It wasn’t Gull’s words that initially woke up Polaris — though her clear voice rang through the den, where all the remainder of the pack slept, after the warrior had awoken — in fact it was a dream. She jolted awake suddenly with widened eyes, but her head soon fell back onto her outstretched paws with a frustrated huff escaping past her maw. She had dreamt of herself, younger and untroubled, hunting. Such a simple dream. But she closed her eyes tightly and reached back to the feeling of bliss she had felt, spreading warmly throughout her entire body, during that dream. It wasn’t often that she had a good dream, most of the time she didn’t fall into a deep enough sleep to dream at all. Always half awake, jumping up at every sound. She was always on alert, that serene dream was an oddity and she desperately wished that her waking hours could be that peaceful.
Though, at the leader’s call she was on her feet and walking towards the white-furred female who stood in the mouth of the den, a slight halo of light surrounded her shadowed figure. Her paws felt heavy and her sleep gnawed at the back of her brain. Polaris shook her head in annoyance, I feel less tired in the mornings when I don’t sleep all night, she thought gruffly as she stopped near Gull, “A hunt sounds nice,” she said, quietly adding in her two-cents worth as the pack chimed on with their own words all around her. She needed to stretch her cramped legs. Polaris felt all the other pack members push up closer to Gull and soon the brown-furred female was shouldering her way out of the den to stop in the open space. The fresh air filled her lungs and suddenly she felt the welcoming refreshed feeling of getting a full-night’s rest. She bowed down, front legs stretched out in front of her, and sighed in relief as the tension eased in her limbs. She hadn’t caught the rabbit she was chasing in her dream, so now she was itching to actually catch something that was real and would provide for the pack.

GULL . ❞ [ five years ] [ queen ] [ emotions: optimistic ] [ tagged: all ] [ words: 393 ]
─────────────────────────────────────────
xxxxxxxxxxGull watched as her pack-mates stood one by one. stretching their tired limbs and blinking the sleep from their eyes. her gaze shifted toward the sound of her adopted daughter, the princess, voice. she requested to hunt alone. Gull's chest tightened at the thought. she imagined a meeting with the faceless loners. Aerin was still young and quite small. she could outrun danger, but facing two enemies head on would be suicide. though, she knew the princess was stubborn, and if she had a good enough reason for not hunting with the pack, she would find a way to do it. ❝ alright. I'm sure the rest of us can manage. perhaps Atlas could accompany you? ❞ she spoke with a hopeful lilt to her voice.
xxxxxxxxxxthe respectable healer, Atlas, was now by Gull's side. he stood shoulder to shoulder with her, his pelt barely brushed hers. some would call this level of proximity disrespectful, but the queen felt welcomed by the brute's closeness. she wanted her pack to feel comfortable around her. after all, they only had each other. she nodded to Atlas before stepping away from the mouth of the den. Polaris approached, agreeing to the offer of a hunt. Gull admired the warrior. she had managed to stay strong throughout the terrible winter. or at least, she appeared so. the queen noticed the look in her eyes. that of exhaustion, and apathy. she wanted to be of much more comfort to Polaris, since she had helped the pack so tremendously, but Gull knew the she-wolf would never allow her to be privy to such soul bearing emotions.
xxxxxxxxxxGull looked toward the back of the cave, where the prince sat. his shoulder was pressed against the wall. he had changed so much from the pup she had known. his father's death and the death of most of the pack had obviously had a great toll on him. his mother felt deeply sorry. she could not train him properly to be a king, and she panicked internally at the thought of leaving him to handle the pack alone. Gull took a step toward the den once more, and lowered her cranium to meet Tiberus' gaze before speaking. ❝ Tiberius, would you like to lead our expedition on this fine morning? ❞ she hoped the prospect of being in charge would cheer him up, even a little.

xxxxxxxher ears pinned back as she offered atlas to come with her when she had stated that she wanted to go alone. with a small huff she looked towards atlas before looking back at gull her mother, she guessed that atlas would be gathering herbs whilst she was patrolling the area. "but mum...." she said with slight announce in her voice as she stubborn ways started to appear. she knew her mother say her as still vulnerable because of her size and all she wanted was for her to be safe. but as she moved on to the others in her pack ignoring her she knew she didn't want to argue. with a small huff of air escaping through her maw she looked towards the healer of the pack. she had nothing against atlas of course seeing him as her friend, it just she wanted to patrol alone. "okay atlas let's go" she said to the wolf as she took lead.
xxxxxxxnow with the youngest of the pack following her she felt as if she had to protect him, she was the princess but also she felt like it was her response ability to do so. perhaps in her mother's eyes she saw atlas was protecting her? however the more she made her way deeper into the territory the more she couldn't care that he was following. the princess lifted her snout up and sniffed the air trying to catch any scents that didn't belong in this territory. her nose soon caught possibly two different scents that had entered their home. "i think i got something atlas, stay behind me" she told the healer as she made her way towards the closest scent. her eyes scanned the area and her nose had locked onto the scent. she placed her nose to the ground sniffing around as she pushed the leaves finding paw prints in the mud. they looked fresh but again it could just be the packs. she carried on walking, lifting her head up as she searched. she stood to her full height with her head raised and her tail straight behind to show dominance. her brown eyes then locked onto a wolf, it looked as if the winter had took a toll on him as well.
xxxxxxxshe needed to remain dominate, this was her territory and her pack to protect however he looked he was in no position to fight. however there was another wolf lurking around here it could be his friend they could try and take her and atlas on so she had to remain visualant. she walked out to confront the loner "what do you think you are doing here?" she said with a slight growl escaping her muzzle, her ears were pinned back against her skull. but the more she looked over him with her brown eyes she could see how much this winter season had done to him but he looked rather handsome.

( ♛. ) ──── x❛ SILAS !! ❜
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
male ━━ 3.5 years ━━ suspicious outsider
tags: aerin, atlas
xxxxxxxxxSilas didn't get far with his endeavors before his nose caught a scent in the breeze. A pack wolf, no doubt. Hackles raising at the mere thought, he wasn't surprised to find that it was two scents. On guard within moments of his discovery, the young male kept low as he wandered along the border, occasionally crossing it here and there in hopes for a stronger lead. Silas wasn't scared of the pack wolves, which was the reason behind his bold movements. And anyway, what did he have to lose? He had been getting alone just fine on his own without others to protect or worry at all about. Selfish? Maybe it was. But the promise of living another day was surely enough of a justification.
xxxxxxxxxStopping in his tracks when his ears picked up stirring amongst the grasses, his hopes were high that it was an unsuspecting piece of prey. Disappointed to find it was a pair of pack wolves. The female was quick to confront him, and he snarled aggressively as his ears flattened themselves against his head. Though she seemed more well-fed than he was, Silas still towered over her in size and height, his left-over muscle still rippling beneath his skin and fur. At her growl, he produced one of his own, though it was louder and empty, no tolerance left in his tone. Yet another way his life changed him.
xxxxxxxxxStill unflinching, he kept his eyes locked on the stranger. "I could ask the same of you, princess. Wandered a little too far from your royal chambers, hm?" Silas taunted, his voice calmer than he originally expected. She seemed to believe he'd be intimidated by her upfront attitude, but that wasn't the case at all. In fact, Silas didn't see her as enough of a threat. At least, not yet. Poking his head past her gaze, his honey-eyes came to rest on a male, no doubt accompanying her. Silas wasn't one to make too many assumptions but in this moment, he didn't care. The white-pelted male standing behind her looked soft. Turning back to the female, he snorted in amusement. "Brought someone to protect you, too? Darn, I was hoping it'd be just us," Silas chortled venomously, still somewhat assessing the two.

xxxxxxxas the male growled towards her, her ears pinned back as he showed his fangs towards her she snarled a little herself. her brown eyes locked onto the male in front of her but she narrowed her eyes as he called her 'princess' how would he know her role? or perhaps he was just saying it because she was in fact a female but she wasn't going to challenge him on it. although he did call her royal, what was this male getting at? had he been spying on them all this time but surely they wouldn't of noticed this loner being around the pack. with another growl escaping her maw, she heard him saying if she brought someone to protect her, she looked behind her remembering that atlas was there. the white male seemed to be quite nervous from what she saw from his features. the female quickly turned back to the male, this male seemed to be teasing her.
xxxxxxxwas this all a joke to him? when she heard atlas's words that quietly slipped out of his mouth her features softened. he was right they were too weak to fight at this moment, they had lost so much muscle during the winter they were in no state to fight this out. with sigh escaping though her lips, she tried to think of a way around this. this male had entered her territory with a possible friend that seemed to lurking around. what was he doing here? she wondered her threatening behaviour had to stop so she wouldn't provoke him to fight. "i apologise for my attitude, but you have entered our territory... what is your reason of entering?" she asked in a soft more relaxed tone. she still stood to her full height but with her ears perked and her tail straight as she remained interested towards him. her pack wasn't in the right state to fight anyone, but they needed to keep the strength up to hunt, this day was crucial for them as they needed to start to gain their weight back and also their muscles. with this loner entering the pack it could go to ways, he could either join them or leave. but they needed to expand the back since they had lost so many members due to the storm. it might be a good idea to get this wolf to join them to add extra member to the pack, they needed to rebuild.

He'd thrown a smile at the princess to try and quell any feelings of distaste that had arisen from the queen's choice to place Atlas with what from all angels looked like babysitting. He understood, he was still young and he hadn't the slightest training in combat or hunting. He would always do his best even if that would never be enough for his aching soul. He would sometimes ponder at night the fate that would have awaited him if he had fled with his family and kin. Perhaps his skin wouldn't be clinging to his bones, fur battered and thinning. He wouldn't long after a present that wasn't his own, he had made his bed a long time ago and it was a bed that he was proud to sleep in.
He followed the princess as she lay charge into their territory, feeling himself fall behind as she seemed to take off faster than him. He felt his chest become uneasy as the reminder of how stronger his packmates were. He slowed down a little more, letting out a huff as he followed the principle of slow and steady. The sight of Aerin rather abruptly drawing to a halt made his heart beat in his chest, pulling to a halt at her side her words caught him uneasy. What had she scented? He took in a deep breathe of the air and felt his hackles raise. Yes, there was someone else in their territory. He wanted to back up, to stand behind her as she said but his paws were like iron chained to the ground unmoving. The stranger's voice was like pure adrenaline to his heart and he found every part of him wanting to flee. Yet he stood there staring in the direction of this newcomer, letting waves of panic wash over him until an eerie calm washed over him. With that calm came the smallest ounce of confidence and words slipped from his mouth. Like a quiet whisper. "Please, it's been a long winter we don't need this tragedy on top of everything else," he took a step forward taking a deep breath to steady his walk. "It's affected you too, how about I look you over and give you some herbs for strength." His words alone took a near instant effect on the princess, calming her posture and even her tone of voice as she took the offer he had given and extended it two-fold. [410]
