Aubrey obediently listened to Landon's orders, relieved that he had been the responsible one and taken matters into his own hands. And she was also glad that he would at least attempt to listen to her. Aubrey left the row of books that she had been hovering over and approached the other three. However, Aubrey made a beeline for Landon. Her expression was tentative, but inside, she was relieved. They probably had the best chance of making some headway, at least compared to the other two. "So I don't have a sure idea yet," Aubrey began, tapping her head. "But I was thinking, of course. If you really think about it, we're kind of already where the book wants us to be. Now, that's obviously not correct. The orb thing wants us to be where the earth meets the sky. That doesn't necessarily mean a body of water." She explained, slowing down ever so slightly at the end. She hoped Landon would understand where she was going with her lead. Aubrey knew that this place probably wasn't the prophecy's idea, but the idea of land had buzzed her thoughts too. Water wasn't exactly helpful. What bodies of water did they know? Of course, Aubrey doubted herself, but she could at least act confident. The place where the earth meets the sky could be a number of things. It could be a place on land. That was far too vague, but perhaps a start. "You understand, right?" Aubrey questioned, her tone sounding a bit desparate. She figured what's-her-face and Elliot would probably follow the water lead, so why not follow her own gut as well? "Unless you have any other ideas." The young witch added quickly.
Aubrey looked around at all the books, but nothing struck her as important. Granted, in a library this large, every book had to have some sort of meaning, but nothing could apply. Aubrey attempted to focus on other lines in the prophecy. 'Friend and enemy, good and evil, life and death.' What in the world could that mean? There had to be an upcoming enemy. But did they mean actual? As far as Aubrey could tell, no one really liked each other. They hadn't been together very long and they were starting to get on each other's nerves. That was silly, though. They couldn't possibly be the enemy.

ravenclaw | quidditch captain and chaser | sixth year | seventeen >>>Landon watched anxiously as he observed the reactions of the other three. Elliot looked a little upset, which was strange because it was only logical that he would go with her. He was the only one who hadn't argued with her the whole day. Queer, particularly due to the fact that he was a Slytherin. If anything, he would have been the one to start a fight, if he had kept to his stereotype. Still, Landon supposed that he had grown tired of Carrie, just like everyone else had. He then turned to the said girl and analysed her reaction. Carrie seemed the most disinterested, which was exactly as he had expected. She never reacted to anything he had said, or anyone had said, so it wasn't that big of a surprise that she just took his words and threw it aside. He watched as Elliot joined her and the duo walked off, presumably to the lake where "the earth met the sky". He turned his attention back to Aubrey, who he was glad to be stuck with. Or at least as glad as he could be considering he was stuck there - wherever 'there' was.
Aubrey walked towards him and began speaking. He listened, of course, as he always did, and as he listened his mind was whirling and working. The earth meets the sky? He nodded when she finished, but remained quiet for a moment, which was probably what caused her to ask if he understood. It was a little annoying that she asked that, considering how he was supposed to be the intelligent one and he had understood everything. He never liked it when people undermined his intellect. "Of course I understand," he replied, slightly more curt than he had hoped. "What I mean to say is, I don't think we should be focusing on that part. The note in the book said to look for the hoard right? Well, I still stand by my idea of one of the storerooms. I'm sure there's something magical hidden there," he continued, trying to make amends for his harsh tone, as well as veering the conversation to the part he thought they should focus on.

caroline magnolia joseph - gryffindor - curious and skeptical about the whole mess
████████████████████████
Science definitely goes hand in hand with skepticism. But magic? Magic users have to be able to trust that magic, invisible and grand as it is, will be there. Carrie, while obviously being a magic user, wasn't raised in a household with much trust in the stuff because of her witch mother's relationships always being with muggles. She learned the distrustful, curious ways of muggles and hasn't quite shaken some of her old tendencies despite trying to immerse herself in wizard culture.
Due to that, there was something deep in her mind nagging at her to question more and not take the first assumption as an answer. Taking all of what her companion brought up into account, Carrie thought over her next proposition before presenting it verbally. "Sure, yeah that's a good place to start. But, what's the point of starting at all if we don't really even know where we are. You see, the fact that it's dirty is what's throwing me off. I mean, where are all the students? You'd think that a school accommodating children would go to great lengths to keep their grounds clean. That doesn't seem to be the case here..." She pouts and turns the corner, met by another filthy corridor. Carrie's mind is racing but all she wants to be able to do now is curl up and think about absolutely nothing. "Honestly, I don't know much about Hogwarts history. Despite that, all of this seems quite sketchy to me. If it is really the past, then it must be very far back into the past... Either that or I'm over thinking things."

Aubrey, at first, was taken aback by Landon's attitude. But she couldn't exactly blame him - the three of them weren't helping with their pointless bickering. "I suppose. We can go there now, that is, if we can actually find them." Nothing popped into her mind when storerooms was said. Nada, absolutely blank. She had always thought of the Room of Requirement. She had to admit, though, storerooms was a good idea. But what could possibly be in the storerooms that would be of value to them? Those usually had worthless junk. "Or maybe a bank of the sorts. Gringotts, I don't know." Her tone was blunt, and more so, annoyed. Money could always be seen as some sort of hoard, right? If someone was hoarding money. Aubrey glared at the ground, even more frustrated with herself than with Landon. She brushed her hair from her shoulders as she tried to figure out what the heck storerooms would be hoarding that would be somewhat helpful. Probably just some old books and equiptment, stuff that should not be used. "But what could possibly be down there that we could actually use. As far as I know, storerooms are called store rooms for a reason." Aubrey countered, raising a quizzical eyebrow. "I mean, it's a good idea as far as the hoarding." But she supposed she would just have to go along with Landon for the ride, it would probably end up better for the two of them, as long as they didn't argue too much. Aubrey looked around the dark library for a door and could just barely spot one. "They'd be down a level, yes?" She asked him. Aubrey rubbed her hands against the sides of her thighs as her hands were beginning to sweat, something that really only happened if she were nervous or on edge, unsure of something.

ravenclaw | quidditch captain and chaser | sixth year | seventeen >>>Landon tried to maintain a stoic expression as he inwardly calmed himself down. He was still on edge with the bickering. It didn't help, and even with Carrie gone, her influence was still there. But no. He wouldn't let himself be ruled by emotion, especially emotion which she had caused. "I didn't mean to sound rude," he said in an attempt at an apology, his tone much softer than before. Especially to you, he wanted to add, before he stopped himself. That would be weird. Really weird. But he understood the compulsion. It was because he was confused and starting to feel afraid, and worse - desperate. The need for comfort in times of despair - he'd learnt that from reading a psychology book when he was still in his second year. But he was aware of what his instinct was, so he could fight it. He wouldn't let emotions control him. "You're right," he told her after a moment of silent thinking. "I'm only focusing on the hoard part of the riddle. There's still the reward part, which makes Gringotts a more realistic option. Money - people earn that as reward for hard work, and Gringotts has a whole store of it. But...I think it's too far. We should stay here. In Hogwarts. Near Elliot and Carrie, in case they find something." He frowned and tapped his finger against his chin - a habit of his when he was thinking deeply. There has to be something he was missing. "Maybe there's a small vault inside Hogwarts so they don't have to keep travelling to and from London. Or maybe there's another place keeping more than just money." He nearly suggested the store room again, but he forced himself to think. Think, Landon! You're in Ravenclaw for a reason. Think bigger. Stop being so narrow-minded. "Another type of reward. Not money, but-" He stopped himself abruptly. Of course...how could he have missed it before. He turned to Aubrey and looked at her with bright eyes. "A prize. A trophy."

Aubrey blinked a few times, her mind trying to wrap itself around what Landon was saying. "Yes!" She nodded, coming to an understanding. Finally - it took right long enough. When Landon said that, it was as if a huge weight had been released from her shoulders. Aubrey didn't quite know why - perhaps it was because they had finally come to a logical conclusion. "You reckon it has a lot of value, then? Perhaps it's being saved for some sort of big event, maybe like this." Aubrey inquired, knitting her eyebrows. And what the prophecy had told them made it seem like what they had to do was significant enough. It was a very good assumption - a trophy. But the next thing that the group would have to figure out is where the heck a trophy would be, and how it would be of use to them. It could have something to do with the earth touches the sky, but Aubrey decided it wouldn't be a good idea to mention that. "Speaking of those two," She spoke crossly, her mood going sour and her tone bitter. Her face even clouded over at the mention of Carrie and Elliot. "Think we should let 'em know? Just so they won't be going on a wild goose chase." She turned her head in the direction of the two, almost chuckling at the idea of the two of them being the slightest productive. However, Aubrey had to give Carrie some credit. She had been the one that had spoken up the most, whether it be for better or for worse. "We should leave the library if we're going to go hunting around Hogwarts. And then we'll definitely have to let them know, so I guess..." Aubrey trailed off, coming to a slow defeat. Personally, she just wanted to keep the juicy information to herself, but she knew that Landon would most likely be against it.
