Ash breathed a small sigh of relief that Alex had agreed to stop. He didn't want Alex to overexert himself or anything, as Ash didn't have the medical skills to help if something bad happened.

He glanced around as well, but also couldn't see anywhere shady. There didn't really seem to be anywhere they could rest, either. Perhaps it would be best if they just stayed where they were, as there didn't seem to be any better options. "I don't see anywhere where we can rest. Maybe we should just sit down right here?" He suggested.

Alex nodded, "yeah let's do that" he agreed. There really was no other choice for them, and walking to the mountains had to be worse. He carefully and slowly moved to sit down on the ground with his legs outstretched in front of him. He let out a small huff of air after he was sitting down, his back straight to make sure he wasn't causing himself more pain. This had to be better for him instead of walking.

The hot was ground but nothing he couldn't handle. Alex was just about dead, the fish in him was begging for even the smallest drop of water. And, well, his ribs could be better as well. He didn't want to go into the lab willing like he did in the forest, who knows if it's different staff, or domestics who aren't as nice and lenient. Alex then looked over at Ash and asked "How y-you feeling?" he moved his arms behind him on the ground so he could lean back a little bit, keeping his back straight still.

Ash sat down across from Alex, also laying his legs out in front of him. It was a welcome relief to get his soft, sensitive paws off the hot sand, although the stiflingly dry air around them was really no better. Hopefully, it would get cooler as night fell. He shaded his face with his hand/paw, worrying that he was getting sunburnt. He was naturally more susceptible to sunburn, and it would be insanely lucky if he wasn't nearly red from burns by the end of the day.

At Alex's question, Ash looked up at him and said, "...I guess I'm okay. At least I don't have to stand on this sand anymore." He didn't want to say too much, afraid that it would seem as though he was self-pitying or something of the like. "How're you holding up?"

Zach walked a very short distance before he came to a standstill. "Oh what even is the point. I'm going to die out here before I find any source of water, food or even some sort of shadows." He moaned gently, grogginess and warmth beginning to overwhelm the teen. The young hybrid gently fell to his knees in annoyance. "This is stupid. How would I have got here anyway? Who brought me here?!" He brushed his hands through his hands - a habit he developed a few years ago that he usually did whilst annoyed or stressed.

((OOC: I think I might let someone find Zach before carrying on... I think I'd be fun for me to see how he interacts with human contact for the first time! Also I have no clue how to get him to bump into anyone heh heh...))

"I could b-be better" Alex answered. He moved his hands off the ground and instead leaned back so he was now laying on his back. He moved his left arm up to cover his eyes from the blazing sun. "Why w-would they move u-us?" he mumbled to himself, rather disappointed that he was moved out of the forest. He loved the forest, and his cozy little home. The snow in the winter and the pretty trees and birds. But here, it was horrific.

The scientists had to know that these fish hybrids couldn't make it out here, did they want him to die. He breathed out softly and shook his head. He needs to think positively.

Ash stayed sitting up at first, occasionally glancing up to see if anyone was coming. At Alex's question, however, he shrugged and lay down on his stomach, propping his head up with his hand-paw and taking care to keep his claws away from his eye. "I wish I knew..." He murmured in response. With his other paw, he attempted to pick up a little twig so as to drag it through the sand, but couldn't figure out how to grip his bearish fingers around it without his claws getting in the way and soon gave up with a sigh. He then crossed his arms in front of him and rested his chin on them, staring at the ground in front of him.

Zach lifted his head gently after his short moment of infuriation. He squinted gently, struggling to see properly in the intense glare of the sun. Is that life or am I hallucinating two blobs moving in the distance? Making his way to his feet, Zach warily questioned how friendly these humans were. "Oh they'll be fine... But what if they're cannibals and want to eat me? No - they won't hurt you... Wait... What if they're the people who brought me here?" While he would have liked to see why they were there - it soon became quite apparent when he took a few anxious steps forward to get a closer look that they too didn't seem to enjoy the desert - his instinct told him not to interact because who knows who they are or what they're doing.

Alex stayed silent as he laid on the ground, trying his best to control his breathing due to his ribs. His ears twitched as they listened to the slight breeze move sand and a few pebbles across the hot ground. He then picked up on something moving towards them, most likely an animal or another hybrid. Although and animal wouldn't get close to them, or have such delayed steps.

His nose then picked up a familiar scent, deer. Since he had hunted them in the forest and slept with their pelts it came to be a rather familiar and comforting smell. And he doubted deer would be spotted in the desert. "W-Who's there?" he sorta hissed, loud enough for the stranger to hear. He moved his left arm from his eyes and turned his head to the side in the direction where the sound was coming from.

Zach fearfully took a few steps back at the faintly hissed words. After a few seconds of attempting to reassure himself he was okay, and they were probably just as surprised to see him as he was them, he took a few more shy steps forward. "Z...Zachary...B..Barrett.. Zachary Barrett." He stuttered, his quiet voice hardly audible from the distance he was away from whoever it was. Anxiously, he stepped forward once more, his heart pounding in his chest. They know you're here. They could do anything with you. They could kill you.

Alex watched the figure carefully. He then shut his eyes and moved his head forward again and moved his arm over his eyes. "No n-need in s-sneaking around" he told the hybrid, his words coming out slower. He tried his best to control his breathing due to his ribs but nothing seemed to help. The pain was unbearable.

He let out a soft breath, and clenched his left hand into a fist. "I suggest y-you go find water, and a p-place to sleep for the n-night" he told Jacob, his voice soft and slow. He could tell he was new, his name wasn't familiar nor his scent. and he seemed scared and shocked. Everyone knew Alex was pretty nice and definitely wouldn't hurt anyone unless threatened.
