WHY FIT IN WHEN YOU
╔══════════════════════╗
Fenneltail. Thirty six moons of age. Senior warrior of BreezeClan.
This pale ginger female was born three years ago to Stoatfoot (a bright ginger she-cat) and Ashpelt (a blue tabby tom) along with her two siblings: Petalstream and Ravenheart, a dilute tortoiseshell and a black tom, respectively. They grew quickly and at six moons of age they became 'paws. Young Fennelpaw proved to be an agile, with skills at jumping, climbing difficult terrain and a notable sense of balance: she rarely fell from trees or anything of height. This also meant she is very good at judging distance, and as such is a good hunter, often being very precise in her movements and not overestimating her abilities. As such, she was named for this and given the suffix -tail. She's also full of energy, and very fond of kits and younger cats of the Clan: when she has nothing to do, she can be found at the nursery or the apprentices' den, playing with the kits or giving the apprentices extra tips on their own skills. Over the moons she's also been seen to help the deputy with the patrols, her copper eyes full of warmth as she speaks to her clanmates, passing on the orders and helping to point out mistakes, if any are made.
Fenneltail was given her prefix as a kit for her fur: the shade is similar to the flowers of the herb, fennel, and doesn't seem to be marked apart from the fact it is darker along the line of her spine: she is, in fact, a red ticked tabby. She is slim and lithe, but muscular due to her training. Her fur is long and therefore quite thick, meaning she prefers the shade even moreso than some of her clanmates during the warmer months, and has also been known to take a dip in rivers when it is honestly too warm for her.

Sandstrike & Tawnypaw

┏━━━━━━━━━━━━┓
Name ;; Sandstrike
Former Names;; Sandpaw, Sandkit
Gender ;; Tom-cat
Age ;; 37 moons
Rank ;; Warrior (wants to be deputy)

Mother ;;Feathertail
Father ;; Yarrowfang
Brothers ;; Foxpaw, Thornpelt & Yarrowleap
Sisters ;; Blossompond & Lilypond
Trainee ;; Tba?
Crush ;; Open
Mate ;; None

┗━━━━━━━━━━━━┛

Sandstrike, previously known as Sandpaw, is the eldest son of Feathertail & Yarrowfang. While he grew up with five other siblings only three of them are still alive. He's been a warrior for many moons now and he's hoping to be appointed deputy in his near future.

His pelt, much like that of his other siblings, is a sandy golden color. Along the flanks he has stripes which are only the slightest bit darker than the rest of the fur. His paws as well as the tip of his tail are the same color as his stripes. He has light green eyes and a spot of a dark brown color between his ears, extending down to just above his eyes.

Many have found Sandstrike to be rather distant, cold & sometimes a bit bossy. While all of those things might be true of him he's still incredibly cunning, agile and probably one of the fastest cats in the clan, scoring them jack rabbits fairly often(only about once or twice every moon).

Family has always been important to him and each loss has taken a stab at his heart. He lost one of his brothers as well as his mother to a sickness when he was only a trainee and soon enough a fatal run in with a monster took the life of his brother Yarrowleap. While one brother and both of his sisters remain, he still can't help but feel guilty. His father's still alive as well, being one of the meanest and grouchiest of the elders.

His personality could often be described as cold and blunt. It's entirely true as he feels no cat should be lied to. Though he has a soft side and he tries his hardest to keep to himself merely so he doesn't hurt or upset any other cat. For this reason he's practically petrified at the thought of getting a trainee to teach, knowing he'd be more than likely to scare the poor kit or scar them forever. While he does appear this way on the outside he's genuinely a nice cat and wants to provide for his clan, even if it means providing his own life for them.

As far as love goes, he's not really had much luck. Due to his cold natured personality and his problems with commitment. He really does wish that he could start a small family of his own one day, even having high hopes to name a kit or two after his lost family members, in hopes of them living on.

┗━━━━━━━━━━━━┛

Tawnypaw, sometimes teasingly called Tinypaw for her size, is the youngest kit of Duskpelt and Hollyfeather (also the runt). She's merely six moons old and was more recently given her 'trainee' status -- though she's unsure as to who her mentor is (she might not have been paying very much attention at her ceremony).

Her pelt is longer than her littermates, being mostly a dark charcoal color with spots of fiery orange as well as little flecks of white over her front paws. She inherited her bright amber eyes from her father who unfortunately passed on, joining the ranks of Starclan before he could witness her become a trainee.

Unlike her many other littermates, she's quite loud, anxious and bubbly. All of which probably aren't the best for such a young cat. Though despite her flaws she remains to be a brave, loyal and obedient spirit.

She doesn't really like to talk about her father, or her deceased brother for that matter. It happened only more recently, all four of the kits being five moons old and ever as adventurous. They managed to sneak out and unknowingly wandered too close to a badgers den. While three of the kits escaped unharmed, the fourth wasn't quite as lucky. Duskpelt had managed to catch on to the fact that his kits were missing and he chased after them, arriving in time to witness the loss of his eldest kit. He ordered the other kits to return back to camp, though he never managed to return himself. Ever since then Hawkpaw and Cloudpaw have made a plan to try and keep Tawnypaw from getting into trouble-- after all, she is just a kit to them.

Personality wise Tawnypaw is fairly kind, though entirely too loud and hyper over pretty much any and everything. She's very headstrong and persistent and in some cases a bit stubborn. She doesn't like to start fights though she certainly likes being included in them -- even though most of the time things said hurt her. Perhaps subconsciously it's to punish herself for letting Juniperkit get that close to the badger. She tends to be a bit too much for most cats, often annoying them or causing them to become grouchy (most often elders). She doesn't ever mean to be loud and excited but she's a fairly happy kit and wants more than anything to spread happiness around.

Love is nearly a foreign concept to the kit, only dreaming of adventure and action as opposed to falling in love and having kits of her own. She'd probably fake gag at the thought of such a situation and would more than likely seek to avoid any mention of it.

Spiderkit was born to Nighthawk and Beetlewatcher following a harsh leaf-bare and many of the Clan members did not believe he would survive. His small size was blamed on Nighthawk's lack of nutrition during the cold moons. Much to the medicine cats surprise, Spiderkit managed to make an amazing comeback, fattening up within the first two months of his life and, by the time he became an apprentice at six moons he was already showing muscle growth, a result of his favourite kit game - clawing at the camp walls as if they were an intruder. As an apprentice, Spiderpaw retained this energy he had had as a kit and his fascination with predators and fighting them off. The small kit who was expected to die turned out to be strong and energetic, excelling in fighting, climbing - whenever there were trees around, that is - and swimming - if there was water nearby. Hunting was somewhat of a sore spot for him, as his flightiness and short attention span made stalking hard for Spiderpaw. Upon receiving his warrior name, he was surprised to learn that he was not being named for his long legs and tail, but for his ability to fight. Spiderstorm was his given warrior name and the dark tom carried it with pride. He became deputy at the age of 28 moons and was given his leader name, Spiderstar, at the age of 37. A young leader, Spiderstar is now faced with the challenge of moving his Clan from their traditional territory to escape the Twolegs that are invading it.

It is a wonder how Runningheart did not burst with pride when his only kit was born, but somehow he managed to hold in his competitiveness and pride upon seeing her little ginger form. The spitting image of her father, besides the amber eyes she gets from her mother, Lionkit was pampered by her father to no end as a kit. He made sure to bring her and her mother, Frostwish, the choicest pieces from the freshkill pile every morning and even stuck around to play whenever he had the time. Lionkit grew up in a loving little family of three, which contributed to her bright and adventurous personality. At her apprentice ceremony, her father cheered the loudest of all and, if he had been allowed to, would have sat warrior vigil with her all night. Two moons into her apprenticeship, however, her mother disappeared. Torn between the decision to find his mate or stay with his daughter, Runningheart was taken by Twolegs while he attempted to reach this decision, subsequently failing to go through with either plan. Lionpaw turned her hurt and anger at the shattering of her perfect little world to her training, quickly learning to lie whenever the question, "Are you alright?" was uttered. Though she remains bright and bubbly, it is evident in the sharp blows she gives in battle training that the hurt is still there, four moons later. The ginger she-cat hides it as best as she can and tries to be a contributing member to the Clan nonetheless. The idea of leaving the traditional grounds is both saddening, scary and exciting for her. Maybe one day, when she is old enough to go off on her own, she will come back to find her father and learn of his fate.

Eaglewing twitched in his sleep, tail lashing in circles and long legs jutting out. He wasn't having a bad dream or anything, in fact he wasn't dreaming at all. Long ago he formed a habit of moving in his sleep, finding it helped him relax easily and surprisingly improved his joint pain. His light blue eyes opened suddenly and he gasped for air desperately. Another habit of his was forgetting where he was. When he looked around, the tall dead grass settling in his vision, he let out a content sigh and relaxed again. Eaglewing opened his mouth wide in a yawn and stood up to stretch his limbs. The sky was still dark but a few pale rays of sun lit the clouds up in an array of pink and orange. He couldn't help but smile at the sight, remembering where and who he was. I am the healer of Breezeclan. His spirits lifted a little at the thought. There was nowhere he'd rather be than here with his clanmates and those he called family.

While he sat down to groom his long silky fur, the tom gazed around. Littered among the grass and brush were his clanmates. They all looked so peaceful and happy in their sleep but that would quickly change when they awoke. After all, they were facing a truly troubling time. Once again Eaglewing glanced up at the sky as it slowly grew lighter. It looked completely normal, but something was wrong up there. Their ancestors had grown silent after the death of their previous healer, and Eaglewing couldn't help but feel paranoid that he would suffer the same agonizing death if this wasn't resolved. But I can't worry about it all the time. This clan needs me and I wont let them down! With a bit of effort he pushed himself onto all four paws and searched around for his apprentice. When he found her sleeping form he gently hobbled over and extended a long leg to prod her. "Hey! Astralpaw!" he whispered. "Lazy cats don't save lives! It's time to get to work."

Two yellow eyes slid open slowly, first one then the other. Ivyclaw fixed her gaze on a strand of grass further away and stretched her front legs out to grab it. She flexed her claws repeatedly, tearing the tendril to shreds while admiring her work. The extra toes on each of her paws was a bit strange at times, but she couldn't help but love her abnormalities. They made her who she is, after all, giving her the suffix claw wasn't just a joke. With one last rip she smiled and rolled onto her stomach. The patch of grass where she had been sleeping was now smooth and flattened. Ivyclaw maneuvered her head skillfully to groom the side she'd been laying on and spent a healthy amount of time fixing her appearance. Normally she wouldn't care what she looked like after waking up, but today felt special. Spiderstar would have to pick a deputy eventually and there was still a chance she would be picked. Though she doubted it, after all she wasn't the friendliest cat of the bunch.

She gave her fur one last swipe with her tongue and stood up to observe her surroundings. Not many where awake yet, which slightly disappointed her. Mornings were always Ivyclaw's worst part of the day. She hated walking around in the dew covered grass for her pelt had a hard time drying and the prey was surrounded by mud. The only downfall of this territory was that it only strengthened her want to go home. She'd spent most of her life by the shore and often missed the feel of sand between her toes. But sulking never helped anyone, so she shook the thoughts from her head and padded off in search of an early morning meal. If she was lucky she could bring back something to share and maybe increase her reputation amongst her clanmates.

The sky above was turning lighter with the rise of the sun, its rays streaking the blue with tendrils of yellow and orange. The robin's egg colour of the sky meant the day ahead would be fair, likely without a single cloud in the sky. Spiderstar was not sure whether he liked the weather - while it spared his Clan the prospect of wet pelts and nests, it also meant the dry grass of the plains would be even drier in the days to come without a proper storm.

He lifted himself from his crouched position by the gorge's edge, a sudden splash distracting him from his musings. The tom was easily distracted and many of his Clanmates found him to have a short attention span. His fur on end, he scanned the waters below only to find a duck swimming about, having been the source of the splashing. Flicking his tail, Spiderstar turned back in the direction of the camp. It wasn't much of a shelter, as the tall grasses of the plains offered little protection from the elements, but there were some burrows and grassy tunnels that the Clan could hide in should they need to. The leader himself preferred to sleep in the open, enjoying the feel of the night breeze in his fur as he fell into darkness.

Some cats were beginning to stir as Spiderstar approached the makeshift camp and the dark tom breathed out a sigh of relief. He had been away all night at the gorge, not having been able to sleep, and had been worried someone might notice his absence. His thoughts had been running rampant all night, mirroring his distractedness. The problem was that he needed to choose a new deputy - but who? There were many in his Clan who were qualified, but his flighty nature and indecisiveness made it difficult for him to choose. The announcement would have to come soon, but for now he would continue to deliberate. Settling down at the edge of the camp, Spiderstar turned his pale eyes to his waking Clanmates, observing and contemplating.

The yawn that stretched Lionpaw's maw could be described as nothing less than humongous. The white of her large canines glinted in the morning sun and it seemed as if she were keeping them on display with the length of time she was yawning for. Eventually, her jaw closed with a snap and the she-cat's pink tongue could be seen travelling over her lips. This was followed by a nice, long stretch, her ginger fur rippling over her muscled body as she arched her back, tail slightly curved over her back. Lionpaw purred as she felt the first warm rays of the sun run over her pelt, raising her head to the light.

Finished with her morning routine, Lionpaw padded over to the freshkill pile. There was not much left over from the previous day, but she figured her mentor might want a bite to eat before her trainee insisted on going out for the day - just as she did everyday. Sitting in camp was not an option for the adventurous trainee. The thought of sitting around without anything to do made Lionpaw quite sick. She needed to be moving, whether that be hunting, fighting, climbing or even, StarClan forbid, swimming. Most of all, though, she loved running and feeling the wind in her fur as her legs carried her through the tall grasses of BreezeClan's territory.

Grabbing a rather large mouse, the trainee padded over to where the pale ginger pelt of her mentor, Fenneltail, was just visible through the plain grass. The she-cat dropped the prey before her mentor, wondering how long it would take her to wake up. The smell should have been enough to wake her, but Lionpaw decided to prod at the she-cat's body gently, her paw hitting her shoulder numerous times as she whispered, "Fenneltail. Fenneltail, wake up! You promised we'd go hunting early today."

    FENNELTAIL.
    ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
      [ female ] [ warrior ] [ tagged: lionpaw]

It was the warm smell of fresh-kill (mouse? Or vole?) combined with the paw tapping her shoulder and the hushed voice in her ear that woke her up. The she-cat didn't wake quickly, though; rather, her mind slowly rose from the shroud of sleep, her body shifting and twitching as the prodding continued. Who would poke a warrior until they woke up? Tucking her head closer to her chest and bringing her forepaws over her muzzle, Fenneltail weakly attempted to hide herself away from the disturber, wishing for more sleep. Well, she was a cat, after all.

But when Fenneltail did eventually wake up, the first thing her teal eyes found was her dear apprentice standing above her. Of course, she mused silently, stretching her jaws in a wide yawn and pushing her frame into a sitting position, Lionpaw is the only one who would wake a warrior by poking them. "You should know better than waking up an old cat. Respect your elders, Lionpaw." She teased, fluffy tail flicking back and forth and her eyes glimmering with mirth. Their Clan might be leaving their territory, the place where she had grown up, but they were strong and they would not only survive, but they would thrive. She would make sure her apprentice remained positive too.

"Although, well done for remembering that we're going hunting. However, I don't know if we'll have time." If there was one thing this she-cat hated, it was breaking her promises. But Spiderstar was sat not far away, watching his Clan, and it wouldn't be long before they left this makeshift camp and travelled onwards. "I'm sorry; but we can hunt while we travel, just as long as you don't take too long."

[tom-cat] [thirty-seven moons] [trainee: none] [tagged: Ivyclaw]

Sandstrike's tail twitched almost continuously as he slept, ears only rarely making any movements. He was being chased, though by what he couldn't remember. There were dark shadows cast along the ground by whatever it was that was chasing him though soon enough he was cornered, having no choice but to face whatever it was. A small amount of rustling from nearby caused him to alert from his state of dreaming and the picture faded away almost instantly. His eyes creaked open, looking around blearily, stretching his paws out on either side of him, fur bristling softly both from the rush the dream left him with as well as the temperature change that suddenly seemed to occur. He pushed himself up off the ground, shaking himself off a moment before he sat and began grooming his fur slowly, making sure he didn't have any hidden wounds or worse, ticks.

Soon enough he was finished cleaning the bits of grass from his fur, his green eyes scanning the camp for signs of activity and his gaze landed on the black and white warrior otherwise known as Ivyclaw. Upon noticing the cat was approaching the outskirts of the camp Sandstrike silently pad through camp and followed behind the cat, waiting until he was far enough away that he wouldn't disturb any of the sleeping cats. "Ivyclaw!" he called, sprinting to catch up with her. "Would you mind if I hunted with you?" he asked, tail giving a few small flicks as he kept pace with the she-cat. Hunting was probably his favorite activity, finding that he was rather good at it. While he didn't mind hunting alone he usually preferred hunting with at least another cat, partially because it meant more prey and partially for the fear that gripped him when he was alone.

[she-cat] [six moons] [mentor: Raventalon ] [tagged: none]

Tawnypaw had surprisingly been awake for a while, the small kit playing off by herself in a taller section of grass, staying fairly close to camp but far enough so she wouldn't disturb any of the other clan cats. She caught scent of a field mouse and she lowered into a crouch, the same crouch she'd seen others do. While warriors trained and had perfect form, Tawnypaw unfortunately was making rookie mistakes left and right. She pounced a little too soon and instead of capturing the rodent between her paws as she hoped, she only caught grass. She let out a small huff and continued stalking quietly through the grass, following the scent of the small creature. She was soon caught up to the creature, trying again though she still missed the small creature.

After her tenth attempt at catching a mouse she pad back to camp slowly, ears and tail dropping down sadly. She had really hoped she could show off her mouse to her brothers as well as her mentor, maybe even giving it to one of the elders but she had failed. She made her way into camp, being cautious not to wake the cats, looking up and making a mental note of who was awake and who was still sleeping. She looked over to her mentor Raventalon, idly wondering if he was planning on training her at some point that day or if it would have to wait. She looked to Spiderstar, noticing the cat as he pad into the camp. She wondered where he had been though she didn't want to ask. She pad off towards her mentor, hoping maybe he'd have something for them to do.

    | Olive <male, dark-brown tabby> |
    | Loner <outskirts of camp> |

Olive felt immensely calm this morning, he was in the verge of utter comfort but he knew he couldn't simply slump down and have a nap. He grunted, annoyed that he could never rest in the right time. Perhaps because he only slept in afternoons and his sleeping routines were unhealthily brief. The tom has resided in these grasslands for many moons, constantly waiting for something life-changing to happen. Every moment of his life consisted of him feeling as if he missed out. Though he's not satisfied with this peaceful life, he wouldn't complain about it's security.
A strangely panicked mouse swerved just in time to avoid Olive's paws as it disappeared into the next batch of long grass. The carefree tom- of course, did nothing about it. His muscles didn't even twitch from the sudden movement. But no doubt the squeaking and scuttle of feet agitated him. "I wasn't going to catch you anyway!" He hissed but then realized, the mouse had been running towards him. A faint bit of excitement grew in him, something else scared the mouse away. Perhaps it was a snake, he definitely wanted to catch one and see what it tasted like. Or maybe something much bigger and dangerous but it would definitely pump some extra blood in him.

He followed the trails of skidded dirt the mouse left behind and froze as he caught scent of something familiar yet unusual. A cat? As if to confirm this, a tiny and darkly colored tail slipped away and disappeared amongst the blurred strokes of the dry grass. Judging by the size and height of the creature- if indeed it was a cat, it would have been a kit. Anticipation growing, Olive followed quietly yet swiftly in the direction of where the kit strolled off. Scents of other individuals gradually mixed in. Olive abruptly stopped right on the edges of the supposedly cat camp. He had seen a group of cats before a few days ago, at least he caught glimpses of them. They called themselves a clan, and as realization grew his eyes eventually dimmed. "Agh, it's just them." Reason as to why he showed a lack of eagerness to these new visitors was that he knew they were going to leave anyway. Just some passerby walking through the area. He sat where he was and began to think whether he should bother talking with the travelers or leave and find something else.

Observing and contemplating was not something the dark tom did often. It was also not something he did well and, coupled with his habit of being easily distracted, it was no wonder he was soon diverted to other thoughts. The question of where the Clan should go now that it was evident they could no longer stay in their territory was the first to come to his mind, but Spiderstar truly had not answer to that. Not even the slightest idea, really. He just hoped StarClan would take over, guiding him and his Clan to a new place. If they did not, he wasn't sure the Clan would survive at all.

The next thing to enter his mind, unconsciously, was a scent. It was the scent of a cat, one Spiderstar did not recognize, but his mind did not register it until he heard the quiet sound of a voice that was carried to him on the light breeze. Turning, the dark tom looked over the tips of the tall grasses, which were swaying in the wind, but could not find the source of the noise. Perhaps it had just been his imagination. Yet, he was curious, as he often was, to find out if there was anyone - or anything - there. Getting up, he glanced back at his Clan once before stalking off into the long grasses.

Fenneltail's light scolding did not bother Lionpaw at all, as she knew her mentor was just teasing her. The trainee was not disrespectful to her elders, for the most part anyway, but liked to bother the ginger she-cat whenever she could. It had formed a more sisterly bond between the two rather than the rigid mentor-and-trainee relationship some of the other trainees had with their mentors. It was nice to be comfortable around one's mentor, as if they were family.

The admission that they might not be able to hunt, however, did bother Lionpaw as she had been very much looking forward to hunting today. Her tail drooped, falling from it's stick-straight position, and she hunched her shoulders. Maybe if she looked defeated Fenneltail would rethink her decision?

"But we're not leaving yet," Lionpaw mewed sadly. "If we go hunting quick now, we'll have more prey to eat before we set out for wherever it is we're going." Fenneltail continued to look unconvinced, so the trainee was forced to add, "I promise I'll be quick and that I'll catch something absolutely delicious. Pleeease?" The ginger trainee blinked her big amber eyes up at her mentor, almost ready to burst with the energy stored up inside of her.

    FENNELTAIL.

Honestly, how could anyone resist that face? Lionpaw was staring at her with her eyes wide and begging. Her tail might have been drifting close to the ground and her narrow shoulders may have been hunched, but she could almost smell the excitement rippling off of her trainee. The red ticked tabby knew that Lionpaw had her wrapped around her paw but she couldn't say no, not to that face. So Fenneltail gave an exaggerated sigh.

Her head dipped to look at her paws and her ears flicked backwards. It only lasted a moment as she set her copper eyes on the younger fae in front of her and inclined her head in a nod, "Okay then," she agreed finally, "but don't you dare go on your own. I'm coming with you." It wasn't that she didn't trust Lionpaw - she did, and she would trust the young cat with her life - but but she'd rather go with the tabby than leave her to wonder around. If the Clan left without them (she doubted they would, but they'd still have to be quick) then Lionpaw would need someone to look after her. She'd need someone who could track the Clan quickly and get them back to their friends and family. Because that was what a Clan was: their family. Getting to her paws and shaking out her medium-length fur, Fenneltail gave Lionpaw a smile. "Come on then."
