xxxxxthe sun was just reaching the highest point in the sky when a queen slipped from under a milk-scented bush and rushed towards the medicine den with wide eyes and flattened ears. it was not long before she was followed by a brown tom with darker points. they wasted no time in returning to the nursery where soft whimpers could be heard. and they did not emerge for some time, not until the sun was setting behind the trees and a particularly brave corvid - a crow blacker than the sky - swooped down from an overhanging branch and plucked a fat mouse from the fresh-kill pile, knocking it's head back and swallowing the dead rodent in a few seconds as it flew away. a white tom with odd eyes had been sat watching the nursery from the opposite side of camp: he had tried to enter at one point and been sent away as his pacing was off-putting. now he got to his paws and, with prickling fur, the tom moved over to the nursery as the brown tom poked his head out and flicked an ear in a beckoning motion. soon the white tom was in the den, sitting next to an exhausted grey and white queen with two kits huddled into the curve of her stomach. one, a strong little tom, was black and white. immediately the new father was reminded of the corvid. "he can be called crowkit," he meowed, touching his nose to his mate's cheek. she purred weakly and let her tail drift over the she-kit's spine, "she can be silverkit."█

xxxxxtoday was the day. he could see the sun rising from his nest in the nursery. soon, he would be outside, in the mist of his clanmates, receiving his apprentice name and finally, finally, he would know which warrior would be his mentor. Wriggling around in the moss with excitement, the kit accidentally knocked his sister, causing her to awaken. "crowkit!" she exclaimed, pouting (she'd never been an early riser), "can't you just sleep?" crowkit protested and the twins got into an argument. seawhisker awoke then, scolding them both before spotting the sun outside and pulling her children towards her. just as she did, her mate entered the den and immediately helped to prepare the kits, grooming silverkit's soft fur. eventually, the family was ready and they headed outside. the ceremony was short and quick: silverpaw was given ashstripe as her mentor and crowpaw was given nightclaw. both of them soared through their apprenticeship, successfully becoming silverwing and crowfang at twelve moons of age. as crowfang was skilled at both hunting and fighting, he was given the suffix -fang to recognize this. unfortunately seawhisker and oddclaw were not around to witness this great event: they died when the twins were seven moons old from a severe illness that the medicine cats hadn't been able to heal.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
three moons have passed since then. silverwing has gone missing, although many theories run around his brain as to why: crowfang reckons that she fell in love with a passing loner, as she was absent from camp more than a few nights many times. if she has, he wishes her all the luck and happiness in the world. putting it behind him (he doesn't want to seem soft) crowfang continues with his cocky, amorous ways.
