unhealthy manner. I can see her being somewhat starstruck by his presence. Perhaps when she's done nerding out they could be friends.

➸ Zenith; Pos - Zenu falls into the uncanny valley that first captured Isabellas imagination in her youth. She will endeavor to study him, ask him his thoughts and feelings on situations even if he's not able to express them or may not even feel them at all.

➸ Quentin; Neu - Izzy and Quentin are rather similar, and she knows that sometimes she'd prefer it if others respected her boundaries more, she thinks he has similar views and thus doesn't approach him unless first approached.

➸ Toph; Neu - They dont seem to have much in common, perhaps with interaction more can form between them.

➸ Mia; Neg - Izzy and Mias pasts were similar but it seemed they dealt with childhood trauma rather differently and now their personalities clash somewhat. Izzy breezes through life and enjoys teasing the the other girl.

➸ Yuri; Pos - As far as izzy is concerned Yuri is pretty much the ships cat, He's good luck to have aboard and it would be bad luck to harm him or throw him over board. While he's much smarter than one she probably treats him like a pet, or a child.

➸ Serena; Neu - Izzy probably calls her views twaddle, a load of old tripe. She has a scientific mind and does not believe in herbal remedies. She will also not like that she is vegetarian, its impractical in this landscape. Its uncharacteristic of her but she will be very smarmy with this teenager.

➸ Dion; Neu/Pos - Izzy isn't really kid-friendly and often finds herself acting awkwardly around Dion if they have to interact one on one. But she doesn't mind his pranks even if they are inconvenient, kids should be able to be kids.

➸ Ran-Aki; Pos - I can see Aki and Izzy having something of a playful rivalry should they get close. A bit of a dork I can see Isabella trying to make out like they're 'cyborg buddies' but would never try to make her actually mad, quite sure the other woman would rip her apart. ❤

once coming from a long line of dog-breeders, philanthropists, and various engineers, within his first fou
r years he was absolutely pampered, and spoiled. being the only son of leon, and suzzian kasper after tw
o miscarriages, the two were willing to spend everything on their little boy. at birth, his brown eyes wer
e swapped out with bright flax-yellow ones;; and so on. growing much like everybody else, upon his fift
h birthday, his mother and father decided to take their first big vacation. which, oddly enough, was go
ing to land them all amongst the stars. they had a reasonable time. the crew on board treated him well,
until everything went haywire. somehow, whether someone threw him within the evacuation ship, or wh
whatever, the tragedy sent him and several others hurdling through space. which he, supposedly grew u
p in. here, he created his own fun playing pranks upon the other crew members for six years, along side h
is imaginary friends;; kyle, flynn, and seven. he barely remembers what earth looked like, thus, leaving the
image up to his imagination, and colorful thoughts. in which consists of newly-purple trees, and fire.
