Lions are apex predators, kings and queens of the savannah and gods among prey.
Or so they thought.

Long has the Pride ruled the savannah, from the endless golden fields to the sparse acacias
on the edge of the grasslands to the rocky crevasses of the river gorges.

At least, until Mpike, wisest of the wise, truly ancient shaman of the Pride, spoke to the
stars as she was dying, and they told her of something on the horizon. Something dark and
dangerous, something that could destroy the world as we know it. Mpike's loyal apprentice
told the Pride king and queen of her dying words, sharing with them her visions of the world
if the Pride took no action, of disease and famine and a black sky, of the death of the sun.

What are we supposed to do about it, the pride leaders asked.

With Mpike's dying breath, she whispered: "Sacrifice your pride."
