- "well, don't you just know everything? the bloodsucker muttered irritably, agitated by the truthfulness laced in all saidi said.
harley had the unusual and particularly unexpected need to shield his ears. the logical explanation would've been his growing irritation in his and saidi's current feud, but that wasn't so. no, instead, it was a foreign noise echoing off in the distance. it grew in velocity as he focused more on it, which he instantly regretted. the sirens wailed, soiling his ear drums to such an extent that he temporarily lost his hearing. everything felt numb, and he'd practically zoned out in shock. someone was definitely coming, and he instantly hated knowing who it was. the police, of course. somehow, harley had determined the human protectors were his enemies quite some time ago. with their horrendously noisy sirens and pointless weapons, he'd declared to himself that he was to detest their existence. it was likely illogical of him to form such assumptions, considering some police weren't bad people at all. generally they just wanted to help the defenseless humans who couldn't do for themselves. however, harley still managed to find reasons to dislike them.
the police men's presence became clear to the others, as harley could sense their bodies growing tense. the bickering that surrounded him came to an abrupt finish as the officers finally came into view, wielding their weaponry and bearing faces of false confidence. it was a bit annoying, the mere existence of these police men. they'd ended such a pleasant conversation he was having! how disappointing. the brunette could feel a growl rising in his throat, and his ongoing lack in hearing was beginning to be quite the crutch. the claustrophobic sensation he endured from being unable to make out noises was unbearable. he could only pick out a few distinct thrumming noises, likely coming from the fleeing creatures that surrounded him. everyone was bolting in their own direction, but a couple did remain. like hyde, for example. he was staying to play. no surprises there, naturally. the vamp felt like he was being driven insane! this lack in sound was beginning to take a toll on him, and it was happening far too quickly. hunger, mind boggling hunger... harley felt like he'd certainly fall out without blood on his tongue. soon. now.
harley immediately lost his self-control. saidi was forgotten, and once again he was the last of his species, fighting for his life. but he wasn't scared, oh no. he had a disconcerting level of faith in his abilities, even while he was briefly impaired without hearing. damn those sirens. the male caught eyes with one of the officers, and from there everything was a blur. he shoved saidi aside, sprinting forward with his extreme speediness. a few bullets from the man he was aiming for flew in his direction, but none managed to land its target. harley's eyes were so red that there was no longer any white, just a lustful hunger and desperate need. it was practically like he'd entirely lost who he was in one second. this was why he was so dangerous. he transformed from a sensible creature into a deranged beast in a split second notice. he became aggressive, and lost the ability to control himself. when the vamp could reach him, he lunged towards his target. he'd tackled the poor man before he could take another shot, disarming him quickly. all the officer could get out was a "what the h-?" before harley had fastened his fangs into the side of the man's throat. the delicious crimson liquid instantly began to flow from the open wound, and his victim turned paler and paler as he claimed it as his. the vampire's eyes rolled into the back of his head, filled with relief. he was regaining some level of composure each gulp of blood he drank.
