Crestwood Estate was established in 2002 by Mr. Phillip Campbell, a warmblood breeder and hunter trainer with every intention of creating the finest fleet of hunter/jumper athletes the eastern U.S. had to offer. Only a select few riders and horses were selected to join the Crestwood Crew, who enjoyed forty acres of manicured pastureland, impeccable barns, and groomed arenas. Mr. Campell, however, didn't buy into the encouraging nature of most of the other hunter trainers in the area; rather, he cultivated a culture of competition and contention among his riders. Trainers began denouncing Phillip's harsh teaching to one another, while the riders themselves became intensely divided and started to break down under the pressure. The resulting drama culminated eleven years later in 2013, when the majority of the riders had enough of Crestwood's toxic nature and left to join Mr. Campbell's rival stable. As a result, Crestwood suddenly could not afford to stay afloat, and Mr. Campbell sold the farm as his remaining riders anxiously awaited the arrival of whoever would purchase the farm.

Wynne Kaur and Annabelle Dunham dreamed since they were little girls of purchasing their own riding school; when Crestwood Estate came onto the market, they knew it was just the opportunity to get Annabelle out of her desk job and Wynne out of her underpaid riding coach position at another barn. Annabelle invested in an imported German Riding Pony stud and a handful of Welsh broodmares to start the pony breeding program of her dreams. Wynne, meanwhile, had coached eventing for eleven years, and many of her students chose to migrate with her to the new barn. Having taught young children for most of her career, the young trainer had worked tirelessly to promote an encouraging team atmosphere among her riders; while her eventers weren't always in the ribbons, they were determined to have fun and uplift one another at every show. Being a loud, rowdy bunch, they couldn't be any more different than Crestwood's remaining students.

The sale, unfortunately, happened just weeks before Crestwood's infamous summer boarding school program; Wynne, however, refuses to back down in the face of the challenge. With the help of a hunter/jumper trainer Annabelle hired for the farm, she aims to jump back and forth between horse trials and hunter shows and bring together a single, cohesive team among the vastly different riders. The riders, however, might have different ideas. The hunter riders see the eventers as unruly and undisciplined, while the eventers see the hunters as stuck-up and unfriendly. Can the new trainers put together a true team, or will the unsportsmanlike teachings of one bad trainer continue to divide the Estate's riders?

This thread is for all forms and lengthy OOC discussion. A template form can be posted if necessary; just say the word. Please be sure to read all of the roleplay rules before joining; no need to keep genders even, more space will be made as needed. Let's get started!

tyler sanchez

Postby caf. » Thu Dec 27, 2018 9:30 am

ใ€Tyler Sanchezใ€‘
    full name: Tyler Rose Sanchez
    nicknames: Ty (preferred), Tee
    age: 19 years old
    gender: for general purposes, male
    height: 5'1"
    orientation: unsure
    sport: eventing
    horses: Hootch & Misty
Ty was born Sophia Rose Sanchez in central Kansas, the only child of Marcus and Mila Sanchez.
As a youngster, Sophia picked up a rapid fascination with horses, having grown up driving back
and forth from school between horse pastures and cattle fields. As her father was a software
developer and her mother a real estate agent, they had no idea about anything horse-related.
With their comfortable finances, they nonetheless purchased Sophia a pair of cowboy boots
and a cheap helmet and enrolled her in one or two horse camps every summer as she was
growing up. Eventually, young Sophia became enrolled in a full-time lesson program with a
local eventing barn; to her parents' surprise, she began moving up rapidly through the levels.
She leased a number of horses in her early career, but couldn't ever quite convince her
parents to buy her a horse of her own despite her obvious talent.

Ty knew from a young age, as young as eleven, that something wasn't quite right about the name Sophia, but it took until age fourteen for him to confirm his identity - at the time, as nonbinary. Mercifully, though Ty's parents did not fully understand their child's identity, they nonetheless were happy to begin referring to him by the "they/them" pronouns he requested at the time and by the new name (later, as he grew into his identity, he discovered that he actually didn't mind masculine pronouns at all). Later that year, for his birthday, they surprised him with his first horse; a moody but incredibly talented black thoroughbred mare named Bree with eventing experience all the way to the Preliminary level. Ty rapidly moved with her into the Novice level of competition, and was just on the verge of going Preliminary when, at age sixteen, Marcus and Mila made the crushing announcement that they were moving to Virginia. Ty, who had just started to come out of his shell at school, was devastated; nonetheless, Bree was loaded onto a trailer and shipped halfway across the country to a boarding stable. While the move was very hard on the late teen, Ty would later regard this as the luckiest event of his life, for the stable his parents chose just so happened to be the same one where Wynne Kaur was teaching. Tyler and Bree rode with Wynne through the Training and Preliminary levels; as well, Tyler bought a second horse, a cheap Paint Horse gelding with very little under-saddle experience, as a fun side project. Tyler was just about to move on to Intermediate when, in the middle of his senior year, a completely unexpected trailer accident took Bree's life - and with it, all of Ty's confidence. Since then, it has been Wynne's mission to bring Ty back to the upper levels, and Ty's to not only revive his eventing career, but also to someday participate in the Mustang Million.

As a young child, Ty was relatively shy and withdrawn, avoiding social
interaction outright. Especially since he has become one of the
elder members of Wynne's riding team, a lot has changed; while he
still generally won't actively seek out social interaction with people
he doesn't know, he is very chatty with his friends and has a
generally excitable demeanor. He's not a particularly gifted leader
(he's not overwhelmingly bright, nor is he especially gifted at
sensing and taking initiative), but he's become a trusted sidekick
for Wynne due to his willingness to fall in line and follow orders
with glee. Ty is fantastic with kids and is often hired by barn
parents as a babysitter; with his own peers, his interactions can be
awkward at times, but he is nonetheless happy to get to know
people once they prove themselves worth his time. Small talk was
never Ty's strength, but he's very happy to discuss anything that is
familiar to him - school, horses, and so forth - in depth. He's also a
fantastic listener; while he doesn't often have great advice, many
of his friends nonetheless come to him at the first sign of trouble
since he can always often a listening ear and a comforting word or
two.
Nowadays, he simply introduces himself as a guy to new people
without further explanation; since he has now been on hormones
for awhile and his voice has deepened significantly, it usually isn't
questioned, though when the subject is approached in a friendly
manner, he's more than happy to explain. Should someone prove
unfriendly to Ty, he will rarely if ever retaliate, but the kid can
hold a grudge for quite some time if someone seriously wrongs him
(though he will never retaliate).
Though he is relatively excitable, he tends to express his negative
emotions inwardly; he is rarely ever visibly angry or frustrated with
anyone, but on the flip side, it is often difficult to tell when he is
very upset. Ty does suffer from some residual anxiety, though he
has recovered significantly; when he is worried, he tends to
express it with much nervous laughter and chattering and fidgeting
with whatever objects he has at his disposal.

Likes:
    - Ty loves to sing. Ty has absolutely no singing talent,
even less since his voice has deepened. He pretends not to be
aware of his lack of talent, but he is fully in the know and
continues just to annoy his friends.
    - He loves a clean environment; his tackbox is usually
impeccably organized, and his bunk is likely to be one of the
    most put-together in the bunkhouse.
    - Following the last point, Ty is very concerned with his own
grooming. His morning hair routine rivals that of some of the
girls, and he shaves almost daily despite...really not needing
    to yet.
    - Ty has a massive sweet tooth; anyone who brings him candy
or ice cream in particular is immediately on his friends list.
    - Ty loves movies; he spent many hours on the couch with his
father watching whatever flick happened to be on that night,
and those memories have become very fond for him.
Dislikes:
    - Ty is not a huge fan of bright colors in terms of clothes
    and tack.
    - He gets very anxious when surrounded by clutter and mess,
in a literal or figurative sense.
    - Ty does not take hints well, and can get very agitated when
someone's nonverbal cues don't line up with what they are
    saying.
    - Laziness really bothers him; he generally dislikes anyone who
doesn't volunteer to pitch in when things need to get done.
    - In general, Ty highly dislikes change, and gets uncomfortable
when he doesn't have a set routine.
Fun facts:
    - Ty originally attempted to reject his middle name along with
his given first name; however, after it became a friendly
inside joke at the barn due to his extended showing career at
Texas Rose Horse Park in Tyler, Texas, he decided it was funny
enough to keep it after all.
    - Ty's favorite color is hunter green.
    - In high school, Ty was set on attending college, most likely for a
degree in business. He took a gap year to finish up his riding
career. Nowadays, he thinks he'll attend trade school or community
college instead, since he can't reconcile the thought of leaving the
barn after so many years (nor can he afford to bring a horse to
    college).
    - Ty used to be very insecure about his height. Now, it's his number
    one go-to joke.
    - Ty is terribly unaware of any sort of flirting (reading hints is
generally not his strength, but especially in this regard).
    - Ty still has remnants of his southern/midwestern accent despite
having lived in Virginia for three years at this point.
    - Ty is a ridiculously picky eater; team dinners can be difficult for
    this reason.
    - That said, he lives off of spicy food; his Hispanic father
raised him right, so he says.
At 5'1" and around 145 pounds, Ty is very stocky in build with
proportionally wide shoulders and hips. He has copper-tanned skin,
particularly in the summertime, and jet black hair. He is relatively
muscular; while his arms, torso, and legs are not terribly well-defined,
he's obviously strong for his size. Ty does have a small but noticeable
chest; in his day-to-day wear, a compression garment gives the illusion
of a flat chest, but at night he generally sleeps in only a tee shirt and
shorts. Proportionally, he has small feet (actually a minor insecurity of
his) in comparison to his body.

Ty has a round face - in his own words, a "baby face" - with bright, round
green eyes set forward in his face underneath moderately thick, black
eyebrows. His hair is buzzed short on the sides and left at a medium
length on top of his head; when not wearing a helmet or hat, he often
styles it in a pompadour. He has a small, hooked nose and a prominent
beige mouth. His teeth are noticeably straight and white; combined with
his small dimples, they make for a great smile. As he has grown, his
square jaw has become more defined, and his cheekbones have become
more visible as well. Especially in the summers, he develops about a
dozen dark freckles on his cheeks. He grows very little facial hair; most
wouldn't be able to tell he had any at all unless he hadn't shaved for
several days. Ty has small ears, set close to the side of his head.

Ty's voice is deep enough to be generally read as male, though it's
nowhere near the bass voice he'd really like. He has a genuine, rolling
laugh and a deep, thoughtful sigh; especially when speaking in low tones
to his horses, his voice can be outright melodic. Nonetheless, Ty's almost
completely tone-deaf; needless to say, his singing is expressly forbidden
in the bunkhouse.

Ty likes to dress in neutral colors; navy, brown, hunter green, and black
are his staples. Every now and again, he might wear mustard yellow,
maroon, or white to change things up. His wardrobe largely consists of
polos and solid-colored button-downs, along with an assortment of black
and tan riding breeches. He often accessorizes with leather belts, but
prefers to avoid wristwatches (and wristbands in general) unless they
are necessary, as in cross-country competition. At the barn, he often
wears a ballcap to conceal his messy hair. Off the horse, he wears simple
black sneakers, skinny jeans, and a simple tee shirt or button down.

ty's horses

Tyler brought Hootch for the full sum of $3,000; the four-year-old paint horse had all of six months' experience under saddle and a well-established habit of bucking. Naturally, Ty fell in love instantly. He was, of course, given his call name by his old owners; his show name is a double pun on his height (a mere 15.1hh in comparison to the warmbloods and thoroughbreds Ty is used to) and his likely inability to go any higher than novice-level eventing. Ty is currently running beginner novice with him; when they're not riding, his owner can spend hours at a time bathing him to keep his white markings in pristine shape.
Hootch is a naturally trusting people-horse; since he spent most of his life living semi-feral in a hay field with his mother and a few other mare-and-foal pairs, he never had a reason to mistrust people. Ty is, of course, his favorite person - the young rider often lets the gelding follow him around the farm completely at liberty - but at home, he'll pack around anyone without concern. However, Hootch is very nervous about new objects and new environments. This anxiety has actually done wonders for Ty's fear of change, since he must spend so much time comforting the horse at shows and such. In the pasture, Hootch can actually be a terrible bully; he's never seriously injured another horse, but he and his pasturemates often come in with scratches and scrapes from play sessions that got a little too intense.

Breed: American Paint Horse (unregistered)
Height: 15.1hh
Coat Color: Bay Overo
Disciplines: Hootch is, primarily, an eventer. Tyler also brings him to
dressage shows and hunter shows on occasion to drill his individual
skills and keep him well-rounded. As well, Tyler owns a western saddle
for him; not only is it used for trail riding, but Ty barrel races and pole
bends him for fun.
Tack: Ty has black dressage and jumping saddles for Hootch, along with
several saddle pads to match Ty's favorite colors. As well, Ty has a
black figure-eight bridle and a simple dressage bridle, both with plain
browbands (Ty's been meaning to buy him some bling, but hasn't found
the money thus far). As well, Ty owns a cheap, used brown western
saddle with a red western pad an a simple headstall and braided rope
reins. Hootch wears a simple snaffle bit for all phases and black wrap-
-around event boots and black bell boots for all work over fences.

Call Name: Misty
Breed: Irish Sporthorse
Height: 16.2hh
Coat Color: Dappled Grey
Age: 9 years
Discipline: Misty is strictly an eventer, though she
occasionally shows in showjumping and dressage
so as to stay tuned up.
Ownership Status: Misty is owned by
Annabelle Dunham, the co-owner of Crestwood
Estate. She was meant to be bred once or
twice to German Riding Pony stallions to
produce mid-size sporthorses, but Mrs. Dunham
found it more lucrative to lease the talented
mare to a young rider to build up her show
record first. Wynne recommended that Ty lease
the horse so as to gain back his confidence
over large fences. Truthfully, Ty is unsure about
her; having a large mare to ride feels almost
too reminiscent of his time with Bree, and he
feels almost unworthy of such a nice, expensive
horse.
Tack: Misty has a full set of dressage and jumping
tack, in black and brown respectively. She
wears a navy pad and bonnet for cross-country
and black boots with blue inlays. For dressage,
she wears a double bridle, and over fences she
wears a pelham with two reins.

-
Misty is a hardworking mare with a go-get-'em attitude; she is very forward and brave to fences and generally willing and forgiving under saddle. On the ground, she is very sweet and obedient; admittedly, however, she is not the brightest bulb on the block, and it can take her time to learn new skills. She gets along with everyone in terms of both horses and people, and rarely ever seems irritated or displeased. For a beginning rider, she can be somewhat overwhelming; she has a strong compulsion to "take care" of her rider, and sometimes will tune out her rider and make her own decisions (especially over fences). As well, when she is tired or overworked she can become shut down and unresponsive. It is important that her rider changes things up often to keep her engaged and ensure she is listening to her rider's commands to prevent her from going on autopilot.

โ†’ laurence has been about the fast side of life for as long as he can remember; fast cars, fast people fast horses. he's ambitious, loud mouthed and won't let you not know what's going on. he's flirty and sly. at first glance, he seems tired, grumpy and like he doesn't care about his job - that he just yells at his students. it's incorrect to say the least, he considers the job a blessing.
โ†’ born into his fathers horse breeding company, laurence has lived close to los angelous, still close enough to be on hollywood blvd every other night and still turn up at home at the end of the night without hassle. he/s expected to take over the company and continue to breed and train horses for sale. he's lived in wealth his entire life and doesn't really want to be at the estate, but under order of his father and his course needing him to work somewhere other than his future business, he's come to crestwood.

ใ€๏ผท๏ฝ™๏ฝŽ๏ฝŽ๏ฝ…ใ€€๏ผซ๏ฝ๏ฝ•๏ฝ’ใ€‘
    pronunciation: crudely, "win coor"
nicknames: none - prefers her students call her by her first name, since
      "Mrs. Kaur" feels too formal
    age: 36 years old
    gender: female
    height: 5'5"
    orientation: straight
    marital status: married
    position: riding coach for eventing
riding experience: eventing to intermediate level
    horse: Cici
In her younger days, Wynne was an incredibly bold eventer, rising all
the way to the intermediate level at age 23 and briefly competing on
the international circuit while also juggling her education as a part-
-time student. She soon met her husband, Teddy, at a local cafe, and
they were engaged within a year as Wynne continued to push herself to
new heights, literally and figuratively, on the cross-country field. At
age twenty-five, however, she suffered a terrible riding accident that
shattered her collarbone and broke her left shoulder. Knowing she was
newly married and wanted to have kids, she decided she could not risk
another accident of that magnitude and elected to lease her

competition horse to a young rider. She continues to event but refrains from any level higher than novice. For quite some time after earning her degree, she worked as a vet tech to make ends meet along with the riding instructor job; Crestwood was just the break she needed to start teaching full-time. Wynne still owns two off-the-track thoroughbred geldings, Gallant and Civ, who she competes with on occasion; however, they were being leased to two young riders at the old stable when she left, and she didn't have the heart to take the horses away from them. As such, the horses will remain at that stable until the riders outgrow them, graduate, or purchase horses of their own.
-

Wynne is naturally incredibly compassionate and caring, having worked
with both children and animals from a young age. She tends to be seen
one of two ways by her riders; either she becomes a comforting "mom"
figure, or she's uncool and generally boring. Wynne's actually very
funny and has a sailor mouth in private, but around her team she tries
to promote an encouraging sense of team spirit. As a coach, her style
is very dependent on the rider; for small children and more anxious
riders, she is super soft, gentle, and full of praise; for her more
experienced riders, she'll often throw in a joke at their expense along
with her instructions.
Wynne does get stressed very easily, to the point that her older riders
are sometimes comforting her at shows. Truth be told, she doesn't
know that she's prepared to work as a full-time coach, especially at
such a historically high-profile stable. Her worrying, as such, tends to
bleed into careless emails that leave out crucial details such as
departure times and trailering configurations, or incessant nitpicking
at her riders about ultimately unimportant matters. As well, Wynne
has an extremely strict policy on bullying and general rudeness at her
barn; she undoubtedly has an abrasive side that comes out in force if
she senses someone on her team isn't treating everyone with the
respect they should. While this is a good trait in theory, in reality it
often promotes resentment and generally worsens the situation,
especially when the riders involved don't fully trust her.
Likes:
    - Wynne is a dressage rider before she is a jumper, and there is
nothing that delights her more than a student willing to discuss
dressage theory with her. She is an avid reader of all genres, but
some of her staples are works on classical and modern dressage
and general proper schooling of the horse.
    - Following on the last point in general, Wynne loves to read.
Book recommendations are the key to her heart.
    - Wynne lives on a combination of chocolate and coffee. On the
topic of food, however, she is a huge sucker for cheese,
    especially brie.
    - She loves to experiment on horseback; she's dabbled in
everything from combined driving to working equitation. She'll
take any opportunity she can get to do something different with
    horses.
Dislikes:
    - Before moving to Crestwood, Wynne lived in an apartment
people directly under a group of tenants that blasted boy band
music at all hours of the day. She now has a Pavlovian-
-conditioned rage response to the Backstreet Boys.
    - Impatience is one of Wynne's biggest pet peeves, both on and
off of the horse. Riders who refuse to take time to warm up and
cool down, or to teach their horses or themselves new things, are
    particularly frustrating to her.
    - Unnecessary formality genuinely weirds Wynne out; she actively
encourages her riders not to call her "Mrs. Kaur" or "Mrs. K"
because it has never felt right to her, as her first teaching job
was coaching teenagers who, at the time, were only two or three
    years younger than her.

Wynne adopted Cici - a gawky five-year-old at the time - from a local horse rescue. She'd been living in a hay field for her entire life with a herd of other neglected horses, almost completely feral. Truth be told, nobody is entirely sure what she is; some swear that she's a pure American Cream Draft, while others (like Wynne) believe she may be an unusually-colored warmblood/draft cross due to her nice movement and the rarity of the former breed. She's never been gene-tested, nor does Wynne really care to; what matters to her is that her big mare is happy. And boy, is she; Cici spends most of her days asleep in the pasture, so much so that several concerned riders have come to Wynne fearing that she has died when she is, in fact, having an excellent sunbathing session. All-around, Cici is a very lazy, gentle type, though it surprises some to learn that she was actually a spirited handful in her younger years. Nowadays, she packs around the youngest lesson kids without complaint. She primarily serves as Wynne's dressage horse and, when she isn't plodding around and refusing to pick up her pace, she's actually quite strong and has scored very well at the lower levels. She's also Wynne's grass-powered personal transport on the cross-country course, and every now and again Wynne will pop her over a small fence (usually triggering Cici to run and buck for approximately 0.2 seconds before tiring out and returning to the grass). Predictably, she's about exactly as smart as the sack of grain outside of her stall (everybody knows this and adores her anyhow), so she is very liable to unwittingly step on precious toes, but she hasn't spooked at anything in several years and is about the most bombproof horse on the property.

Breed: unknown (American Cream Draft or
warmblood/draft cross suspected)
Height: 16.3hh
Coat Color: gold champagne
Age: 13 years
Tack: Cici almost always rides in the widest dressage saddle Wynne owns, along with a sky blue
saddle pad. Her dressage bridle matches well with the ensemble, pure black in color, its browband
bejeweled with bright blue rhinestones. When on cross-country excursions, Wynne puts a black all-
-purpose saddle on her instead and bedecks her in wrap-around and bell boots that match her
saddle pad.
