Chelsea returned Elric's chuckle with a faint smile of her own, he seemed quite friendly, something she certainly wasn't used to, or was expecting, from humans. When she was asked if she wished to join the knights for something to eat she looked away a little nervous, she knew that Elric wasn't really telling the truth when he said that they'd 'love to get to know her' most were probably vehemently against her kind. Still she had to admit that it would be interesting to see what would come of her joining the knights for a meal, she was torn, both intrigued and wanting to go along with Elric but at the same time still wary and nervous of the knights.

Finally she answered Elric, "I think we both know that that's not true, most of these knights would rather the war rage on than make a treaty with us 'monsters'." She said to him her tone plain and flat. She sighed, "However I can't say that I wouldn't mind a little something to eat, besides I'd be interested to see what they think of having a dragon along side them, and a female dragon at that. I expect that their reactions would be quite amusing." She said to him grinning at the last thought, she knew that there would be others there like Elric who shared his view on dragons and the treaty and she looked forward to meeting more of them. She was feeling quite glad that the first person she had really talked to in this city, who wasn't some form of official, was friendly towards her species, it made her opinion of the place slightly better.

If possible, Elric's grin grew wider at that. With a small dip of his head, he gestured for Chelsea to walk with him. "I think I'll have to agree. Though if you ask me, if these men can't be glad to put an end to death and tragedy, I hesitate to call them real men." He said as they approached the hall. He knew he was no saint in the matter either, ever on the ready to draw his sword if need be, but that was honour and loyalty, not hatred born of spite. He was sure Chelsea was willing to do just the same if it came down to it. If anything it gladdened him to know that fealty was something cherished on both sides.

Elric opened the door for Chelsea to enter first, and followed leisurely behind. Heads turned, of course, and through he met each pair of eyes with a daring gaze of his own it did little to stop the whispers from starting up again. Fortunately, a certain table he was well familiar with had only paused in their avid conversation to acknowledge the door opening, and had gone right back to their carefree, boisterous laughter not a moment later. He smiled as he approached the four, making sure to keep pace with Chelsea so she didn't feel too out of place. He offered the seat near the end, taking the one across from it himself. The food was spread about across the middle of the table on plates that they could pick at; there didn't seem to be much left and Elric regretted letting this lot have the first pickings from it.

"Whatever is so funny? Sture finally tell you about the heart-shaped birthmark on his arse?" The knight inquired, reaching for a large biscuit and some bacon to sandwich in it.

"You have a heart-shaped birthmark on your arse?" Larkin asked incredulously through the laughter. Elric rose a hand to deflect the grape aimed at his head.

"If you must know, we were musing about Commander Wilmont's little lady." Rowan said. "But now I'm far more interested in your little lady, Elric." The man leaned on his hand to peer over at Chelsea. Elric gave an abashed smile.

"Unfortunately, I'm not quite lucky enough to call her mine." He said with a light yet apologetic look at the dragoness. "May I introduce Chelsea the dragoness." He inclined his head to her again respectfully, and the knights all offered their own kind greetings.

{ Crap, I just realized Elric hadn't introduced himself in that last reply DX Forgive me, it slipped my mind. Also, Speak, do you mind that I roleplay the other knights as well, if only in this instance? }

Dareos Peine Letington

Always being the earlier riser Dareos was already up and ready to start the day. However, this day was different, he was typically the rather jolly sort, but on this particular morning he was feeling nervous. Everything had seemed to happen so fast. Now he was betrothed to a dragon lady he had never even met, for all he knew she could be crazy! What if she tried to kill him in his sleep? She could incinerate him, oh what an awful way to go! To feel the pain of his flesh burning, running through the halls ablaze with pale embers licking the air around him. Just seeking a faster, less painful destruction. Perhaps then he would simply fling himself over his balcony. This was his duty as the prince, and he had agreed to it. He could only imagine what was to come for him, he couldn't actually predict the future. Who knew? Perhaps they could end up having a happy life togetger? Maybe they would even fall in love, but even if they didn't that didn't mean they couldn't find some sort of happiness in the situation. They just had to find a way to make it work. What if she hated him? He did not wish for her misery, but this courting was to keep the peace, he didn't have a choice. He sighed to himself as he fixed his clothes a little. The rising sun warm his lightly tanned skin as it illuminated his fair blonde locks making it appear as if he had a halo atop his head. He was no angel though, he had done deeds that he was not proud of, who hadn't? He was staring out the window with curious blue eyes. The world held much wonder for his adventurous spirit. It was a shame he was confined in these walls so, he wished for freedom. In a way he truly envied the dragons for they could fly and take themselves wherever they wanted to go. Of course, he was no doubt over simplifying things.

Suddenly he turned looking at the untouched breakfast the servants had brought to him. He strode carelessly over to his bed and sat on the edge, fingers brushing over the hilt of the sheathed sword his kept beside him when he slept. One never knew when they might need to defend themselves. He ate what he could though his appetite was rather dampened and then he stood. He placed the sword belt around his waist so it rested on his left hip, ready to be drawn in his right end. It was a double edged sword, and not to brag or anything, but he knew how to use it. As he walked to the door to his room he looked down at his feet, hands instinctually reached for the door handles and pulled the large wooden doors open. The hallway was revealed to him, lit with sunlight from the rising source of daylight. He turned to head down the hall his hands caressing the delicate satin fabric of the curtains. He watched out the window, the outside world much more fascinating to him than the world inside. His face was expressionless except for the hint of admiring in his eyes to the beauty of what lay in the outside world. He held a high appreciation towards anything that had to do with nature. Why a prince would think highly of such trivial things was probably a wonder, and he really couldn't place it. It was almost as though it were calling to him. He made his way through the seemingly endless maze that was the castle until he found his way outside. From there he proceeded to enjoy the breeze ruffling through his hair. He uttered a single word as he stood there with his eyes closed.
"Beautiful." To him this was what it was all about, the reason he awoke in the morning. To see and feel the beauty the world had to offer.

He had quite a poetic heart and mind when it came to life and the world around him. He tended to see things from an artistic stand point though he was no artist. He could read, and write, not to mention play lovely music, but he could not paint or anything of that like. Nor did he really wish to try for he would never be able to properly capture anything. To silently admire seemed like the better option for him, and he was perfectly fine living his life like that. He started forwards once more wandering outside without a purpose in mind, just to be outside and enjoy the fresh air. That was his only goal, to enjoy himself.

|| Chelsea Kairen || Female || 23/250 || The Protector || Crush; None || Tagged; Elric Averill ||

Chelsea made sure to note the fact that Elric seemed to smile even brighter when she accepted his offer to have some food with him and his companions. She began to walk alongside him, easily keeping pace with him. When he spoke of those who were unhappy with the treaty and how they weren't real men she simply nodded in reply, her eyes more interested in the area around her, she was quite fascinated with the way they had built everything, even the barracks were quite a bit more grand than many of the places she'd lived in. Dragons didn't really need big castles or grand buildings so this was all quite new to her, she still preferred to sleep outside than trapped in four walls but she had to admit, the comfort was quite nice.

When Elric held the door open for Chelsea she dipped her head at him in thanks with a grateful smile on her face. She noticed that people had turned to look at the two of them entering the room side-by-side and she raised her head, tall and proud, meeting the gazes of those who looked her in the eyes. She heard the whispers start up and gave a small grin, let them talk she thought to herself, if they can't accept dragons, or accept that there is a woman in their hall than they can say it to my face. She continued to walk with Elric sitting down in the seat that he had offered to her, there were four other knights at the table all of whom seemed to be full in conversation and banter.

She gave a wide grin at the teasing that was going on between all of the knights, so it seemed that humans had fun and messed around just as her kind did, they really weren't that different, but still never to be really trusted a small voice whispered in the back of her mind. She pushed the thoughts to the back of her mind, not wanting to remind herself of her own past. She was broken out of her thoughts when she heard one of the knights refer to her and she looked at him smiling as Elric introduced her. She wasn't going to appear hostile to the group, she really felt nothing bad towards them and meant them no ill will. She met Elric's apologetic look with one of her own that told him not to worry about it. She had grown up around men and she was perfectly used to the way that they interacted with each other, especially when a woman was around.

"Hi, and yeah we met like ten minutes ago I doubt he's so smooth that he can woo me in that short period of time." She said to them, glad to hear that their comments were all friendly. She was glad to joke with them, finding that it came naturally with her, she'd had this kind of banter all the time before but never really dreamed of having it with a group of human knights.

Elric simply gave a shrug of agreement at Chelsea's words as the four laughed in good humour.

"I dunno. Ric's pretty popular with the ladies." Larkin said with an obvious lack of truth behind the words. "Then again the women here will jump nearly any man's bones if he'll give 'em a son to put into the Guard. No wonder it's full of halfwit ninnies who couldn't tell bronze from steel if it hit 'em in the balls." 'Which it quite often does,' Elric added silently with a small chuckle.

"What about you, Chelsea?" Sture asked, leaning forward as he swallowed the bacon he was chewing. "You look like a tough one. Do a lot of fightin'?" Elric also raised a curious brow at this, waiting to see what her answer would be. Of course his first impressions were that she had some form of military background or experience, though he wasn't familiar with dragon customs so he couldn't be sure. He certainly wouldn't be surprised if she was a warrior, nor if she could easily fend for herself in battle against any one of these men. He did wonder, though, if she could properly wield a sword. As dragons they were used to their claws as weapons and scales for armour, or so he would assume, and he doubted Chelsea had even really held a sword before. He wondered if she would be interested in learning, if that was the case.

Fayette Draco
*of the Elder Clan*

[ tagged: Sir Jannik Dahl ]

Caught up in her thoughts, Faye didn't hear the man's approach until her spoke up. Turning, she caught and held the garden green eyes. She knew it wasn't really proper; her eyes should always be above her lowers. But she had known Jannik for so long she rarely even thought of him as anything but an equal. Not that she would dare tell her father this. He would be furious. A small, warm smile curved the edges of her lips. Speak of the devil and he shall come. Turning, she faced him. Her skirts swished lightly around her ankles showing black riding boots. She had insisted they ride to the castle. She would not ride in a carriage like sone defenseless human girl. Of course, her father was displeased by this but he had sullenly agreed as he so often did. The stableboys were preparing their horses as they spoke, with a small carriage to carry their things.

"To be completely honest, Jannik, I would much rather crawl back into bed and have this day be over." She admitted with a rueful smile. She never had been able to lie to him... even when she was a little girl. At one point, she had actually told him that his curly hair made him look like a girl. They had been at a ball, one in her honor no less, and a dignitary from a distant clan had been within hearing range. Her father had been horrified, but the man had just chuckled and pointed out that 'kids would be kids'. Reaching up, she tugged at a stray curl uneasily. Jezebel would likely have a heart attack were she here. She firmly believed Faye should look no less than perfect from head to toe. The pattering of footsteps drew her attention. Damien, one of the younger Stableboys, stopped before them. Eyes locked firmly on his feet, he went down on one knee and bowed his head before her the way he had likely been taught since birth.

"Lady Draco, Sir Dahl. Your horses await." The child squeaked, lifting his eyes a fraction before dropping them again.

"You may rise, Damien. Did you prepare Cielo for me?" She asked. Cielo was a young, spirited stallion who often tortured the poor grooms and stableboys by nipping and kicking them whenever possible. Faye was one of the few people the horse allowed upon his back. He was a gorgeous animal with a glossy black pelt, a white blaze on his forehead, white socks on all four legs, and a white mane and tail. He had been an engagement present from Prince Dareos's Family. The child nodded quickly and she smiled her thanks. "That will ne all, thank you." She said. The child nodded again and rose, scurrying off.

mira--portath

the diplomat

[age] twenty|four hundred [dragon] diplomat [ location ] garden [ tagged ] eden

Folding her hands softly in her lap Miras' eyes were void of her thoughts, she could not afford to give more than she needed to the Lady Eden. This game that they now played was one that Mira had adapted to well in the few years at the human court, it seemed that nearly every word out of a noble's mouth had two meanings and in the beginning the second had always been a mystery. Now that time had passed Mira could play the game and play it well. "Yes, I would have to agree. I find the minor characters very interesting, for they have a story to tell too, do they not? For example the beautiful and aloof Rosaline. She plays no part in the story but imagine perhaps she is not the pure creature Romeo thinks her to be, but rather was playing coy to keep his attention. When his love moves elsewhere imagine how she must feel. Devastated and angry at Juliet to be sure. Perhaps even enough to try and harm her in some small way." Lady Eden responded in kind, her pause letting the unsaid meaning sink in.
What Eden said was true, many of the ladies whispered their displeasure of the young prince Dareos being engaged, even more so as his fiancee was a dragon. While she had heard whispers many ladies kept their voices down when she entered a room making it difficult to judge wether it was a few or many who voiced the same opinion, Lady Eden's analogy only making it more prevalent in the diplomats mind.
"Are there any particular characters you're interested in Lady Mira? I always enjoy finding out something I don't already know." The lady asked a smile on her face that one could almost consider sly. At this point it was obvious what would need to happen if Mira wanted to know anything more there would need to be an exchange; information for information. What could she tell her though? She would have to be careful with what she gave away, if it was something too personal it could spell disaster for everyone, especially Fayette. Perhaps though it would be best to speak of her own secrets, no one knew her history or the part she had played in the war and that had always been for the best but she could not betray Jannik or Fayette for such a thing.
"For me I have always been curious about Benvolio, he and Romeo are like brothers but what if he had discovered the reason for Romeo's banishment was in fact the fault of the daughter of their enemy? Would this only enforce his hatred of the family? Or perhaps would Romeo's love for Juliet help Benvolio see that the two houses were not so different." Mira said thoughtfully, "My favourite character though would have to be The Prince of Verona, a peace keeper of sorts between the two families desperate for peace, but what do you think he did in the past? Something could have happened during this conflict that made him so driven for peace." her words were selected carefully, if this intrigued Lady Eden then there was hope she could gain a new informant.

sure that’s fine dementdraven, I don’t mind when people roleplay secondary characters like that}}

|| Chelsea Kairen || Female || 23/250 || The Protector || Crush; None || Tagged; Elric Averill ||

Chelsea gave a light chuckle at the words of the men, glad that nothing bad had been said about her being a dragon. She picked up a bread roll and bit into it, she'd eaten something already but she was still hungry and decided to try and sate her her hunger even more. She looked up at one of the men who asked her if she had done a lot of fighting in her time. At first she just shrugged before replying to them, "Yeah, I've done plenty of fighting in my time, in my species it's quite normal for the females to learn how to fight as well, what with there being so few of us, everyone needs to be able to fight for themselves." She replied, being careful with her words, these men had fought with her species before, she didn't really want to say anything that might offend them.

She herself didn't want to begin to trust them, no, it would take her a long time to get to that level of comfortableness. She had grown up being taught to fear humans and the one time that she ignored that she paid with the lives of those that she'd loved and she had no intention of making that mistake again. She knew however, that she must try to trust them for the sake of her people, as much as she hoped that this treaty, this mating of the two peoples, would lead to peace, she herself wasn't sure that it was that safe of a deal. She had heard tales of how the elder prince hated the dragons with a vengeance, though to be fair these were just rumours from within the town. She sighed silently, trying to shake off the darker thoughts, she didn't want to appear too troubled in front of these knights who had welcomed her with such, well, welcome!

She then spoke again, "I personally like fighting with tooth and claw but I can fight equally as well with a sword as I can with my own weapons, though I prefer long knives to a full blown swords as they allow for quicker and swifter movement." She told them, deciding to expand on how she preferred to fight. "What about you guys? Got any interesting or funny stories?" She asked them. She could feel a few glares burning into her from the other people around them and was doing her best to ignore them although she was rather visibly uncomfortable. She didn't want to leave and she didn't want to be driven out by the hostility of a few when there were many who were being, at least civilized towards her.

Politics, Eden had learned, was all about the subtle question of body language not just the spoken words. It was about recognizing the changes of the tiny lines around the mouth and eyes, the slant of the brow, the slump of shoulders, the position of the arms, the way the person stood. For someone who was aware of this, the body could be read like an open book. The body was the unconsciousness movement of thoughts. It showed the truth of what a person believed, unless the person was a truly exceptional lier and such people came few and far between.

Eden had met few people she could not read and while Mira was not one of those people, the lady was surprised at how well she played the game. It was a delicate dance, yet the dragon moved with grace even some nobles who had lived their whole lives at court possessed not. Her estimation of the woman rose and with it her desire to help the dragon diplomat. Here was a woman who could aptly use the knowledge she was willing to impart.

"The Prince of Verona is indeed an interesting character. What his past was perhaps I could guess, but rather I would impart a warning to him. The Prince in the story leaves punishment too late and many of the characters end up dying because of his laxed efforts. To uphold the law sometimes one must stop threats before they even become such instead of waiting for them to happen first." Eden said with a meaningful look at Mira. There was a fine line between keeping peace and stopping a tragedy.

If their two sides were not careful, that was exactly what this attempt at peace could turn into.

The grave look dispersed as a pleasant smile slid back over the noble's face and she turned to look ahead into the garden, eyes bouncing over the budding flowers.

"Benvolio, now there's an interesting character. Practically Romeo's brother and yet so different in character from the love struck young man, he is about as unromantic as a man can be. Yet, he is intensely loyal to Romeo. I would think, though I must admit I do not know for sure, that he would act rashly against Juliet in anger at his friend's banishment rather than in understanding. Loyalty overcomes the desire for peace."

It was true, there were a few opinions she had not heard straight from the horse's mouth as the saying went, but on most she could guess them. From what she knew of the person to which Mira was drawing a parallel for Benvolio, he would not be open to welcoming any of the dragons into the family.

Her gaze wandered away from the flowers as a voice floated close on the wind, landing on the form of their proverbial Romeo.

"O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?
Deny thy father and refuse
thy name;or if thou wilt not, be
but sworn my love and I’ll no longer
be a Capulet."

Chuckling softly, Eden cast a polite glance at Mira before rising to call the younger Prince over to join them. Perhaps finding out his opinion on the matter would be fun.

"My lord Dareos." She called, allowing her voice to float over to him as she executed a perfect curtsy.

Ja n n i k D a h l ⇉ [post two]

Postby herald. » Mon Nov 10, 2014 2:50 pm

J a n n i k♠♠D a h lgender: male | age: twenty two/four hundred and sixty-three | Clan: The Dahl | persona: The Guard
♠♠Glory ikke vente. Glory does not wait.”♠'' tagged: Fayette | location: the Elder Clan mansion

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

      ♠♠♠♠♠♠♠♠He shouldn't have expected anything less, were he being honest with himself. The Princess had little need for courtesies when it came down to the pair of them, and with the household stuff milling about as wildly as they were, he doubted that even a curious maid with an addiction to gossip would take notice of the eye contact and bolt to go inform the Elder Clan's monarch or one of the mansion's tutors of the informality. Thus, as Faye locked her cerulean eyes on his, Jannik could only find himself tilting his head the slightest (he was at least a head taller then her) and giving a small smile back. A quick glance downwards as she twirled to face him revealed another little surprise he should have known better to see coming: they would be riding to town on horseback. Of course we are. Faye isn't a dainty little prize that they can package up all neat like in a colorful carriage, ready to be escorted with the greatest of care to a single destination. No dragon should accept such a shameful fate. A twinge of pride sparked in his chest at the realization. The humans would continue to mingle with their own kind for the betterment of the two species, clearly, but still there would be differences in cultures and customs that would remain no matter the decades. And dragons were nothing if not self-sufficient.

      ♠♠♠♠♠♠♠♠His smile turned all the more sympathetic as the words left the dragon princess's mouth and bled into the surrounding air. It was no large secret that the marriage wasn't something she was looking forward to, but Faye was still responsible enough to agree without much persuasion needed. She truly would have made a fine leader one day, were she not being whisked away to live her life among the humans, Jannik thought regretfully. At least there would always be the memories that each of pair would always be able to keep a hold of and reflect on. "I'm sure this day will be over soon enough, My Lady. I can say with a fair amount of confidence that I believe all the introductions will seep away most of the daylight, and they themselves will likely make the time appear as if flying by you," he stated reassuringly with a deep, caring voice just before one of the stableboys popped up to present news of their transport. As to be expected, the boy went down on one of his knees in the presence of his superior before opening to mouth to speak of what he came for in a squeaky voice, too nervous and high-pitched to be casual.

      ♠♠♠♠♠♠♠♠The guard member remained respectfully silent, watching the boy with a careful gaze as he affirmed Fayette's question about her steed, Cielo. Despite being an engagement gift from her soon to be husband, the horse was still an undoubtedly beautiful creature. Even Jannik, who was only interested in the species as something useful to get around on while in his human form, couldn't deny that the elegant stallion was truly a thing of majesty - even if his attitude was not nearly so pretty to be around. As the poor lad scrambled away after being thanked for his service, the dragon turned so that he was once again facing the princess. "I suppose we should head out, then. It wouldn't bode well to arrive late, and I'm sure Cielo is itching to go out for a ride," he commented with another head tilt, giving a last smile that he hoped would help keep the atmosphere light even as they prepared to go to the castle. Facing the direction that led to the outside gate now, Jannik took the lead as he made for the exterior of the Elder Clan's mansion, where their horses would be awaiting them alongside a carriage to bring over Faye's possessions.

      ♠♠♠♠♠♠♠♠As his eyes took a moment to adjust to the harshness of the sunlight outside the mansion, the blond located their travel companions - both the horses, and the servants who would be responsible for delivering the carriage safely to the human compound. He gave a sideways glance towards Faye as he mounted his own horse, a lovely chestnut bay mare that he frequently used named Karin, suddenly getting an idea. Everything was set in place and ready to go, all the horses groomed and tacked with the last of Faye's belongings having just been loaded into the carriage's contents. They could leave as soon as they were ready, but a simple trot would be far too dull for what was due to be an exhausting day... It simply wouldn't do to arrive at the castle in a brooding mood caused by having too much time to think during the process of coming there. With that thought in mind, the older dragon's tone took on an uncommonly challenging quality with an undertone of humor as he called out: "I wonder, Lady Faye," sticking with formalities while there were still other people in their vicinity, "if it would be in the interest of one so noble to accept a humble challenge from one who has served you so faithfully for all these years." The grin that broke out on his features was truly a rare sight to be seen as he waited a moment to see if Faye had the (rather cute, although he would have to eventually force himself to stop thinking of it as such as they settled in with the humans) small look of curiosity on her face that gave away when she was interested in a proposal before continuing. "Thus, I have a small favor to ask of you. I know of a large, gnarled oak tree that stands a little less than a quarter mile from where the human capitol Asiali begins," he said, adjusting his grip on Karin's reigns as he spoke. "I request, My Lady, that you honor me with a race to that exact marker. Only in the best interest of arriving on time, of course," he finished tacking the last sentence on so that, of nothing else, a somewhat believable excuse could be used.
