Crookedtail smiled as Ripplebreeze accepted her offer. She stood back up and gently cuffed Ripplebreeze behind the eat before bounding off towards the camp entrance. "Come on then!" She called back to him, swishing her tail to the side before making her way over to past a few trees after the camp entrance. She jumped up on top of a rock a bit off to the side and laid there briefly, waiting for Ripplebreeze to catch up. She wriggled her haunches, quietly, as she perked her ears and kept her tail still, waiting for Ripplebreeze to pass by. Why was she going to pounce on him? She didn't really think about that. For some reason, it was just what came to mind.

Come on, Ripplebreeze... Let's see if you see this coming... She purred mentally, doing her best to stay silent as energy surged through her paws. It felt nice to be out of camp, not on a hunting or border patrol. Fernpaw was also good company, of course, but it was nice to spend some time with a warrior. Or in this case, planning on scaring him out of his pelt or making him think he was being attacked.

His stride was a lot slower than Crookedtail’s, padded along swiftly behind her. She exited the camp, and he soon followed. However he did not see her jump up and crouch on the upcoming rock. His eyes were focused on the scenery in front of her. When he rounded the one tree, he stopped and glanced around. Where did she go? His eyes darted around the scenery around him. Arching his muzzle upward, he sucked in the forest’s sweet aromas to try and figure out where his companion had gone. He started moving into a slow stride, following the fresh trail Crookedtail had left for him. Ripplebreeze had always excelled in tracking, making him the great hunter he was today. However, his tracking skills wouldn’t be of much use to him as he was completely unaware of the she-cat directly above him, ready to pounce. Lifting his nose from the ground, he looked around. She should be right here… Now he was confused- Where had she gone?

Slowly, Crookedtail stalked forward, looking down at Ripplebreeze and honestly feeling a great deal of satisfaction with the fact he hadn't seen her yet. It was only a matter of time, however, for that to happen, so the she-cat couldn't afford to hesitate or take too long.

"Gotcha!" She yowled happily as she pounced on top of Ripplebreeze's back, landing squarely on his shoulders with a triumphant look on her face. A loud purr rumbled from her throat as she playfully batted at the tom's ears before lightly biting his scruff. Surely he would be able to shake the she-cat off, but she was having fun.

The tom heard the playful yowl, but there wasn’t enough time for him to turn around and stop the friendly assault. Ripplebreeze yelped in surprise at the sudden contact on his back, knocking him down onto the ground. It didn’t hurt him at all, just knocked the air from his lungs for the shortest second. He hit the ground with an oof, followed by a purr. He certainly wasn’t expecting that. He felt the playful nip at his neck- showcasing Crookedtail’s playful attitude. He managed to somewhat roll his body over so he could see the she-cat standing on top of him. “Wasn’t expecting that.” He purred in amusement, lightly pawing her ear back. “I didn’t even see you coming.” He congratulated her, before gently shaking her off and rising to his paws. “Not many cats have been able to sneak up on me like that.” His tail flicked back and forth with amusement, and his tone was gentle.

Crookedtail was quite pleased with herself when Ripplebreeze fell over onto the ground. She shook her head when he pawed her ear, still purring, and stumbled a bit to the side when shaken off. "Well, I am a pretty good hunter," she meowed, sitting down to lick her paw and clean her ears briefly. Then she stood back up and shook off any dirt that got stuck in her pelt. "It seems that I can hunt mice, squirrels, and Ripplebreeze~" she teased lightly before she began walking through the forest, flicking her tail to gesture Ripplebreeze to follow. "Not many cats can sneak up on you?" she meowed with a mischievous look at Ripplebreeze before adding, "I think I'm the only cat that can. I'll be remembered in history as the only cat to ever successfully sneak up on Ripplebreeze."

Leafstar cringed at Redstrike's reaction to what she said. At first, it had stripped away all of everything in his expression except for wide-eyed shock. He couldn't believe what she'd said; she almost couldn't, either, really. It implied that- that-

But Leafstar couldn't bring herself to think it, or it might start actually seeming real. All she could do was watch helplessly, on the brink of crying, as Redstrike slowly processed everything, the anger she knew well and expected coming back full force when he finally made it to what the real problem was. However, she didn't expect what he said, or for him to just... walk out.

"Wait, Redstrike, you can't-" she pulled up short, closing her eyes and taking in a deep breath. She couldn't word it that way."Just... I know I don't deserve to ask any more of you, but please, please try not to judge her... she didn't seem to know that I-" Leafstar stopped herself abruptly, looking around. "It's not her fault. Just remember that," Leafstar murmured before turning back around and collapsing onto her nest in the back of the boulder, suddenly feeling exhausted.

What was she going to do?

There were some cats that Ripplebreeze just loved to be around. He always had a good time with them, never a boring moment- Crookedtail was one of those cats. He always seemed to be in a good mood when surrounded by her playful and happy energy- more so than any other cat. “Yes, yes you are.” He complimented, beginning to shake and clean his dirt-coated pelt. His tongue lapsed up and down his chest, quickly grooming his fur back to it’s original state. When she began to pad off, he scurried to his paws and followed behind. “Ah yes… The wild Ripplebreeze. Such a dangerous and scary creature.” The tom chuckled, bending his back legs and pouncing forward onto the ground. His paws rose up and struck the ground gently- as if attacking it. “Hold that title close, for I don’t plan on it happening again.” He teased back, bumping bodies with Crookedtail, playfully nudging her.

Somewhere inside his mind, he felt himself slowly falling for the she-cat. Love wasn’t something he normally thought about, always being focused on one thing only- His clan. There wasn’t really any time for love during his busy life of protecting and feeding his clan, but now his mind was opening up to the idea of settling down and starting a line of kin of his own. However, that was only if Crookedtail shared the affectionate emotion he felt towards her. If there was one thing he failed at, it was being able to interpret how other cats felt about him.

Crookedtail still hadn't stopped purring by the time that Ripplebreeze scurried after her. The compliment was definitely welcome, although different than her mother, Doveflight, she wasn't about to boast and say there was no reason for any cat to say otherwise. Her mother always seemed to have a sharp tongue, at least since she had become an elder. Thankfully, Crookedtail simply acknowledged the compliment with a smile, her crooked tail shooting straight up into the air as she walked on.

When Ripplebreeze started to describe himself as a dangerous and scary creature, Crookedtail couldn't help but be amused, even more so when he pounced forward and seemed to playfully attack the ground. "I'm so terrified," she meowed, "I'm sure the floor will never threaten Ripplebreeze again, not after the beating it just got." Her words were soft and playful, and something she seemed to share with Ripplebreeze was a playful attitude. Clan duties were always very important, but there was no harm in taking the day lightly at times. The gray she-cat enjoyed the tom's company, so much that she wondered if they could be on a hunting patrol together, or a border patrol. Yes, those all seemed like good ideas. Perhaps she could share a word with Mousefur about being on the same patrol. Under what reason, though? Well, she wasn't quite sure. Did she need a reason to want to spend time with Ripplebreeze?

A gentle bump and nudge to the side of her body made Crookedtail aware that Ripplebreeze was already next to her, and she managed to take note of his words. She licked away a small speck of dirt from behind Ripplebreeze's ear and then chuckled. "I think you missed a spot," she pointed out before adding, "I'll cherish that title even when I walk with Starclan."

Hearing the teasing nature that laced Crookedtail’s voice caused the tom to burst with joy. She was clearly having a good time- as was he. That was all he wanted amongst him and his clan mates, to be happy and having a good time. Ripplebreeze puffed his chest out, and starred down at the ground. “Yes, It knows its superior!” He chuckled, and allowed the she-cat to flick a small fleck of dust off his earlobe. He walked beside her keeping up the same moderate pace, their pelts accidentally brushing here and there. He didn’t take notice, for he was too concentrated on the conversation going on amongst the two of them. Then she mentioned Starclan. “Well, you won’t need to worry about walking amongst our ancestors anytime soon.” He assured her. “You’re a young and vibrant cat, and Starclan better keep their paws off till you’re a grumpy old elder.” He half-teased. No cat deserved to join the ranks of Starclan at such a young age- and he felt bad for those who had. His eyes shifted over to look at Crookedtail. So happy and full of energy- even as a warrior. She deserves a long happy life. He thought to himself.

Crookedtail didn't take much notice of her pelt occasionally brushing against Ripplebreeze's. She didn't mind, and was busy enjoying the conversation with the silver tabby tom. She took a moment to look into his eyes as he spoke, observing their bright, blue color. They seemed to shine with happiness. It was definitely an attractive trait in a cat; to be happy and content with life, even through all the hardships and responsibilities of being a warrior.

"I don't think Starclan would want such a bouncy warrior amongst their ranks just yet," she assured Ripplebreeze, "I don't have any plans on leaving, not anytime soon. I have much to accomplish still." Her tone was simple and determined. She truly didn't plan on doing anything risky to start her journey to Starclan. There were still so many things to do... And kits, one day she would need kits. Shortwhisker, her sister, had been taken by twolegs, and her parents hadn't had any other litter, so it was up to Crookedtail to continue the lineage. Maybe someday that would be accomplished. "I have much to accomplish still," she repeated, her thoughts now wondering if she would have kits.

However, Crookedtail's thoughts were cut abruptly at the sound of small rustling under some bushes. She crouched instinctively and swiveled her ears towards the sound, her crooked tail flicking down as a gesture for Ripplebreeze to do the same. It seems they might bring some fresh-kill back to camp upon their return. It was getting dark, so this would likely be the last piece of prey that any cat could find .
