Eva Deichmann
bisexual | experimental | 45% Peary caribou | domestic | Bae, Emelyn, & L

Eva perked up a bit as the scientist motioned for her to come over, and quickly trotted over to see what she needed. She listened quietly and nodded as she told her what to do and handed her the note. "Right, I'll take it to her right awa-" She was cut off by L, who rather rudely inserted herself into the conversation. Eva, being the sensitive thing she was, lowered her ears and glanced from the scientist to L, both shocked by the other domestic's rudeness and scared she might attack Emelyn. If a fight did break out, she didn't want to be caught in the middle of it. "I'll, um, just be g-going now..." She murmured, taking a slow step away from the two.

I smiled supportively at Eva, always kinda liking her for her timid news and shy nature. " That would be very helpful, thank you Eva. Now you deliver it before some fight or something breaks out. Oh and Eva I'd like you to have this," I fished in my pocket again and brought out a chocolate wrapped in a aluminium wrapper. I put it in her palm and winked, striding off to collect the equipment needed. I smiled to myself, pleased that I had presented loyal Eva with something.
I've been on like a 6-7 month hiatus..... soooo to all that know me sorry. And Boop! I'm revamping??? Everything??? Idk what you would call it. I've found myself I think, through fan fiction, high school drama and a whole lot of maturing. Have a new room, new sense of humour, yeah. Ready to start helping the world. I think??? Still questioning my messed up life where I'm pretty sure my old cat is my spirit animal, I have a tea addiction (weak and sweet mind you!) and possibly building a author/ artist career??? There's a lot of question marks but that's life.

Always expect more questions than answers and you might just find yourself. xoxo

She hesitated, at first, to see if the other would heed her advice. Those little things were easy to miss if they were hidden in the brush, or they were just practically microscopic. Her tail twitched in mild amusement. She’d be limping a lot more if she wanted to hold her chin up like that, but she shrugged and kept walking, her silver gaze switching between the sand and the outcropping.
“Okay… If you’re sure,” she replied, undoubtedly questioning the hybrid’s nighttime abilities. If she couldn’t see a cactus, how would she navigate their way to a shelter? ‘This is what I’m banking my life on. A blind bird with a little too much fluff in her feathers.’ The thought, again, of striking it out on her own flashed across her subconscious, but was brushed aside. Even if her tour guide was more or less unable to see anything, at least she knew things and could offer answers to whatever madness this was. The domies, the hybrids, the ‘they’- everything. Hopefully.
Her attention was redirected to the cascade of rocks, obvious paths that smaller creatures took by day and night, and then there was the larger creature, feeling each one up before she finally found an opening and stepped over the brush as if it were a cactus as well. Yes, this was definitely worth Zyr’s entire wellbeing.
She followed suit, stepping a little more recklessly over the brush and having to detach a dead strand from her short tail, but- now what did she want?
“--You did say you want me behind you. We might as well get going, it’s only gonna get darker.”

Emily Roberts
bisexual | natural | 21% Steller's jay | group three | Zyr

"Alright, alright," Emily huffed, beginning to pick her way around stones and brush she could barely even see. At this rather slow, cautious pace which was made even worse by her limp, she inched her way up the steep path weaving through the boulders, always keeping at least one hand on one of the sides in case she slipped and so that she could tell where she was going. Every once in awhile, a few loose pebbles would clatter down the path beneath her feet, causing her to pause for a second to retest the ground before continuing.

"Oh, one thing you might wanna do out here is make sure not to stick your feet under any rocks, or bushes, or whatever," she suddenly called to Zyr as they moved along. "I don't know if cats are immune to snakes and tarantulas and scorpions, but I wouldn't take the chance if I were you." She paused for just a moment, hoping a quick halt would add some level of importance to her words, then continued on speaking. "I once knew this one guy- well, didn't really 'know' him, we were acquaintances at best- but, anyway, one night he was out walking around and wasn't being careful, because you'd think all the creepy-crawlies hide away at night, right? It's too cold for them, yeah? Wrong." She stopped speaking again for a moment, once again trying to add an extra touch of drama to her tale. "He ended up stepping right on top of a Mojave green. I actually don't know what happened to him after that, but I haven't seen him since. Maybe they just moved him to another Dome, figured he wasn't cut out for the desert. I'unno."

By the time she'd finished with her story, she had reached what seemed to be the end of the parlous trail. Now standing just below the rocks that crowned the outcrop, she glanced back at Zyr before going around the side of a huge chunk of sandstone into a long yet shallow dip in the rock. Crouching down at the entrance to the "cave" (if it could even be called that), the bird girl opened the weathered pouch at her side and grabbed out some flint shards. "Hey, could you get me some of that dried brush?" She asked over her shoulder to Zyr, eager to start a fire and shed some light on the situation for the both of them.

He tilted his head up slightly and took a large sniff of the wind. There wasn't a lot of wolf in him, but he did get a little bit of a scent boost. It probably was stronger to Chelsea, but he could definitely smell the distinct feline scent. "Yea.." Ryker breathed out, his tail swishing slightly. "Guess that means we're heading in the right direction." He looked back at Chelsea, awaiting to see what she thought.

"Who we are, and who we need to be to survive are two very different things."

When Ryker agreed with her she gave a small smile, at least her own feline nose wasn't getting scents confused. The two were very close now, he wings shuffled slightly at her back. "Yeah, we aren't too far either, good news is that we are down wind of them. I say we keep going. There isn't much cover about. I can only assume they're heading for the mountain caves." She said as she started walking again. Okay, so she had lied, there was a small amount of cover, there was also a rocky bank just in front of them. As she ascended she kept her head low as a fresh wave of feline scent hit the roof of her mouth. She motioned for Ryker to come slowly. The darkness of the night would help hide them and also helped out Ashton and Alex but through the gloom she could make out two shapes slowly moving. At this point she had tucked her wings close into her back and her crest of feathers lay as flat as it could against her head.

She moved slowly, keeping low, thanking her wings for providing slightly lift off of the ground to keep her steps quiet. She made it to the next rocky outcrop and could get a better view of the two males. They were talking and she could make out a few words in the silence of the night, they were talking about moving during the day or not. Hoping that they might both escape. Her tail had been drawn close around her legs to ensure it didn't stick out. She could only hope that Ryker did his best to keep low as well, otherwise they might be in for a chase. At this distance she didn't know if she could catch them by running, meaning that flying would be her best option, something she was fine with but then again it could be quite tiring at times.

Zach rubbed his forehead gently, massaging it slightly. Oh gosh... Oh gosh... What could she do when I fall asleep? Is she one of them? Would she take me where ever they did to change me? He looked over at the girls body. "I see you lying next to me... With words I thought I'd never speak... Awake and unafraid? Asleep or dead?"

The hybrid mumbled the lyrics to himself, his head dipping slightly, another wave of thoughts washing over his previous ones. Wow... I'll never hear new music... I wont know if bands break up or reform... He glanced back at the girl before gazing back up to the sky, eyes welling slightly. "Why us? What have we done?"

Zach glared at the stars, but his gaze softened when he heard her reply to his question. A tear escaped the well in his eyes and trickled down his cheek, which he quickly wiped away, not wanting to show weakness. "But why us... Why not their own children, cousins, relatives... Why not people they knew... What makes us any different... Any undeserving..." The boy sat up, crossing his legs. He reached behind his back and unfurled his crumpled red shirt.

He pulled it around himself, the arms crossing over his chest. It was then that Zach felt it to be almost cuddling him - an action he couldn't stand - and so he shrugged it off as another tear leaked. "They could've at least picked on people their own size."

Anna had no answers for Zach's questions. She didn't know why they had chosen them instead of someone else, or why they would do this to children and teenagers instead of someone older who volunteered, not that Anna could really imagine someone volunteering to put themselves through this. She just knew that they were here and for some reason, the scientists had chosen them for their experiments. Anna didn't understand or know how or why they had been chosen out of all the other people they could have chosen. The hybrid remained silent, not really sure how to respond. She just continued to gaze at the stars, her mind full of thoughts and questions that had come from the conversation. All she really knew was that they were here now, had been given animal DNA, and that they needed to find a way to survive in the hot desert.

Anna sat there for a moment, noticing how silent it was. She hesitated, knowing that she should say something, but not sure what. "I dont know," she whispered after a moment, not knowing what else to say or how to reply to Zach's questions. The conversation had caused her to start thinking about her home, her friends and family, and everything that she had lost because of the scientists and what they had done to her. The thoughts instantly began to make her sad and homesick, so Anna tried to think of something else, trying to keep her thoughts away from the subject. She wished that there was something they could do, some way, to escape from this place, change things back to normal, but there wasn't. Anna used her arms to push herself up into a sitting position, and she sat there, staring off into space for a few seconds. She wanted to say something, change the subject, find something else to talk about, but she couldn't think of anything. The subject was starting to make her feel uncomfortable. "So...tomorrow the plan is to find water and start heading towards the mountains, right?" the hybrid asked. Anna hoped Zach wouldn't mind the change in subject.

Zach wiped his eyes dry and just listened. That was all he could do. He listened to whatever carried on the wind, he listened to her voice, he just listened. He took in every sound, little emotion showing on his face, not that he knew of anyone who would have seen it in the midst of the darkness. Upon hearing a change of subject, he was glad. Zach's brain tended to overwork if conversations were held on the same subject for an extended period of time. That was why he was either switching topics like the wind changing direction or simply silent.

"I guess. And searching for food. That's all we can do for now I think." His response was assisted by an awkward voice crack, causing his voice to be fairly deep and a tad scratchy for a short while in the middle of a sentence. The teen coughed a few times, attempting to clear his throat and eventually succeeding. He thought he heard a faint giggle or some other variation of muffled laughter, but he shrugged it off to be another wind-carried noise. Zach rubbed his eyes sleepily, which summoned a memory of him as a boy staring at the door, a bedraggled looking deer plush lazily held in one hand at his side and they other rubbing at his eyes. Although the hybrid couldn't put a date to the memory, he guessed it had been one of the nights his parents had left. He quickly hid the memory to the back of his mind, attempting to forget about the occasion once more.

Zyr followed closely behind, keeping her weight on the balls of her feet, and took note of how painfully slow they were moving. Maybe raising her voice to warn of that cactus would have benefitted her after all. Moving up the steep trail was difficult enough without being able to see, let alone having a foot full of thin spines. Maybe she’d make it up somehow, but nonchalantly.
Suddenly Emily spoke up with a warning of her own, and the feline flicked her ears forward to listen. No, she was definitely not immune to any sort of venom, as far as she knew; the only snakes she’d encountered were forest-dwellers, rarely poisonous, but she did admit the spiders were nasty. Nothing like a tarantula or a scorpion, though. With the conclusion of the tale, she shuffled her feet back a small bit from the crevice she was using as a foothold. One impaired foot was enough, thank you.
The last hints of sunlight caught the flint, and Zyr squinted against the quick flash to her eyes.
“Mm, sure.” She leaned over and collected handfuls of it quickly as possible, handing it over once she figured it was sufficient enough. The girl wouldn’t admit it, but the temperature had dropped more than she’d have thunk possible since she woke up - the heat of a fire would be more than welcome, and would help the bird actually be able to see things. A win for all, then.
“So this is the… shelter? It’s hardly even a cave. If it rains, you’re getting drenched.”
