the steady crinkling of leaves beneath something can be heard throughout the n
ight. the yips of a fox nearby as it continues on its hunt. down below lurks an an
imal as it stalks its prey, moving fast and with lethal intent. a terrified squeak b
reaks the silence of the night. a disturbance in the air causes the slumbering bir
ds to leave their nests and enter the skies and then the silence returns. the sou
nd of crickets could be heard now, as the predator returns to its home. paws spl
ashing through the shallow water of the stream as the feline entered the camp,
leaving its prey with the others before returning to their watch. as the moon ro
se high in the sky, a new sight awaited. the soft flutter of thousands of wings as
the blue butterflies emerged from the trees, migrating again at the end of leaf-
fall. the sense of peace they give has not been broken until now, as a large figur
e lumbered forward and out of the shadows, its presence only known to those of
kit tales to scare them. the creature known to the clan as the yasuxe made its a
ppearance. it killed the two warriors, leaving only traces of fur behind as it took
their bodies to who knows where. was this creature real? or was there a true th
reat that the cats have yet to know about?

breezeclan territory is rather vast. mostly forest with a plethora of water sourc
es. the clan's primary diet is fish year round though they still hunt for mice, vol
e, shrew, squirrels, and small birds. of course with such a territory with rich res
ources often has other predators. black bears and coyotes are the main threats
to the clan cats. though large birds of prey tend to pick off any young felines or
kits if able. the clan's camp is located near a clearing of close knit trees. brambl
es and thorns surround it. there are currently two entrances and exits, the main
one is closest to the warriors den. the second located at the back of the medici
ne cat dens for emergencies. located near the leader's den is a large boulder th
at is used for meeting etc. the medicine cat den is located beside the nursery
and the elders den. the leaders den is located near the far left of the camp. pr
ey is kept in a small hollowed tree stump to prevent predatory birds from swoo
ping into the camp. a local lake is near the far east of the territory where a wat
er fall feeds into. behind it is the moonstone, where the leader and medicine ca
t share tongues with their ancestors.


the yasuxe is a tale that many queens and elders use to scare kits into behaving
on most occasions. that being said the tale speaks of a large dark brown colored
beast that lurks in the night. its fangs as long as a cats leg and his mouth bigger
than a cat's head. the animal walks only on four legs and has two beady eyes th
at reflect in the night. it has a rather foul scent, one of death and despair. it p
reys on anyone without any sort of reason, striking at night and then disappear
ing without a trace. it is said to live in a large cave where it takes its victims t
o devour them. of course the tale is retold in many different ways but cats hav
e gone missing before over the season without an explanation, only a clump of
fur left behind. this though, is the first time anything has struck so close to th
e home of the felines. there is no tale of how to beat nor kill the yasuxe, mak
ing it almost invincible to the young mind with its thick pelt and large appear
ance.

the warm wind of the morning stirred the long furred tom, causing him to open his lids, revealing the amber gaze that hid behind them. with that said, it had been only two days since the two warriors on the night watch had gone missing and the deputy knew not what the cause of the disappearance was. the clan of course was high in superstition, the kit tales he had heard himself of the yasuxe being heard around the camp more often then not. the tom slowly pushed himself up to his paws, riding himself of his own worrying thoughts as he groomed the moss out of his fur. when he was satisfied with this, he stood, glancing around at the sleeping cats around him before carefully making his way out of the den.

the bright light caused him to squint at first, his eyes adjusting to that of the current lighting instead of the dim lighting of the den. as he looked around the camp, he noticed not many cats were awake at the time, though there were not many of them to begin with. the black and white feline gave his chest fur a few licks as he sat down on his haunches, knowing very well patrols would be needed once everyone was awake.

she had woken before the sun had peaked over the horizon. that being said, the young feline was out of camp already, despite the amount of caution that the clan had and the disapproval of being out alone. she padded through the territory, enjoying the warm temperature of day. the ruddy ticked tabby made her way to one of the many water sources on the territory and upon reaching it, she crouched down to take a drink. she was sure her mentor would be slightly upset with her for leaving without anyone or sticking around until they were awake but she honestly did not care.

foxpaw looked at her reflection in the water for a moment before she sighed. best she start hunting and not turn up to camp without anything to show for it after all. the molly pushed herself back up to her paws and scented the air, her mouth slightly open. the breeze brought her the fresh scent of a bird that was not too far from her. she moved forward, as quiet as she could, her green gaze searching for the source of the scent. it only took her a few minutes to spot it momentarily as it hopped along, its beak pecking at the ground for bugs and whatever else birds ate. she lowered herself into a hunter's crouch and stalked forward, careful of her footing.

she drew closer by the second and when the bird paused, she stilled and waited until its attention was elsewhere again. a few more steps and she was within a leaping distance to pounce on her prey. she steadied her weight and prepared herself before she took a leap forward, her claws unsheathed as they sunk into the bird's wings.

Honeymist had been awake for some time now, restlessly going over her herb storage. She'd counted through them at least five times now, and still, she found herself going over her stockpile for a sixth. The she-cat couldn't help herself ever since the disappearances two days earlier. It's in Honeymist's compassionate nature to worry herself sick. She was one of the oldest cats in the clan, had seen the majority of her clanmates grow from kit to apprentice to warrior and was heartbroken at losing any and terrified at the notion of losing more. As much as Honeymist wanted to help, as a medicine cat, it wasn't her place to search for the missing felines or even patrol for potential threats. All she can do is make sure she's prepared herself for the worst.

"Let's see.." Honeymist whispered to herself, being careful not to wake her sleeping apprentice. "goldenrod, chervil, comfrey roots..." she paused in her counting as she eyed over a pile of different herbs she had grouped. She scanned the collection carefully before finally landing her gaze on a large-leafed plant. "And of course, dock." She muttered to herself before letting out a sigh and finally sitting down to rest for a moment, looking tenderly at Smokepaw sleeping nearby. She debated waking the young apprentice to go over the organized group of wound treatment herbs but eventually decided she'd let him sleep in a bit longer as she began back to work counting and recounting the herbs, testing herself on the uses of each plant.

Aspenstorm had had a fitful sleep, having nightmares of the yasuxe. She lay there, trying desperately to fall back asleep if not for a moment longer, regretting the fact that she had been stuck on thinking of the yasuxe since the two warriors had vanished only two days ago. Her mind was stirring about what could have happened to them when she heard someone else waking up, and opened her bright green eyes to see Larksong waking up and leaving the warrior's den. Aspenstorm yawned and rose herself, making her way around the sleeping figures of the other cats so as not to wake them. She stepped outside the den into the cool morning air, blinking away the brightness of the morning sun.

She sat next to Larksong and began to groom herself, glancing over at him every now and then. She could see the same troubled look on his face that she knew she had as well. He must have been thinking of the same things. Not one to express her superstitions, she decided to talk about someone else. "Did you sleep well, Larksong?" she mewed in question, glancing over at the rustling in the medicine cat den and then back to Larksong.
