xxxxxzack woke up in his den, curled by addilyn. zack had become accustomed to waking up soon before the sun rises, which is somewhat earlier than most of his packmates. of course, there are few who wake up before him or quickly after. as the male arose from addilyn's side, he had to admit that it was a little colder without her warmth near him, but that thought was dismissed quickly. last night it had rained lightly, so the scents of the earth were quite apparent. as he walked out of the cave somewhat near the top to the ledge was loomed over the camp slightly. there was a rocky pathway that led down to the lieutenants' den, then the healers, and then the rest of the hunters and the warriors and even the starlets. it was occasionally unstable, but it never bothered him. however, he couldn't say the same for some of his packmates. zack had never been incredibly social and involved with his packmates' lives, mostly because he couldn't care less. why should he give a damn what those fools gossip about next? it could be about a romance or a fight. the brute couldn't care less.
xxxxxa calming and soft breeze ruffled his dark colored fur, while his bi-colored eyes scanned the camp. the leaves were damp, and still had some droplets of water on them, and the river flowed, sending a calming rush of sound and waves hitting the rocks that led to the forest. he sat down, going deep into thought. by the looks of it, the next full moon would be in two days, and no one has come up to him to ask to challenge one of his lieutenants. zack honestly hoped someone would, mainly because it gives a nice thrill to the classic howling at the moon and festivities. it had been a while since a lieutenant challenged zack, and that wolf really pissed him off. that wolf was disrespectful and immature, and this was himself saying it, as the male was also somewhat immature and impatient. of course, challenges only end by surrender or losing consciousness, and if you held back then you're damaging your pride. so, zack didn't. in result of the challenge, the challenger was badly injured and was left with a limp on his back left leg, which scared many possible challengers. zack couldn't help but give a small smirk at the thought of beating that wolf to a pulp. he didn't care if others thought his ways were violent and cruel. his own semblance was even worse. the way zack viewed it, he was being pretty merciful to his packmates during challenges. he rarely used his semblance in general.
xxxxxstarting to get a little bored, and honestly a little cold so high up in the early morning, zack heaved his body down. really he didn't want to do anything at the moment. though the idea of doing some hunting pleased him. a way to get out his bloodlust in the morning was hunting, which did give him quite a thrill, but it was never as satisfying as tearing up another wolf. some speculated that he would soon betray the pack, so go on a violent rampage and destroy everything. the idea itself wasn't bad, but zack had morals. no lies and no killing or badly harming something useful; his pack was useful. they hunted and followed his rule, whether it be respect or fear. either worked really. it was also sort of nice to have so many wolves serve under him and do his bidding. as zack was at the bottom of the slope, he went into a run. using this speed and his strength, he made a large leap over the river, landing fairly quietly considering his size. as zack ran into the dark forest, light beginning to shine through beneath the tree. there was a chance that a rabbit or something small had scurried out. of course, finding something like a deer or elk would be even better, but zack wasn't dumb enough to try on his own. deer usually went in small groups, and their antlers hurt like hell, and he wasn't keen on getting bruises. of course, he could probably take five males down if he used his semblance, but then there would be nothing left to eat. the most likely possibility was that zack would tear them apart, and he was not one to be wasteful.
xxxxxthe large male skidded to a halt as he realized that a scent of a rabbit or some small prey had come up to him. zack was somewhat far away from their home, but the territory still went on for quick a while. zack turned around as he soon found out that he had passed where the scent was strongest and began to follow it, walking as silently as possible. his paw-step by paw-step, and keeping his ears and eyes alert he followed the trail. zack kept this up for about ten minutes when he realized that it was possible the rabbit had burrowed back down into a hole, safe from zack's clutches. "damn it!" zack snarled in anger, wanting to do something to get his use all of his energy; specifically with blood. a bit cruel? yes. monster? possibly. his packmates sometimes called him that, for his violent tendencies, but zack found joy out of it. as long as he didn't hurt one of his packmates, why should they care? letting out another growl, he decided to head back. if he wanted to get a good run and hunt, then he would need more than just himself. going back into a run, he let himself not worry about the sound of his paws thump against the dirt, softened by the rainfall a few hours ago.

xxxxxpyrrha's eyelids fluttered open, a searing pain quickly awakening her. another headache. great. she hated that. always having a headache. always feeling sick. always being miserable. she hated it. and pyrhha knew why. being born under the sign of ophiuchus. and if the rumors were true, and that ever time that power is used you lose a part of yourself, then pyrhha was a ticking time bomb. she had no control over the use of her semblance. it was just always activated. letting out a sign, the gray and russet female got up and carefully walked out of the den, not wanting to wake the rest of the sleeping wolves and head to the healer's den. despite herself not liking them, for no particular reason really, they did have something herbs to help calm her headaches, which did help calm her. as she walked out of the den, she saw their 'glorious and almighty' king zack run off into the woods. he did make an impressive leap over the river though, as it was pretty wide. as much as pyrhha disliked him, she had to respect him for his abilities. except for his semblance. that was terrifying to see.
xxxxx"hey losers!" pyrrha barked loudly as she climbed up the slope to get to the healer's den. "i'm here again! i'd appreciate it if you could give me stuff for my headache!" she continued, being just a loud as before. so what she was being disruptive? pyhhra had no patience for the slow. she came to the healer's den almost every morning, so if they weren't ready for her arrival then they were even more useless than she thought. pyrrha flicked her tail and wrapped it around her back left leg, hiding the snake-like patch of white fur. despite most knowing and wondering about it, pyrhha knew what it was, and she didn't like to show it off. however the leo zodiac in a russet color on her chest she was fine with. after all, leo's were strong and proud.

[ lieutenant ] [ male ] ['balancing'] [mentions | zack]

Brief but intoxicating: what was it? Rabbit? It was near and then gone again, but enough to electrify his blood and then suddenly Pax was awake. Eyes flashing open, he felt his nose flare and his mouth soften with saliva. Sleep vanished and flickered and then he was truly awake: in his den, not out in the forest hunting, as his body had fooled him into thinking a moment ago. The energy prickled and disappeared beneath his skin -- shared energy, not his own; not for the first time, he had woken up on the fringes of someone else's experience. He knew whose it was, too; it was a king's energy. He basked in the dissipating glow, short as it was. The desire to hunt, however, had been kindled, and not falsely. Pax rose and stretched, moving with growing intent. If there was a hunt to be had, he was loathe to miss out. Flicking his ears back briefly, he stepped out of the cave and glanced up the path. It was not difficult for him to be deferential; in fact, for the most part, the solidity of his role brought him a sense of peace. Immediately following this thought, however, was the awareness that there was no solidity, and there was no peace. Mutability was in his signs and in his nature, and it flooded his brain, and all too often, his senses. The vague disorientation that followed a balancing was still leaving him -- blinking slowly in the rising sun, he took a moment to enjoy the rich scents of the earth, brought up by last night's rain: the river, lashed endlessly with scents all its own; the infinite trees and grass; the breathing soil; the sleeping and waking wolves around him; and, somewhere, yes, prey.

    (4 years ) ( female ) ( healer ) ( overgrowth (earth & light) ) ( virgo & ophiuchus ) ( tags: pyrrha, alastor, wynter )
. ── if you cannot do great things, do small things in a great way.

the rather petite female wolf was up and about early in the morning, as was her normal routine really. the sun had not even risen when she awoke, knowing she had quite a few things she needed to do today. with her semblance, she could grow any herbs she needed, as long as she was trying to grow them in the proper environment. there were a few herbs that were quite hard to find, and so far, she had only been able to find these specific ones outside of the pack's territory. so at least once a month, she traveled across the border to grow what she needed. she always did this alone, enjoying spending the time by herself to her own thoughts, and by now, her fellow healer, as well as the kind and queen, knew better than to question her or try to get her to take someone with her.

she had been organizing the herb stock since she got up, just to make sure she knew what she needed when she headed out soon. she opened her mouth, about to nudge her fellow healer awake and tell him she was gonna get going, when one of the pack's young warriors burst into the den, demanding help for her headache. bell had already prepared for this, expecting this lady's arrival as she was a regular to the healers den. grabbing the small bundle of herbs she had already wrapped up in a little leaf package, she placed it gently down at the warriors front paws. "good morning to you too pyrrha. there are your normal herbs. i hope your headache goes away quickly." turning back towards alastor, knowing there was no way he could have slept through that disruption in their den, she gave him a gentle nudge. "i'm heading out now to get those herbs outside territory, specifically some watermint, snakeroot, and raspberry leaves." she didnt really wait for a reply before she nodded goodbye to both wolves, and exited the den. approaching the river that ran parallel to their little home, she knew she couldnt just leap over it like some wolves. she was a rather petite wolf, and so she instead hopped from one stone to another to cross the river.

she stopped on the other side, taking a brief moment to get a drink from the cool water, before she took off towards the pack border by the lake. along the way, she caught the scent of a rabbit, and she slowed down her pace; grabbing a bite to eat to keep her energy up wasnt a bad idea. she went from running to barely moving, stalking the brown hare with patience. she approached it slowly but steadily, waiting until she was practically on top of the creature before she pounced, snapping its neck quickly. she ate the rabbit within a few minutes, and made sure to stop by the lake to clean her paws/muzzle before she crossed over the border. she was now in unprotected territory, so she had to be careful for lone wolves, because they were more likely to be encountered here. putting her nose to the ground, she began to sniff around, trying to locate one of the three herbs she was searching for, when she caught a scent of something completely different. blood, but not just any blood, it was wolf blood. her attention was caught, and while it wasnt her responsibility, she decided to follow the scent. her eyes landed on a young white wolf who was trying, and failing, to clean up a deep gash along her back leg. approaching slowly, she put her head down to show she meant no harm, and stopped about a foot from the other she-wolf. "hey, i caught wind of your injury. i'm a healer in the nearby pack. if you wouldnt mind, id like to take a look at your wound and see what i can do?" her voice was very gentle and soft as she spoke.

    ( 7.5 months ) ( male ) ( starlet -> warrior ) ( combustion (fire) ) ( aries ) ( tags: pyrrha )
. ── the fire doesnt make you who you are; it reveals who you were.

it had been a little over five months since the young wolf and his brother had been abandoned by their parents, and he very much was still not over it. if anything, with each passing day, as well as when anyone dared bring it up, the young male seemed to get more like an angsty teenager, moody and snappy at anyone. his mother and father had never really cared about him; at least thats what he decided. why else would two parents leave their young pup, abandoning him for no reason? magnar had refused to talk about his emotions with his older brother diablo, because even though he was likely feeling some of the same things that magnar was, he had instead decided to just bottle everything up until he inevitably would explode, sometime in the near future. magnar had been having issues sleeping for the past five months, constantly berated during his sleeping time by dreams of his parents racing off into the sunset, laughing at him.

that morning had actually been the exact opposite; it was the first good nights sleep he had gotten in months, and he was actually smiling for the first time in ages because he was dreaming of seeing wynter again, the loner who had saved his life as a young starlet. and that was when the peace ended; a loud, sharp voice rung through the camp, one that was so loud he could hear the distinct words from his den, even though they were not spoken in his starlet den. he was up on his paws in a second, his ears pinned flat against his skull and his teeth bared at the unknown enemy. he bolted out of his den so fast he almost ran into the wall, racing down the steps and into the healers den, where the sharp voice had come from. he wasnt even surprised as his eyes landed on the young warrior pyrrha, and he let out a deep snarl as he snapped. "pyrrha. could you keep your loud mouth shut for two freaking seconds? everyone else is still sleeping. and you, as normal, are being disruptive to the point of complete annoyance. so shut. the hell. up."

❅ | Wynter | Female | 2 Years | Power: "Burn" | Crush: Magnar | Tags: Belinda | ❅
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Wynter awoke early that morning. She couldn't sleep knowing that she may have just caused something bad to happen. The small male she had escorted back seemed to make her heart flutter, but she had brushed that off as soon as she brought him back to his territory. She couldn't see him again, she scolded herself for agreeing to see him again. She was afraid she would hurt him. She knew that she could get out of control so why did she accept his offer. She growled and looked outside, the mist still hung in the air. She raised her head as she lifted herself up from her bedding. A few bits of moss hung from her pure white pelt and she quickly shook them out. Stepping through the opening of the log she slept in for that night she stretched. Her joints popping from every stretch. She let out a sigh of content as she walked down from the place she had rested. Her stomach growled and she rolled her eyes, of course, she had to eat. Why couldn't she just not eat for like a day? She huffed, a breath of steam rose in the cool air. Scenting the air for any prey, she continued her walk. She found her way to a deer trail and knew she was getting closer to them. Their scent clouded her senses and she shook her head. Finally finding the herd she looked for anything weak that could be easily taken down. The flaw of being a loner is that you would have to only eat the weak. Sucks, but it still kept you alive. She noticed a small faun moving farther and farther away from the herd. Unknowingly playing into Wynter's paws. She grinned and crouched, creeping closer to the edge of the bushes. Just as she was about to pounce the alpha male lifted his head to call the faun back, she knew that she wouldn't get a better chance and she jumped. The faun raced away as she clawed after it, the alpha male charged at the pure white wolf when she got closer. She growled, dodging the antlers, still getting a deep gash along her left back leg. She somehow grabbed the faun and quickly snapped its neck. She howled loudly and growled at the herd, protecting her freshly caught prey. Picking up the body as the alpha male charged at her again she limped away as fast as she could. She finally grew tired of holding the faun's body and made it to a small creek. Dropping the body she moved her left leg to the side and began trying to clean the wound. Just then she heard a noise and her head swiveled to look at what was there. A female wolf appeared and Wynter growled lowly, trying to hide her wound and the faun. "Why. I'm not part of your pack." She stated bluntly eyeing the female. She did look like a healer and Wynter knew her wound was a bit worse than she had thought it was especially with the whole running away with a faun in her jaws. She looked away and sighed as she realized that she may as well killed herself if she didn't accept this wolf's offer. She moved to allow the female to look at it a bit closer, making sure to keep her guard up the entire time.

      ( . ) ──── x CAMILLE !!
      ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
      female ━━ 4 years ━━ lieutenant ━━ scorpio and ophiuchus ━━ "detect"

      tags: none
xxxxxxxxxThe harsh light of the spring morning seeped past Camille's closed eyelids, disturbing the natural clockwork of her mind and awakening her everlasting consciousness. Rousing her from her state of fitful sleep, the sun played with her amber irises and found itself caught in a vicious lantern of golden blazes, fire that shined so honey-sweet with the fresh sunbeams of morning that to part with such beauty is as good as death. Nevertheless, she was greeted with the pops and crackles that rang in her ears like a bitter melody as she stretched her limbs, weakened from the night she had spent tossing and turning about the den. It wasn't long before the dame found herself stepping out and onto their common grounds. The air was cool, velvety and rich against her silky white tresses, and Camille, for the first time in awhile, felt content. That wasn't to say she was formerly unhappy, in fact quite the opposite. But her naturally unrested instincts told her that the air was reeking of disfigurement. Putting those thoughts away in the back of her mind, she began a swift descent into the woods for a quick hunt.
xxxxxxxxxCamille had always been fairly certain of her rank. She had felt very honored when it was announced she'd be taking the place of the former female serving in her current position. Of course, this meant Camille would be growing closer to the king and queen, which was something she was wary of. However she knew better than to deliberately disrespect Isaac's rule, knowing that would bring nothing but torment. The she-wolf was aware that her semblance could be easily corrupt, and having been born under the sign of Ophiuchus, it was rumored she'd lose herself completely. She was cautious about hiding that peculiar little snake mark, a tiny little symbol nestled between both her petite shoulder blades. Camille was quite lucky it wasn't visible without some specific searching, as her thick white fur covered it up nicely. Her Scorpio crest was on display in a black shade under her chin, fairly large so if she lifted her head, it was on full display.
xxxxxxxxxHaving been a former hunter before she achieved the rank of lieutenant, she knew the in's and out's of the woods and wasted no time as she picked up the pace. The rainfall the night before meant that all the scents were out to mingle with her nose, and Camille perked her ears in hopes of catching a sound or two. Hunting was a fairly relaxing activity to the young lieutenant, and what better than to catch something for the pack? Luckily for them, spring had finally melted away the harsh biting teeth of winter, and the green was more lush than before. As was the prey.

xxxxxgetting closer to the camp, he could hear some kind of commotion and a loud bark from a familiar voice. pyrrha's by the sound of it. zack's ears flattened to his head in disgust. that female always disrupted the pack somehow, whether it be another fight or some loud obnoxious barking. it's like she didn't know how to keep her damn trap shut. zack slowed his pace down as the river came in view, and just walked through it this time. despite him disliking how his paws got wet, he couldn't care at this point. he was already in a bad mood, but this wolf got on his nerves even more so. despite this, he wouldn't let himself act on it, as much as he wanted to. by the looks of it, pyrrha was about to fight magnar. too bad he'd lose, despite his semblance. it wouldn't work on her. the only way anybody could win against pyrrha was to overpower her physically. a fight would always get him pumped up, even if it wasn't him. perhaps if he was lucky somebody would want to fight, and zack would gladly accept. surrender or knockout. those were the rules he placed as soon as he became alpha, which was right as he was of age.
xxxxxas he crossed the river, he thought he'd send out a howl to wake most of his packmates. it was a little earlier than when he usually would, but he couldn't care less. if they got upset for losing a few minutes of sleep, then they won't be eating. besides, the amount of prey was low, and the full moon was coming up. they'd need to stock up on food to be able to have a proper feast. then, an idea came up in his mind: it would be a risk, but it would be fun... perhaps a battle tournament? and the winner could be king or queen for a day. that did seem interesting... he'd have to bring it up to addilyn and his two lieutenants later on.

xxxxxpyrhha scooped up the herbs and chewed them up as fast as possible, only to be interrupted by a certain angsty pup. how annoying. she watched at belinda said goodbye to the awakening alastor, and moved slightly so she could leave the den. then, a horrible taste entered her mouth once again. pyrhha really needed to learn to bring them to the river so she could have a drink right after to wash it away. with no respect for the healers, she spat on the floor and then glared at magnar, puffing up her fur and standing tall. she knew that he wouldn't be intimidated by her size, but it was a good measure to confirm that she was stronger. after all, the pup couldn't use his semblance on her. it wouldn't even work. and she knew for a fact that she was physically stronger than him. he was a fool to pick a fight with her. "oh yeah little pup? you think you can shut me up?!" she growled, approached him backing the male out of the healer's den and to the edge. there was a small ledge that led to the healer's cave, and the up more was more or less the same style for all of the dens, but the dens in slightly different locations. naturally, this wouldn't be common, but with semblances, they were able to carve out a somewhat natural looking and useful system. at least, that's what the story was. the first wolf to have a semblance had an earth element called "earth mover." every pup heard this story.
xxxxxbefore going back into deep thought, she bared her teeth. "so kid, still wanna fight?" she demanded, knowing full well he'd probably accept it and end with a crushing defeat. fights were allowed as long as they had a superior supervising them. looking around, she noticed the female lieutenant, and best friend of pyrrha, stepping out of the lieutenant's den. a grin formed on her face. there was going to be a fight whether magnar liked it or not, and camille was going to supervise it. "hey, camille!" she called out to her one and only friend in the pack. if you had to guess, she was why pyrrha was still even in this pack. or perhaps she just wanted to overthrow zack. "me and this idiotic pup are gonna fight. supervise it, will ya?" she asked, dismissing magnar as she went up to approach her friend.

Kayn had awoken to the sound of the rushing river his eyes opening lazily to the bright morning sun. His fur had been damp from the rain that occurred the night before, why he didn't sleep in his den you'd never know, perhaps he just likes the noise the river provides. The brute stumbled to his petit paws before opening his muzzle to let out a small yawn he then shook his thick coat to rid of it of the water that was trapped in it. He then listened as Zack had issued the wake-up call, perfect timing Kayn thought to himself before making his way back to see if Belinda was awake and around, unfortunately she wasn't however, Pyrrha was. Kayn rolled his eyes a little before approaching the she-wolf his soft honey eyes met hers as he spoke. "G-good M-morning."He said politely to Pyrrha before asking the whereabouts of Belinda. "D-do you h-have any idea w-where B-Belinda i-is?"His eyes wandered back to the ground as his ears flattened against his skull, Dammit Kayn he thought to himself must I have to stutter, I sound so stupid! His face gaining a small amount of colour as he looked at the she-wolf. His mind wandered off he had always wondered why Belinda was so kind to him everyone seems annoyed by his stutter. That Damned stutter but she didn't mind it was as if she wanted to listen to what he had to say and waited for him to finish speaking. His mind wandered so much he was oblivious of what was happening around him, Pyrrha wanting to fight a pup he snapped back into reality and let out a hushed "S-sorry. before stumbling back and out of the den. Hopefully, she wouldn't want to fight him he'd probably weep.

The breeze was mild and blew gently against the wolf's multi-colored fur. It seemed as if the day was perfect. The sun shone calmly in the sky. The water in the river gently washed against the rocks and calmly made it's way downstream. Valdus took in a large breath of air, satisfied with his position. He raised his muzzle to the sky in search for a piece of prey to calm his hungry stomach, however instead of finding prey, he caught wind of something rather different. He scented another wolf, around his size, maybe a little bigger. It was a male, which worried him slightly. Valdus let out a huff of disappointment as he followed the scent trail of the other wolf. It led to the river, but there wasn't anyone there. The loner contemplated crossing the shallow water, and debated staying in the forest, but his curiosity got the best of him and he decided to continue on. He placed a gentle paw in the water and winced at the freezing temperature. He let his mind wander as he continued forth, and wondered why there was another lone wolf in these parts. He himself had accidentally wandered into the forest while chasing a piece of prey ━ which inevitably had got away ━ into it, and decided to explore further. Now his interest was spiked, and he wanted to figure out the other wolf's motives.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Val's nose was lowered to the ground, gently brushing the dirt. The scent was starting to get muddled as he began to lose sight of the river behind him. It was mixed with other scents that he couldn't decipher. Suddenly, he froze. A chilling howl ran through his ears and his ears perked, snapping him out of his trance. It didn't seem like a threatening call, however. It sounded as if it was a 'waking' call. The pieces began to click together as the loner stood there, still frozen. The mystery scents were the mingled scents of other wolves, a pack. Now Valdus's curiosity had reached it's highest peak. He had only seen a 'pack' once, when he was younger. The memory made him shudder. His father, once part of a pack, had killed his family in cold blood, only allowing Val to escape. To him, packs were ruthless killing clusters. They were something Valdus wanted no part in. However, he was curious as to what there mannerisms were, and how they acted towards each other. Alas, he kept going.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Finally, after many minutes of trekking up the mountain, a glob of black was spotted against the grass. Val sank low to the ground, and flattened his ears to the side of his head. To keep from being seen, he managed to hide behind various rocks and trees as he kept going. His tail brushed the dirt, and he was confident that the wolf wouldn't be able to scent him. He thought. The other wolf had an air of dominance around him. Pools of dread began to form inside of the loner's stomach, and he had the smallest feeling that something would go terribly wrong.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀There was a crack. With a look of pure horror on his face, Valdus glanced down at his paws. His front paw had landed directly on a small twig. The noise split the silence and he scrambled to find a good cover before the other had time to examine the noise. Hopefully, it had not been heard. But Val was sure that was not the case.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Iris's golden eyes fluttered open and were greeted with pale sunlight filtering in through the den. She blinked her eyes rapidly a few times to adjust to the morning light. The wake-up howl was issued early today, and it made Iris grumble with annoyance, of course, she wouldn't mention this to the king. She was terribly frightened of him. She was frightened of almost everyone in the pack. They were all very large, and had a threatening aura. Except for Tova. The thought of the older female comforted her. With a small huff she managed to awkwardly stand up and stretch. The starlet trotted out of the den, feeling slightly more confident now that she had woken up completely. The camp was barren, since it was so early she supposed some of the wolves hadn't heard the call or dismissed it. It made her feel much better that she had woken up. However there was one thing that was out of the ordinary. She spotted Pyrrha, the one wolf she feared the most, and Magnar, another starlet. They seemed to be gathering a crowd. Her heart began to thump rapidly in her chest as she watched them spit out comments back and forth. Iris was much more desperate to find Tova now. After a few seconds of frantically searching the vicinity, her eyes landed on the one wolf she had hoped to find. A sigh of relief escaped the female and she hurried over, keeping her gaze low and her tail down.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀As she neared, her ears flattened against her skull. Pyrrha seemed to be getting angry, and she had even asked Camille to supervise a fight between the older female and her fellow starlet. She closed her eyes and took a few breaths of air, and willed herself not to look at the brewing fight. When she opened them again, Tova was in front of her, and she almost ran right into the female. She abruptly stopped herself, causing her to fall backwards onto her rump. She let out a yelp of surprise as she hit the ground and felt her cheeks flush with embarrassment."Sorry." Iris mumbled apologetically. She glanced up at Tova and scooted herself closer to the hunter, pressing her flank up to the older wolf's. The starlet looked up again, and almost gasped. Magnar was being backed to the ledge of the healer's den. She closed her eyes again and turned her muzzle to the ground. "I want them to stop." She murmured, curling her tail around her petite frame.

The sound of a loud voice booming out across the camp was what woke Tova. She jumped awake with her frantic heart already fluttering within her chest. Her head had quickly popped up and now she was looking around at the scenery that surrounded her with her wide, frightened eyes. Earth swma through her gaze, scared that something bad had happened. Though, she soon let guard down and relaxed her tensed muscles when she realized it was simply Pyrrha acting as she always did. She didn’t mind the female, but when she was startled awake from a peaceful sleep by her loud, booming voice it caused a low groan to roll out from Tova’s mouth as she stretched out her front legs after lifting herself to her paws. There was no point in trying to get back to sleep at this point, her heart was still pounding loudly against her chest and she had to sit down again once her cramped muscles were stretched out to relieve some of the tension from lying still for so long. She sat there for a moment, blinking the sleepiness out of her warm-toned, brown eyes which were still half-lidded as precious sleep gnawed at the back of her mind. The fuzzy-furred female yawned and when her teeth snapped shut, she craned her neck around to begin grooming her fur. The uncontrollable mess of rough fur that she had to deal with on a daily looked even more messy in the mornings. She refused to leave the hunters’ den looking like a mess. So she busied herself with working out the kinks in her off-white pelt.

It didn’t take long to clean herself, but when Tova left the den — feeling refreshed and awake — she saw that a conflict was already brewing within the camp. She hadn’t even heard the young starlet, Magnar, challenge the experienced Pyrrah, but it seemed as if that was what was going on. These type of duels weren’t uncommon in the pack and Issac, the king, didn’t seem to mind at all if his pack members fought. She, personally, didn’t like it one bit. Challenges for ranks were one thing, but random spars would only cause more trouble and stir up more drama in her eyes. She gave the two sparking wolves a wide berth as she walked towards a flat rock. Once her paws touched the flattened stone a howl rang out across the territory, Issac’s wake up call was early today. But she was awake anyways so she flicked her ears down and took a seat on the rock, her eyes flicked between Pyrrah, Magnar and Camille. The young starlet had no chance of winning this fight and she just hoped that he wouldn’t get hurt. Her heart reached out to the young wolf, feeling scared for him, even though he seemed quite unafraid of the challenge. But, her mind could only flit from one bad outcome to the other. She would hate to see this turn out bad. Though, she kept her maw shut, not wanting to get involved. Pyrrha tolerated her — or so she hoped — and Tova always tried to remain kind to her. She didn’t want to make any enemies.

The tension built up and more and more wolves woke up after the king’s wake up howl. The two preparing to fight had caught plenty of attention already. It seemed as if everyone was eager to see a fight. But, as a small body jumped away from Tova, she saw that one other wolf shared her desire for the fight to not occur. Iris stared sheepishly up at Tova from where she had fallen down after almost running into the older wolf. At the young female’s apology, the hunter smiled kindly and leaned towards Iris as she sat down and cuddled up to her side. Her soft voice reached Tova’s ears and her heart ached for the empathetic starlet. She was too sweet and pure for this pack, if only the other wolves could see that what she lacked in muscle and strength, she made up for with her heart of gold. Perhaps if she was more encouraged to be herself she wouldn’t be as jittery. Tova swallowed back her sigh and pressed closer to the skinny starlet, “Unfortuntely we can’t stop them, little flower,” she murmured, “It’s just something that happens sometimes.

Tova gazed down at Iris and her snow-white pelt and momentarily rested her chin atop of her small forehead. The protective, comforting gesture was one she tended to use when other, younger wolves needed to feel safe. The motherly hunter looked away from Iris and back to the group of wolves forming near the healer’s den, “We don’t have to watch, though. If you want we could go out in the forest, try to catch something maybe?” she offered gently, smiling down at Iris and hoping to brighten her spirits. In fact, she didn’t want to see Magnar get beat by Pyrrah at all.

only in the darkness can you see the stars.

xxxxwith a contented sigh, akira opened her eyes and let out a small yawn. she glanced around the dim cave, only to see that she was the last starlet left inside. 'damn it, i overslept again!' she mentally scolded herself. the grey wolf stood and stretched, listening to the sound of the river nearby and the camp slowly coming to life. the peace was interrupted by the usual wake-up howl, though it seemed a bit earlier than usual. she rose out of her usual feline-like position that she resorted to whilst stretching and made her way out of the cave. as she moved into the light, akira blinked a couple times to let her eyes adjust. once she recovered, she observed the activity in the camp. a group of wolves were clustered above where she stood, but she didn't pay them much attention as she recognized the voice of pyrrha, a rather spirited warrior, and assumed she was getting herself into yet another fight.

xxxxinstead, she focused her gaze on the dark-colored wolf near the river. that wolf happened to be the king, zack. akira shuddered slightly at the sight of him. everything about him radiated violence and power. it reminded her of her father. no matter how hard she tried, akira couldn't get the image of him disappearing into the forest out of her head. rather than thinking about him though, she shook out her fur and padded over to the river, giving the king a respectful nod as she passed him. she only stopped heading downstream when she was far enough away from zack to feel comfortable again. she slowly inched into the cool water, only letting herself go in to the point where the water covered a quarter of her leg, not any deeper. she didn't want to get swept away, even though the current wasn't very strong at the moment. she could already feel the cold seeping through her bones and it was a bit too icy for her liking, but it definitely woke her up.
