Elizabeth now saw that the man on the horse was heading towards her and a little group of Istoth's soldiers near her. They'll get pummeled by him, she thought to herself. Hastily, she jumped into action. The blonde headed girl sprinted at the oncoming horseman, pulling out a dagger with her left hand, holding it backwards. She did not mean the horse wrong, only its saddle.

With her sword, she would use to block any attacks from the rider if he noticed. With the dagger, she'd slash at the strap. As she ran past the horse, she did just so, and hoped to god she hadn't injured the horse. Skidding to a halt, she turned around, her sword still raised to protect her, and looked to see if her plan had succeeded.

(agh this is a bit lame. Just got home from school so I'm freaking tired. And hopefully we can get you in here soon, Mockingjay. I'm unsure of whose open.)

Beinethiel woke with a jerk when he was washing her face and mumbled to her. With a quick, fluid motion she blinked slightly, to see if he left her or not to die. Unfortunately, he was sitting there next to her, and he kept glancing at her. Growling, the she-elf moved slightly feeling her wounds bound up and her armour removed. "Thanks." She wasn't unreasonable and he had shot her though but, then again he saved her life after that. Bay sighed and clenched her eyes shut tightly, trying to get the pounding headache away. "I know you are probably going to take me back to your dungeon. I don't plan on letting you take me that easy. " Quickly, she tackled him to the ground, rolling into the leaves with a painful smile. Her wounds started to bleed heavily again she pinned him to the ground. She was weak, very weak indeed and he could easily over-power her. The flames were advancing, Beinethiel could feel the heat on her back. With a shake of her head she pushed herself away from him, stumbling backwards. A horrible feeling rushed up her body as she tried to regain her footing, but soon she tripped over a dead log and fell with a grunt on her back. The world spinned around her as she cover her face with her bloody hands, trying to get her sharp senses back. Her protective strenght was gone now and she just felt so weak and helpless. Beinethiel blinked a few more times before passing out into a hot world of fire. For the first time she wished he would still help her not die. She could still feel the heat of the fire above her as he raged around her for the power of the fire was from Ryder, the dragon. Managing to get a scream from her parting lips she opened her eyes in pure fear. "LEONIDAS!!!" (Just giving him a change to bring her back to the castle dungeons.. c; )

uilinnor wallowflight

an elf of Seulghem

T he warhorn rang out over the fields, blasting through the air so fiercely that Tuilinnor briefly stopped his ears, irritatedly wondering how on earth did the loud trumpeting sound not seem to faze the other warriors of both realms. His thoughts died, however, as he watched the two armies briefly bellow obscenities at each other before charging down upon each other. The horses of both armies neighed in half-mad voices, and the sun glinted off the metallic gleam of swords and spears being unsheathed as they charged off to war.
It seemed that one Istoth soldier noticed him, before coming charging over to his half-concealed point in the grass. He quickly drew an arrow and shot the warrior down, and couldn't help but grimace slightly when his arrow missed the head and instead closed itself on the warrior's throat, sending the man down in a flurry of armor, screams, and blood while the horse bolted. Not the cleanest kill he had ever made, but he had little other choice; he had made the decision to come observe the battle without being properly armed, so he might as well have to deal with it.

The only warning Tuilinnor had of danger was the soft sound of footsteps and the swift snick of an arrow being nocked to a bowstring, when suddenly he was being shoved from behind and a silver-shafted arrow was being held to his throat. He let out a choked cry and jerked stiffly forwards, narrowly avoiding slicing open his own throat on the gleaming point of the weapon being bared towards him.

A quiet but lethal voice with a grim undertone breathed into his ear, "You only have a few moments to explain who you are and what your business is before I'll slice your windpipe." When he finally dared to open his eyes, he was locked gazes with two icy-blue orbs glaring out at him from a surprisingly feminine face. Since when did the Seulghem army accept females as warriors?! was the first startled thought that pierced his mind.

When he got over the initial shock, he relaxed his stance a bit. He gingerly leaned backwards and edged the arrow-point away from his throat with careful fingers, eyeing the sharpened end with a mixture of apprehension and fascination; this was a true weapon, unlike his own hunting arrows. "Calm yourself, my lady," he retorted to the woman, getting a good look at her for the first time; her ears were pointed, so she was definitely an elf (he noted this with relief), and with her dark hair and keen eyes, he realized that she probably didn't look to much different than himself. As she had seemingly come from their side of the border, Tuilinnor deduced that the woman was most likely of the Seulghem allegiance; not an intruder, then.

"I am not of that Istoth scum, but am a Seulghem citizen, as you are," he explained cautiously, hoping he'd be able to convince the other elf not to kill him. "I mean no harm to anyone of Seulghem, and am naught but a hunter." He left out the parts about him trading his prey to the black market of the kingdom; for some reason he didn't believe that this female warrior would appreciate that much, and he certainly did not anticipate being arrested.

"I was, er, curious, so I came to watch the battle, he chanced these words, and winced at his own speech; he had given half the truth, at least, but it still sounded artificial and far too suspicious to his own ears.

Pʀɪɴᴄᴇ Aᴇʀᴏɴ ᴏғ Sᴇᴜʟɢʜᴇᴍ
Currently;; Treating the hostage | Tagged;; Evangeline

Aeron had almost finished unbuckling the shoulder clasp of the chest plate when the Princess began to stir. He withdrew his hands slightly. Aeron wasn't exactly sure how Evangeline would take the fact that she had been brought here. Perhaps he should have checked her for concealed weaponry. To his bemusement, she didn't jump at him or shout obscenities. Instead, Evan reached out, her fingers resting on his helmet. She was clearly delirious from the pain. The Princess's hand dropped; fingertips brushing his cheek, before returning to her side. Pike. She whispered, before lulling back into blackness. Aeron shook his head, allowing himself a small chuckle.

Nimbly he unclasped the last two buckles on the leather armour and slid off the breastplate. Even through the tunic, he could tell that the impact had probably been quite painful. Aeron hesitated, debating how much of her modesty he actually wanted to compromise. After a moments decision, he chose that he wanted to survey the damage. He gripped the hem of her tunic and was just beginning to roll it up when she came around for a second time. Quickly, he recoiled. Something about the fear in her eyes made him think that she wasn't in cuckoo land anymore.

Aeron listened to her panicked ramblings with a look of arrogant bemusement. She spat the word Prince rather begrudgingly, throwing him a look filled with daggers. Still, Aeron remained unperturbed. Instead, he grinned, matching her gaze, "If looks could kill, I think I'd be dead." He stood up, stretching. The armour was weighing heavy on him now; honestly he couldn't wait to take the damn stuff off, "Calm down. Believe me, if I'd wanted you dead, you'd have your head cleaved in two right now. It's not exactly like you could put up much of a fight." His voice had evened out, becoming calm and gentle; losing the arrogance.

He was about to say something else when a healer burst into the tent, Evacuate the injured! The tents are on fire. That blasted dragon. Aeron crouched down again beside Evan, "Leave you here to burn, or keep you alive. Decisions decisions." Before she could protest (he doubted she had the strength too anyway), Aeron slid his arms beneath her and pulled her up into his arms again. He took great pleasure in been a little rougher with her this time. Carrying her out and away from the now alight tent, he plonked her down on the grass where the other healers had gathered. He gazed out across the battle field. This time his jaw was tense and his eyes were icy with anger, "Istoth neglected to mention they had a dragon in their midst." At the moment the beast was targeting objects rather than people. If it turned on the men, carnage would ensue.

Evangeline's temper only flared when the prince responded, as cocky and arrogant as normal. Narrowing her eyes, Evan opened her mouth to reply that she would kill him herself as soon as she got the chance, and that she wouldn't have her looks do it. Unfortunately, she continued talking, so Evangeline shut her mouth, listening with a touch of impatience. Surprised when his voice came out calm and gentle, Evangeline's eyes widened to their normal size and most of the anger from her face disappeared. However, there was still a fire bubbling in her stomach. Literally, a little volcano of pain was still coming from her ribs. But there was also anger, which probably wouldn't ever fade. Evan had lived with anger in her chest for eighteen years, all the years she had lived.
Still, not wanting to let the prince tease her without getting at least a small remark in, Evangeline replied grumpily, "You don't know what sort of a fight I can put up when I'm not injured." Her gaze rolled back over to meet his blue one, and she sighed minutely, pondering whether or not to comment that he was much nicer and easier to talk to when he wasn't so bloody arrogant, but before she had the chance to, a healer burst into the tent, screaming something about a fire.
A fire? I thought I had dreamed that... There was a dragon too, wasn't there? Ryder... Evangeline thought to herself silently. She considered telling Aeron, just to rub Istoth's most powerful shapeshifter into his face, but she didn't have the chance to. To her great displeasure, Aeron picked her up like a rag doll, carrying her of the burning tent. He wasn't exactly gentle, and she felt a pull of pain in her stomach as he did so, but she didn't wince or show any weakness, despite the fact that the prince already knew she was very weak indeed.
Still, even though Aeron had already carried her to general safety, Evangeline couldn't help but reply to his comment about possibly leaving her to die. She knew that he wouldn't be able to. He couldn't. A slightly mocking tone in her voice, Evangeline replied evenly, "You won't leave me to die. You can't. I'm a valuable hostage, aren't I? Princess of the enemy kingdom... I imagine you'd attempt to use me for a ransom, or perhaps just to let your greatest enemies drown in embarrassment. If you kept me hostage, that is. If you killed me, on the other hand, well, there'd be a great big war, wouldn't there? Bigger than the current one," It was a bit stressful, thinking that her short life was the thing barely keeping the war in balance, and that was with an emphasis on barely. Prince Aeron, as well. If either of them were killed, their kingdoms were only fight harder to avenge their deaths, leading to more needless bloodshed and carnage. If either of them were taken hostage, as she was right now, their kingdoms would do anything to get them back. And that worried Evan very much. Her parents didn't know she had come to war. No one had, until now. And of course, the person who had discovered her was one of her family's biggest enemies. Great. Just, great.
Glancing around, Evangeline saw a lot of fire. Burning trees and tents, including the one she was just in, and a great black dragon, humongous in size. Ryder, Evan recognized the shapeshifter's beast form. For some reason, she felt guilty, even though she shouldn't. Better to win the war, right? But, still, glancing at the prince's furious gaze made her struggle internally, wriggling around uncomfortably a little bit. She understood his feeling. If Seulghem used a mysterious secret dragon and ransacked the battlefield, she wouldn't be very happy at all either. And besides, other motives aside, the prince had saved her life (nearly killing her with his warhorse as well, but ignoring that as well), and that had to count for something, right?
Looking around worriedly to make sure no one was listening, Evangeline sighed and attempted to stand up, but failed. She hadn't realized her ribs were broken that badly, but obviously they were causing some internal disturbance in her body, or else she'd at least be able to stand. She really didn't know what to do. She'd never had such serious injuries before. Instead, because Evangeline couldn't get closer to the prince, she reached out hesitantly, grabbing a piece of armor and tugging it as powerfully as she could in her current state, which was very weak indeed.
As soon as he got close enough to her, Evangeline rolled her eyes, knowing that she really shouldn't be revealing such a powerful secret of her kingdom, and that her parents would have her head for this, but it didn't matter. After all, Ryder had already changed, and she probably wouldn't be able to keep her form up for very long. The secret was already out, as far as Evangeline was concerned. And for some odd, crazy reason, she figured that the prince at least deserved to know a little bit, considering it was his entire army of loyal men in danger. "I'm not supposed to say this," Duh, she thought rather miserably to herself, "but we have a shapeshifter. I'm sure you have at least one with you today, just maybe not a dragon. That's the beast setting fire to the battlefield, Pike." Damn it. Had she just called him "Pike," by accident? Her dream was really messing with her head. Whenever she looked at the prince, all she saw was that idiotic pike half-helm and those arrogant blue eyes. She felt a faint blush rise to her neck and cheeks, but she ignored the sensation, hoping it wouldn't show. Her face was probably already red from stress and pain, so maybe he wouldn't notice. Either way, she had to say something else to distract her from her embarrassing slip. Glancing down at herself, she noticed her armor was gone. Of course. So that was what he had been fiddling with when she had woken up those two times in the tent. She wondered if he had been about to take her tunic off. Probably.
Well, if someone's going to do it, it might as well be me, the princess thought rather unpleasantly to herself, taking the hem of her tunic and rolling it up, revealing just her battered stomach and no more than that. At least some of her decency would be preserved. Some.
Her stomach looked about as bad as it felt. Weirdly distorted, it was entirely black and blue, with some highly unappealing stripes of yellow. Mottled bruises on her entire body, as well as heavy streaks of red that may or may not have been blood. Her vision was going blurry, looking at her extensive injuries. Evangeline fought to stay awake, refusing to faint from looking at her own body, even if it was disgustingly battered. There was a very dark bruise, almost black in appearance, that grabbed her attention. It was vaguely hoof-shaped, leaving her to glare accusingly at Prince Aeron. Not only that, but there was irregular swelling, mostly on the sides of her abdomen, but that was of course from the very broken ribs.
"Liking your handiwork?" was all Evangeline could say before letting the tunic fall, lying back down rather roughly because she was too weak to stay sitting up.

She's a female elf, my lord. She's your hostage now.
format © vita.anima
Leonidas nearly panicked when she woke up. He had talked to her because he had thought she was unconscious, not because he had actually wanted to talk to her while she was awake and listening. He probably said something very embarrassing.
Blinking, Leo didn't have the time to ask her what exactly she had heard before he was tackled to the ground. Not expecting it, he allowed it to happen, also because he wanted to be gentle with the heavily injured elf and didn't want to hurt her any more than he already did. It wasn't as if it hurt. She wasn't nearly strong enough to defend herself properly, although Leonidas was pretty sure she could beat him to the dust in her proper state.
While the elf attempted to run away, Leonidas surveyed the damage, knowing he could easily catch up. The fire was spreading, and as he observed the elf, he noticed that the fire was spreading indeed... right towards her. Feeling the familiar rush of panic in his throat again, Leonidas chased after the elf, catching up rather easily considering her current state, but looking at the fire, there was absolutely no way he'd be able to outrun it. It seemed as if the pond wasn't as safe as the elf had thought, and the flames were licking hungrily at him, chasing him, in a way. Sighing, Leo knew he didn't really have a choice. Maybe alone, without a burden, he might have a chance to escape, but carrying another body? No way. He was strong, but not even he could outrun a blazing forest fire with such a heavy burden.
Kneeling to the ground next to the elf, he watched her carefully, meeting her gaze. He was still considering, but only for a brief moment. After she shouted out his name, "Leonidas," he knew she had pretty much decided for him. Hands and knees on the ground, Leonidas began to change into his dire wolf form. In his beast form, the shapeshifter would be the size of a small horse, able to carry a human on his broad back like a really furry steed. Snout forming, teeth and claws extending, shaggy, dark brown fur the same color as his curly hair spread all over his body, until he had completed shifting and was now a considerably large dire wolf.
Growling softly, Leonidas swiftly ducked underneath the elf so that she fell on top of him. Hoping she had enough of her senses left to hold on for dear life, Leonidas began to run much faster and much steadier than any human could, away from the fire and away from safety.

Leonidas spotted his prince. He knew he couldn't let Prince Aeron know that he had revealed his abilities to the enemy, and to save her life, on top of that, so he transformed back into a human, now dressed in fur armor instead of his leather. No matter how hard he tried, Leonidas always kept a part of his dire wolf form, and that always happened to be his clothes turning into wolf furs. Hopefully the prince wouldn't notice, but of course Aeron would know the regular armor for a foot soldier. Maybe he could convince him that Leo had changed to kill enemy soldiers, not to save the life of this elf.
Picking up the female elf, not trusting her to walk without hurting herself, Leonidas carried her gently over to the prince, making sure not to jostle her or anything else that might cause her pain. Reaching the prince quickly enough, Leonidas set the elf down, taking in his surroundings. Burning healing tent, Prince Aeron standing over an injured girl... wait, what? Prince Aeron captured the princess of Istoth? She's in battle? All these confused thoughts, Leonidas pushed to the side. Instead, he kneeled, bowing his head as a sign of respect to the king. Glancing at the female elf, Leo said hesitantly, "Apologies for disturbing you, my lord, but I found this female elf injured. She wasn't dead yet, so I thought she would make a decent hostage, considering her role as captain of the guard. Not the mention, she's an elf, worth a sight more than a regular human." Leonidas knew enough to hold his tongue about the captured princess, making sure not to even look at her, instead keeping his blue-green eyes trained on Prince Aeron, waiting for a response.

He rushed towards the group and did not see the young blonde rushing past him. He only knew of her presence when he did not reach the group of green-looking Istoth soldiers and instead felt his backside slipping on the leather of his saddle. The black beast he was riding astride on reared up and Alvere pulled harshly on the reins, trying to force the stallion back onto all fours. But the jolting movement only set him slipping sideways too, and he fell from the horse, reins falling from his grip. The Guard rolled the best he could to protect his head and his hat fell off as he did so, but there was no time to pick it back up. Instead Alvere did the best he could and got to his feet, sword held steady although his arm ached where it had thudded against the ground. The soldiers hadn't moved; they were staring behind him.

Jet, obviously spooked by the commotion, began to shift rapidly from one foot to the next, eyes wide and head shaking violently. But Alvere ignored his stead, turning his head slowly to set his dark gaze upon the young woman. She was shorter than himself, with matted blonde hair and green eyes. He as surprised to see her lean frame holding up a longsword with ease. Stepping forwards, he extended a hand and beckoned her forwards with the curling of his fingers. She was little more than a child, fighting in an adult's war. "Come on then."

The young girl watched as the man fell from his horse. She had succeeded in that, but still had yet to flee the battle. She needed to defeat this man, take his horse, and then she would consider her feat in the battle as a whole successfully done. Elizabeth couldn't help but study the man's reaction when he saw whom had taken him down from his horse. A small, very small, smile appeared, but only for a split second; she had no time for emotions.

Sheathing her knife, she returned both hands to her sword. Charging at him, she kept the blade close to her, and swung at his blade. His blade, not the man himself. She had enough blood on her hands as is, and his life was just as important as her's, as well as all the other lives she had taken. She could spare just one.

Pʀɪɴᴄᴇ Aᴇʀᴏɴ ᴏғ Sᴇᴜʟɢʜᴇᴍ
Currently;; With the Hostages | Tagged;; Evangeline, Leonidas, Beinethiel

Evangeline was clever, Aeron had to admit. She knew she couldn't be killed without consequences. That posed a problem to Aeron; any deaths threats he made to her would be seen exactly as they were. Empty. He had no inclination to tell her what his plans were for her. Admittedly, he hadn't really thought about it much himself, yet he had some ideas. One of the most appealing to him would be a straight out swap; The King of Istoth in return for The Princess. In the end, Evangeline would be returned to her Mother, safe. The King of Istoth would be minus a head. With the King dead, morale and support amongst the Istoth people would hit an all-time low, allowing Seulghem to ride in and claim the throne. Well, that's how he fantasized the situation playing out at least.

Aeron raised his eyebrows as the Princess attempted to stand, resisting the urge to catch and steady her as her attempt failed. She reached out, fingers grasping part of his armour, and tugged. The pull was weak, yet it was enough to catch Aeron off guard, forcing him to take a step forward. He was stood so close he had to turn his head slightly to avoid hitting her with the iron pike's jaws when he looked at her. I'm not supposed to say this, but we have a shapeshifter. I'm sure you have at least one with you today, just maybe not a dragon. That's the beast setting fire to the battlefield, Pike. A small smile played on Aeron's lips, that was a conclusion he'd already came to himself. What did surprise him was the fact that Istoth had kept their secret weapon secret for so long. Wait...Pike? Did she just call him 'Pike' or Prince? He could have sworn it was Pike. Hang on, was that a blush? Aeron desperately tried to suppress his smirk; good to know that even when he had an ugly fish for a head he could still make ladies blush.

Aeron stood up tall again, watching as Evangeline rolled up her tunic. He made no attempt to avert his eyes. When she revealed her stomach his eyes widened; and even he couldn't mask the guilt written all over his face. The thing was repulsive and looked agonisingly painful. It almost made him feel sorry for all the other footsoldiers he had successfully trampoled to death today. Liking your handiwork? Aeron's eyes were still fixed on the bruising on her stomach. Her ribcage looked pummelled. As her tunic fell back down, he raised his eyes to look back at her face. His immediate response was to say something callous or mocking however when he opened his mouth all he managed was an, "Ugh...." Feeling the response was uncharateristly pathetic and unable to shake the feeling of guilt, he turned away from her and reached up, removing his helmet. He needed to think and the damned iron fish-head was suffocating him. His brown hair was dishevelled, and matted along the browline with sweat. He traced his thumb over his jawline, thinking. A few days growth of stubble cover his jaw, casting a shadow.

Aeron turned back around, dropping his half-helm onto the grass next to the Princess. His eyes flickered over to where the healers stood. As if sensing his gaze, the healer from before turned and scurried over; offering the prince a small handfull of leaves, before turning and scurrying away to treat another soldier. Crouching back down, Aeron offered the herbs to Evangeline, placing them in her hand, "Bitters." he stated. The herb resembled watercress, and was commonly found on the edges of the Black Lake. It was used by the healers as a strong pain relief and anti-inlammatory. It got the name 'Bitters' from it's potent bitter taste, "Put it in your mouth and chew. I swear they're only 90% poisonous." Sensing that last comment had come out more serious than he intended, Aeron took a pinch back from her palm and put them in his mouth. He began to chew, shrivelling his nose at the potent bitterness before swallowing, "See. Fine." He stood up again.

Apologies for disturbing you, my lord, but I found this female elf injured. She wasn't dead yet, so I thought she would make a decent hostage, considering her role as captain of the guard. Not the mention, she's an elf, worth a sight more than a regular human. Aeron's head turned, his interest well and truly piqued. His blue eyes glanced down, taking in the elf, before quickly flickering up onto the footsoldier. He couldn't place the man's name, though he had seen him training before. The Seulghem army was vast; he couldn't remember each individual soldier. Aeron's eye's had lit up, his wide grin equally arrogant and menacing. The Prince strode forward, giving Leonidas a hearty slap on the soldier, "You've done very well Soldier. I shall make sure you are very well rewarded." Captain Beinethiel was an impressive prize. A promotion of rank would definately serve, but for now, Aeron turned his attention back onto the elf. The infamous captain of the Istoth army; a thorn in Seulghem's side for so long. He crouched down infront of her, narrowing his eyes. His face was cold, and his voice was deeper; more like a growl, "Do you know how long I've waited to capture you, Captain?" he snorted, his tone mocking "How many good men have died whilst you led your band of savages in countless battles?! The blood lies on your hands!" His voice had raised, almost nearing a shout. Aeron took a deep breath, a cold-hearted smirk spreading over his face. He spoke again, reining in his voice; adding undertones of a promised threat, "You will enjoy your stay in Seulghem. I'll make sure of that."

She responded to his words, the foolish little minx. Her sword swung upwards in preparation to bear down upon him and the Seulghem Royal Guard let his weight sink downwards to his knees bent and his center of gravity shifted. He saw her eyes glanced at his own sword arm and a smirk wormed it's way onto his face. She was going to be soft - she wasn't even going to try, against a Royal Guard of her kingdom's enemy! If he could have done, he would have snorted at her insolence and laughed in her face.

But what a pretty little thing she was. She may have been little more than a child, but she was just about a woman, someone who could look after herself. She seemed to be like the fire that burned in the forest and was not toppling one of the healing tents that had been hastily erected for the wounded. She drew closer and all his vision was fixed upon her. He didn't hear the screams of the men who were hit with Jet's hooves for coming too close. Once she was close enough, Alvere swung his own sword and let the tip of the blade whistle as it sped towards he woman's stomach.

Oh, what luck it was for her to be so aware of every movement around her, like a feline on the prowl or a hawk soaring the skies. If she had not notice his sudden change of attack, she would've still aimed for where his sword had been. Quickly, however, Elizabeth twisted her arms around, slamming her sword into his with force greater than you would've expected from someone her size. If she hadn't been wearing a bishop sleeved blouse, you would've seen the toned muscles on her arms.

Elizabeth had, though, been a bit to slow. While she had stopped his sword from causing her any serious infliction upon her vital organs, she hadn't stopped his sword from cutting at her leather corset. A sharp sting of pain became present in her side, and she saw that his blade had gone through the leather in its entirety and had left a somewhat deep cut. Sighing, the girl rolled her eyes. "I was planning on sparing your life, but like all men I have fought, you have succeeded to persuade me otherwise," she told him in an disturbingly matured voice, that, in modern times, could be recognized in having a bit of a British accent. Ignoring the pain in her side, Elizabeth pushed back his blade with her sword, and delivered a kick towards his own gut.
