There is a realm juxtaposed between reali
ty and imagination, torn between every ch
oice that is made and every chance taken.
To put it simply, it's called Purgatory. Cre
ated by three gods, it was meant to be a r
esting place for those who cannot yet pass
on. But even gods have their sins and slowl
y, they manifested until Purgatory was a p
ersonal hell outside of hell. Roamed by de
mons, ruled mercilessly by tyrants, a jail f
or the unfortunate souls who landed here,
forced to never leave. The demons who liv
e here, too, are suffering and some are mo
re human than you might think. So, every
century, souls wishing to leave this world
enter a game or more specifically, a chall
enge. The final team who wins is able to r
each Kain, the last creator who still exists,
and he shall grant you passage to leave. B
ut it won't be easy, you are with demons.

Usually to get to Purgatory, you must eithe
r have been created in that reality, or had
died back in the other. But recently, black
butterflies have been said to have leaked f
rom Purgatory's realm, landing on passerby
s and bringing them here. No matter how
they have come here, practically everyone
will enter Kain's Challenge. Because of the
massive amount of players, there are twel
ve to a team. The game consists of mainly
challenges that focus on either the bond be
tween team members and trust, or the toys
with the greatest fears that someone migh
t hold. Occasionally, for the entertainment
of those who did not join, they will hold b
attles at the main arena to the death. The
challenge continues until the last team sta
nds, which usually makes for about twenty
five to fifty challenges going up against su
pernatural creates three times your size.

Purgatory is made of three layers. The top
is where all new souls meet. It consists of
black markets, entertainment, and most i
mportantly wildlife of which everyone live
s off if they aren't interested in humans. H
owever, things get more complicated layer
s downwards. Reign over Purgatory has be
en split in the second and third layer, both
who have rivalries. The second layer is said
to be slightly more humane, but it's being r
uled carelessly by the youngest heir to the t
horne after the previous king was killed. T
he third, however, is incredibly cruel and h
as been ruled by the same man for many m
illeniums. There is a constant fight for pow
er, and the game helps the citizens take t
heir mind off of it. The whole land is cast
with a darkened feeling and a permanent n
ight. Red is seen decorated most commonly
and different cultures clash within the layers.
