Sleep deprived eyes parted to reveal vibrant blue orbs. The snow had sank into the husky's pelt, leaving her drenched and uncomfortable. She blinked several times as her eyes adjusted to the light of the morning, scanning the team that surrounded her. They were either sleeping or just waking, adjusting themselves to the morning light and remembering once again how deprived of warmth and food they were. Several days past they had scavenged off the prey a wolf pack in the area, their scent still pungent against the decaying animal. It was different from the food the musher had fed them but, if truth be told, she liked it better. She would never tell that to Mercury.
The female stretched her forelegs, raising her hindquarters, feeling the way her muscles rippled and stretched beneath her pelt. A warm feeling settled beneath her pelt as she stood, parting her maw in a wide, tense stretch. The scent of the wolves filtered through her senses, her head tilting slightly to the side. She was intrigued by their scent, wild and untamed. The snow was almost untouched, so pure and white that it almost filtrated out the rest of the world. She dipped her muzzle into the cool white, her tongue slipping from her maw to lap at the stuff, melting it upon her tongue with a delectable taste.
At last she let her paws move, heading in the direction of Mercury, her head tilting towards the sky momentarily to scan for birds. As she dropped her her gaze, a sigh escaped her, steam rolling out from between her lightly parted jaw. "Good morning, Mercury, any plans for today?" she asked softly, her ears swiveling forward in wait.
