sleep was something a new mother hardly ever had the pleasure of having, with the two youngsters constantly moving and letting out little whines to make sure she was still there. giving the two little angles a few little licks to calm them down, she nuzzled her nose around them to bring them closer to her in hopes to keep the two a little more relaxed. soon enough they were snoozing away, so with her moment of peace kubu glanced outside, the night sky was just starting to break into day. letting out a little sigh she curled around her to infants trying once more to get some sleep, though that didn't seem to work to much as she was woken up only a short while longer. there was loud barking happening outside of the den, most of it were orders or directions from zilab as he commanded the attention of his pack. he could be truly ruthless at times, but it was all born out of his immense love for his family and the safety of his pack. not hearing anything worth getting up for she nuzzled back to her pups trying once more to get some sleep.

the sun soon passed over the midpoint of the sky by the time kubu crawled out of her den, leaving the two pups asleep. she didn't fear to much as the whole pack was still lounging around, which could only mean a mass amount of death. kubu knew her brother pretty well and despite all the evil she has witnessed in him she was bound to him. she knew that the only reason everyone was here had to be because of hunt, but not a hunt for food but for other packs. trying to not let the image of blood consume her she just quietly padded over to yesterday's kill, pulling off a few chunks savoring it. the pups had been pulling so much energy from her that she was eating for three and with them being so young still they were nursing around the clock and with it they pulled most of her strength. pulling off a larger chunk she carried it back to her den laying it at the entrance, leaving it there to briefly crawl into check on izi and buza. still snoozing away she could only think of how beautiful they were. they were the future of this pack. backing out she laid down at the entrance and chewed on a bone while her eyes watched as they all soon got up and all followed zilab. pausing a moment from her meal she was tempted to run up to her brother wanting to know to whom he intended the raid to be on, but knew better. there was blood in his eyes and he could never be reasoned with once it was there. though of course he didn't leave me to fend for myself he left shep behind with me. kubu of course always preferred to stay out of battle, it was never her strong suit so she didn't mind to much but she almost felt bad for her, really anyone who was left to be my guard. they were always left out of the fun and blood.

walking up to shep i give her a little bark before touching my nose to her shoulder. "hey," she said in a love tone not wanting to startle her as i had a tendency to be to quiet to notice at times.

xxx Abeni didn't like the silence that hung in the air as Zilabamuzale tortured the young Nkechi scout. The only noise was from her. A pathetic, and slightly annoying, whine. It really was pathetic how she whined in pain even though it was her own fault that she was caught. Abeni's paws fidgeted, almost as if she was dancing, and a wide grin graced her maw as Masozi spilled their secrets. How pathetic could this dog be! 'What a traitor' Abeni thought, 'if that were me, I'd rather be dead than share pack secrets.' When Masozi was allowed to go, Abeni watched in confusion with her ears flicked back. Just like that, he was letting her save her hide? Her thoughts stopped when Chinelo yelped and tripped the Nkechi up and as Zilabamuzale tore into her, a wide toothy grin graced Abeni's maw. Masozi's death was inevitable.

xxxAbeni kept this wide smile as Zilabamuzale issued the groups. Her ears perked when he listed Ikenna and she as being in his group. She knew it was only because of Ikenna being his pup but that didn't stop the young dog from being excited. The smile on her face faltered slightly when she caught sight of the warning in his eyes but it returned brighter as she spoke, "Of course." Abeni gave an excited bark after Zilabamuzale went off, this was to be a great day! She ran after her student, easily catching him with her long legs, and spoke to him as they ran, "just remember, Ikenna, don't be too rash. I'll be right beside you in battle, if you're in trouble, you tell me, I'll make sure any brute who's bothering my student will pay!"

xxx As night merged to day, Chausiku gave a tired yawn. As usual he had not slept. It was normal for the dog to be awake early, dreams broke his sleep and he would rather watch over the pack and stare at the stars than be reminded of anything that a dream brought. It was usually memories of his mother and the siblings that she refused to save. Or of the night attack that broke Aluoch in half; an unfortunate event that bore down on his memories. It was when he had finally found a home to be proud of then suddenly ripped apart in front of his eyes. Chausiku was glad that he followed Ekundayo and joined the Ebele Pack away from those brutes. Still, he was always worried yet eager for the future. Trouble with the Asya Pack was a constant threat that concerned Chausiku and so help them if they tried to take over.

xxxA voice pierced Chausiku's thoughts. Ekundayo informed the pack of more Asya Pack trouble. His ears flicked back as she spoke his fears. Nevertheless, he sat up from where he lay and kept a calm demeanor. The news would be worrying to others of the pack, if the Ebele Pack can take over their neighbors it would be one step closer to them. Chausiku met Ekundayo's gaze and, seeing as she probably needed to talk to him, got up and made his way towards her. He bowed his head in respect once he reached her and said, "I would say good morning, but with news like that, it hardly is."

RUNIHURA

Runihura was with Oringo and Pheshaya when they found a traitor amongst camp grounds. Runihura watched as Zilabamuzale interrogated the Nkechi female and then eventually threatening and ripping the girl's ear off. When Zilaba attacked the female, he knew a fight was soon to break out. He wish he could have done it himself, but he wasnt ordered to kill the femalw so he he kept quiet. Runi took note of the lesson his leader stated to the pack. This made him wonder about who else could be a spy. It could possibly even be someone in the pack. You could never know for sure. When Zilaba grouped Runihura with Sanaa, he nodded his head and trotted along as he followed Sanaa. Runihura's fur began to warm up as they started running in the early morning sunlight. He started boosting his confidence mentally in his head getting ready for the battle.

Hatshepsut

A ray of sunlight made its easy into Hatshepsut's den, waking her up from her sleep. She stretched her hind legs and other body parts before walking outside to the slightly chilled air. It was pretty quiet out as she walked around. Zilaba had came to her and told her to stay put while he and a few others went to go see what Oringo, Runihura, and Chinelo had caught. She was pretty much left behind at camp grounds to keep Kubuhlungu and her pups company while the others were gone. She didnt know what was going on but she kept her nose out of it. Shep didn't mind being around Kubu and her pups. She's glad to help around and keep some stress of the new mother. The morning sun felt pretty warm on her fur as she went to look for food. She found a young fox aimlessly walking around without any other fox friends. Skillfully Hatshepsut plotted an attack and killed the fox planning to share it with Kubu and her pups. It wasn't the usual pretty of AWDs, but it was the first thing she saw. Shep walked back to the camp and made her way to Kubuhlunga's den. When she arrived, She placed the fox down and licked the blood off her lips. "Goodmorning Kubu, darling. How are you and your lovely pups?" She greeted with a nose touch returned to Kubu's shoulder. Shep's tail swished gracefully side to side. A smile formed upon her face. She sat down on a small, nearby rock.

Akilah ─ 1 ── Chikondi ─ 1

Postby purpleglitter » Fri Sep 23, 2016 9:25 am

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Akilah

[ female ] [ six yrs ] [ lead hunter ] [ location; border, campsite] [ tags; chikondi, rest of the pack ]

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Deep amber eyes could only watch the carnage and needless violence that the Abele pack brought down onto the Nkechi. Though a traitor was as good as dead in her eyes as well, there was no need for the torture and sick pleasure it must have given them to see the young female to be free to leave, only to be killed instead. That was cruelty far to low of any AWD, no, that was a lion's game. What of their kind would stood so low to use the trickery of another animal? A cat no less? There was just no seeing any rational logic in those actions.

Akilah shook her head, letting the brutality of Zilab go from her mind and instead turned to Chikondi. She had asked the younger male to come out and help her scout out some prey for a possible hunting party later, but instead had come across this. "Go now Chikondi, be on your guard as well" she spoke softly, sending him off to report the happenings here back to Ekundayo and the rest of the Ebele. Anything of importance needed to be reported, and this definitely fell into that category. She watched the male leave and turned back to see what was now happening with the raid of the Nketchi.

You fools. What kind of battle would give you such pleasure? You are fighting elderly rulers, you absolute disgraces she thought with a look of utter disgust on her face. She watched only until the pack began to move out in their formations before turning back to the Ebele. Her mind was full of jumbled thoughts, each that could not possibly see the benefits of such a move. She looked over head head back towards the direction of the battle, as the thoughts abruptly cleared from her mind and left but a one. Your cruelty will be your downfall Zilabamuzale, and with that thought she turned and headed back to the Ebele campsite.

No doubt Ekundayo would opt to give aid to the Nkechi dogs who escaped the battle and came here. A potential alliance would benefit both packs in this face off against Aysa. So soon a hunting party would need to go out and take down a decent amount of prey to carry back to the camp, but that would have to wait for the moment. Akilah closed her eyes and cleared her mind of the troubling scene she had witnessed before stepping foot back into camp, it wouldn't do for her to dwell on the endless headache of the Aysa. She lifted her head and listened as Ekun adressed the Ebele, agreeing with her completely. Something had to be done.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Chikondi

[ male ] [ four yrs ] [ scout ] [ location; border, campsite ] [ tags; akilah, ekundayo ]

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Having watched the needless torture of the young Nkechi scout, Chiko could only shake his head in shame and pity. Being a fellow scout, he knew the pressures and the importance of not getting caught, but he knew full well that his loyalty to his pack would always come first. There would be no forcing secrets out of him no, he would face death head on in that case. Though he wondered just what was going on in Zilab's head. There had to be something now right going on in there, for him to somehow find logic in the torture of this scout and to see right in taking over the Nkechi. But then again, were any of the Aysa mentally well? He remembered Adebowale had been sent in as a spy, and could only hope his fellow packmate would make it out relatively unharmed from the experience.

He was torn away from his musings by Akilah, sending him off to report what was happening here back to the Ebele. He nodded his assent, touching his nose to the older female's shoulder, " Stay on yours as well Akilah" he said before turning and running back towards the Ebele camp. Such was the life of a scout, always running to and from and the intense pressures of importance. It was really no wonder that when he didn't have duties to attend to, he was lazing about or causing mischief. It was a way to unwind and relax from the stress and right now, Chiko could see a good while of being lazy in his future after this.

Of course it didn't take long for him to return to the camp, and immediately made a beeline for Ekundayo who looked to have just recently emerged from her den. He hated to be the barer of news like this first thing in the morning, but such a thing was too important to not be addressed now. He spoke to her softly but urgently, recalling the events of what he had just witnessed, " Ekundayo, the Aysa have brutally tortured and killed a young Nkechi scout and now plan to take over and kill the rest of the Nkechi. Survivors of the battle may already be heading this way.". He watched her take in the information, no doubt disgusted as well by the cruelty of their rivals. He listened as she told him to relay a message to the Aysa, and he only hoped that this message would stop the needless violence their rivals were so happy to inflict. He bowed his head in respect, "I'll be going as soon as the fight draws to an end." he said, turning and padding back towards the front of the camp.

For now, it was a waiting game. He'd wait until some of the survivors came in before going out again. He needed to let the adrenaline of fighting die down on the side of the Aysa, otherwise he'd more than likely be attacked right off without relaying the message. He lay down under the shade of a tree, keeping alert and waiting for the battle to die down.

phesheya & mthunzi - p.1

Postby tytrack » Fri Sep 23, 2016 12:34 pm

[♛] Phesheya [♛]
[ female - asya pack - tags; zilab, rest of the pack - a regular member ]
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Phesheya watched the commotion with a solemn heave of her sides. Though she didn't approve of this 'lesson' Zilab had to give, she argued not and kept her head low as she stood beside Runihura and Oringo. The traitor had decieved the rest of the Asya pack, a cowardice act to the rest of the AWDs. As she watched Zilab, she finally turned her dismal gaze to Runihura and watched him. She lifted her head, remembering the scents she had picked up on the opposite side of the border. She hadn't recognized the scent, but it had made her uneasy. It was Mthunzi's, but she had no idea that he was the Corrupter of the other pack and was working to help them. Still, she had an uneasy feeling in her stomach and she was reluctant to tell what she had discovered.

Finally, mustering up the guts she had left in her, she lifted her head and ears with a bark. As she paced after Zilab. "Wait! Zilab? Must we result to such cruelty?" She boldly approached him, her head lifted up without a sense of fear lingering in her body. Anticipation prickled at her paws and her heart thudded inside her chest, wondering if she would be the next one to be mauled. She blinked, her golden-brown eyes narrowing with thought. "I understand you are our leader, and that you want the best for us. But is bloodshed really the only way? Killing our enemies before they kill us? How are we to assume that they will even try to kill such a strong group like ourselves? Any of us could die if we go into this battle!" She hid a sly grin. She knew how to convince others, but she'd never once tried it on Zilab.

She suddenly came to the realization that Zilab probably wouldn't be happy with her confrontation, so she bowed her head respectfully and paced backwards for a moment. She glanced at Zilab and then blinked her apology. Perhaps she would talk to him about her opinion later, but now was not the time. She winced and she turned after her group, her anticipation growing. She coughed as dust splayed in her face as she raced after her own group. She hated this needless bloodshed, but she loved the asya AWDs and would support them through it all. So she put on a brave mask of hope and trudged after them.

[♛] Mthunzi [♛]
[ male - ebele pack - tags; rest of the pack. - corrupter ]
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Mthunzi sat in a corner of the camp, resting underneath the shade of heather and the grass beside him. He clamped his jaws reluctantly together, his eyes narrowed as frothy saliva built up in the back of his throat, making his throat feel bitter and wasted down. He felt at home here, in the ebele pack; but his loyalties lay with Zilab and the Asya pack. He loved this pack with all his heart, too. He had come here to escape Zilab and the Asya AWDs, and had finally found a resting place for all of the rumors going around about him. His heart ached at the thought that he was betraying these AWDs, and he knew he couldn't let his own personal feelings for the pack get in the way of his duty. But he couldn't help but wonder what it would be like to have a mate and pups in the ebele pack.

As his father had said, "put your pack above all else. other things are not worth it". He had grown to believe that statement, even though he did have feelings for the ebele AWDs. He hid it well, though, and did not often speak. He simply observed, other than when he had to teach his student. He imagined a life beyond this one; one where he was a father, where he didn't have to hide his loyalties. Where he didn't have to dream, and instead where his dreams would be reality. But would he ever find a place that he would truly call home, without the burden of being a spy for something he loved but could just not reach, even though it was right before his nose? Was he destined for sadness and burden?

He lifted his head at the sound of Ekundayo's voice. His eyes narrowed and he lifted to his paws, reluctantly nodding in agreement. "Their acts of cruelty have gone too far," he adressed, turning to the others. Perhaps if he said some meaningful words now, others would start talking to him. "The Asya have malevolent intentions and evil, ambitious souls. They have disrupted harmony amongst the AWDs and we must not stand for it! We here, the Ebele, must stay strong," He barked, chiding in as he glanced at Ekundayo for approval. He knew he wasn't the beta, or the alpha male, for that matter; but he was more than willing to support her.

name meaning. strength, stamina gender. female
age. three and a half years nickname. mara (only
zilab) pack. asya rank. zilab's mate mate. zilab

Imara was standing a few tail-lengths behind Zilab, and just so happened to hear Pheshya's little comment on the leader's method of disposing the Nkechi female. What a fool! Imara would teach her a lesson. She silently padded to the female's right flank, eyes narrowed, and nipped her right ear, enough to inflict a good amount of pain, but not to tear it or anything of that nature.
"Insolent!" Imara said, words like knives. "Words like that will put you in the same situation as Masozi, but in your own pack! If you're afraid of bloodshed and cruelty, you might as well go off and join Ekundayo and her band of weaklings. Power and territory are not given, you idiot, they are earned through the art of war." Imara thought about giving her a good shove to assert her dominance over the lowly member, but she figured that could take it too far.

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Phesheya stopped in her tracks, blood trickling from the tip of her ear and trailing down the side of her multicolored ear. Her gaze lit up with annoyance and she turned to glare at Imara, a look of despise on her now dismal face. She wrenched her jaw open to bark a few words of annoyance at her, and started; "Excuse -," but clenched her jaw. Now wasn't the time to argue with the female who seemed to know all there was to know. One day, Phesheya told herself. She simply lifted her lips to reveal her teeth to the alpha female and turned her head away, grumbling under her breath in a growl.

She tried her best to ignore the leader's insults, but they dug deep into her skin and clung to her like a burden. They reminded her of the times her mother had insulted her father, or her brothers had insulted eachother. Was Phesheya truly a weakling, and did she honestly belong with the Ebele pack? She padded solemnly after her assigned group and dragged her paws, her flanks heaving. She held back a whine of anger as she remembered Imara's tone, and she felt her ears burn with anger. "How dare she say those things? I should be ashamed to have her as one of our high ranks! Disgusting!" She barked to herself out loud, once she was out of ear-shot of the other group with Zilab and Imara.

Before Ekundayo went off to find her adviser, her ears perked when another member spoke up. Her eyes drifted over to one of Ebele pack's members, Mthunzi. Once he finished speaking, she gave a small smile. She was pleased that her members were so adamant about Asya pack being evil; it was true, after all. "You're right, Mthunzi. Thank you for your wise words. Ebele pack will stay strong and defeat our enemy." She spoke, nodding her head toward the male. Her gaze drifted toward her adviser, Chausiku, as he approached her. She gave a sad smile at his words and nodded her head in agreement. Having woken up to a war brewing outside her pack grounds was not a good morning at all. "A simple 'morning' will have to suffice for now. One day, we will greet each other with 'good morning's." She spoke, sitting down on her haunches. For a brief moment, her gaze drifted away from her adviser to see Nkechi pack members running toward her territory. Her pack would intercept them and help them with their wounds.

"I was going to seek you out after this battle - excuse me - slaughter was over, but I change my mind. Since you're here, I'll speak with you now." She spoke, her sad smile being replaced with a small frown. "The Monifa pack (meaning "I am lucky"), as you may be quite aware, is becoming more of a threat to us. While I can ignore their harsh words aimed toward our pack, I have noticed them coming closer to our land. Before things can escalate, I would like one of us to approach and speak to them. I would like for the packs to become allies in this soon-to-be war. The Asya pack is a much larger threat, and we must come together to defeat them. If not, they will kill both of the packs." She explained, taking a brief pause to let the words sink in before she continued.

"We need to discuss some terms with them to get them to agree with this alliance. If the Asya pack attacks Ebele pack or Monifa pack, the other must come to aid. Also perhaps sharing our land so the prey is more plentiful. What else would you suggest?" She questioned her adviser, her head tilting to the side.

Hearing Abeni speak, Ikenna lifted his gaze and listened. He gave a nod in response to show that he understood. He was playful and mischievous, but he would not be reckless in this battle. "I'll remember! With your teachings, I'm positive that I won't be overwhelmed." He barked, a wide grin appearing on his maw. When he found out Abeni would be his teacher, he was filled with excitement. Their personalities were similar, so he had an enjoyable time learning from her. Hopefully, her teachings would pay off in this battle. He had only been training for a month, but he knew the basics. She taught him how to fight and defend himself, and he was not going to let her nor his father down. He was quite the lanky pup right now, but he would soon gain some muscle to fill out his lanky frame. If he could surpass his father in height, he would be pleased.

His ear swiveled as one of the females, Phesheye, started to question his father. However, before his father could respond, Imara stepped in to snap the female and put her in her place. Her tactics seemed to be similar to that of his mother's ways. He did not understand why she was in Asya pack if she supported Ekundayo's ways. It did not make sense to him, but he was not going to butt into the conversation. He had better things to worry about, like this battle they were facing.

RUNIHURA

Runihura heard Phesheya's complaints about how Imara was insulting her. Runihura rolled his eyes as his tail was held in the hair as his body move left and right everytime he trotted each foot. The sudden annoyance of complaining and whining urked his nerves. He wonders what made Phesheya join a ruthless, blood thirsty pack, if she didnt want to battle in the bloodshed as of now."If you'd stop complaining all the time, you wouldn't have to be insulted." He said with his deep, bold voice. He was now right next to Sanaa as they continued their way towards th Nkechi territory. "You cant expect her to 'not' insult you if youre giving her reasons to. Now if you dont want to be in this battle, I advise you to go back to the camp with Shep and Kubu or hang back with Bo and Chinelo." Runihura suggested

Phesheya glanced at Runihura, a scowl on her face. "And if Zilab and Imara weren't pointlessly murdering lives we wouldn't have had an argument in the first place!" She stubbornly barked at the larger male, her tail set behind her. Her paws ached, but she ignored the feeling as she padded on, eventually catching up to Runihura's side. Anger pulsed in her, which would probably be the source for her malicious actions when she joined the battle. Her eyes darkened and she sighed, taking in all of her emotions at once.

Thinking of battles always seemed to make her think about the death of her whole family. She remembered it as if it had only happened yesterday. She remembered every single detail, and she had not once forgotten it. She tensed and lifted her head, glancing at Runihura. "I will serve my pack for as long as I can. I didn't choose this pack for no reason. I don't want to kill and slaughter AWDs for no reason at all, but if that is what you all want, I will do it for my pack. I am not an unloyal canine. I just can't help feeling that what I am doing is what my family had done to them," She spoke, her raspy voice showing a tad of annoyance, just as her posture showed her anger, the muscles on her shoulders shifting with every step her lithe form took. She padded on beside him, her haunches aching as she trampled forward, leaning her head to the side to glance around. She had to keep an eye open all of the time. She didn't know the other AWD packs very well, and she had little trust.
