Rune looked around. It was incredibly peaceful, you know, for a location of the probably most hated and feared guild in Carvel. The woman never understood how no one, after such a long time of being there and existing, never found the hideout. It's a shame, too; no one can see how beautiful it is here. The trees were scattered around in a unruly, yet pleasant manner, always colored in the prettiest shades of yellow, red and green. There was a small lake nearby which always offered cool refreshment and a nice reflection of the forest's calming image, but it could never capture the soothing sounds of the birds singing early in the morning and the rustling of fallen leaves in the evening. The girl closed her eyes and enjoyed the peace around her, then snapped out of her trance as a whistle came to her ears. She lifted her head, only to find Fabian standing behind her, ''Good, you're here.'' she said and smiled, then smacked his shoulder and started walking without adding anything to her sentence. She thought it was pretty clear of what she wanted and where she was going, not to mention Avis was not a toddler, he didn't need explaining. ''So, Avis.'' she started after a while, glancing at the man walking next to her, ''Mind if I ask you something? Something... personal, or anything along those lines?'' she asked, her eyes gaining a flicker of playfulness, but also curiosity. Even though they were thieves together, Rune never knew much about him, simply because she was never that interested nor did the man show any signs of wanting to explain himself or his history. Now, she just wanted to break the silence and possible boredom on their way to Carvel, and maybe learn something about the man she called her partner now.

She muttered a greeting and was then off, leading the way as they travelled through the dawn light and into the main city of Carvel. She set a fast pace, leading him through the surprisingly quiet streets and it was almost a struggle to keep up with her. He was taller than her, with longer legs but she could travel quite fast when she wanted to. Her voice broke through his silent marvelling of her speed and asked him if he'd mind answering some questions. Eyebrows knitting together in curiosity, he gave a nod. "You're feeling very inquisitive today," he commented quietly, moving sideways to step out of the way of a baker travelling to his shop, "ask away. I will answer the best I can."

''Well, can't help myself.'' she answered and gave him a smile, ''What I wanted to ask is... well... how come you joined the Guild? Didn't you have a family or... someone, a lover at least?'' she stuttered out, feeling like she was prying too much, and the girl regretted it immediately. "I'm sorry, I... shouldn't have asked that..." she apologized, pulling her hood a bit more down, trying to hide her blushing cheeks. I mean, it was none of her business what the man did or why he made the choices he did, and she didn't want to come out as too pushy or anything, but she still couldn't help but wonder: why was someone like him, someone as intelligent and well mannered, in a Guild such as this one? Stealing, lying and hidding was done on a daily basis, and yes, it was a lesser evil for a greater good, but still. What they were doing couldn't be described as an honest living, and someone like Fabian certainly seemed like he deserved more in life. Rune continued walking through the streets of Carvel at a quick pace, until they came to the merchant's house a minute later and she stopped to look at it. Or at least see if Avis wanted to say anything. She wasn't sure anymore.

Avis snorted, stifling a laugh. "A lover? No woman has caught my eye. No man either, although I not interested in my own sex." He replied, shaking his head. Imagine, him, sneaking off to meet with a lover. And likely everyone would think, if he had one, she'd be some rich noblewoman, a duchess perhaps. "As for family, I left them long ago. Rather, they left me. I was born to a poor family. It's normal. But My parents served an earl and his wife. The master spotted my ability from a young age and I became his ward." Now that was something more unusual. Most wards were the sons and daughters of other nobles, yet he had been taken from the dust and the dirt. "I learnt how to fight, I learnt how to behave and how to speak. I was a noble in all but blood and riches, for I had none of my own."

Oh, he could remember those days: sparring in the courtyard, the banter between friends, drinking in the nearby taverns. There had been the ones who held their grudges - who expected anything different? - and there had been many fights. His first scars came form those skirmishes. "But I was framed for a crime I did not commit. I was thrown from his house and I travelled here. I began to steal, to pickpocket. What else could I do? No one would believe me if I told them the truth! Then I joined the guild, and I've been here ever since."

They arrived at the merchant's house and Fabian looked at it. His head tilted at he took in the impressive sight before he began walking again, beckoning with his hand. It wouldn't be a good idea to hang about gawking.

The man actually answered and he didn't seem to be angry, nor did he have anything against the question, her apology being unnecessary and forgotten. The woman listened to his story, chuckeled at his answer about lovers, and she was impressed at the luck the man had in life. Coming from a poor family and rising to such nobelty, Rune definitely got a different, perhaps better and more respected picture of the man she had chosen as her partner, a comrade. "Well, you certainly had an interesting life, more than me at least." the girl admitted with a smile, noticing when Avis began walking away from the richman's house and the girl followed him, soon taking the lead again. They had quite a bit of walking to her uncle's house, and she was getting hungry. Rune stopped for a moment, looking at the crowded market on their right. It was tempting her with the various fruits and colorful items on the small stands held by people of different faces, some bigger, some smaller, some brighter, some darker. With a reluctant sigh, the woman continued walking. Getting to that house was the first step towards the riches of that wealthy merchant and she couldn't wait to get to it.

Winry walks up, and looks around. She than remembers she slept in. She jumps up and changes and bathes quickly. She sticks her knives in her belt than puts a shirt on. She rushes out. Grabbing a cloak. She goes to the make shift bar, grabs some bread and sits gobbling it quickly. She mumbles to herself a to do list. "Find something to pay back duke, make sure it's nice and clean."

Fabian moved closer to Rune for a moment, allowing a tall man to shoulder past him. His nose wrinkled a little in distaste at the rough contact but he did not turn to rebuke the man. They had enough to be getting on with without arguing with an ill-tempered man first thing in the morning. Avis was sure he could take the man in a fight, but it was not worth the risk to gain injury when he needed to go out every night to make something of a living.

"Thank you," he responded with a wiry smile, "it was nice while it lasted but I much prefer my current lifestyle." It had been nice to have his every whim and want paid for without him even having to think about it, and with such a man backing him Avis had been able to have intimate relations with many women. But upon being framed for the theft of the earl's wife's favourite, most expensive necklace, he had been cast out like a dog in the rain. How ironic that the crime for which he had been framed had then become his chosen area of expertise.
