it became clear to colby that james' large size isn't what makes the moose shifter appear as a "bumbling fool." the man's way of speaking seems so apologetic and clumsy, and he reminds colby of a fish out of water. moose shifters are known to be intelligent and elegant, strangely enough, but the man before colby seems to be the complete opposite. sure, james is large with a tan complexion and the signature brown hair, but when he speaks, he reminds colby more of a mouse than anything. and honestly, the mouse like moose was starting to give the stoat shifter a headache.

the boy pinches the bridge of his nose. "you talk too much," colby comments with annoyance dripping from his voice. colby is obviously not the talkative type, unless the conversation has room for many snarky comments or is serious enough to make colby actually listen. he can't understand how someone could talk so much it makes his ears hurt. at least 90% of the time, he truly thinks of sewing the person's lips together or knocking them out.. well, he does "knock them" out in some way with the bluntly honest words he tells them. colby huffs. "maybe if you didn't talk so much, you wouldn't come out as a "bumbling fool.""

honestly, colby wouldn't mind the moose's presence if he were a bit less talkative. although colby chooses to be alone, one or two people won't cause him to break. bring in groups or crowds, though, will. such as right now. too many people means too many people to be annoyed by, and too many people to ruin his day (though this one in particular isn't the best.) but he always liked to be alone; all by himself with his own mind and thoughts. he is able to enjoy the little things when he isn't with anyone, and can truly feel happy. he is a beacon for people and social incidents, sadly (take the three people who ran into him for example,) but when the signal drawing the people near breaks, colby can actually enjoy his day and life, no matter how twisted today's life and socitey is.

sometimes, though, the air may get chilly without someone near,
but colby doesn't mind a bit of a chill.

(Ugh! Okay, I'm literally so stupid. So, I had a reply here but I edited it to get the header thing for Basil, and accidentally typed my whole other reply here and posted it, thinking it was a whole other post instead of this one, and I'm really sorry, and if anyone can get the original post, which is virtually impossible, it'd be much obliged! Ugh, sorry, sorry.))

airy watched silently as basil readied her medium vanilla iced coffee, thinking he was probably sick of the four word, twenty three letter order that she'd asked for him twice, though the second time without words. the girl dug out some cash once more and slid around jaime, approaching the counter just in front of the bobcat. handing him the payment and six dollar tip, airyanna murmured, "please just tell me already that i look like i climbed out of a dumpster." her words were bluntly spoken and she scowled down at her ruined shirt, before glancing back up at the boy with a renewed smile and gleam in her eyes as she reached over to take her new cup of iced coffee. yum. the other cup was still resting in her left hand, and she tried not to make it look too weird that she wasn't throwing it away. she wasn't good at remembering phone numbers, mind you. "sorry to budge your customer. i was really looking forward to that iced coffee and accidentally... well, had an accident. bumped into that, uhm..." airy leaned over the counter a little, so that their noses were just inches away, like before. throwing a thumb over her shoulder and nodding backwards, she tried to show him the boy she had knocked into- a shifter, it seemed, just like everyone else in this coffeehouse. they all had watches, exact replicas. that was evidence enough that they all were similar in some very specific way. "..shifter. i might be going over and offering to buy him a new sweatshirt soon." although there were no humans around, she didn't feel right saying the word out in public. even though it rolled smoothly off her tongue and all, humans didn't say it loud and proud either. letting out a little breathy laugh, she retreated her head back a few inches.

he had gone through multiple books, and was shocked to actually find three books that referenced to the kingdom. he decided to just check them out, for they would give him something to read when he was locked in the zone at night. with a soft sigh, he fully stood up, standing to his full height, which caused him to tower over just about everyone in the library. just as he began to turn, so that he could check out the books, when a book cart ran right into his stomach, causing him to let out a grunt, not really of pain but more surprise. his hazel eyes raised to look at the dark-haired boy, who looked nothing like someone that would work in a library, and who smelled like a shifter of some sort.. maybe some sort of sea animal by the scent of him. "dear gosh, be careful with that thing before you kill someone. anyways, i have to be out, sorry!" his words seemed condescending, but a playful smile showed off his pearly whites before walking off and getting his books, which he tucked under his arm and headed out.

Lawrence barely had time to react before the moose shifter was off. "S-sorry sir!" He muttered under his breath, as if James would hear his apology from half way across the library. Wren was ready to bang his head into the nearest bookshelf. How do you manage to screw up twice? He thought. She might as well fire you already. The whale shifter uneasily glanced back at the librarian. He sighed and turned the cart around, shelving the last few books then pushing it back to its place. No one else was in the library. He'd have to stay there until they closed. Wren groaned boredly, knowing that he could do nothing, he was powerless, under his boss' cold gaze. He would just have to wait.

[ i'm just gonna leave wren there for a while. he's a little stuck. i'll get back to zacharie. ]

Zacharie awoke to a blinding light coming in through the window. He blinked a few times until his vision adjusted to the brightness, then sat up, running a hand through his messy hair. He swung his legs over the edge of the bed and his feet found the floor; he jumped up and proceeded to get dressed. Zach usually wore white, like his hair. The eighteen-year-old threw on a jacket, slipping his arms though the sleeves as he walked outside and jogged down the walkway leading up to the house. He didn't usually tell his parents when he left the house, which wasn't the best habit, but he figured that they'd notice his absence when they woke up. Zacharie didn't have a job, nor any place to be or to go, but he wasn't doing anything staying in the house, or staying asleep. A walk wouldn't hurt. He shoved his hands into his pockets, looking around as he breathed out puffs of frost. It was a chilly day, enough to make his breath visible, and he contemplated shifting into his warm, furry animal form. But he knew that he couldn't do that, not in a city, surrounded by humans. He finally decided to duck into a building, a coffee shop. He threw off his hood and rubbed his hands together, trying to warm them, as he dug his wallet out of his pocket. He didn't have much money on himself, but it was enough to buy a warm drink.

]Basil smiled at her. He didn't exactly know why he was being so friendly today, despite being the only employee present at this rush hour, but he could sense it was probably because he felt so much sympathy and compassion for the other shifters. Oh, yes. Something big was happening, and he would tell just by the look of all the shifters in the coffee house. He winked and pulled out his Sharpie once more, leaving it at a more accessable place next to the cash register. There was a cause he needed to notify people of, shifters and non-shifters alike. Although he knew a lot of shifters didn't trust humans, Basil didn't mind them all that much. Even though humans could be snobby and ungrateful, those traits weren't excluded in the genes of shifters, either. And, you had to remember the fact that no human other then the government officials knew about the communities and the harsh treatment of the shifters. Perhaps the humans might even want to join the cause and rebel against the government with the shifters. Basil knew he was probably wishful thinking that the humans and shifters would get along, but after so much hostility, he needed a refresher that peace was possible. He was ready to leave the message on everyone's cup, day after day if he needed to. "Airy, if I told you that you looked like trash, I'd be lying. You're fine." And he was telling the truth, too. She didn't look half as bad as he would've himself. He swirled around the cold, sweating coffee and handed it to her, nodding at the gesture towards the boy in line behind his current customers. It was true, they all had the same watches, and he figures he was too busy to even notice.

airy rested her elbows on the cold, hard countertop as she received her new medium vanilla iced coffee, setting her empty cup down beside her as she pressed the bills into basil's palm. at his words she rolled her eyes, shaking her head with a little smile that curled the corners of her lips and dug dimples into her cheeks. "thanks again, new friend." her words were light and to the point, and she glanced down to admire his doodle of the castle once more etched onto her new plastic coffee cup. it was a brilliant idea to do this, and she would pat him on the back or tell him so, but the girl could already tell that he knew by the look in his eyes when he drew it. "hey, doesn't anyone else work here?" she'd just noticed that he was the only one busting his butt, trying to get to all the orders and finish them in a timely manner, and wondered aloud where the other employees were. yeah, it was saturday, but that gave them no reason to ditch work and leave one teenaged boy alone to fend for himself. it was rush hour, for pete's sake! airy looked up to meet the boy's gaze, waiting for his response. she so very badly wanted to ask to help- she was indeed experienced in making many of the drinks here- but upon thinking it over, she realized she was far too shy when it came to asking things such as that, and... could a random shifter come in and offer to help when unemployed?

Lex smiled and shrugged. "Come on short stuff," he teased taking her hand and winking to the human girls to the side. He then pulled out the watch all shifters had and pretended to check the time, just to let them know that they didn't want him. after putting it back in his pocket, he started to walk out of the shop, holding the door open for corie before shutting it behind him and walking towards the forest with her beside him. "So are we gonna race, or just mess around?" he asked, just so he knew that he could either go easy on her or completely beat her.

Nicolas looked down and smiled at the girl. Pushing back in his chair he then stood and offered her his hand. The vest rubbing uncomfortably on his armpits. He widened his stance to help keep him balanced and also pull the girl up or offer a sturdy place to pull herself up. Once she was standing he grabbed a cookie from his napkin and offered it to her. "Cookie? It's chocolate ship if you care." He threw his hand out and gestured to the chair across from him, silently asking if she wanted to sit down.

Having been working at the coffee shop for a little over
an hour, Luka was feeling a little unamused and was scanning the overly full coffee shop for any sign of a remedy for her boredom. After filling her last order before her break, Luka's eyes came across a duo of obvious shifters having a little bit of a bicker between themselves. Well, I guess you couldn't really consider it a "bicker", considering the only one who looked overly annoyed was the one that was almost half the others size, in comparison. A small chuckle erupting from her lips, she hung her apron up and stepped out from behind the counter, striding right over to the pair. Overhearing the last bit of conversation before her arrival caused Luka to snicker. "A bumbling fool?" she repeated out loud, standing right next to both James and Colby with her arms crossed over her chest and a smirk tugging at the corner of her lip. "Now that's a good one. People actually call you that?" She asked, turning her cornflower blue eyes up towards the moose who was also almost half a foot taller. "Is shorty here making a fool out of you?" she asked, tilting her head in the slightest of manners as she grinned. Calling Colby short really wasn't called for, considering she was roughly the same size, if not a little shorter.

just what he needs, another person to get on his nerves. colby noticed the girl just as she was making her way towards him and the bumbling fool, but he didn't expect her to actually comment on the conversation. "gah, the people beacon must be on full drive today," colby thinks, cursing. (see my last post if you're not sure what the "beacon" is ^^'.) immediately the girl's scent drifts to colby and he cringes; a cat shifter. of course she has to be a cat shifter. the feline like smirk could have given her shift away without her scent. great, now he has a mouse of a moose and a feline who probably wouldn't mind chasing his stoat form around. he groans audibly, closing his eyes and pinching the bridge of his nose. "if one more person comes up i swear.."

he is able to ignore her first words, but when his height comes into the conversation yet again, he scoffs. "i'm taller than you, cat." hmm.. maybe he has something against cats. (well, they are a predator of his shift, and his childhood was his aunt leaving him alone with feline shifters... hmm..) but looking at the girl next to him, he was truly a good three inches or so taller, being five foot ten and all. he could see over her head clearly, with her head coming barely to his eyes. what exactly makes him short?

The bobcat shrugged. "Yeah, my manager is working today but she's outside, probably smoking." Basil didn't mind getting to take orders from all the shifters, though. Usually, they aren't busy at all, human or shifter, but he could tell that all the shifters were there for a reason, and it encouraged him to work even harder. Usually, he felt alone in the town and in the communities, feeling he was different. But now, he felt like he belonged with all the shifters in one place, and he knew that's what it would feel like in the Kingdom, where all the shifters were meant to be together. He felt tension rise between three in line. Basil bit his lip and picked up the Sharpie, popping the cap on and off, by habit. He tapped the marker against the counter as he talked."Hey, would you mind stepping a bit out of the way, please? This weasel (Colby) here seems pretty irritated, and I think he needs some caffeine in his veins." The boy chuckled, talking loud enough for Colby to hear.

(I had a bigger reply typed up, but my computer glitches again, and I had to type it all back up, and unfortunately it's smaller this time.)
