Attican
73 - Brute - Keeper

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

When Pipa so brazenly mashed her nose into the newcomers coat to take a snuffling whiff it took most of Attican's strength to not burst out laughing. Instead he swallowed it, the laughter instead emanating like a low rumble from his diaphragm. A smile did end up painting his face though at her not-so-quiet comments to Resin on the black brutes appearance. Hey it was true after all, Hrafn did in fact carry a nice build, there was no missing that. Moments later the Eldest loped off into the woods, getting herself a headstart.

Attican's attention turned back to the two, nodding his head in return when the brute was introduced and acknowledged him. His guard had been all but let down by now, the male not posing any sort of harm to him, Resin, or of course the Pack. If Pipaluk got a good read on him after all, he must be good, right? His tail fell slack as he began to follow Resin, about two paces back near her hip and on her left hand side. He listened thoughtfully to her explanation. Although both living and hearing it before, the Keeper took it all in quietly, noting some of the choices of words she said and how she explained it. This time she did reason it to be the ancestors who told her to go.

His ears swiveled back to Hrafn when he began his own explanation, eyebrows raising when he too said that he was 'instructed' to go South. Perhaps it wasn't just chance that he had intercepted with the Pack.

Attican stopped and looked up for a moment, wondering what the fates and ancestors were up to. Of course he saw nothing, only the now dimly-lite sky, a couple stars, and the few clouds that passed by. Gradually his gaze fell back down to the two wolves that had kept going, their paces oddly matching up almost perfectly. "What are you guys doing up there..." He asked aloud, although no one but him could hear. His eyes still watched the Alpha and the newcomer as they moved back towards the mass group. It was like he was seeing something with a new set of eyes. "Huh..." he grunted, hastening his pace so that he covered half the ground that he had lost after stopping. Perhaps it'd be best to give some space to the two after all..'\

(( I doubt I'll be doing much better, dear. Long day. My brain feels like a burnt coal.
Take your time, RainbowSerpent! I appreciate you wanting to know the story before you hop in. If you have any questions though, don't hesitate to ask.
As for Ahote, it's probably good that he has a thing for Resin. She has a bit of a thing for him too, but doesn't want to push him into responsibilities that he's not ready for. We'll see what happens.))

Resin- Alpha Female- 40 Summers

Thoughts filled her mind. What did the ancestors have in store for them? Was there a greater plan? When Hrafn mentioned a voice sending him South as well, a thoughtful noise rumbled up from Resin's throat. Just as Attican questioned the ancestors, so did she. The dark female shook her head, the thick black ruff of her coat swaying with the motion. Of course they wouldn't answer. Up ahead she heard Pipaluk give that crazy old giggle of hers and the alpha couldn't help but smirk. She had a feeling that the old wolf knew that silent question that was asked and it had amused her.

Hearing the footsteps of Attican stop, she glanced over her shoulder, her pace slowing. What sort of daughter would she be if she left her acting father behind? Though Pipaluk continued on, Resin stopped, waiting until she was sure that the Keeper was on his way again before moving again. Hrafn had stopped as well. Rather than run behind, he ran directly beside her, which she found interesting. Normally such action was reserved for a wolf who thought themselves an equal. Not that the Alpha thought of herself as better than anyone else, mind you, it was just the way of things.

Soon the light had died completely, leaving a few struggling stars in the sky. The heavens had become cloudy and she expected snow by morning. Snorting lightly, she shook her head again. Hopefully the storm wasn't too bad. They still had a long way to go and a barrage of snow would hamper their travels.

Eventually they broke free from the trees, leaving the odd overhanging branches behind. They'd had a sort of ominous feel to them. Resin was glad to be rid of them. The pack came into view and she smiled as heads raised and nods of greeting were given. She greeted each wolf as she passed, stopping to speak to those that had lost loved ones. She sympathized greatly with them. It wasn't easy giving up friends and family to the ancestors. The only relief was knowing that they would all be joined together some day.

Pipaluk had dropped off to talk with Mirage and the pups. Resin stopped there as well, greeting the young Omega. His actions today had been admirable. Not Omega-like at all. Coming close, she licked a chunk of snow from the top of his head. "You did well today, Mirage. I'm proud of you. You're wiser than your years." It was true. Though the pup was only ten summers old, he acted much older. His responsible nature astounded the Alpha sometimes.

On she went, greeting wolves here and there until she made her way to Ahote and Curse. Not wishing to intrude upon their private conversation for too long, she nodded a greeting. "I've found our beloved elder." Meaning Pipaluk. "She managed to find an old den. Attican and I stayed with her til she warmed up and dried." Canting her head to the side, she motioned to the impressive black wolf beside her. "This is Hrafn. He saw the blood on the far side of the river and came to offer help. Hrafn, this is Ahote and Curse." One ear flicked absently. "He is going South as well and has decided to join us."

Without warning a yawn bubbled up from within her and a stretch came right along after it. She turned her attention solely to Ahote. "Thank you, Ahote, for taking the lead while I was away. I know it 's not something that you're entirely comfortable with, but you're the only one that I trust to lead them in my stead." It was true. Aside from Attican, Ahote was the one that she trusted above all others. She knew that she could give him instructions and he would not disappoint her.

"We can discuss our plans later. For now... I just want to curl up and sleep for a few years." Gracing the pair with a toothy grin, she padded back through the pack towards the wooded area, finding a place where she could curl up in the soft snow. She had placed herself between her pack and the dangers that they'd escaped just in case they managed to cross and threaten them again. She noted that Hrafn had become her shadow. He made himself a suitable bed a short distance away and curled up within it. The black and grey lady couldn't help but smirk inwardly before she placed her muzzle upon her paws to sleep.

Hrafn- Male- 46 Summers

He wasn't surprised when the dark female accepted his offer to join. It was the smart thing to do and she was a smart wolf. Since he was now accepted into the pack and she was his leader, he followed behind her silently, waiting to either be instructed or dismissed. When she walked, he walked. When she stopped to look at her Keeper, he stopped as well. Although she was his new leader, he did see himself as an equal. She would have the final say, but he wasn't exactly new to leading. Because of this, he walked beside her.

As she stood waiting for Attican, he believed his name was, he eyed the smokey female. She was quite becoming. Her coloring was unique, the black and grey melding together nicely. The dark blaze upon her muzzle and ruff accented the bright sulfur yellow of her eyes. He couldn't help but think that there was a darkness hidden within those eyes. Though she appeared to be fine on the outside, he suspected that she was troubled. She definitely looked exhausted.

Before she caught him staring, he averted his eyes and turned his head back to the path. He walked beside her for a time, watching the wobbly elder trot along ahead of them. Passing through the tangle of trees made him feel uneasy as well. After seeing the sky above his entire life, having it cut off from him was unsettling. He was glad when they arrived back in the open once more.

Looking around him, he was surprised at the amount of wolves under Resin's care. There were many; young and old. Big and small. Twenty or more wolves just by glance. He was impressed. Did she lead them all alone or was there an Alpha male somewhere?

As he followed her past the pup, he gave the lad a smile and nod. Apparently he had done something worthy of praise and, even though Hrafn didn't know the details, he was impressed that a wolf so young was capable of achieving the Alpha's admiration. He noted the pile of pups around the young black wolf and assumed that he had taken the position as babysitter of sorts. An important position.

She moved on and he followed. Out away from the rest of the group sat two other wolves speaking to one another. A large male and an ashy female. Was this big brute the Alpha male? This thought was quickly put to rest as she thanked the male for his services. Though they had just met, a smidge of jealousy raised it's head when she gave Ahote such high praise. It was ignored without a second thought and Hrafn nodded to the pair. "Greetings."

Hrafn listened quietly to the rest of the Alpha's speech then, nodding to the pair in parting, followed her back through the congregation of wolves. Just as he would, she placed herself in the line of fire; right between the possible danger and the pack that she would die protecting. She had called the pup admirable, but she truly was the admirable one. A good Alpha always offered themselves up in place of those within their pack. He would do no less. Finding an area a respectable distance from the female, he used his large black paws to scoop out a divot in the snow where he promptly curled himself up, dark eyes watching the Alpha until she slept. He soon followed suit.

Pipaluk-Elder Female- 97 Summers

Paw after paw, the elder waddled along at the head of the group. Though she seemed not to, she paid a great deal of attention to both the new brute and the alpha. The ancestors seemed interested in the pair, though she wasn't sure why. Perhaps they saw potential, should the two become mates. Perhaps it was something else entirely. Either way, she would be sure to pay attention to both the living and the dead.

As they tromped along, Pipaluk conversed with Nanuq about this and that. He chastised her for almost getting herself killed. "If I hadn't pulled those cubs by the tail they would have surely died. I'd rather get a little cold and wet than have them dead under the water and ice." She cackled, her old eyes closing merrily. "Besides... every stunt that I pull gets me one step closer to badgering you for eternity."

Once the pack came into view, Pipa made her way to the pups; Mirage and Azalia in particular. "How are you, youngins? Safe and warm, I'll bet." When Resin approached, Pipaluk quieted herself, letting the Alpha address the young black wolf. When she had finished and moved on, the elder caught the young wolf's gaze. "Well isn't that something to be proud of. The Alpha just bestowed a great honor upon you by recognizing your good deeds." Using her muzzle, she ruffled the fur atop Mirage's head. "Good job, pup. She may look upon you for more things in the future."

Smile still on her face, Pipaluk dropped to her belly near the pile of sleeping pups and followed suit, falling fast asleep in what seemed like seconds. ...Or so everyone would believe. With one cracked eye and one sharp ear, she observed the verbal exchange between Resin and Ahote. The ancestors had been interested in that pair for a while, but their interest had waned over time. It seemed that nothing was going to happen on that front. However, as she watched, Pipa made out the smallest bristle in the black brutes ruff. Did he feel threatened by the patchwork male? She wasn't entirely sure, but she would keep an eye on the three wolves. Pipa would have the pleasure of watching the very first soap opera.

((Just want you all to know, I'm seriously considering making a fea just so she can fanwolf all over Attican. Heh. That would just be too much fun. Anyway, it's sweet that Resin likes Ahote too, if he knew, he would probably be embarrassed. He still has the blood of an alpha in him, he just needs to feel it again, see that he is still capable. Her kind words do help though. Perhaps he will spend some time with Attican and talk out some of his hurt. Not Pippa though, she gives him the willies.))

Ahote
Male | 46 | Fighter
>>>–––———<•>———–––<<<

Laying close to Curse, Ahote smiles softly at her question. "A pack doesn't leave its members behind. Resin went to look for Pipaluk, and so I would have gone to look for you. We all need each other, and by the way," he said, pausing to nudge her with his nose, "you're not a Straggler anymore." That he said with no small amount of certainty, as he knew Resin would agree whole-heartedly. In the silence that followed, he shifted a bit, sensing that there was more that she wanted to say. Much of the pack below them had settled down to sleep, huddled against one another in their little hollows as darkness settled in. As he looked over them, he was comforted by their closeness, and though it had been a very difficult day, he felt that so long as they were all together they could overcome anything.

Turning his attention back to Curse as she began to speak again, Ahote could sense the pain in her, almost as though it were a palpable thing. No one deserved such suffering as he saw in her, and even if there were those who did, he knew that through some cruel twist of fate that they didn't feel it the way the good did. He had little conversation with the former Straggler, he had heard some of her past from Resin and the others, and knew that the Darkness had followed her here from her past. She still hurt from that, and though she had turned her head to look away, Ahote moved so he could still catch her eyes, "And now he is gone too..." he said softly, finishing her words for her. Wishing that he could take at least take some of her pain, he licked the tears from her face, lifting her chin with his nose before continuing, "Death hurts, even if it is the death of a past we would rather forget. As though something that was always there is now gone, and we fall into the hole that was left," his mind turned to his own life, and how even how he dwelled on the loss of his old pack-mates as he tried to sort out his thoughts. "But maybe sometimes it is okay to hurt, that we have to find that bottom before we can start to fill the void." he said, his voice introspective. Really, there is nothing he could say that could help either Curse, nor even Xani with their troubled pasts, but he still feels compelled to try.

Settling back down next to Curse, Ahote spots movement on the edge of the pines for a split-second he feels the fur on his back rise, but soon calms when the reactions of the wolves nearby tell him that it must be Resin returning. A smile comes to his face then when he sees Pippa's wobbly form make its way into the pack, as well as Attican's large frame. Having them all back safe and sound is a triumph for the pack, and at this time, they are sorely in need of a few of those. However, he also notes that she has picked up another wolf in her travels, and at first he thought it might have been the straggler who had helped them earlier, but as they draw closer to him, he realizes that the large black wolf is much older and more confident. Whomever he was though, Resin seemed to trust him and that was enough for Ahote. The pack needed all the able bodied members it could get.

After stopping to speak once more with Mirage, Resin and her shadow made their way over to where Curse and Ahote sat, and the fighter's tail thudded the snow behind him at their approach. Plainly happy to see her, he gets up and licks her chin in a warm greeting, then turns to Hrafn as he is introduced, giving him a nod of the head. "Welcome to ScarPaw, Hrafn," he said warmly, as he has in greeting all new members. From his posture and bearing, Ahote can assume that this wolf too has once held a high position within a pack, and that brings a bit of a question into his mind. Just how many powerful wolves can survive together in the same place? His pack certainly didn't have the likes of Hrafn, Attican and Xani all together. While he had had a few big fighters, they were nowhere near the stature, both mentally and physically of these three, not to mention himself. However, if ever there were a wolf that could be a leader among leaders, it was Resin.

What follows next though, brings a flush of warmth to his cheeks, as he had not expected the compliment. Really, there wasn't anything that Ahote wouldn't do for his Alpha, and he had simply considered it his duty to care for the pack while she was away. "By your side in all things, Alpha," he replied, smiling a bit bashfully. As his words had warmed Curse earlier, so too do hers warm him, and his tail sways gently behind him.

As Resin takes her leave to rest, Ahote replies, "Rest well, dark lady," and touches her one last time with his nose before watching the pair walk back towards the trees. Heartened by her return, Ahote suddenly felt the weariness from the day and the lack of sleep over the past few catching up with him. Letting out a massive yawn, he turned back to Curse, "Perhaps a bit of rest would do us all some good," he said to the ashen fea and moved to give her one last lick on the head. "Sleep well. And I hope the Ancestors bring you sweet dreams."

With that, Ahote took his leave of Curse to let her rest and perhaps find the same for himself. Mind tumbling and churning in on itself, he brought himself into the middle of the pack, looking for Attican. Perhaps a few words with the Keeper would help settle his unrest and finally allow him to get some sleep.

(I'm not really sure what to post for Xani, since she's just milling around the pack at the moment...
I feel bad for her though. All other wolves are either older or younger than her, or the same age. Except Rainbow Serpent's brute, but he's crushing on someone else. :P
I'll post once things move along with the pack, unless someone wants to interact with Xani.)

{{Hahaha oh man, Attican would not be sure what to do with himself with a little fanwolf! heh. He'd certainly be flustered and bewildered! Also Pipa has a different way about her to everyone, Attican is especially intrigued by her in her ways of knowing things and predicting them as he is essentially "walking in her pawprints" as being a Keeper too. He is so curious on "how."

Also Leo, if you'd like I have Pilot (my straggler) only a mile or two away from the pack right now. Just over the hill that the mass group is resting behind, is still her oxen kill and there are her footprints that lead to her in a small dense cluster of trees. She's sleeping now, but Xani could go out and track her out if you wish. c: }}

Attican
73 - Brute - Keeper

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

For the rest of the trek back to 'camp' Attican stayed quiet, silently following the two dark wolves in front of him. The only sound he made was his pads crunching in the snow, his mind brimming with questions. It appeared though that no answers would come to light until later however, for now he'd just have to wait and see. Clouds appeared to roll in as they walked, bringing in the potentiality of it to snow overnight.

Eventually the Pack came into view, an extraordinarily welcome sight to the Keeper. Even though he had gotten some rest at the den (that he so desperately needed), he could still feel the exhaustion of his body want to take over. Everyone would get some well-deserved rest tonight and he was determined to take full advantage of it. He walked in with the side-by-side duo, shaking his pelt out beforehand to at least make himself slightly less bedraggled looking. He could only imagine what he actually looked like right now.

He walked up to Mirage, leaving a warm smile and wink to the young brute after Resin's bout of praise to him. Attican was pleased with him as well, he had done amazing with stepping up and caring for the pups. His stories had not gone unnoticed. There was potential in that one.

Quietly Attican broke off from the two, walking around and nudging and nosing many of the packmembers that still laid awake. Many gave the Keeper a small smile in return, warming his own face to break out into one as well. Sometimes it was the little things to help keep a pack strong and together, keeping everyone working together as a unit. He cared for each one of them deeply, knowing much of each one's history, either having watched them grow or them coming to him for advice.

When he had finished the graying brute shook out his pelt again, his fur ruffling up to look like a large puffball. He collapsed in the snow, dragging his body around with his back legs to clean himself. A satisfied growl left his mouth, thoroughly enjoying himself as he left streaks of dirt and things in his wake. He rolled on his back and wriggled around, tail swinging back and forth with every twist. If he had been a cat he would have definitely been purring. Now satisfied with his cleanup, Attican stood up, the evidence of how dirty he had truly been sprawled out in the snow. He couldn't help but chuckle as he walked away, feeling good and sleepy now that he was clean.

Locating a nice spot to rest, the Keeper dug an oval to fit his body in. It was snug and worked like a bowl as he curled inside. He grunted as he settled in, air from his nose blowing out in steamy tendrils up to the sky. His fur kept him warm as his large head came to rest on his paws, eyelids drooping and blinking slowly. The brute was just about asleep when he heard the crunching of snow as it made its way towards him. One eye reluctantly peeled back, looking for the source. It was Ahote. Despite his desperate want for sleep, Attican slowly raised his head, flicking his ears to try to make himself more alert again.

"Everything okay Ahote?" He asked lowly, still blinking himself to coherentness.

((Sorry if I've been holding everyone up. Pretty bad day. Not sure how well I'll do. As far as Xani goes, she could befriend Hrafn. He's had his share of troubles and has lived as a loner for a time. He's even tempered and could probably mellow her out a bit.))

Resin- Alpha Female- 40 Summers

Sleep had been her intention, but of course nothing ever came easily. Rather than toss and turn in the snow, the shadowy female rose and, on silent paws, made rounds. Keeping a respectful distance between herself and the sleeping pack, she circled them, policing the area and checking for threats. Doing such a monotonous task would allow her to blank out her mind. Had she stayed in place and tried to sleep, her mind would run rampant as it was prone to do. She'd always had difficulty shutting off her mind, but now it seemed to be getting harder and harder.

Few wolves were still awake. The sky's lights had been turned off and so had their desire to do anything but sleep. Not to imply that they were carefree, but they had much less to worry about than she did. She doubted it crossed most of their minds that they could get attacked during the night or trampled by a herd of oxen or caribou. They trusted her to protect them from such things and, so far, she'd done a decent enough job of it. The constant worry that she wasn't being alert enough tended to be the culprit of her sleeplessness. Over the years she'd come to need less and less sleep to function.

As she patrolled, she noticed two raised heads. Ahote and Attican were staying up late, it seemed. Curiosity made her wonder what her two closest advisors were discussing, but it really was none of her business. She continued on, barely visible with the dark treeline as a backdrop. A ghost drifting along. Fleetingly she remembered Ahote addressing her as "Dark Lady" and she chortled softly, shaking her head a bit as well. Just as Attican's nickname did, Ahote's nickname pleased her, though in a slightly different way. Receiving affection, even through pet names, was something that she missed. After her mate disappeared, she couldn't bring herself to allow any sort of affection or familiarity. It seemed that the resistance was fading away.

The pack was nestled in a slightly raised snow covered meadow; trees rising up all around them like a protective wall. Reaching a distance away from the sleeping wolves, she pulled away from the treeline and padded slowly out into the open. Seating herself, she sat tall, facing South, a lone, dark figure a midst the vast expanse of white. Raising her head, she looked towards the sky. The clouds had thickened and threatened to burst. Their threats weren't idle. Soon after, the first flakes began to fall. The wolves would be blanketed in snow by morning. She only hoped that the weather stuck to flurries. They'd gone through enough hardships for a while.

Kuolema
{{Brute||Loner/fighter||14||traveling south

Kuolema had followed the Alpha, her keeper, the old wolf and now this new dark stranger back towards the pack, once he saw them work their way into the pack, he meandered around a bit, sniffing things and even marking a few trees just because he could. He finally found a hollow dead tree, it still smelled musty and damp underneath it, but he crawled into the tree and sighed softly, his sharp gaze taking in the pack, that was not so very far away. He wasn't sure he would be welcome here, no not with the scent of death that clung to him. His mind wandered to the words of Shilo, the Alpha of the pack he'd protected from his father.

"You are not made for this world, Kuolema," The elder wolf said as they padded along a frozen stream, a cold wind blowing ice into their coats.

"I am a part of your pack am I not?" He asked looking at the old white wolf.

"You are my child, but...you are not made for us, the ancestors mean something much more for you then to live out your days with us old fools," He chuckled.

"The ancestors saw fit to take my mother from me, why should I listen to them?" he asked.

"Because, they will make you listen, they are far wiser then you or I or any wolf will ever be," He said. "You told Loantha that you had the urge to go south am I correct?" He asked.

"Yes, Shilo I did," he said softly lowering his gaze as he turned his head away.

"Then go, you are not made for this world, and the Ancestors are telling you so,"

It had taken him three days to finally give into the urge to go South; and no it had not been easy, the journey had been wrought in parel, and had finally lead him to the sight of his father's death. That sight had not been as sad as it should of been, in fact upon seeing the lifeless body, he'd felt as if a great weight had been lifted from his shoulders. He sighed softly still watching the pack, not realizing really that his own scent so like his father's was moving with small eddies of snow across the pack, and towards the Alpha where she sat. He would not sleep that night, he wasn't tired, but he lay still letting snow land lightly upon his back

Resin- Alpha Female- 40 Summers

A barrage of unfamiliar smells released her from her trance-like state. Pulling her gaze from the sky, Resin turned, looking towards the woods. A crack and a curse met her ears. She could just make out a shadowy form. Rising, she made her way, head low, ears forward, towards the movement. Was it a threat? Had the mad wolves found a way across? Picking up her pace, she loped across the snowy landscape and into the trees.

Better to make the first move than to be caught off guard. The big female slammed her chest into another dark wolf, flinging it into the snow. Black and grey fur bristling, she stood over it, her substantial form blocking out the light above. "Who are you? Have you been bitten? Are you infected?" The Alpha, though her posture was dominant, wasn't threatening the wolf. She was honestly just concerned for her pack and if this wolf was indeed infected, it would have to be dealt with.

Lowering her muzzle, she sniffed at the wolf. Female, it seemed. It didn't smell as if it had any wounds. Another sight caught her slightly off guard. In a hollow log not too far away, she could see a pair of eyes reflecting off of the muted moonlight. She sighed and mumbled to herself. "They're springing up from the ground..." Then in a louder tone. "You can come out." Stepping back from the female, having ascertained that she held no wounds and was indeed not infected, she furrowed her brow slightly and shook her head.

"Why are you skulking around on your own? There's an entire pack below and warmth to be shared." Seating herself, she curled her black tail around her massive paws. "I am Resin; Alpha of the ScarPaw pack. Who might the two of you be?" Though she had never seen or smelled the female before, the male within the log seemed familiar. Mentally backtracking, she remembered where she recognized his scent from.

"You, of all wolves, shouldn't feel the need to hide out here on your own." The Alpha addressed him. "You aided us when we were threatened. There's a place for you here, should you wish it." Indeed, he was the young male that had helped herd the group, warned them of danger, then had assisted in pushing the log into the water. Sniffing lightly, she filed his scent away in her olfactory data bank. There was something a bit odd about his scent, but she wasn't able to place it.

There she sat, waiting patiently for their answers. She felt no threat from the younger male, but, since she was unfamiliar with the female, she kept herself poised, but alert. If the wolf made any aggressive moves, Resin would be ready to take her down. As was her nature, however, she would allow her to speak first. A trait that seemed rare, these days.

Many of the stragglers that had joined the Scarpaw pack had come from aggressive, abusive packs. Her former assumptions were true. Great Wolves were slowly turning into their smaller, less intelligent cousins. It seemed that power corrupted. Many spoke of Alpha's that maimed or killed their pack mates. Destructive, tyrant-like leaders would never have a pack that they could rely on.

Resin liked to think that she was an exception. Whereas other Alpha's ruled by force, she ruled with a fair, just paw. Everyone was given a fair chance whether they deserved it or not. Her kindness shouldn't be mistaken for weakness, however. The sizeable female was more than capable of aggressive tactics when needed. Would they be needed now? Only the foreign female knew the answer to that.

((So long River, we will miss you! And Welcome, Shadow!))

Ahote
Male | 46 | Fighter
>>>–––———<•>———–––<<<

As he made his way through the pack, Ahote noticed that many of his pack mates were already fast asleep and hoped that his passing didn't wake them. Though he too should be exhausted, having gotten little sleep two night ago, and almost none after the feast of oxen, he felt as though sleep were far from him. His legs ached, and his shoulders felt as though they had been crushed flat by the log, not to mention his half frozen toes from his little dunk in the river. Even his tail felt heavy behind him, as it hung limp from his tired back, but even that was not enough to convince his mind that he was tired enough to sleep.

Distinguishing the sleeping balls of fur from one another in the gloom is not all that easy, and it took Ahote a few minutes of crunching through the old snow before he locates the grey spattered coat of the Keeper. Already curled in on himself, Ahote was just about to walk away and let Attican get some rest, which he seemed to need, but just as he was considering this, the Keeper's head came up and he greeted him. Feeling bad for having awakened him, Ahote dipped his head, looking a bit abashed, "Only looking for company, Keeper," he said, not bothering to dig a bed for himself before laying down next to him.

Of course there was plenty on Ahote's mind, but he didn't want to disturb the Keeper's rest more than he already had. His mind flitted from here to there, not seeming to be able to dwell on any one thing long enough to actually bring any one thought to resolution. Not the least of these was the warmth that grew for Resin within him, and what that meant for his place in this pack. Though his former pack and the events that led to his leaving now dwindled in the distance of the past, he still felt it press on him. There was some part of his heart that was still broken, where once there had been a gentle and kind leader, there was now self doubt and shame. No matter how many times he may have proven himself to the rest of the pack, either by protecting ScarPaw or helping Resin in her administration, he still has not convinced himself.

Looking down at his paws for a long moment, Ahote looked up just in time to see a dark shape lift up out of the snow and move back out into the woods. Almost at once he recognizes it as Resin, if by nothing more than the way she carries herself. The first few flakes of snow have begun to fall from the heavy sky, and he watches intently until she disappears from view. He knows she is prone to seeking solitude, and hates to follow her uninvited, but having only just seen her return, he hates to see her leave so soon. Finally, he convinces himself to let her be for the moment, and looks back towards Attican, to see if sleep has found the keeper once more.

((Oh, and I've decided to make two more characters. c: I'll be sending them to Resin as soon as I can get them written up. I can't guarantee I'll be able to write for each of them every post, but I'll do my best.))

Kuolema

Kuolema stayed where he was, with in the warmth of the log, when Resin had approached. He nodded his head lightly at her words. "I think instead of disturbing your resting pack, with a stranger in their midst, I will join once all are awake," He said calmly. He turned his yellow gaze towards the other female. She smells healthy enough, but she also smells of lies. Well not smells really, but the way she talks and moves, tells him she's not speaking the full truth about herself. But honestly would he come right out and tell this Alpha fae that he was the son of the wolf who, if his own sense of smell served him correctly, had killed her brother.

He let out a dry sounding sigh and allowed his head to find his paws again, just watching the two silently.
Tentatively returning to Rping
