Rise of the Dark Apocalypse

ORIGIN

In the late twentieth century, the head scientists of the united interstellar federation worked together in attempts to bring together the untied worlds through the use of what they classified as "gateways". However, through the development of these gateways, one of the scientists became insane and tampered with the prototype. This had an adverse effect once activated; instead of opening to one of the many allied planets, it opened up to a world full of darkness and corruption. Unfortunately, barely anyone escaped the tragedy that befell the laboratory, and if they did, perished days after due to an unknown infection.

Having suffered from the effects of climate and the massive flooding and natural disasters that befell the planet decades before, and having built their one last bastion of life, the human race are now trapped with expectations that they will sooner or later be annihilated from this world. Whoever, if it weren't for the assistance of the extra-terrestrial beings that aided the humans,
all would have been lost.

As of now, everyone on Earth, both human and non-humans, are attempting to seal away the dark beings emerging from the lab's gateway, fighting for their survival and well-being. We will not back down.

Setting

The setting for this story is based on the last bastion for human civilisation that goes by the names "The Ark" or "The Interstellar Nexus". This massive piece of infrastructure acts as an artificial island of sorts, and has the ability to float on water. This island is split off into five different areas, each connected via large bridges and underwater tunnels.
The areas are as follows:

• Central Island:
  Contains the Citadel, the main governmental building and the Earth outpost for the UIF (United Interstellar Federation), as well as the entrance of the lab where the first dark apocalypse began. This is also where the commercial district is located, as well as high to middle class residential buildings.
• North-West Island:
  This island is the Industrial District, home of most factories, power generation plants, and water filtration, purification and decontamination centres, as well as an elevator leading to a large underground mineshaft.
• North-East Island:
  This island is a restricted area, it being the main detention centre. However, most lawyers, peace keepers, and judges reside on this island as that's where they work. Thankfully, however, there is no death-row and only petty criminals are detained there, as the more serious offenders are sent to a prison located on a space station.
• South-East Island:
  This island is the housing district, where most residences reside. It is, for the most part, the safest location to be. Small businesses, doctors and hospitals are located here, as well as low to middle-class housing, hotels and motels.
• South-West Island:
  On this island is a bio-dome, which is large enough to house multiple farms, a zoo, a nature preserve and a bio-lab that doubles as a veterinary clinic. This is the main source of food for Earth residences.

Character Creation

Layout

Creating a character might seem simple, but it's not as easy as most people think. You have to think about how your character acts, what they like, dislike, what their hobbies are and maybe who they like. You'll also have to think about their appearance.
Are they young, middle-aged, or old? Do they have any missing limbs due to an accident, or maybe they have bionics or prosthetic replacements? What's their hair colour, eye colour, skin colour? Do they have any scars, or maybe even tattoos or birth marks?

A lot of effort needs to be put into making your character, especially if you want them to stand out.
In this story, you are either a being from earth or another planet. You can even choose to be a member of the UIF, or a basic merchant, a soldier, scientist, or maybe a normal civilian, or maybe a visitor from a distant world. As for class and/or race, that's up to you.

Personality
Likes: Reon enjoys playing most types of video games, enjoys drawing, listening to rock, techno, metal, j-pop and k-pop genres of music, and playing musical instruments, though mostly prefers the guitar, violin and piano. He also enjoys acting, playing tabletop role-playing games such as D&D and Warhammer 4k, and practices martial arts and parkour.
Dislikes: Reon has a strong distaste towards watermelon, unable to stand its tastelessness. He also generally dislikes people that brag about their achievements, people who aren't open to other people's opinions, as well as people who are too selfish for their own good.
Hobbies: In his spare time, Reon practices Mixed Martial Arts and Parkour, both for the purpose of bettering his skills as a peace keeper and to stay in shape. He also tends to go to the local shooting range to practice on his aim. Apart from that, he also enjoys going to the arcade located in the shopping mall on the central island in his spare time, as well as playing games on the internet with some of his friends (especially Virtual Reality ones).
Personality Traits: Reon is a team-player and tends to be quite reliable most of the time, even if he becomes lazy every so often. He is generous, caring and helpful to those who ask for his assistance, or to those that are in genuine need of help, otherwise he keeps his distance. Most of the time he puts up a false attitude, seeming cheerful and brave, when he is the complete opposite due to events that have happened during his childhood.
Appearance
Skin Colour: Reon has pale white skin, with a sparse amount of freckles covering his body. Despite his normal-looking appearance, his infection takes up almost the entire left side of his body, making the infected area a slight shade of grey.
Hair Colour: Reon has medium-length, jet black hair with a crimson red bang that covers the left side of his face.
Eye colour(s): Reon's right eye is naturally an emerald green colour. His left eye, however, is a crimson red iris with a pitch black sclera, which is a result of his infection.
Body Shape: Reon is a slim young man, but is slightly muscular in the arms and legs. His figure is also slightly feminine. He has a squared jawline with an egg-shaped chin and small ears. His nose is small, the bridge slanted to the left ever so slightly due to it being broken some time during his past.
Height: Reon stands at 5 feet and 7 inches tall.
Weight: Reon weight roughly 45 kilograms, or roughly 99 pounds.
Extra: Reon has three bullet scars. The first is located on his back, near his right shoulder blade. The second is located near the centre of his back, just right of his spine. The third is just below his left shoulder blade. Reon also has a large tattoo of a reaper holding a scythe whilst standing above a bed of black roses, the location of which is covering his entire left arm (which tends to disguise the fact that he is infected).
Backbround
Reon was born in the middle of the first dark apocalypse, within an underwater bunker used to protect civilians from the shadow beings that were attacking the island. He lived in that bunker for most of his life, only able to leave once the apocalypse ended when he was sixteen. One day, whilst he was going to his highschool, he was attacked by a bully who just happened to be one of the "friendly" shadow beings that remained on Earth. This attack left him hospitalised and caused him to become one of the few "infected" humans. The infection hurt him for the most part, causing internal changes, but thankfully the scientists working on him were able to stop it from spreading. From that point on, he decided to teach his bully a lesson by extracting revenge on him some day, eventually becoming a security guard after graduation at the age of eighteen.
Whilst working as a security guard, he moved from location to location due to his contract, until he landed in hot water when a bank got robbed by a thieving duo. He attempted to protect the civilians inside, especially a little girl that had tripped whilst evacuating; this ended up with him once again being hospitalised with three bullets lodged in his back. Thankfully, the girl he protected was safe, but the criminals were still out there somewhere. Due to his bravery, the head of the Peace Keepers payed Reon a visit, offering him a position as an Undercover Peace Keeper. Reon accepted this offer, and as of today he still works as both a security guard and an Undercover Peace Keeper.
