If anyone had been walking through the camp late that night, if they had walked past the subordinate's den, they might have noticed a pale muzzle poking out of the entrance. It's owner - the normally boisterous, energetic male that was rarely quiet, even in his sleep, lay silent and still, gazing out into the sleeping camp. He had found it difficult to sleep that night, and had picked his way over his sleeping packmates to sit in the mouth of the large den to gaze out at the moonlit camp. The world was silent, no sound but the rustle of the light breeze moving the leaves nearby reaching Daithí's ears. He shifted his weight slightly, lowering his head onto his paws. His brown gaze raised to the sky, resting on the pale moon that was steadily lowering itself to the horizon. He blinked slowly, watching it for a moment before lowering his gaze again, his eyes landing on the Alpha's den. Ariya had called off the meeting with the dogs after a bad feeling, and then had remained alone for the rest of the evening. He had kept himself busy, hunting for the morning when everyone woke, but then, in the silence of the night, found himself worrying. Was Ariya alright? What had given her the bad feeling? Was everything okay? With a little sigh, he tore his eyes away from her den. He had no idea that she, too, was awake, and assumed that she would probably not be happy with him if he woke her up with his questioning.
Soft birdsong filled the forest, and soon enough the gray sunrise began. Hearing his denmates begin to stir, he stood with a stretch, moving out of the way of the den's mouth to allow them to leave. He turned, padding out of the camp entirely now. He followed one of the well-used trail at a steady walk, head low, ears alert for any signs of prey. A snapping twig coming from in front of him made him sink his weight, all worry now banished from his mind as his eyes fell on a young buck, reaching up to pull some leaves off a nearby tree. Daithí knew he couldn't take down a deer by himself, but he could definitely have some fun. His tail began to wag softly as he began to sneak forward, a smirk decorating his features now. He let out a deep, rumbling growl, chuckling as the buck snapped to attention. The pair made eye contact for a brief moment, then the deer spooked, taking off into the forest. Daithí launched forward with a playful bark, catching up to the buck in a number of strides. He nipped at its hind legs as it fled, growling theatrically as he did so. The buck launched himself forward onto its front legs and lashed out with its pointed hind hooves, neither hitting their mark directly, but one brushing the skin just below Daithí's eye. He let out a splitting yelp, tumbling to the ground. He sat up with a shake of his head just in time to catch a final glimpse of the deer as it disappeared into the woods. With a grumble, Daithí pawed at his face, groaning when his paw came away with scarlet droplets of blood. Standing, he shook out his pelt, turning tail and heading back to camp, still grumbling.

Sleeping was clearly something that was difficult for many pack members after the news of their leader's passing, and it was no different for Andraste. Her night had been filled with broken sleep and vivid dreams, and when she awoke the next morning, she found herself even more tired than she had been the night before. Groaning as her joints protested to sudden movement, she stood, stretching low and then padding out of the den. It was mornings like this when she missed her old pillows and blankets. Some dogs were milling around camp already, and she dipped her head in greeting to anyone who made eye contact. She sighed and sat down in her usual spot just outside the den, the morning sunshine warming up her very bones as she sat. She kept her head low, looking to her pale paws as she sat. Her heart, not only heavy with the loss of their leader, was also heavy with the fact that Lucifer had been killed while she was around, while she had been on duty. She was a camp fighter, and yet she was not there to protect him. She was almost fearful of interacting with Eremos, worried that he might blame them for the death. She sighed softly, wondering what camp life would be like from now on.

Ariya (2) Beau (2) Casanova (1)

Age: Two and a Half

The small she-wolf neared camp and began to pick up her pace, bounding through the leaf riddled forest. She paused just outside camp when she heard a familiar voice. Ariya's head turned, seeking out Astra. She found her quickly, the white wolf standing out quite well. She smiled and gave a soft wag of her tail as she rounded back and padded along side Astra. "Good morning, Astra." She replied softly as they walked towards camp. "What brings you into the forest so early today?" Ariya questioned and once they entered camp she found many of her pack still asleep. 'Good, everything is okay right now.' She gestured for Astra to follow her to the ledge by her den for the duo to speak. She sat down, allowing her tail to lay behind her. While waiting for a response from Astra, Ariya's eyes scanned the camp, some were starting to stir. Once everyone was up she'd send out a hunting and a patrol party. Her mind wandered to Daithí. He didn't seem too happy yesterday about her changing her mind and she felt a little bad for abandoning him, she planned to show him places in the territory he didn’t know and to spend the day with him…but she bailed on him. She sighed inwardly and flickered an ear, glancing back up at Astra.

❖ Beau's eyes scanned the camp every few minutes, seeking out entertainment or anyone that may need him. He spotted Lealia and Eremos and offered a nod of recognition to the duo. Continuing his scan of the camp he saw Andraste. He was never very fond of the tall dog, she frightened him if nothing else, but she seemed awfully upset as of now. He hopped down from his rock and padded over. "Good morning, Andraste." He greeted as he approached her from the side. He sat next to her and looked up. "How was your night? Was your sleep as troubled as mine?" He asked with a sigh and shook his head slowly. He couldn’t get the bloody scene of Lucifer's body out of his mind. What had happened? He wanted to know. Would they ever find out the truth. There was a scent, one he couldn't quite place at the scene. Canine for sure. But he couldn't distinguish whether it was wolf or dog or whatever.

Casanova boldly trotted through the wolf territory, his head and tail both held high as he strolled. He had no business to attend to, he wasn't hungry, he was just passing time. Casanova shook out his dark colored pelt, his eyes landing on a human structure ahead. A bright smile lit up his face, The Human Den! Surely he could find something to do here. He isn't sure why he chose to roam the dog territory today rather than the wolf territory but when he heard Ariya's howl, he knew because he's come to recognize all of the leaders, he knew the wolves would all be at camp and that would leave him with no one to play with. That's no fun. He padded up the steps and slipped into The Human Den, sticking his nose in all the nooks and crannies. He's never actually had the time to explore inside. With a sigh he sat on an old rug in the center of the floor and glanced out the window, lost in thought. Each pack was so different it was hard to believe dogs and wolves were related in any possible way. The wolf pack was wild and regal, led by pairs, and well everyone was the same breed, not to mention far more organized than the dogs. While the dog pack was were still getting the hang of being wild, their leaders each ruled alone, they weren't yet as hardened as the wolves but they sure were doing well for where they came from. He shook his head and sighed. "Where is the name of anything is Aura?" He huffed aloud, he hadn’t seen his sister all day! Aura never just up and left without telling Casanova where she was going and he was mildly worried. A little more than mildly. He loved his little sister with everything he had and all he wanted to do was protect her. He couldn't do that is he didn't know where she was! Though, Aura had the advantage of looking more wolf than he did. The brute groaned and plopped down onto the floor of the home, his body making a loud thud as he hit the floor. He was lost as to what to do.

Pyro jerked up his muzzle. He'd remembered Ariya saying she would have a meeting with the dogs --- Pyro shook the thought away. He stalked out of the scouts' den, dipping his head towards Ariya, along with a soft smile. The male left the camp, heading towards the Meadow of Delight. He gingerly walked around the meadow, wary of snakes. The scent of prey filled his nose, like as if he was lapping up water. Maybe he could hunt also, while he was here.
Pyro lunged towards a rabbit he was trying to get. He managed to get a grip of the rabbit; he quickly bit it before it could escape. He picked up the rabbit, whipping towards the forest, and heading back to camp. Maybe he could share the prey --- nevermind. He'd love to share it, but he was kind of hungry himself.

Lotus swam around, enjoying a tune the birds made. The water plunged at the warrior's pelt every second, feeling as if the water was washing her. The she-wolf crawled out of the lake, shaking her pelt. She made her way back to camp. When she made it there, she could see the pack up and about. Her gaze dropped on Ariya and Astra. "Good morning, Ariya and Astra!" She woofed. Sliding into camp, she also noticed that Ariya seemed a little troubled. The warrior wanted to ask what was wrong, but quickly changed her mind. She slid into the warrior's den; she had been tired ever since she was at the lake. Lotus quickly drifted off to sleep.

Atlas rested his muzzle on his paws. The thought of Lucifer filled his mind. It felt like he just swallowed a rock, making words unable to come out. Head down, Atlas walked out of the den. He could see Beau, on his "rock," with Andraste. Ambling towards them, he met their gaze. "Hi, Beau and Andraste." He mumbled. "Did you have a good night's sleep?" Atlas regret saying that. Maybe the whole pack didn't get any sleep. The hunter sighed, his eyes brightening a little.
"Do you guys want to hunt with me?" He asked. His nose twitched, waiting from the answer from the two. He lapped his tongue over his pelt, trying to get some of the dust off his pelt. Maybe they weren't in the mood right now. Sorrow, and fury swelled up in Atlas. Dumb wolves! He thought. A growl sputtered out of his mouth. Only if he could get revenge...!

"Cas! Where are you?" Aura barked. She could see the human den. The young loner peered into the den; she could see Casanova. "Oh! There you are." She smiled. Sitting beside her brother, looked out into the territories. "Cas, we should go explore the territories of the wolves, and dogs!" She suggested. Aura pelted out of the den, beckoning Casanova to follow her. Feeling like a pup, Aura trotted towards the forest, the shadows of the trees making her pelt hardly visible. The scent of wolves filled her nose, making her rather scared.
Aura whipped back around, heading towards Cas. "I'm a little scared to explore the territories." She whined.

THALIA

text after the news of lucifer's death, many of the pack members had left in their own misery. little niko hadn't been around when eremos had told everyone. actually, he'd been out chasing squirrels for the past couple of days! a part of me was worried for the little shrimp for a while there, wondering if he had been killed as well. was probably those darned wolves. they're always up to no good! i had not done much differently since lucifer's death, although the nightmares -they had gotten much, much worse. this one i am having now? this is of when i had to kill a little pup, around the age of poor niko. the poor thing had begged, but i had no choice. then came another scene from my first fight. then, of my battle to get out of that darned place. once again, i wake up startled, and hit my head on the ceiling of the den. it's a wonder, how my brain has not yet been permanently damaged. stepping out of the subordinate den, i stand in a daze, my eyes adjusting to the light. eremos is currently talking to lealia. lealia had become beta, and eremos alpha, after lucifer's death. that was fine by me. still didn't change much about my life. walking over to them, i keep my head low, yet my muscles are still tense. "anything 'special' you need done?" i ask, not really caring to change my harsh tone. my eyes flicker between the two, and my ears point toward them, awaiting an answer.

text squirrels. such evil creatures! it's a good thing im here to keep them out of our camp! they want to steal our food! thoughts of these beings flash through my mind as i run, my heart beating out of my chest. this one had been sneaking around eremos's den, chirping away like it was the best day of his life. "im gon' get you!" i scream at it, determined to take it to lucifer as a gift. air leaves my lungs in huffs of exhaustion, but that doesn't matter right now- right now i need to get this darned squirrel! this darned squirrel that just zipped to the right, leaving me to smack into something big and furry. "HEY! why'd ya have to get in my way! i was gon' give that squirrel to lucifer! who are ya anyway! whadda you doin' in our territory?! where am i? who are you? where'd my squirrel go?!" i shout at the creature. it looks awful like a dog -almost like lucifer- but bigger. i take a moment to get a good look at this thing before curling my tail between my legs and cowering. a wolf! stuttering, my hing legs shaking, i say, very quietly, to the wolf, "wh-why are ya i-in our ter-ter-territo-tory? plea-please don't eat m-me! i-i-i don't ta-taste good! i-i taste li-like rott-ten fi-fi-fi-fi-fish! do-don't ea-eat me!" it's gonna eat me! bye cruel world!

Eremos [2] Shorty [1]

Postby MistressAnubis » Mon Nov 21, 2016 10:50 am

→←→←→←→←→←→←→←→←→←→←→←
Eremos, 5 Years, Leader, Tags- Lealia, Thalia
→←→←→←→←→←→←→←→←→←→←

Eremos watched as the camp awoke, the dogs pulling themselves from their various dens to stretch and yawn and mill about. A heavy air of disheartenment had settled about the camp, so thick he could almost taste it. Tails did not wag in jovial greeting, instead most hung limply at hocks while those awake shared a hushed, somber moment.
Eremos's attention was drawn by the chime of a voice, and head turned for copper gaze to fall upon the sleek, silvery form of Lealia. How was he feeling? In truth, Eremos was feeling a wide array of emotions and moods, most of which he couldn't identify. Most prominent was the fatigue that burned at the backs of his eyes. He felt the weight of the previous evening's trasnpirings pulling at his very being, as trying to suck him into the depth of the earth. He could place the confidence that surged through him, encasing his bones in iron so that he might take on the world. He felt the commitments of leadership burning like a fire in his heart, and ambitions long set to simmer that had been suddenly brought to light as he claimed head of the pack. Though shining brighter, perhaps, was a newfound sense of humbleness.
“Restless.” He responded curtly, muzzle tracing the camp before him as he glanced about. He noticed Andraste, the Wolfhound who'd accompanied him on the previous Dusk patrol, looking forlorn as she sat not far from the mouth of the den. He wondered if perhaps it was something more than simply the loss of the leader weighing on her mind, and Eremos decided he'd speak with the Fighter, to ensure she was feeling sound. Beau met his gaze with a quick dip of his head, and Eremos blinked slowly in response, watching as the Beauceron rose to share the company of Andraste, before being joined by the retriever Atlas. Good. He knew the dogs would fair better if they weren't subject to grieving alone.
“And what of yourself?” Eremos returned the question to Lealia, his brief scan of the packmembers lasting only a few moments. She seemed troubled this morning as well, as if she too could feel the heavy cloud that Eremos longed to chase away. A dark shadow stole ever closer in the corner of his eye and he turned as Thalia stepped over. Tapering muzzle was held low, muscles tense and rippling beneath a feathery black coat and Eremos blinked in mild confusion at the tension seeming to seep off of her in waves. Her tone was not gentle, though Eremos hardly noticed, flicking an ear in response to the pestering insect that flitted by.
“Yes, Thalia,” He spoke in his usual low and rasping tone, scanning the treeline for nothing in particular. “Gather the hunters and set off at once. The kill pile is looking scarce.” And, though he would not mention this part, hunting could surely help to take the dog's minds off the death of Lucifer.

Shorty slept like a pup. In fact, it was the best he'd slept in a long time. While the rest of the pack was mourning for the tremendous loss, Shorty couldn't be happier. With all these dogs wallowing in grief, there was no one to wake him up at the wretched hours before dawn with excitable, energetic stomps and thrashes, and instead they rose slowly as if shaking many seasons of dust and dirt from their bones. Now, he was not happy because of Lucifer's passing, no. In fact he felt the faintest tinge of pity for the later leader, though only resulting from the lack of honor in the dog's passing. Rumors spread fast in a tiny pack, and whispers of murder had caught the tiny ears of Shorty as he waddled about the previous evening.
When he awoke it was well after many others, and the mass of dark fur uncurled from his corner of the den to push himself to limbs barely a few inches in height. Only a few forms still lay in the shadows of the den as massive hills and slopes of browns and black around the Tibetan Spaniel. Not watching out for any ears or tails that he might trod beneath his albeit light weighted bulk, he shuffled his way out of the den to feel the warm touches of sunlight already finding his skin. Ah, the joys of sleeping in.
Three massive forms sat nearby, and Shorty steered clear of the dogs with a pointed glare in their direction. He would not get swept up in conversation with a bunch of sad dogs, no sir.

Severo

Every morning, Sev couldn't help but wonder if there was some magical method to just stop the sun from prying it's way through his eyelids every single morning. Every morning, the thought that came right after was a large, dark shadow breaking the light of the morning sun, making the lead hunter jolt right awake out of his dazed stupor. Compared to that, he'd rather be woken by the sun anyday.

Doing his daily routine of stretching and shaking the dust off his pelt, Sev tried to remember what he'd dreamed about, to take his mind off the thought of his past alpha. Indeed, it was a routine he did more often then not, as the throes of his imagination were often less terrifying than his past.

Grasping a lingering trace of the dream, Sev realised he'd dreamed of the time he'd tried to leave, but was too much of a coward. It had taken no less than a sentence from his mother to stop him, and it wasn't a particularly selfless one either. What was it? Ah yes. "I don't want to die!" Well, she had in the end, but out of sickness instead of being killed, which he supposed was some kind of godsend in himself. His grip on reality wasn't all that strong, after all, and sometimes he wondered if seeing his mother ripped open before him would have tipped him over the edge. Probably. It was the case for his brother, seeing their sister killed because the female alpha allowed jealousy to overcome her. Apparently it was the tipping point for his mother as well, as though with pups once more, they all died, a premonition of the pack's future of anything.

Well, not quite. His mother had grasped at him roughly that day and whispered that she'd saved one, that she'd found a pair of wolves that she gave one of the pups. "Severo, you don't understand. She looked just like Angeline." She had whispered madly, and Sev had nodded, trying to reassure her of the fact that she'd allowed her child to live. But reality was cruel, and Sev knew it had probably been his mother's hallucinations. Still, it did make him feel kind of odd whenever he saw a pure white fae, such as Astra, which made him kind of awkward when he entered this new pack. He knew it was just the ramblings of a crazed fae, but still... How he'd hoped that it was true.

Ah, geez. Was he getting so old he could do nothing but reminisce? Surely he wasn't quite that old yet. Shaking his scruff as if he could forcibly evict the memories and thoughts that swarmed In his mind and failing, Sev focused his mind on more current topics.

Now yesterday was a strange day indeed. Ariya had called for everyone to gather and said she was going to meet with the dogs, taking Daithi and Pyro, but a while after Daithi and Pyro returned, ready for normal duties. It was odd, to be sure, but it was a chance to hunt after all, and the deer that lay(now half eaten) On the prey like showed it was a chance not wasted.

Perhaps he should organize another hunt today, however, if Daithi wasn't busy. The meeting with the dogs to come gave him a bad feeling, and everyone could at the least be well fed.

Stepping out the lead den, Sev walked over to said kill pile, taking a few bites to wake himself up a little, before looking around the pack grounds to see if he could spot anyone.

As Daithí padded back towards camp, his mood did not lift. "Dumb deer..." He snarled, pausing to paw at his face once again. Picking up his pace as he began to enter the camp, he made a face, curling his lip and sticking out his tongue at an invisible deer that stood in front of him "If I ever get my paws on that deer, he'd better hope that I'm in a good mood..." He grumbled to himself, ducking his head to avoid a bush as he entered the camp. Still giving out under his breath about what he would do if he ever caught that buck, he glowered as he looked around, dark eyes scanning the camp. Many wolves were milling around, and he paused as he entered, just watching the pack moving for a moment. His gaze fell on Ariya and Astra, and his head raised, ears pricking slightly. His mood quickly forgotten, he offered them both a smile, his tail wagging softly from side to side. Padding over to the prey pile, head high and tail still wagging. He picked up some breakfast, padding to a sheltered area to tuck into the meal. He would occasionally pause, pawing at the wound that was now beginning to itch.

Raising her head as the Beauceron approached, she offered Beau a small, weak smile. "Rather restless, I'm afraid. Unfortunately, Beau, I fear that not a lot of the dogs in this pack managed to get much sleep last night." She said softly with a small sigh. Her head turned once more as Atlas approached, her tail thumping once on the ground in greeting to him. She tilted her head at the hunter's quick questioning, but then pondered his final question, casting a sideways glance to Beau before looking over to Eremos. Looking back to Atlas with a weak smile, she dipped her head. "If Eremos does not need me today for any fighter duties or patrols, I would love to join you, Atlas. It might be good to stretch our legs and have a run." She stood, looking over to Beau then, curious as to what his answer might be.

Clove [1] Storm [1] Shasta [1]

C L O V E - female - forest - tags: nobody - mentions: beau; lucifer (dead)

xxxxxclove looked at the forest around her, her obsidian eyes hungrily leaning towards a squirrel about two yards away. shaking her head, she scolded herself. leave the hunting to the hunters, clove. get back to collecting bedding! she turned, and scraped her claws down a tree trunk across moss that would make perfect bedding. maybe add some fresh leaves, and she could create the perfect nest. she knew she would need to start a small pile in the camp in case she was asked to do the lowly omega job of creating new nests. besides, it had rained recently, probably over night, and all the moss was soaking wet. she gathered the moss and leaves and started back to the camp. she lay it out to dry next to her nest of dry, brittle leaves and noted to make herself a new nest whenever she had time.

xxxxxalmost immediately, she started out again. though, this time, she wasn't going to do her omega duties. this time, she was headed out to think. she came across her hidden clearing, and leaped onto the rock in the center. its moss covered tip provided a nice cushion from the harsh stone underneath. she raised her muzzle, and tear dripped from her eyes and down her cheek. she had known lucifer for such a short time, but she was sad that he was gone. he had saved her from the harsh outside world by taking her in and accepting her into the camp, and therefore she would be forever grateful. she whispered ever so softly to herself, "lucifer, why did you have to go? she had decided just two days ago that she would try and please him in the hopes of repaying him, but now that would never happen.

xxxxxher mind began to wander, and the beauceron brute came to mind. beau, his name was. she had the largest crush on him, and was always pretty jumpy and skittish and embarrassed whenever she was around him. he was an amazing dog, and she was surprised that he wasn't second-in-command. shrugging off her thoughts, she began speaking to herself again. "will beau ever recognize me, or even acknowledge me for anything other than the lowly omega?" she woofed softly, and leaped off the rock. she padded back to camp, and immediately went to her nest that was in cold wind, to check on the drying moss.

xxxxxstorm raised his dark gray muzzle to the sky as he looked around camp. he squared his shoulders as he stood up, his legs hurting from where they had been curled up under him from a long night of rest. he smiled as he thought about his sister, ariya, and looked happily around. he spotted his sister laying next to astra, and decided he wanted to chat. he was pretty bored, as he wanted to go out with the hunters today if his beta duties didn't get in his way. he lay down right beside ariya, his tail thumping the ground ever so slightly, showing some sign of emotion as his face was twisted into an eternal scowl.

xxxxx"what's going on today? is there anything i need to oversee today, alpha?" he asked, showing a little respect to his sister. she was the alpha after all. he knew what he would call her when she replied. he'd call her by the name he'd called her ever since he was a pup. he hadn't been able to pronounce ariya at first, and just started calling her ri or ri-ri. it depended on his mood. he inca stuck with it, and whenever he felt like being playful nowadays he brought the old name out just for old time's sake.

xxxxxhe thumped his tail on the ground, and raised his head higher, trying not to dip his head in respect to astra. she was a delta, and he was a beta. if anything, she should dip her head in respect to him. unable to fight the urge, he let his head fall and let his eyes betray a flicker of playfulness for just a second. he then raised his yea,d and internally scolded himself. he just couldn't help it. he was raised to be polite by his parents, and even sky and koi, the former betas, had taught him that a beta shows respect in the slightest ways, just nothing as big as showing submission or even just the simple head dip. he flicked his ears, and turned to wait for a reply form ariya.

xxxxxshasta leaped out of his nest, and bounded through camp. he spotted beau hanging out with atlas and andraste, and smiled to himself. he padded up just as atlas finished asking if they would like to hunt with him. shasta let his tongue roll out, and he placed his tail against his legs instead of letting it curl over his back as normal as he approached the other dogs. he doesn't know why he did it, they weren't any higher in rank than he was, but it felt right to do it. he nosed his way into the circle, and smiled at the three others.

xxxxx"if i wouldn't be a bother, could i join in too? i need to stretch my legs and i don't think you or chase need me to do something," he asked politely. after everybody noticed he was there, shasta relaxed and let his tail curl into its natural position. he hadn't hunted yesterday, and if he didn't get active soon, his muscles might lock up. he had to constantly exercise otherwise his muscles and tendons locked up because he was always exercising when he was a sled dog.

xxxxxhe smiled ever so slightly and looked around the circle. maybe they'll accept you. just don't let the old nosies frighten you. ever since he escaped he house before it exploded, loud noises frightened shasta. it reminded him of the frantic howls of his sled-mates as the bomb whistled down not them. he'd been tossed into the forest, and pretty quickly happened across the dog pack. he cringed slightly as he remembered dugan. she had been his partner as lead dogs. she'd been so male-like that she had a male name and accepted it happily. he had been her mate, and she was expecting their pups when the explosion happened. now, his heart ever so slightly tugged whenever he saw lealia. it wasn't as strong as the tug for dugan, but it was clearly there.

Astra (Post 2.)

      ( ASTRA ! ) ──────────────────────
age; two and a half yearsxxrank; deltaxxscent; roses, chamomile, lavenderxxcrush; kenaixxtagged; ariya, storm

The lithe she-wolf whipped the tip of her tail softly over Ariya's shoulder. Ariya's pelt of multi colours blended in quite well with the surroundings, but her leaf-green eyes were striking and held her warm brown ones as the pair padded side by side. "I couldn't sleep," Astra responded honestly. "So I decided to go the nearby river for a quick dip before sun high." In her heart, Astra seriously doubted if any wolf or dog could get a good night's of sleep now when the body of the previous Alpha, Lucifer, was found. And with the wolves being prime suspects, her uneasiness only escalated further. What canine could have done such a despicable thing? Shaking those thoughts out of her mind, Astra followed Ariya to the ledge outside her den and settled down comfortably, curling her tail around her flank. When Ariya mentioned that all seemed well now, her expression only darkened. "For now. With tension high between the dogs and wolves prior to Lucifer's death, it will only be a matter of time before a fight breaks out," she pointed out grimly.

Watching as a few wolves began to rouse from their slumber, Astra heaved a barely audible sigh. None of the wolves seemed brutal enough to slaughter a dog no matter how much they hated them. She could not imagine someone like Lotus or Storm or Kenai or Severo committing such an act of murder. Even Ariya. Astra trusted her more than anyone. While awaiting a reply from Ariya, Astra espied another wolf approaching them. Storm. Astra dipped her head slightly in recognition and respect towards him. She grew up with Storm and Ariya, and next to her, he was also her closest friend. The trio did nearly everything together. Noticing the internal struggle in his eyes, Astra fell into a lightly playful mood and nudged him softly.

"Beta Storm, we are all friends here. It's fine to show respect mutually, no matter the rank." Even the Omega, she added silently.

"Morning, Lotus." Ariya woofed politely. She nodded towards Astra. "I completely understand." She smiled and looked up to Storm as he approached, always happy to see her beloved brother. "Oh, please, don't be so formal, Stormie." She teased, using her childhood nickname for him, her playful side being shown with the two other wolves, something that many can not experience. She nuzzled Storm's cheek quickly. "I have a request from the two of you. First, I need one of you to stay at camp and keep things running smoothly and the other to accompany the hunting party." She said and pushed herself into an upright position, her eyes scanning the camp for none other than Daithí. "I will lead a patrol to the edge of our territory and once we come to the border where we meet the dogs Daithí and I will break away. I need to speak with Lucifer about the meeting I wish to have." She said and looked from Astra to Storm, awaiting their responses. "Oh! And, I plan on Pyro accompanying the patrol, he will take over when Daithí and I leave." She finally concluded, falling silent so they could conjure up replies. The multi-colored she wolf once again began her search for her favorite hunter. Finally her eyes fell upon him and her expressions quickly changed from happiness to confusion to worry. Daithí had blood on his face and she wanted to know what happened immediately. "Hey, guys, I'll be ri-" Just as Ariya attempted to excuse herself something small, lightly colored, and furry hit her legs. She was in shock momentarily, what could it have been? That shock may have been what saved Niko's life. She slowly looked down at the…dog pup!? Ariya snarled and raised her tail high, her hackles rising along her back. "Eat a mutt? Please!" She snarled and took a very threatening step towards Niko. It was no secret Ariya didn't like the dogs, that she wasn't sentimental when it came to pups, and that she sure as heck didn't like trespassing. "Give me one good reason I shouldn't rip you to pieces, trespasser." She snapped at the pup, keeping only mere inches away from his nose. Her eyes levelled to stare into his, a wolven act to force him into submission, it never occurred to Ariya that maybe the dogs didn’t teach their pups the way of a pack but it was obvious her 'generosity' was quickly wearing thin as her sharp teeth found themselves closer to the pup every second.

❖ With a soft sigh at the response received from Andraste Beau gave a grave nod. "And how could we? This is insane. How does a dog just end up dead. A bloody scene it was." He growled softly and pinned his ears. "Who would ever do such a thing?" He asked and looked up, offering a kind, forced smile to Atlas. "A hunt would be wonderful to take our minds off of everything. Great head on your shoulders there, Atlas." He praised and pawed gently at the Retriever. "Let us just make sure Eremos and Lealia do not have other plans for any of us first." Beau finished as his eyes swept to the side and down, catching the brunt end of Shorty's glare. He pinned his ears and bared his teeth gently at the smaller dog, the usually very friendly male was unnaturally on edge. There were a lot of conflicting thoughts in his mind right now and he wasn't completely sure what to make of everything. 'Come on Beau. Turning on your own pack is the last thing you need. It's probably what whomever did this wants. To turn you all against one another.' He thought logically and yet a nagging voice in the back of his mind said wolves, while another said it wasn’t them. Beau was pulled from his thoughts as Shasta strode over. He quickly regained his composure, having blanked out for a few seconds, and gave his signature bright, happy smile. He needed to cheer everyone up and if that meant forfeiting his own feelings then so be it. "Wonderful! Seems this is a decent party in itself."

Casanova bolted upright when Aura's voice met his ears. He smiled and jumped up, wagging his tail. "There you are, rascal." He yipped and nuzzled her quickly before she continued to ramble on about exploring the territories. "Oh, yeah, yeah. Let's go!" He said and bounded out into the forest after her. When she paused and turned her pinned his ears, first afraid something was ahead. When she voiced her concerns about exploring the territories he nodded and nosed her head back towards where they were headed. "Afraid, huh? Don't be! We've been here all this time and neither pack knows of us. We know how to get ourselves out of sticky situations." He said reassuringly and wagged his tail, trotting ahead of her towards the wolf territory. "Come, pup. Don't get caught along in the big, bad woods." He teased and laughed, just as playful and puplike as her.
