Spottedbird (bird)
Spotted skidded to a halt in the grass whe she saw the body of a cat in front of her, but the muddy bank caused her to slip and she fell onto the body. She yowled and leaped up, her face and paws now covered in the dead cat's blood. She spun around and ran the direction she came from, but her paws simply slided over the now-bloodied grass and she fell again. Spotted felt a pain in her shoulder as her left paw was twisted backwards. The sky rapidly began to darken. She twisted her neck to look behind her as an even darker shadow fell over her, her eyes wide an pupils dilated with fear, though she already knew who it was. The dark shape of a cat towered over her, and Spotted couldn't help but let out a short scream of terror before the cat spoke. She attempted curling up on the bloody earth and somehow tried to cover her ears, but the dark cat's voice still boomed straight into her cowering form.
"Seven cats will come. The young one. The cold one. The fighter. The healer. The survivor. The faithful. And the one with blazing eyes...you were chosen to accompany them, Spottedbird. The figure leaned in and hissed quietly; "Destiny is not something you can escape..." The words seared into Spotted's brain and the seven cats flashed through her mind, but she managed to stand and attempt to run away again. The cat's wailing, screeching yowl followed her, no matter how hard Spotted tried to block it out.
"You must and you will go to the valley and meet with the other cats, or all cats that live here will be doomed..." And then his voice faded as the nightmare ebbed.
Spotted woke with a start. She found her fur matted and her claws extended, digging into the earth. After a few moments of staring straigt ahead, recollecting the terrifying dream, she shook her head to clear it and began to clean her fur with brisk swipes of her tongue to get rid of the moss that clung to it. But as she heaved herself up out of her nest of carelessly gathered moss and leaves, Spotted felt a pain in her shoulder. She twisted her head around to inspect it and gave the dislocated shoulder a few quick licks, but there was hardly much else she could do. Spotted forced herself to ignore the pain, though she favored her left paw as she walked. Why was it that an injury she had recieved in the dream followed her into the waking world? She sighed heavily, the breeze slightly stirring her whiskers, then decided to try and catch something to eat. She hobbled through the forest, trying to stay quiet, but all she found was a blackbird, which Spotted somehow managed to sneak up on despite her injured paw and and dispatch it with a skillful swipe of her claws. The bird looked quite young and inexperienced, and she felt almost sorry for the short life it had, but she knew it was prey and meant to be eaten, so Spotted thanked it for its life and ate. She crouched down and ate it ravenously, though as hard as she tried, she couldn't get the mysterious cat's words out of her head.
Destiny is not something you can escape...
Spotted flicked an ear idly and sat up as she finished eating. She had been travelling away from the valley where the mysterious cat had instructed her to go to. She didn't want to meet up with some other cats to "fullfill her destiny." She began to groom herself, licking her slightly ruffled, soft white chest fur. Spotted gave her damaged shoulder a few more quick licks before heaving herself up painfully and continuing her trek, padding South at a steady pace. After today it will all be over, she told herself, letting out a quiet sigh. And then you can go back and continue on with your life.
