Nicholas Frost

He could hear bells and the sound of singing as he approached the light. He was pulled back however by the familiar voice of an AI. Bolting upright, Nick almost immediately knocks himself out the minute he woke up, slamming his head roughly into the edge of the table. Cursing irritable at the throbbing pain, he smooches himself out from under the table before sitting up this time. He rubs at his aching head, gazing around with a dazed look. His restraints had snapped which explained why he was on the floor, but surprisingly enough he was still alive. Feeling himself up for any signs of injury, he notices he has a small piece of something sticking out of his leg. "Still alive." he replies back with a grimace as he gets to his feet, leaning on his uninjured leg for support, his hand resting on the center table. "Wheres wheezer?" he asks, looking around dizzily. "M-minerva...I think I'm seeing stars.." The engineer felt a wave a nausea hit, and he frowns at the horrible sensations flowing through his body at the moment.

"Yeah, free-fall from orbit tends to do that to ya," Minerva said, buzzing over to the wounded engineer and bending down for a closer look. She didn't actually have to bend down, of course, it was just something she'd picked up watching human interaction. "You humans are so freakin' fragile, I'm kinda surprised you're alive at all. Wes went off to the bridge, probably to see how bad a shape we're in." The AI maneuvered The Owl so that it was underneath Nicholas' arm and began to lift, trying to help him to his feet. "C'mon, Frosty," she said, "let's get that leg patched up. Hopefully the medbay survived the crash.

Wesley, meanwhile, was limping onto the bridge, greeted by the sight of the pilot hanging lifelessly from her harness. Was she dead? Was she unconscious? Wesley was about to ask, but at that moment all the shell shock and panic finally made their way to her brain, and she slumped weakly to the floor, staring wide-eyed at nothing in particular. She couldn't bring herself to move, to speak, to do anything, really. Her baby was in ruins, people had died, they were stranded light years from home. What could she do? She was an engineer, not a survivalist. In a place like this, she'd just be dead weight.

Nicholas Frost

He whimpers as the owl helps him stand upright, feeling helpless and broken, even though his injuries weren't severe. "this sucks." he grumbles, "beyond words."
Letting the AI lead him to the med bay he prays that its still in one piece. "I'm surprised too, guess I'm just lucky." he replies quietly, unable to remember what happened. All that he could remember was the sounds of his restraints giving out and him flying forward, then everything went black. From what he could piece together he guessed he had slammed his head so hard on the table it knocked him unconscious. Rubbing at his head, he could already feel a bruise coming on. "do we know how many casualties?"

August

August hated roller coasters, and by that he meant any ride that went fast and messed with gravity. This, for example— he was pretty certain he'd never be able to eat again. But there were more important matters to deal with, and he reluctantly unstrapped himself from the wall, checking for injuries as he did. Nothing too bad, although that blow to his face would probably leave a nasty mark. ALEC's voice rang out through the halls as August made his way to the genetic lab, making him wonder yet again why that AI was the main computer. All the other ones were much more serious and responsible... And did he say dead? What did he... oh. Suddenly August saw what he meant, and decided he would much rather curl up on the floor than go inside the lab.
ALEC

Time to get to work. After a quick check of the crew's readouts, Alec whirred into view in the cockpit, holding a digital notepad for effect.
"Out of the original 136 humans stationed aboard the Zodiac, seven are confirmed to be alive. There are a few who I can't get readouts from, and a few who could be alive but will probably die soon. Sucks for them, eh? Anyways, we've got those statis chamber thingies down by the airlock, if you want to use them. I suggest using one for the pilot if she doesn't wake up; she's pretty important."

As Rikimaru stumbled in the dark, they heard Monty whimper. Looking over, they saw the body of Enya. Monty was licking the woman's face gently and Rikimaru sighed. Crouching down, they closed the security officer's eyes and tapped into what was left of the intercom system. "Rikimaru to anyone. Enya is dead. Anybody still out there?" They picked Monty up, fearful he would cut his paws on the glass that littered the floor, and attempted to make it to the bridge.

Unfortunately the halls were caved in. Rikimaru crouched down and began to transmit again. "Hello? Anyone?" They mumbled quietly to themself, hugging Monty tight "Please..."

Theo cursed softly to himself. The young pilot was gone. Hell of a way to go. She did an excellent job, even without the AI, he hadn't doubted her ability to land them safely. And now, she was gone. This new world had already taken its first human life. Theo had never been a superstitious, or religious man, but at this moment, he felt compelled to act. He slipped a small silver coin from his breast pocket. His brother-in-arms had given it to him, decades ago, at the start of their first assignment. "To pay the ferryman, should things turn south," he had said. Theo knew it was meant for him, but he had grown fond of the scrappy young lady during their training. She deserved better than this. He slipped the coin into her pocket, just in case the gods of Earth could find her soul out here, if they ever existed.
He was interrupted by one of the AI, ALEC. How the holo-emitters were still online was a mystery, but he was encouraged by it. The main power was still on, meaning they might still be able to take off.
I suggest using one for the pilot if she doesn't wake up; she's pretty important." The AI announced. Theo shook his head. "She won't be joining us." He replied solemnly. One thing he never could get used to was the caviler attitude AIs took regarding human life. "And you may want to re-calibrate your memory banks. There's only nine humans on the crew manifest. Four AI and one canine."
He wiped sweat from his brow. The day wasn't over and there was at least one grave to dig.

Reinen grumbled. He hated being woken up early on a Saturday. He blinked. Something was on top of him. Was Nero playing pranks again? He tried to move whatever it was off of him but his arm was pinned under something else. He tried to pull it free but he was greeted with intense pain in his arm, and his head. He laid back, unsure of what was happening. This wasn't home. It was too dark and didn't smell right. It smelled like his office, but it also smelled of burning rubber and dust. His head was spinning. What had happened? He remembered Rikimaru helping him up.... and the dog, Monty, licking his hand? What was before that? Reinen lay in the dark for a long time, trying to stay calm and remember what had happened. There was an explosion. He was the only one hurt. But there was no shaking now. The hum of the engines was gone. He called into the darkness, hoping someone could hear him. "Dad?...... Dad?..... are you there?.... Help, somebody.... Help. Dad?" His voice seemed so small. The darkness gobbled it up.

Rikimaru looked up as Monty struggled out of their arms. He began barking and scratching at a door. Taking a deep breath, they stood up and brushed their coat off. Regaining their briefly lost composure, they approached.
"Whats wrong, boy?" They asked, looking at the door. They put their ear to it and heard nothing. They pried the door open and blinked in surprise when Monty ran through. Stumbling through the door, they clambered through the debris and followed their dog to the med bay. Calling his name, they found themself stuck on the other side of a locked door. Monty had managed to slip in but the hole he had entered from was too small for a human. They called his name again, angry at themself for not knowing how to pick a lock.

Well, if ALEC's calculating right," Minerva said, "Then a lot. There's only like four or five of us left now, I think. Which, considering we're stuck on an alien planet with a ship that's probably scattered across half of it, doesn't bode well for our chances. Watch your head." The AI dipped down, avoiding a low-hanging crossbeam, then momentarily left Nicholas's side to pry the door to the medical section open. "Hey!" She called out to the inside, "anybody in there? We've got wounded over here!

Back on the bridge, Theo's words filtered through the haze that hung over Wesley's mind. Unfortunately they didn't help. "It's my fault," she said, in a voice so soft it was almost a whisper. "It's my fault they're dead." If she'd been capable of rationalizing at the moment, she'd have known there was nothing she could've done, but in her current state, rational thought was the last thing on her mind. Curling up into a ball on the floor of the ruined bridge, Wesley cradled her head in her hands. She should've felt sad, or remorseful, or even angry. Instead, she just felt numb.

Reinen heard someone calling for Monty, the sound of tiny clawed paws clattering across debris and the kinds of noises someone makes when face with some frustration. He was oddly amused that the little corgi was the one to try to rescue him from whatever was going on. He nearly laughed out loud. How was this pup gonna lift this stupid thing off him? He did laugh at the mental images that conjured up, of Monty hulking out and flinging whatever was on him aside with his ripped puppy arms. Reinen remembered suddenly, the pain killers that had been administered earlier, and chocked the ridiculous imagery up to that.
