the border collie heard someone approaching before she saw them. that dog had been renata. it didn't take long for other dogs to wake as she listened to the other female's words and her question. what did they need? honestly just food and blankets, though water was in short supply but they couldn't exactly carry that. everyone had to leave at some point to find something to drink, whether it be a puddle or not. her gaze turned towards the outside again and noticed a figure move off to the side of her vision. kade had laid down not far from her and was eating. offering a nod to the male before he left, she turned her attention back to renata. dropping back down to all fours, she thought long and hard on what was needed more than all else. "i know we need food, though that is obvious. maybe some more blankets or some sort of fabric to help keep others warm." the female stated in response to her question finally after such a long pause. the food stash was growing low, though that was typically normal on a day by day basis. with more mouths to feed, they would need more food and well, that seemed difficult unless sheba made the decision to move soon. to that place beyond the city that some dogs spoke of. though the clickers and runners still roamed there, they were not as bad and the female could only hope that these were truths and not some made up fairy tale for dogs to escape to only to be disappointed.

she was sure that the wild life was still about, adapting to life just as she had and the dogs around her. she was pulled out of her own thoughts when small paw steps approached rather quickly and someone small in stature laid beside her. it was echo, the young pup was lively as ever, despite the dangers of the world they lived in. of course sheba hadn't allowed the pup out much unless in a group, she trusted the pup's instincts that she would prove herself and not end up dead like many others. "good morning echo." she said softly. it seemed everyone had slowly but surely managed to remember not to raise their voices, while they were safe, anything could happen if there was too much racket going on.

βž₯ is it true? ﹚001.

"Who?" the Siberian husky murmured, her mind still clouded over with sleep. Because for one brief, shining moment, Eska had seen the statuesque figure of her sister poised by the door of the shoe store that her pack called home, head angled towards her as if to say, "I see you". Sakari looked how she had always looked β€” polished and glowing, the fine hairs along the ridge of her spine alit with pale gold morning light. From their lush white fur and brilliant blue eyes, the two sisters were startling mirror-images of each other. Then suddenly the early dregs of daylight spun through the glass panels of the window displays, shattering this beautiful mirage, and Eska's hopes along with it.

The tension released from her limbs in one hot flush, and Eska slumped back down on the dim corner that was her usual sleeping place, feeling utterly drained. Sakari was gone as with a puff of smoke, spiralling away into the breaking dawn that had never seemed so bleak, or so weary. What would she give to see her family again? Anything, Eska knew, but that dream was now as distant and unrealistic as ever returning the earth to the way it was before all this trouble started. As if to make up for the molten wave of disappointment crashing down on her, Eska carefully rearranged her anguished features into a smooth mask of indifference and slowly blinked her aquamarine orbs. The shop gradually came into higher definition till her brain was almost reeling from the jarring influx of sights and details. Eska was uncomfortably aware of how her dusty blanket underfoot was scattered with rough particles of dirt that bit into her skin, so she gingerly rose to her feet, picked it up very gently by the teeth, and forcefully shook it back and forth.

Once she had finished, Eska meticulously laid it in its usual position and straightened up to her full height, joints popping satisfyingly. Shaking herself, she unhinged her jaw and bared her fangs in a long yawn. The elegant husky surveyed the shoe store. Some dogs were already beginning to stir while others stayed motionless within slumber. Amongst those awake, Rena and Sheba were talking by the door, with the little pup Echo about their feet. Eska took all this in with a painfully impassive expression. She rarely have away any emotion and even when she did, other dogs liked to question its authenticity. For all they knew, Eska could be hiding her scorn behind a practised laugh, or pain behind an "I'm alright". Let it be kept that way. It was an unspoken theory that she preferred to be left alone.

Knowing she should be scouring the vicinity for any clickers or runners now, Eska sank into a languid stretch before picking up her feet and padding towards the door. She nodded at both Rena and Sheba in turn in greeting, then slunk around the edge of the door into the full morning light. Immediate heat fanned across her white pelt β€” which was significantly less white than it used to be β€” and she pricked her ears, eager to get more blood pumping through her sleep-laden system.

✧ "if i let your hand go, you might fly away and break. i'm scared."

Haunt

I. Four yr/o II. Fem III. Golden Retriever IV. Guardian V. Tags; Mentions; beep beep jeep

She was matted, terribly so, and stood quite short. The female was considerably on the lower side of size medium but she did not let this be her downfall. To her, her size was a convenience if nothing else. Her paws, despite her size, were quite large. This too did not bother her, though it did make her look very much like an adolescent rather than the adult she was. Haunt's eyes were dark, mysterious, and shone brilliantly at the slightest hint of light and gave her yet another trait that made her seemingly younger in appearance. This was what Haunt was, a mess of fur with a soul that pierced the very veil time had attempted to create. She was young of heart...

Unfortunately, she also had the attention span and hyperactive energy of a mere puppy. Currently Haunt's hyperfixation was the leather seats of a blue Jeep Wrangler, in which she tore into ruthlessly and ripped the material away delicately. Her intentions were for the greater will, she intended to bring back the leather to the gang back at what she now called home. How they would make use of it she was unsure but she relished the feeling of leather beneath her teeth and thought at the very least they could utilize the strips as chew toys.

With a quiet growl the retriever proceeded to absolutely shred the seats of the poor Jeep, intent on absolutely destroying it in its entirety. Of course, this was not what she was supposed to be doing. She was supposed to be patrolling but it seems that she happened to be a little busy in this moment... Unfortunate.

    [ 7 years ][ Female ][ Great Pyrenees ][ Guardian ]

The early morning sun came streaming in to the old shoe store, bathing the grungy area with soft light. Gerladene huffed when a shaft of light pierced her eyelids, forcing her to finally wake up for the day. She yawned languidly before licking her chops. Standing, she bowed and stretched out all her sleepy muscles, feeling the muscles along her spine especially. It felt great. The Great Pyrenees shook out her coat, the pure white now a dingy gray from the rubble and dust of the once-city. She needed a bath something fierce.

As soon as the sleep left her muscles, she was in Guardian mode. Nails clicking on the tile, she paced the aisles, her soft brown eyes surveyed the shoe store, sweeping back and forth to take tabs on her new flock. As she swept, her flop ears perked and zeroed into sounds, alert for any sounds that may be out of place. She watched as Eska left the store, noticing as Echo drew closer to Sheba and Rena who spoke in hushed tones. The female sighed again, her great chest heaving. She missed her life before, she missed her owner, and most of all she missed her flock. But, for now, this would have to do.
