((Ack, I didn't realize that I was the one holding everyone up!))

~|Hrafn|~Hunter|~ 46 Summers|~

The news was welcome. Hrafn was becoming quite restless just sitting around doing nothing. Granted, once they reached their destination, they would be sitting around doing much the same. There would be territory to claim and borders to mark and hunting to be done, but they'd been doing those things for the past few weeks. Why were his paws aching to continue their journey if the endpoint was the same as now?

As Resin wandered off to scout, Hrafn began gathering wolves as she'd requested. Soon everyone was up and ready to move out. Just as they'd moved from the clearing where their temporary home had been, an odd sort of howl went up. Everyone was instantly on alert. Raka, who had grown like a weed as pups were prone to do, ran towards Hrafn and Ahote. He'd pretty much adopted the pup as his own. They spent the majority of their time together and Hrafn was teaching him the ways of being a wolf. A strong wolf. The big black brute listened to the smaller black pups words and nodded.

Xani showed her face. She'd been acting strange as of late. Avoiding him, avoiding them all. His gaze narrowed slightly as she, once again, meandered off on her own. Ahote's words reached his ears and Hrafn nodded. Looking down upon Raka, Hrafn bumped heads lightly with him. "You listen to your uncle Ahote. I'll be back as soon as I can."

With a burst of strength, Hrafn rocketed from the clearing, following Xani's footprints. It didn't take him long to catch up to her. It seemed as though they were both following the trail of prints that Resin had left prior. Casting his dark amber gaze towards Xani, he spoke. "What's with you, lately? Is it the pup? Does he make you uncomfortable?" The big black brute was searching for answers. He'd done nothing wrong that he could think of, so there had to be another reason, right?

A smell caught his nose and Hrafn instantly leaped in front of Xani, stopping her movement. "Stop!" Once they were still, the dark brute lifted his nose and tested the air. His eyes widened for a moment and he looked to the female beside him, his gaze intent. "Run back to the pack. Tell them not to come this way. The two-leggers have laid a trap for us." Taking a step forward, Hrafn ran his dark cheek over Xani's lighter one. "Be careful." Then, turning quickly, he ran off in search of their Alpha.

~|Pipaluk|~Female Ancestor|~

It was her day to watch over the ScarPaw wolves. Lucky for them, too. Gazing down into an endless, crystal clear pool, the young form of Pipaluk watched her family as they journeyed to their new home. The scene flashed red as it did when danger was present. On her feet in an instant, Pipaluk closed her eyes and allowed her ethereal self to dive into the pool. She was no more than a wisp, but it would be sufficient. It always had been before, anyway.

It didn't take her long to find Attican. He was the most perceptive wolf in the bunch. Coming up beside him, she spoke in a voice that only he would hear more than likely. "Danger again, my friend. Two-leggers up ahead. They have Resin." Though the situation pained her, she was sworn to do what was right for the pack, not just one wolf; even if that one wolf was her granddaughter. "Lead them wide, Attican. Wide around. Keep them safe." And with her energy depleted, Pipaluk's wisp disintegrated and was gone.

~|Resin|~Alpha Female|~ 40 Summers|~

Resin wasn't sure how long she hung there. All she knew was that her head hurt. A lot. She couldn't really tell if her leg hurt yet because everything was asleep and felt non-existent. Unconsciousness had come and gone. She was going through a bout of it when a voice called her back. Opening one citrine eye, she stared down upon the concerned for of Rhaigo. The hint of a smile curled up the corners of her maw. "Fancy meeting you here." Perhaps it was the rush of blood to her head, but the alpha felt a little funny.

"Can you get me down from here?" Her body was too heavy to try and swing her maw up to the thin piece that was holding her captive or else she would have tried. She also realized that she was quite a ways off of the ground and the fall might potentially harm her as well. "What a situation..." she mumbled to herself. She'd just been about to make another out of character comment when a scent pulled all of the humor from her. "Go, Rhaigo. Hide. Do whatever you need. Two-leggers are coming."

Sure enough, just as she spoke, leaves and branches began to rustle from a distance away. Their strange, garbled voices could also be heard. Again she addressed her packmate. "Go and hide. I don't think that they'll kill me." This was a trap and not just for her. It was a trap for the pack. As the two-leggers began to emerge, Resin noted that they wore branches and leaves upon themselves rather than the skins of animals as they had before. They were trying to hide in plain sight.

They seemed to laugh as they emerged into the clearing and saw her dangling in the air. One of them prodded at her with the pointy end of a long stick and the grey and black female snarled and snapped the end off of the stick with her jaws. This caused them to laugh louder.

One of them called and more two-leggers came forward, bringing an odd contraption with them. It was made of thick, thorn covered sticks and was wound together by vines, it seemed. It was some sort of box. They placed it beneath where she was hanging and one of the beasts went behind the tree from which she was hanging. The beast grunted and Resin slowly felt herself descending. They were lowering her into the strange branch and vine box. She struggled, but it was to no avail. Eventually she was inside of her new prison and the two leggers scrambled to place a top upon it.

No longer being held upside down, Resin fought to stand. Her legs were shaky and she couldn't put any weight on her right hind leg. Her hip throbbed immensely and the characteristically strong female whined aloud at the pain. She still couldn't feel her toes. At least her thin captor had loosened around her ankle and the blood was slowly finding its way back to her paw.

One of the horrid creatures stabbed Resin in the shoulder with a pointed stick and she yelped aloud. They decided that her pack would be able to find her more easily if she bled, which she now did. One beast came too close and she snapped her jaws through the bars of her prison, but only managed to rip the fur and branches from its odd, furless body. The other two-leggers hooted in laughter. Blood dotted her maw from pinpricks made by the thorn covered vines.

Now that their job was done, one of the two leggers brushed the snow with a pine branch, erasing the majority of their tracks. It wouldn't erase their smell, however. Soon they had retreated, but she doubted they were far off at all. Casting her gaze about the clearing, the Alpha searched for Rhaigo's gaze. Upon finding it, she simply shook her head, telling him not to try anything just yet. They were waiting for Great Wolves and he would be an easy target.

Xani
- Female - 21 - Beta -

As soon as Xani left the pack, a few different feelings hit her all at once. One was a spark of joy. She hadn't been able to run around as much lately due to the pack's inactivity. Now, with the threat from up ahead, she was running on a bit of adrenaline and it felt very good. While she simply wanted to get swept away in it all, she forced her mind to refocus on the activity at hand. As she did, another feeling crept into her. While the beta couldn't quite place it, she didn't like it at all. Her hackles were rising a bit and she felt very uneasy. Still, that didn't slow her pace at all as she flew over the snow.

Not a moment later, the sound of approaching paw prints alerted her to someone following. She huffed quietly as she realized that they belonged to Hrafn. As he reached her stride, she cast a glance over at him. As she locked eyes with him for only a brief second, something else muddled into her confused head and nearly made her miss his words. At those words, she felt her heart drop slightly. He sounded upset, and he had every right to be. But he thought it was the pup? Why would he think that? While Xani wasn't one to particularly like pups, she had no reason to hate Raka.

Before she could even begin to formulate a response, however, she nearly plowed into Hrafn. She stopped quickly, waiting for a reason as to why they had stopped. As Hrafn told them the reason, Xani's heart dropped further. More two leggers? This was bad. Very bad. She nodded, pausing as Hrafn rubbed cheeks. Just after he took off, she yelled after him, "I'll be back! I'll talk after this is over!"

Without waiting to see if he heard her or not, Xani turned and bolted back towards the pack. It only took a short while before she spotted Ahote. Skidding to a stop before him, she shook her head angrily. "Don't go this way, Ahote. Hrafn said there were... two leggers that way." She panted from exertion, pausing just a moment to catch her breath. "Go wide around, Ahote. If anything seems uneasy, go further. We will be able to find you. We don't want those beasts finding you." She spoke low enough so that the entire pack wouldn't hear her voice and worry too much.

Once she knew that Ahote had gotten the message, she turned, once more throwing herself into a sprint. Normally she would have saved her energy, but her adrenaline would give her enough energy to survive. The one thing on her mind was to protect everyone, though Hrafn selfishly popped into her mind before Resin. She growled, angry at herself. Once she reached the spot that Hrafn had stopped her at, she slowed dramatically to a quick walk.

Unsure of what to do, and not wanting to burst in and potentially harm anyone, she did what she did best: she sat down and howled. She howled loudly towards the two leggers, taunting them to chase her. She howled to Hrafn, almost apologizing for what she was doing. She didn't intend to get caught, but she would lead them on a merry chase. She would say she was pulling an Attican, if anyone asked. Tensing, she waited about 10 feet from the trees for any sign of movement.

Emotions:
Annoyed
Unable to hold his low, yet still unaudible growl, Raigho stayed where he was, staying hidden within the bushes as he somehow watched the unfair battle between the two leggers against his somewhat dizzy and weak alpha, ending with Resin sprawled across the ground panting as she bled out. Still watching, Raigho was about to unleash a quick yip, hoping to draw away the two leggers towards him, but before doing so, a familiar howl, one that sounded like the beta to be exact, erupted from nearby, one that forced the grey male to bristle as he thought,

'You bee brains?! You'll get caught, couldn't you have thought up of a smart move instead of opening that loud moth of yours.'

Only to hold back a growl of how foolish this wolf was being, whether it was from one of his packmates or a rogue. Raigho, slowly creeping away from his hiding place, his body low against the snow as he sly dragged himself someplace else, yet keeping his mind to knowing that he isn't going to abandon the alpha, whom still continued to lay where she was. Finally, after multiple attempts to keep his dragging from emitting any sound at all, he finally made his way to a closer location, one that allowed him to get closer to Resin and the two leggers, seeing that he might as well put this howling fool's plan to the test, hoping the beta's howl will draw away at least one of the hairless creatures.

If so, he will lunge forward and fight off the remaining one, hoping a nearby wolf will be nearby to drag away Resin if he is meant to battle with one of the two leggers. Breathing in the ice cold air as he stiffened his posture, allowing him better access to easily run up to one of the two leggers and chomp onto their thin limbs, Raigho awaits the signal, when one or both of the two leggers disappear. Shivering from the cold, secretly glad for his thick pelt as he waits for one of the strange creatures to leave, Raigho was able to make eye contact with the alpha, hoping his eyes, despise blank, would be able to tell her that she will be fine.

Яακα
\ Male / Loner \ 1.5 moons / With the Pack \ Hrafn /

As Raka looked from Ahote to Hrafn, he could already tell that they both knew something was wrong before he had said something. Ahote had taken charge, and Hrafn was going to go with who Raka learned was the beta of the pack to investigate. Hearing this, the black pup became tense and worried. Of course he and Hrafn were not always together, but there was not any danger or any reason to worry before.

Just before leaving, Hrafn bumped heads with him and instructed him to listen to Ahote. Raka nodded and watched his larger look-alike take off. He watched that direction for a minute before Ahote licked his head. The fighter was preparing to move the pack. Raka never really travelled long distances before, and was worried about getting left behind if he didn't keep up, but he knew that wouldn't happen. As the group started to move, Raka found the pace slightly fast. His legs weren't as long as the adults yet, so he had to speed up to a trot to keep up. He tried to stay as close as he could to Ahote, as he was really the only other wolf here that the young pup had any sort of bond with.

The farther away from their camp they got, the more worried Raka got. Hrafn had told him a little bit about the two-legged monsters, but Raka didn't think he'd actually potentially come in contact with one. Just the thought of two-leggeds capturing him made him want to run and hide. After a short while, sounds found their way to his ears. A few yelps from one wolf, a loud howl from another. Both came from wolves he knew but he was still learning to put voices to faces and couldn't tell who was who, Raka made his way to Ahote's side again. "Are the two-leggeds nearby? I heard yelping along with that howl." he asked, a bit of fear in his voice.

{{Apologies for delay, had to travel and move back into my apt for (my last!) school season. This has been written over a number of days just whenever I could get the chance so I apologize if it appears choppy.}}

Attican
73 - Brute - Keeper

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

As Attican had approached the Ranks it appeared that an etheral shift in the entire Pack changed, some unknown sensation overwhelming their instincts. After he had spoken there were hardly any words exchanged, just a mutual understanding of what was going to take place. Questions bubbled in his head of course, but there was no real time to try and puzzle them to conclusion as already the Elder found himself to the back of a moving ScarPaw pack. Sometimes instincts took a driving force and if it wasn't just his alone, then something must truly be at paw.

But one question rang out the most. Where was Resin?

...

They had been moving for a short while, Attican once again doing a headcount for the mass group. It did not go unnoticed that some few were missing. Besides the obvious of Resin, Hrafn, and Xani, it was noted almost instantly that Lani was now nowhere in sight. She hadn't been since her little tail flick to his nose... Also Raigo and that new littler blonde wolf that Lani sometimes spoke to were gone. His unsettled feeling only exacerbating due to this. Where were they? Already he had felt uneasy about the situation of moving, and the lack of knowledge of the true nature of the situation was only adding into the mix.

However, unbeknownst to him, a former friend was watching over the wolves of ScarPaw...

There was a light breeze to their backsides, the pine needles of the trees creating a faint whooshing sound as it blew through the branches and across the ground. Trying to keep his head from wandering to unpleasant places Attican attempted to focus on the sound instead, his ears swiveling to the gusts. Yet something didn't seem... right. As he walked he could have sworn he 'saw' something, but as it was there were nothing but wolves in front of him. What was stranger was that it almost felt as if his lost eye was trying to seek something, despite the fact of course that it no longer existed. The brute shook his head, snorting out a breath of air.

During the time that the Pack had spent in the clearing Attican had worked himself out quite often, learning the new capabilities and detriments on his new line of vision. His neck certainly had more work to do now, compensating now for both the original right and now left sides of him. Also, without two eyes his depth perception had gone down dramatically and he had to learn how to compensate and better judge his surroundings. But overall the Elder had done well. A few times he bumped into close proximity trees, but rather quickly he gained skill. Be it as it may though, he was about to experience something that he had yet to encounter.

Without any given warning, on his left-pawed side, a white blob appeared, only visible due to the blackness that the side now lived with. Even with the intense color contrast the apparition was faint- a little gray and white whisp. He suddenly became very aware of his heartbeat. The whisp was essentially shapeless, more or less a rectangular blob with a circle on top. It wasn't anything.. well, wait.. well with I guess if you used your imagination that could be a head?.. Eh, kinda like some sort of curled up animal? Wait no.. well.... yeah.... Regardless of its shape it was getting closer. As he focused on the ghostly figure Attican didn't notice that the real world eye fuzzed out automatically.

"Danger again, my friend. Two-leggers up ahead. They have Resin."

The Keeper balked back, completely immirsed in the sudden voice. Somewhere in the back of his head he knew the voice to only be that of Pipa, regardless of the youthful years and tone she has regained. But all of that didn't matter, it was the words that the dear Elder was locked on.

"Lead them wide, Attican. Wide around. Keep them safe."

All at once the tempered and kind-looking Keeper turned into a formidable, dangerous creature. Beyond his first questioning of what the white apparition was, he had no time to truly think about the nature of it due to its the reasoning. Nor did he notice how it just disappeared in an instant and his good eye's vision was once again returned. None of it mattered. There was danger... Resin was in danger.

In a blink Attican's gentle composure puffed away and was replaced by gnarled, ferocious demon with facial scars to match. His head snapped towards the trees, lips pulled back and displaying the deep contrast of his white teeth and pink gums. Dormant instinct shot up into the Keeper's chest like a geyser, his former years of being a Fighter suddenly leaping into his adrenalized bloodstream. The aura around him screamed severity. This was different than the reaction he felt when he found the two-leggers tracking down the movements of the Pack. Last time it had been fear of what could happen; this time it was anger for what was happening. He felt healthy now and well and it took great strain to keep himself put, his feet locked mid-stride. His instinctual urge was to bound away into the wilderness and eradicate whoever and whatever was posing threat to Resin, but Attican knew that at this time that was not his place. He couldn't fight. 'Duty..' his head spoke, swallowing tension.

But there was still work to be done.

"Vali!" He snarled, his voice most uncharacteristically venomous. Surely it took everyone by surprise, not only by the action, but the fact that all the wolves had been turned and following Ahote as leader with the Keeper taking rear so they saw no leadup to that point. Almost in an instant the silent brute pushed his way to be in front of him, bright eyes glistening and wide. Attican was suddenly terrifying. "Are you willing to fight and can I trust you to help get a job done?" Despite his rage the Elder tried very hard to articulate his words enough to display that this ferocity was not directed towards the Hunter, even though they yet had not been explained either. His amber eye sought Vali's own, not even a head nod needed to convey the brute's 'reply.' "Good." He swallowed, teeth baring again as his maw opened. "Then I need you to hunt."

Not sparing a moment for explanations Attican used his itching muscles and ran forward, quickly overtaking and passing the now standing group. Vali followed awkwardly behind, still unsure of really what was going on. "Ahote," he called, his gaze swiftly locating the patchworked brute. His voice had gotten a bit clearer, trying to stay as calm as possible. "Resin has been captured. We need to both fight and divert route. Do you need me to lead and you go?"

No he could not fight... for right now.

Xani's howl cut through the trees, only amping his tension. He cursed under his breath, the fur on his hackles and haunches raised high and straight. This was getting complicated. One thing was for sure though, Attican would stop at nothing and do anything to see his step-in 'daughter' safe.

"I'll be whatever you need me to be."

Pilot
32 - Fae - No Rank

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Small feet crunched over the snow, little postholes left in Pilot's wake to mark where she went. There were older tracks of hers from before, this 'trail' having been created and frequented by her day to day outings. The trees were familiar as well as were the bushes and fallen logs, everything leaving the fae to be at ease and comfortability. She tried to enjoy it, knowing that very soon she would be melded along all the others in their trek to a homeland.

A flock of ravens flew above from the direction of the mountains, their shadow casting for only a moment over the small Great Wolf before making their continual way. She craned her head and looked up at them, their feathered wings cutting perfectly though the air so that they made no sound as they passed. There were many times that Pilot had taken a rather affinity to the blackened birds, sometimes their directions pointing to a leftover kill that she could scavenge upon. Other times they posed as a bit of companionship, patiently waiting around a meal as she ate, squawking and cawing to each other in a language that they alone could understand one another in. Their beady eyes would look upon her inquisitively, heads tipping to the side in what she guess to be ponder. She'd like to think that if not for the language barrier between the two species that perhaps they could work as one.

It hadn't been very long that Pilot had observed these birds that an eerie faint howl met her sensitive ears. All at once the female was frozen, trying to figure if the call was friend or foe. She was alone and something of that nature was not exactly welcome to the ear, especially if it was a threatening one. However from the counts of reverberations, it seemed decently far away. It also wasn't in the location of ScarPaw so therefore wasn't a call for her and others to congregate for departure. No this was something different.

The sound itself was basically toneless, almost like a location call or something. She stayed still for a moment, waiting to see if there would be a return or continuation. She heard nothing. Confused, the fae took a step forward, realizing the trajectory of the call was also the same way that the ravens had been departing from. Someone was over there and was disturbing something, that was for sure. Her ears swiveled, picking up another sound.

Footprints.

The wolfess was sent scrambling, the sudden action of events sending her into high alert. Her feet scrabbled at the ground, suddenly unable to grab very much footing. Finally Pilot gained some traction and wheeling herself around she bound off her trail and into a thicker clot of bushes, intending to see who it was that was near her. However the reaction was rather unwarranted as not a minute went by before Lani's fluffy coat was seen loping on her trail. Immediately Pilot began to walk forwards again, letting herself be seen.

"Pilot, wait!"

She stopped completely, head tipped to the side.

"Did you hear that howl? That was Raigho... We should bring him in before he gets left behind."

So the call was from a Packmember. Raigho, Raigho... oh, yeah he was the other Hunter brute.

"Okay." Pilot replied simply, saddling herself to be near the white-pelted female's hip. The two started towards the call at a brisk pace, legs stepping in unison. "I didn't know who that was and it kinda made me nervous before. What is going on? Have we moved?"

Yet before Lani could speak a word, a long drawled howl to their left replied instead. Even newcomer Pilot knew of that voice to be of the Beta, Xani's. The female's silver eyes grew a bit wider, her tone changing to much more serious. "What's going on Lani?"

((Ah, you've reached your last year? Congratulations Jag! I hope it isn't as hard as my last year was...))

Ahote
Male | 46 | Fighter
>>>–––———<•>———–––<<<

Ahote plodded forward, head down in concentration and trusting that Attican was corralling the stragglers so that no one would be left behind. There was an overwhelming sense of malaise falling over him, and no matter how he tried to concentrate on his duties, he couldn't shake it. Resin's prints were clear in front of him, and it should have been a simple matter of following them, but he kept being drawn away, his eyes warily wandering the forest on either side as though he expected something to leap out at him at any moment.

Unfortunately for Ahote, that was exactly what happened, as Xani suddenly appeared before him in a huff and a spray of snow. Startling back, a growl arose in his throat before he recognized her, and he quickly ducked his head to show he meant no offense to the Beta. However, it seemed as though she was in far too much of hurry to even notice the sleight, and Ahote's eyes grew wide as she delivered her message. In response, he nodded sharply and she immediately set off once again. His fears realized, and now even more worried about those he knew were still out there, he could feel the fur on the back of his neck begin to stand on end. Resin was among those missing, and it would be a lie to say his heart didn't beat cold in his cheat at the thought.

Taking one quick look behind him, Ahote wordlessly turned off the path Resin had left, heading up hill and towards the jagged peaks that stood stark against the blue sky. Behind him, Xani's howl lifted up and he shook his head, knowing well enough that she would do all she could to distract them from the rest of the pack, the same way Resin had done after the fire. Having also heard her howl, the pup Raka made his way up to him again, and questioned him as he ducked through the trees and looked for footing as the ground grew steeper. It seemed as though the pup had already deduced their predicament, and he doubted the rest of the pack could be far behind him. Taking a deep breath, he met Raka's eyes for a moment before speaking, "Yes, that is what Xani said... We need to keep moving, and stay silent. Can you help me with that Raka? Pass back word that we must be quiet and not wander, not for anything," he said, trusting the little black pup would do what he could.

A commotion behind him reached Ahote's ears, and they tilted back towards it, listening but unwilling to look back. The sound quickly died down though, and was replaced by the sound of quick moving paws, and the Fighter inwardly kicked himself, wondering just who it could be that was coming up to the front. As the sound grew closer, he turned to face whoever it was, getting ready to tell them to keep quiet, but upon seeing it was Attican, he closed his mouth with a click.

The Keepers words hit Ahote like a stone, and he skidded to a halt, his eyes growing wide. Swinging his head to look Attican in the face, his pair of golden orbs meeting the Keeper's one with a look of disbelief. "What?!" he blurted out, and then quickly swallowed his words, quieting his voice. "How could you..." he began again, but upon taking in Attican's posture for the first time, he just shook his head. If anyone would know, it would be Attican. "Whatever, it doesn't matter... I'll go after her," he replied, as his heart gave him no other option. There was no way he could willingly keep moving away from Resin when she needed him. Already his fur was on edge, and Ahote's voice dropped into a growl. A former alpha and a fighter for many years, he was anything but small, and his angered posture made him look even larger. "Keep them moving upwards, I doubt the two-leggers would go that way. It must be hard to climb with only two feet to hold you up."

"Don't let them stop, not for anything. The two-legged monsters are clever and they may look for weakness and try to separate anyone who falls behind," Ahote said, turning back towards the pack. Pausing before Vali, he looked over his shoulder at Attican, his eyes holding a dangerous glint. "Send out the hunters, and leave none alive. We have shown mercy, and yet they still seek to kill. Show them the same brutality," he said, his words aberrantly dark for the normally humble and gentle wolf.

With that, Ahote bolted back through the pack, sending startled wolves skittering in his wake. There would be no holding him back now, and he hardly noticed the pull of the skin that was tight against his flank. As his pace increased, his gait would break and he would skip for a few steps before putting his rear leg back down, but he stubbornly forced it there, digging his claws in for purchase against the partially melted snow.

Lani
Female | 57 | Hunter
>>>–––———<•>———–––<<<

Having successfully located Pilot, Lani moved onward, easily picking up Raigho's scent on the wind and heading towards it. The golden fea readily agreed to help her look and that was good enough for Lani, but before she could answer, a howl split the air around them and she came to a sudden halt. There was no mistaking Xani's voice, that brutish Beta could sing like no other, and almost instantly her ears pressed down to the back of her skull. She was calling someone, something out to follow her, and that could only mean that the pack was in danger. Turning to look at Pilot, she shook her head, "I don't know, but we should find Raigho quickly and get the heck out of here," she said, and quickly turned, moving once again towards her fellow Hunter's scent.

Tracking was second nature to Lani, and she was just starting to fall into her own when she was suddenly stopped cold. The scent that met her nose was suddenly mixed with the bitter scent of two-leggers. Strange as it was, she knew it well as it had clung to Attican's fur for days after his encounter, and her lips curled up in distaste. Silently, she motioned for Pilot to move off into the underbrush, the way she would when they were close to their target on a hunt. Let the hunters become hunted, it would be best to not be seen.

Creeping forward silently, with her belly nearly touching the snow, Lani slowly followed Raigho's trail, a sense of foreboding settling in over her. Every errant noise, a misplaced footstep even a simple sigh of wind caused her to freeze, stomach pressed to the ground while her ears swiveled this way and that, straining for any hint of being followed. The last thing she wanted to do was walk into an attack, and as a hunter, she knew all to well that those she was trying to avoid may be lying in wait for her, unseen, and unnoticed until it was too late. Lani's only defense was her sensitive nose, and she alternated between lowering it to follow Raigho's trail and lifting it high to scent the shifting air for signs of danger.

Trusting Pilot to both follow and to keep on the trail on her own, Lani focused totally on the task ahead of her. She was almost painfully careful, and swung wide whenever the two-legged's scent became strong in the air, or she came across a track or mark, even if it was days old, and from the patter Raigho had taken, it appeared that he had done the same thing. Almost imperceptibly, the trees around them began to thin, and Lani came to a halt as she spotted cracks of blue sky showing through the trees ahead of her. Never in her life had se been so afraid of the sun. Her entire life, she had hunted with nothing more than her white pelt and the heaves in the ice to hide her approach, but the prospect of leaving the dense pines suddenly seemed terrifying.

By now, the scent of the two-leggers was strong in all directions, and Lani was having trouble focusing on keeping track of Raigho, but it certainly seemed as though he had passed out under the protection of the trees and towards the clearing. Carefully, she crept towards the edge, ducking her head to see what was through the trees. The sight that met her eyes made her breath catch in her throat. The monsters had Resin, and she was trapped in some sort of strange conglomeration of tree-parts and thorns. The stench of them was everywhere, and though there seemed to be no tracks, she had no doubt they were still nearby. After all, Resin didn't put herself in that thing. However, one question remained: where was Raigho? Had he been captured as well, or had he somehow managed to escape? Lani dearly hoped for the latter, as they would need all the help they could get if they were to rescue Resin.

Quickly backing up from the edge of the clearing, she looked to Pilot for a moment, longing to converse with the little golden wolf and come up with a plan as to what to do. Lani dare not speak though and instead she moved off again into the trees. Trying to think, she began to circle the clearing slowly, trying always to stay hidden, though it pained her as she seemed to move away from Raigho's scent. Fortunately, just as she was about to give up hope and move back towards the clearing, she caught a glimpse of his stony grey and cream pelt through the trees. Not wanting to risk calling out to him and knowing that he would hear them coming, she sidled up to him.

Barely able to stifle her relief, Lani greeted the stoic brute with a nudge to the shoulder and a tightly reigned in tail before setting in next to him to once again look out on Resin where she stood. Looking back to Pilot and then to Raigho, Lani wondered just what to do now. It was obvious that running to their Alpha's aide would be suicide, but at the same time, they couldn't just stand by and do nothing. If only they knew where the monsters were exactly, they could circle back and come up upon them from behind.

Wolf
Male | 20 | Straggler
>>>–––———<•>———–––<<<

Plodding along like the good little solder he was trying to be, Wolf was fairly oblivious to the tribulations of those who were attempting to lead him. As always, he had been caught up in his own thoughts, and hardly noticed when they turned off the trail they had been following to move upwards towards the mountain peaks. Even Xani's distant howl only penetrated so far into his absent-minded daydreaming, causing a ghost of a smile to pass over his maw before once again disappearing into his accustomed introspection.

Suddenly, a large wolf went charging past him, causing him to startle and finally breaking him out of his thoughts. Looking around, Wolf was just finally beginning to notice the unease around him when another wolf came running at him, forcing him to dive out of the way. Thoroughly perturbed and confused, he shook out his pelt and made his way up towards the font where the ones that seemed to be in charge were gathering. Spotting the big one with one eye, he made his way up to him, looking about at all the frightened faces around him. It was clear that he had missed something important, and though he felt a little sheepish about that, he hadn't the pride to wound by asking stupid questions.

Evening his pace with the elder's, Wolf looked at him with a sidelong glance for a moment. He hardly knew him, but it was clear that something had him up in tooth, and he hoped his questions wouldn't be taken the wrong way. "Umm... Yes, hello there... I umm... Was wondering where we were going? The mountains here are very tall, we'll never make it across this way," he said, his voice faltering at the end, as though he were unsure of himself. Really, Wolf had no right to tell them what they could and couldn't do, but he had tried to climb many of them during his years of boredom, and never got much higher than the place where the trees ended. Having said his bit, Wolf looked at the other expectantly, clearly curious. The fear of the others had not yet touched him, and all he wanted to do was help.

Ahote
Male | 46 | Fighter
>>>–––———<•>———–––<<<

Charging back the way they had come, Ahote soon reached the point where they had split off from Resin's trail. He was furious, and his blood pounded in his ears as he ran. How dare they come after his pack and his Alpha. Growling silently under his breath, he swore that they would pay, should they so much as harm one hair on her pelt, he would make them pay. It had been a long time since Ahote had felt such fury, such consuming fire, that it pushed him harder. He has spent so many years wallowing in his guilt and sorrow that he had forgotten what real anger felt like.

Struggling not to let the emotion blind him, Ahote followed Resin's trail only up until the point where Xani and Hrafn had split off of it. Making a snap decision, he went the opposite direction they had taken and slipped into the woods. Far too large to move as silently as one of the hunters, he could still track his quarry and his nose topped to the ground in search of trail. His worry over Resin had made his choice for him, and there was no going back now, and keeping her safe meant eliminating the enemies of ScarPaw. Thus it was not her trail he sought, but that of the two-leggers, and it was not long before he caught wind of that which he searched for.

The creature had taken pains to cover their tracks in the snow, dragging something behind them in much the way Lani, Hrafn and Pilot had when they helped the pack escape the first time. Unfortunately for them, this did absolutely nothing to cover their scent and Ahote was able to follow them as well as if they had left a sign telling him which way they had gone. The scent grew stronger, and he could hear the creature's shuffling footsteps ahead of him. Immediately, the Fighter sunk down to the ground and crept forward silently, letting each twig and needle of the undergrowth slide along his pelt, moving like a ghost through the trees.

Soon enough the monster was in sight, and Ahote stopped, eyes locked on the creature. This one was female, and smaller than the ones he had faced with Resin and Attican. Her strange, elongated paws were busy twisting a long length of fiber this way and that, making it longer with each pass, leaving the sharpened piece of antler that she had laying uselessly on the ground beside her. She made no indiction that she felt his presence, and Ahote crept closer, ears pinning back when she began to hum. The scene may have been interesting, had he not been determined to end her life.

Without uttering the slightest sound, Ahote leapt from cover and was on the monster before she could let out a sound. Nearly twice her weight, his jaws quickly found their mark and with a with nothing more than a wet sounding crunch, she was ended. Standing up, Ahote licked the blood from his lips and turned away. He had no intention of eating this creature, though their blood tasted just the same as any other animal's. He had more work to do.

Once again Ahote set off, leaving the carcass behind him as he searched for a new trail. It seemed as though several of them had traveled together from this point, and he soon found himself following another warm track. Slowing as he felt he was drawing near, he once and stalked through the trees, moving quietly towards a clearing. Though he was upwind from the site, the wind changed just enough to bring him Resin's scent along with that of three of ScarPaw's hunters. This made his heart pound in his chest, and as he drew closer his eyes grew wide at the sight that met him.

Resin was trapped, surrounded by more of that wood that the female had been shaping. There were pin-pricks of blood on her pelt and a wound on her shoulder, and the sight of her blood brought Ahote's heart up into his throat. Every nerve in his body urged him to go to her, to see that she was alright, but he stopped himself. The trail had clearly led him to this point, and the monsters that had left it could not be far away.

Suddenly unsure of what to do, Ahote sunk slowly to the ground, being sure to remain hidden. It was tearing him apart inside to see Resin trapped the way she was, and he had just about convinced himself to damm the consequences and go to her when a flicker of movement caught his attention. One would have never seen it, a flicker of white fur between the bark of a tree and the snow beyond, had he not known to look for it. He knew that pelt anywhere: Lani.

Searching the underbrush with his eyes, it wasn't easy to spot the three hunters where they hid across the clearing from him, but he eventually managed to catch Lani's eye. Making certain that she could see him, he nodded slowly, the movement of his blood-stained muzzle barely perceivable against the thicket in which he hid. One of them was going to have to flush them out, and of them all, he had the best chance of holding his own until they could attack. Taking a deep breath, Ahote prepared himself, locking eyes with the wolves across from him and hoping that they understood.

{{Yes it is my last year for real school. After this I must still get what's called an 'Exotics Certification' but that can be done through a more of a trade system and volunteering. Thanks for the good wishes!

I wasn't really sure if I should post anything as it didn't seem my turn to go in the plotline (don't wanna step on people's toes and cut characters/developments out), but I got the itch to write so I hashed out some for Attican. Gonna wait on Pilot though as the next move for the wolves really depends on Resin/Hunters etc.}}

Attican
73 - Brute - Keeper

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

It was a struggle in the brutes heart as he watched Ahote's figure obscure itself into the trees, knowing full well that the patchwork Fighter was going into true battle for the protection of his mate. He understood the feeling all too well and his older-but-rested legs itched to follow, but as it was he knew he had to stay.

Only taking a second to reflect, he turned around, forcing himself to focus on the task at paw. Flagging his tail, his head swung around the wide-eyed group, singling out the last two Hunters besides Vali to pull together. A few brief words uttered under darkened breath was all it took for the three wolves to fully understand their tasks. Typically a safety measure as this would call upon the Fighters, but as it was ScarPaw only had a few number of them and already they were gone as they were the high Ranks. Also this was not a protective measure, the Pack was now on the hunt of enemies. Motioning his muzzle to the trees with a final huff the Hunters moved forwards, each stalking figure with ears up and head down, ready to do their work.

And then there left Attican.

Teeth still half bared, the brute looked over the remaining faces of ScarPaw, those who were left being a heavy amount of adolescent, elders, or families. His head glossed over each one, as if in deep thought. However, one particular figure stopped his gaze. A little silvery pup stood amid the group, innocent green eyes scanning over the abnormally aggressive features of the Keeper from behind her mother's paw. She blinked twice, looking uneasy and timid. Immediately the picture sent his lips to fall back into place.

No, this is where he needed to be. Despite his instinct to do what was best to help Resin personally, quick introspection readily told him that he had done all he could. Telling Ahote and sending out the hunters with Vali were vital points, yet there was still one puzzle piece yet to be placed... Someone had to care for and lead the Pack. And that someone would be him.

Clearing his throat to extinguish the growl that still resided there, Attican took a step forward, addressing the group. Practiced in his projection from his numerous stories, the Keeper spoke fluidly and with just enough pitch for everyone to hear. A deep contrast from his tone not a minute before.

"Follow me and do not lag, I do not have any spare legs or eyes to watch you with. Support one another if need be, do not let anyone get straggling behind. Keep alert and let me know if anything strange should arise. Either sight, smell, or sound, I want to know." Attican's gaze fell to the same silver pup, then to Raka who stood decently close to him. "I will do my very best to protect you at any cost."

And with that they were again on their way. Setting the pace at a moderately brisk trot Attican took point, every minute or so craning his head back to check over the others. His ears were like satellites, rotating to any minute noises around them. It was a stressful position and he'd be lying if he didn't say that every rustle from a windblown pine tree didn't set him on a higher edge. He began to curve the group up a crest, initially set on taking the group as high of elevation he could. Height gave the wolves a vantage point as well as difficult distance between them and the two-leggers. He just hoped it would be enough.

Yet before they could make much more elevation a small voice came up to his right.

"Umm... Yes, hello there... I umm... Was wondering where we were going? The mountains here are very tall, we'll never make it across this way."

Immediately Attican's head turned to the voice, attention drawn straight to the little grayish brute speaking to him. He was one that the Pack had picked up along the way the Keeper immediately noted, still scanning over his wily features.

"Mm.. I am aware of the scale." He spoke gruffly, thinking quickly. "I want to separate us from the scene below as far as possible, but if what you say is true then we must change course." His head churned. "Do you know a better way? If so, can lead us through it?"

((This is going to be short. I have horrible writers block today. I just don't want to hold everyone up any longer.))

~|Resin|~Alpha Female|~ 40 Summers|~

Though she doubted the two-leggers noticed, wolves were in the area. Who exactly they were, she didn't know just yet. The alpha could simply feel them. The howl from Xani brought a growl from Resin's throat. The Beta was taking an unnecessary risk in attracting their attention. Every wolf of rank should be protecting the pack and steering them clear of these two-leggers.
A noise to her right caught her attention. A quiet struggle, and then silence. Movement to her left made her swivel her head quickly in that direction. Between the gaps in the leaves, she saw a flash of white coat. Lani, she thought. Who else had an all white coat and a quiet pawstep? The skin-beasts wouldn't be able to understand a word that she was saying, so the grey and black female spoke aloud. "They've set a trap for the pack and they've used me as bait. Don't let them catch you." To the two-leggers, her words would be nothing but deep growls.
"I hope that someone went to steer the pack in a new direction." Her words were slightly snappish. Mostly because she was irritated at herself. She'd promised to not go off alone again, and yet she had. Resin would have taken Ahote ahead to scout with her, but she wasn't convinced that he was healed enough for such a task as of yet.
Still... despite her captive state, she was glad that it had been her and not one of her pack mates that was injured. The pricks from the thorns were no big deal, nor was the seeping hole in her flank. It was her leg and hip that worried her. It throbbed fiercely and when she moved, it was excruciating. She could feel the joint grinding as if it was out of the socket. This was definitely a possibility. A great wolf was a heavy beast and the force with which she was lifted into the air was immense. Her hind leg may indeed have been disconnected from her hip.
A scent drifted to her on a small burst of wind. Ahote. He was nearby. Resin's yellow eyes widened momentarily and she released an involuntary whine. If anything happened to him because of her, she'd never forgive herself. She wished with all of her being that he would come out of this mess unscathed.

Emotions:
Annoyed
Concerned
Uneasy
Nodding almost vigorously at the alpha's answer to both him and the extra acquaintance, secretly glad to see that Resin was still conscious while holding back the urge to snuff out a gasp, the stench of these wretched two legged creatures already spreading somewhat throughout the clearing. Their scent, somehow spreading itself to force himself and Lani, the wolf whom taken such precaution to be where she was right now, to inhale the disgusting musky smell which Raigho tried his maximum not to cough out, also continuing to hold back urges to cough or rasp out his mental comment of how disgusting the musky scent was, while silently cursing of how sensitive his sense of smell was.

Turning his head towards the light cream fae whom greeted him with a small bump to his shoulder, still holding back the urge to grunt out his answer to the sweeping odor which can be related to the black and white striped raccoon like skunks, he then nodded towards the female, an action done to answer back the kind gesture of the slightly older wolf while twitching his tail, dipping his head and baring one of his fangs, using body language to reveal his aggravation while hissing out (the best a wolf can) in a nearly inaudible tone of voice," Lani, who was the one that was foolish enough to howl."

Saying these words, Raigho then flipped his attention back on the cruel two legged mammals and Resin, keeping his words as quiet as possible so that the strange two leggers wouldn't hear as he whispered out," Well, whoever they are, they better get at least one of those two leggers away..." Glancing back at the alpha, who seemed to be in pain or uncomfortable as her eyes reflected such emotions, Raigho, keeping his tone, then said," Resin, what are they going to do after luring in the rest." Saying these words, his body expresses his tense words and uneasiness through slightly violent gestures and signs, his tooth still bared, his muzzle still scrunched up to create a distasteful scowl as his tail lashed from side to side, yet the wolf didn't care, not wanting his packmates to receive such treatment awaiting to throttle them.

(I really don't know where all this came from. Muse must have snuck up and bit me...)

Xani
- Female - 21 - Beta -

As she howled, Xani remained where she was. She howled for at least 20 seconds before snapping her mouth shut and leaping to her feet. Her pelt, while partially white, still stood out against the white snow that lay all around her. Hopefully, the two-leggers would see her and chase her. If they were away from Resin, Hrafn could deal with rescuing her. Xani, at least in her mind, was tough enough to take on the two-leggers and smart enough to beat them. If worse came to worse, she would be fast enough to outrun them. While she could still remember all that had happened to Attican during his fight, an arrogant voice in her mind quelled those thoughts. He is much older than you are. You are in your prime and able to kill these strange beasts. Why, they're not really that big at all.

A growl escaped her lips as she saw a bit of movement through the trees. One spot of color jumped out at her, but it was the fur of one of her packmates in the distance. They were more in the direction of Resin's scent, so they were probably waiting for a moment to attack. Once again, she threw back her head and howled. This time was just a short burst, a bit lighter sounding. If she made herself sound less brave, perhaps the beasts would come for her? She could only hope. At least, until she saw what appeared to be a tree moving to her left.

As she turned to stare at the tree, she saw a stick move a bit backwards as the leaves around it moved. It was only as a beam of light fell across the area that she realized she was staring at a two-legger. They had apparently lost their animal pelts and were making due with tree parts. Or, had they done this on purpose? Her hackles rose a bit as the stick suddenly flew towards her, slashing along the length of her side. A loud growl left her mouth as she stumbled sideways, her eyes drawn to the sight of her own blood spattering on the snow. While it wasn't life-threatening at the moment, it hurt worse than anything she had received in any recent fights.

The creature before her growled and turned his head, making a loud noise as if to summon others to its aid. Perhaps it thought that she was too wounded to fight on? If so, it was about to be proven so very wrong. As the beast shut its mouth and turned to face Xani once more, the Beta sprung forward quicker than she thought about what she planned to do. Her jaws snapped like mad at the creature, but it had forelegs long enough to keep her maw from his face. Instead of biting, she started scratching violently at the thing beneath her until he yelled out again and moved its back leg to strike her side.

A pained howl would have ripped from her throat if she had not taken the opportunity to snap down on one of the beast's forelegs. When it had struck her, it moved one to try and brace itself against the ground. Now, it was torn apart by her jaws. Leaping back, she turned to her right as rustling leaves announced the approach of yet another foe. This was good news- if they were coming after her, there would be less for the pack to deal with. Once Resin was free, she knew that someone- most likely Hrafn- would come to her aid.

At the thought of the brute, she paused for a moment. Did she really want him in all this danger? Shaking her head angrily, she turned back to face the creature that was still pinned underneath her and crying. Without waiting another second, she bent her head down and snapped, ripping her head back forcefully. Though the bite didn't kill it, it would soon die. Leaping back from the beast, the blood on her mouth dripped to the snow beneath her to mix with her own blood. Before she could move, another creature leapt from the trees behind her.

While she saw nothing at first, she felt her right haunch suddenly burn as something slashed down it. This wound, while shorter, was deeper than the other. A pained noise managed to make its way from her maw, though she turned abruptly and somehow pulled the creature to the ground. As she looked, she noticed a piece of wood sticking from her leg. Had they just stuck it into her to hurt her? It confused her slightly, but she turned to the creature beside her. It was a bit smaller than the other one, and it was scrambling to its feet.

Before Xani could leap at it, it turned and ran back through the trees. A pained growl escaped her as she hobbled a bit towards the trees. Blood was leaving a trail behind her, though, and she didn't want to take the chance of leading the creatures back to the pack. Thus, she sat down and started licking her wounds. It didn't stop the flow as much as she would have liked, but it would have to do. The piece of wood was out of her reach, so she left it. It was small, about the size of one of her toes. It would have been a very useful tool for the creature had it been fighting something about half the size of a wolf.

Creeping forward through the trees, she did her best to quietly make her way towards where Resin was held. So far, it didn't seem like the two-leggeds were capable of smelling things easily, so the scent of her blood shouldn't do too much to warn them of her approach. It would, however, alert the rest of the pack that she was there. Or, at least, that something was bloody and nearby. If they were going to attack and try to rescue Resin, she would simply try her best to get there quickly. She couldn't just let the creature that ran back towards them hurt them even more.
