Dragons. For centuries that word was passed around, generation to generation. Tales of ferocious beasts, who breathed fire and killed everything in sight. Dragons became a horror story, used to get children to eat their vegetables. 'Eat them or the dragon will get you.'
But the children laughed, 'Dragons aren't real!'
Oh, but they are. Out of the ashes, rose the first dragons. For once again, the dragons would walk the world.
When humans found them, there was no time wasted.
"Kill them all! Burn them, stake them, don't let them survive!" The dragons tried to thrive, oh they did. But the humans had technology, they had guns. For years, the dragons who were left alive were chained up in yards, the fire within their bodies withered out. People payed large amounts of money to come and see the ferocious beasts, who were now nothing but large, winged lizards.
And then came a day when the dragons said, that's enough. They were not going to be prodded, they were not going to be stared at, they were going to rise and fulfill what they came back to do. To thrive. So, with the last amount of energy, and a silent signal passed from dragon to dragon around the world, they beat their wings. They thrashed their claws. And slowly, the fire within in them built up until they could breathe it again. And they escaped.
The dragons flew far away, further then any human has ever ventured. They found a deserted island, a huge deserted island. Forests, mountains, lakes, caves, it was perfect. That is where they stay now. Away from the humans, away from technology. This is where they thrive.
This is where they wait until they can take over the world.
we will rise
