Stonepaw swam as fast as she could, but the white warrior stayed perfectly alongside her. Another one, this time black, appeared on the other side of the river.

Firepaw stretched, uncurling from her bed in the dimly lit den. The moss beneath her threw dust up, and she sneezed just before hearing a horrific yowl of terror.

Petaltail
petaltail is a mostly white she-cat with a striped orange tail and orange spots on her face and ears. she is kind and will never do anything against her clan or clanmates. she is trustworthy though she can be very ditzy and very lovable. she has a normal past. both her father and mother clan born. she is a newly appointed warrior so is just getting used to her spot against the walls of the warriors den. she is a small clutz but a fierce fighter. she wants kits one day but wants to live her warrior life as much as she can before then. puddleheart is her sister who became medicine cat.

Petaltail was hunting early when she heard the howl. her ears perked up as she tried to think of what that had been. she abandoned the rustle of mice in the undergrowth and sprinted towards the river where the panicked howl had sounded. she knew it was from a cat but couldnt tell who exactly it was until she spotted stonepaw and gasped as she saw intruders. she howled for helped and dashed towards the river, still a bit far into the forest.

Aspenstar

Aspenstar heard the cry and leaped onto the great boulder. "Warriors! To the cry!" He dashed out of camp.

Feathertail
Feathertail awoke with a start to hear Aspenstar's cry. He pulled himself up hurriedly and followed his leader, his tabby fur puffing out and preparing him for battle. His tail flicked back and forth, and he unsheathed his claws.

Firepaw dashed to the hill above the river, and gasped at the sight of twenty or thirty cats gathered around the river. They all had cobwebs over their faces to hide their identity, and she pick a small cat hovering further away from the river than the others. She pounced on it and silenced it instantly, yowling a battle cry as she launched herself into the fray, distracting the masked cats from Stonepaw. They overcame her quickly pinning her to the ground. "Your clan can't afford to send more than a simple kit?" They laughed horridly, coughing through their masks.

Stonepaw leaped out of the river, glad of the distraction. She ran up to the camp and burst in urgently. "We have to get to the river and save Firepaw!" Her cries fell silent as she realized the camp was empty; the clan gone.

Petaltail was watching with horror as Firepaw was pinned by the massive cats. her fur bristled but she paused at the edge of the battlefield, her mind whirling. she froze a bit but shook her head. Firepaw needed her. she could hear the angry cries of her clan rousing in the distance so she knew she wasnt alone. with one great sigh, she pounded toward the attackers. "leave our territory or prepare to get youyr fur ripped to shreds!" she bowled over at what smelled of another she-cat and bit down on her neck, just enough to feel the cat wriggle and cry in fury and pain but she didnt let go, not until she felt the cat shudder. blood was dripping down her chest fur as she let the squealing queen go, staring ferociously at the attacking cats, her white fur stained crimson.

Firepaw recoiled from an old tom, his fur already graying. She smacked a silver she-cat with her paw, and the she-cat came for her throat. Firepaw ducked just in time, but her opponent landed on top of her. They were losing horribly.

Aspenstar and his warriors burst over the hill and into battle. Aspenstar struck ferociously, biting and clawing randomly and the masked cats. The group around him retreated, so he moved to Firepaw's side. A paw came at her neck and he dived in front of her just in time for the masked cats paw to strike him full force below the jaw, knocking the wind out of him and rendering him senseless.

Feathertail ducked under a sweeping paw and twisted to see Aspenstar fall. He yowled a fierce battle cry and went into attack mode, killing three masked cats at once. He attacked a new group and they, too, retreated. He attacked more and more until all the masked cats were gone. Then he fell at his leader's side, revealing a long, deep gash along his side.
