I shrugged right back at Adrian. "Well, I've never had enough money to buy a watch. Most times, I just set up anything I need as soon as I finish breakfast, and then if I have any time I do other stuff." Then I cast my gaze downwards. "Well, not for a long while anyway." Most people here didn't know where I'd come from, and I had asked those who did to keep it quiet. I knew that a lot of the people here had had really bad lives before this, and in comparison, mine hadn't been so bad. Yes, my family hated me, but other than my brother, they hadn't hurt me. They'd given me food, shelter, and water, and I couldn't have asked for more.
