Espy eyed the note on the fridge, pulled open the fridge, grabbed up a block of cheese, crossed to the counter and got a knife and headed back upstairs. She was extra careful to make sure that she closed and locked the secret passage and waited inside of the custodial door listening for patrons or passersby. She opened the door slightly, peering out into the dimly lit club. She saw a few customers sitting about and staff, and watched as a man burst through the door with a small girl in his arms. She was shocked by both his demeanor and the following events. Stasi, Rusty, and a woman she didn't know disappeared behind a closed door with the girl, presumably the office, and the patrons were all watching the situation with obvious interest.
How on Earth am I supposed to get over there without being noticed? Stupid green skin! Ugh.
She watched the traffic of the club for a moment before closing the door to the custodian's closet again. She sat on the floor with her back pressed to the door looking around her trying to come up with a solution. She found a bandana on the shelf and wrapped it over her nose, mouth, and chin. An old pair of coveralls was folded in the corner and she shimmied into them, thankfully too big which would cover her wings. Her hair was dry now so she let it fall over her face, and grabbed a bottle of dark furniture oil and rubbed it haphazardly over her face and hands. She ran back down to the bathroom and looked herself over in the mirror.
Hmm, better but it needs more.
Back up in the closet she got some more oil and smudged it on her ears and throat, then coated her hands in gray spray paint and rubbed it over the oil and into her hair and clothes here and there. She pulled the mop bucket out of the corner, dropped the mop into it and pulled a cap off the hook on the door. Pulling it onto her head, opened the door wide and wheeled the mop bucket to the hall area outside Rusty's office. She knocked on the door, pushed it open and said loudly, "I got that shelving unit done, boss. I'm bout to start on the bathrooms unless there's something else you need."
