Quinn-16-Shadow Manipulation

Quinn followed, nodding at "Smith." They walked for a while before coming into camp. It didn't seem like there were many people around, but she doubted they were just up and walking around. They were probably out doing useful things, such as finding food and clothes and whatnot. She didn't doubt it. She eyed the other newcomers, but nodded to them so as to not seem rude. Ricky nudged her lightly and shook his head, as if saying, Don't get too involved. She nodded back and focused her blue eyes on the ground. She didn't know what to do. She stood awkwardly, waiting for Santiago to tell them where to go or what to do.

Ricky-16-Shadow Manipulation

Ricky followed Quinn's example. He glanced to the ground, shifting his feet. For a moment his eyes flitted up to meet the other newcomer's eyes. They were just as shaken up. It seemed like thwy had barely made it out of the lab, but he wouldnt truat easily. It wasnt in his nature, or Quinn's. They grew up watching friends turn on each other to survive in the labs. He was glad je was never put up against Quinn, though. He wouldnt have been able to hurt her. They had been friends for too long. But he didnt know what she wouldve done. He glanced at her momentarily, then his eyes darted to the ground once more.

{ Rhianna Fruend

Postby gallifrey falls. » Wed Mar 11, 2015 10:05 am

rhianna - scientists - cryokenisis and power sensing - tagged; adelaide, quinn, riley - ooc; ---

xxxRhianna smirked at Adelaide's sarcasm; they both despised Rick, or 'Ricky', as they sometimes liked to call him, equally, and neither were fond of the superior tone he always used when speaking with them. She had been tempted to give him rather nasty frostbite in painful places on more than one occasion, but didn't want to find herself on the run like the other escapees. At least, not yet. And not without some sort of backup plan, and backup in general.
xxxConversation was soon audible, coming from one of the paths leading into the forest, and Rhianna saw four individuals coming towards them, two younger and two older. Her attention covertly switched to the two younger rebels; they would be easier to capture in general, though it did depend on their powers to a certain degree. Both of the older two, both men, looked sturdy and both or one of them was most likely the leader of this pocket of resistance, it would be costly to remove such an important figure, or figures. She gasped for breath as Adelaide pointed out the four, and her eyes widened, nodding along with her partner's story. "Yes - I'm sorry - but the scientists -" she stopped when one of the men spoke, gently, telling them they were safe. Rhianna managed a shaky smile, touching Adelaide's arm, an expression of relief on her face. "We made it, Addy. These people are like us."
xxxThe two younger members of the group, a boy and a girl, kept their heads down and didn't meet anyone else's eyes. Rhianna saw a flash of a tattoo on the girl's arm before she shifted, hiding it from sight. A 'C' had been all she was able to read, but it told her enough. The girl's powers weren't all that spectacular, merely out of the ordinary. Shadow manipulation, she could tell, after a moment of concentration. Rhianna switched her gaze before her interest would become to obvious, but she had already decided that was the one she and Adelaide would go for.

(I made another character, his name is Austin Carter. You can see his form on the discussion thread.)

Quinn-16-Shadow Manipulation

Quinn glanced up just in time to see one of the girls look away from her. She nudged Ricky. Talk to Santiago. Maybe he needs us to do something. She looked around for a minute. The place was decent, for a rebel camp. At least, she thought so. She hadn't seen one. They had just broken out of the lab. She glanced over at Ricky as he spoke to Santiago, then went back to looking around. The huts were stone, meaning they kept out wind and rain. The place held a lot of people, meaning that if they were to get attacked, they could all fight back. It didn't seem to hard.

Ricky-16-Shadow Manipulatiom

Ricky sighed when Quinn nudged him to talk to Santiago. He walked over to him, glancing back at Quinn every few seconds. He wouldn't let her out of his sight until they knew the place was safe. Santiago, Quinn and I wanted to know where we needed to be. Like, jobs, or a hut of ours or something, I guess. I'm not sure how you work everything around here. He ran a hand through his hair. He wasn't use to this. It was nice to have freedom, but he didn't know what to do with it. He felt like he needed to be running in some maze or fighting against another rebel that the scientists thought would be a good match for him. He looked back at Quinn again, then beck to Santiago.

Austin-19-Shape-shifting/Empathy

Austin looked around the dense forest. There want much to see, Jed been here a million times in search of food. He often came out her to hunt, seeing as the place he had holed up wasn't far off. There was always a town he could go to to buy food, but he liked shifting even when there wasn't an actual reason. Besides, saving up money would allow him to start blending, wouldn't it? He shrugged, mumbling to himself. Sure, he missed the human interaction at times, but at other times he just wanted to be left alone.

{santiago || rebels || terrakinesis, minor healing || tagged; ricky, quinn, rhianna}

With one last reproachful look at Santiago, Smith walked back through the camp and into a quite centrally-placed hut and disappeared from sight. He glanced suspiciously between Adelaide and Rhianna as he went.

Santiago didn't watch him go. Bringing the group closer together, he first addressed all four teenagers. "Every time you go out, be back before evening. Keep things around camp as calm - and quiet - as possible. Sort out your problems with words, not fists."

Then, to Ricky and Quinn; "There's a spare room over that way, it should fit both of you comfortably. You can rest for now, jobs for tomorrow will be sorted out tonight, and, as soon as I'm done here we'll see about food and blankets." He pointed towards a cluster of the small stone buildings - they were all squat and grey, barely shaped like huts, and amidst smaller one-person ones stood a slightly larger one. As they went, Santiago turned to the two newcomers. He tried to hide his frustration but a grimace twisted his lips, and he roughly raked a hand through his unruly hair. In the back of his mind he noticed something off about the way one of the girls studied Quinn, but it was drowned out by more pressing worries - like feeding everyone for the rest of the week.

"Right. You two. You've come at a bit of a bad time, but it's not like the extra hands won't be helpful. I'm Santiago, the leader and healer of this camp. The man that was with me earlier is Smith, a brick s***house." His comment attempted to inject some humor into his tone, but fell a bit short. With a short, sharp exhale he drew himself to his full height. His vertebrae cracked noisily as they aligned properly, and he winced. "Same deal. You can share the room those two just occupied, nothing for you today, blankets and food will be sorted out soon. What're your names, what can you do?"

---

{adelaide || scientists || teleportation, enhanced strength || tagged; rhianna, ricky, quinn}

Adelaide's first reaction was disbelief - there was no way this would be so easy, but it was. The relief she showed in reaction to Rhianna's comment was genuine, if for different reasons than the others assumed.

Before she had time to make any kind of contact with Rhianna, Santiago came closer and laid out the rules, gave the other two instructions. She didn't really listen, but perked up when he mentioned they were in hard times. Surely that meant this pocket of resistance would fall soon. They could stop all this chasing around - maybe she could get out, have a proper life somewhere.

Somehow that didn't seem likely. What even was a 'proper life'? What experience did she have of 'proper' beyond fictional depictions on television shows?

With a start, she realized she'd been asked a question. "I'm Addy-... Adelaide. I, um, this." Still feigning the type of coyness she assumed this brusque man would expect from a 17 year old girl, she took a timid step back and flickered out of existence, in the same instant appearing a few meters away. It was made to appear a lot more difficult than it usually was - she drew out the amount of time it took her to fade in, her image twisting and blinking violently before settling. Rhianna gave her answer, her demonstration, and Adelaide watched her intently. There was a C on the inside of her arm - what letter did her partner have? She realized she wanted to know - surely she should have been told, being put with her and all.

Then, they were dismissed. To the same room as their target, if she'd read Rhianna's pointed look correctly. A bit stunned, she waited for Santiago to stride off before she walked alongside Rhianna to their new 'home'.

"Can you believe this?" There, a phrase which would be equally applicable to either of their situation, real or pretend.

Quinn-16-Shadow Manipulation

Quinn sat down on the small cot. There were two others in the hut, and when the other two girls walked in, she knew they'd be sharing a room. It made her rather uneasy, being in the same 1-roomed house as them. Something about them was off. But then again, maybe she was just too worked up. She moved so she could lay on her back and stare up at the brick ceiling. I wonder how long this has been here.. Did Santiago and Smith build it, or had it always been here? She shrugged and tilted her head to look at an already asleep Ricky. Or.. More like half-asleep, as he kept glancing in her direction. She wondered how long he would be like this. Protective and loyal. She loved him to death, as a friend of course, but she could take care of herself. She looked at the two girls who seemed to be speaking to each other by the front of the hut. She sighed and rolled over, trying to get comfy. She knew it would be a long night. She was uneasy and jumpy, and that's probably how it'd be for a while.

Ricky-16-Shadow Manipulation

Ricky lay in his own cot, not far from Quinn's. She was tossing and turning. He knew she would be until things settled down. He was determined to keep her safe though. They had been through a lot together. Escaping from the lab had been an accomplishment, of course, but it had been tiring. He glanced at the hut's opening to see the two girls. He wondered how they had escaped. Had it been simple for them, or just as hard as it had been for he and Quinn?

(Austin is open.)

rhianna - scientists - cryokenisis and power sensing - tagged; adelaide, quinn, riley, santiago - ooc; I gave Rhianna an A, I hope that doesn't seem to powerful to anyone? I assume Santiago would have one as well, with geokenisis, as would anyone with the other two elements - wind and fire.

xxxRhianna watched as man, Smith, as Santiago named him, walked off, but not before giving her and Adelaide a rather suspicious glance. It seemed they would have to tread carefully around him. He assigned the other two their hut, and laid out the rules for the camp. Santiago turned to them a moment later, similarly assigning them a hut, and telling them duties would start tomorrow.
xxxShe almost smiled when he asked her to describe what she could do, but kept it suppressed; two girls in the situation that she and her partner were in weren't going to be exactly chipper. Play the part, Rhianna, she reminded herself. Unlike Adelaide, she did show off her full skill, and didn't dim it down in order to install a false sense of security. Adelaide was just as capable as her in capturing their quarries, and if the rebels were focused on her, they wouldn't be watching her partner as closely. She extended a hand, a mere formality, of course, causing the temperature to drop sharply, sending the three of them into subzero temperatures, and then back up again, just as quickly. Frost gathered on her eyelashes, and snow began to fall in large flakes, dusting the already frosty ground. A moment later, she stopped, allowing the snow and frost to melt in the now normal temperatures. Still, Rhianna kept gentle air about her, and gave Santiago another hesitant smile. "Cryokenisis, and my name is Rhianna," she said quietly, her shyness evident in her tone.
xxxAfter their dismissal, Rhianna followed in the wake of Adelaide, assuming she already knew their target from her earlier look. xxxUnconsciously, she rubbed at the 'A385', tattooed on her left wrist, previously hidden by the sleeve of her sweatshirt. Nodding in response to the question, she glanced around quickly to make sure they were alone. Confirming this, she allowed herself a smirk, a look of triumph on her face. "It's a little hard to believe, you've got that right." A laugh escaped her. "Honestly, it's like shooting fish in a barrel. Not surprising, that they've fallen on hard times. I mean, being this trusting? Maybe we'll finish up sooner than I thought."
xxxShe fell silent when they came in hearing distance of the hut, changing her voice to the gentle mummer she had spoken in before. "I hope we'll be able to make a home here," she told Adelaide, before stepping inside. The other two were already in their cots, and appeared to be sleeping. Heading to a pair on the other side of it, she lay down, whispering, "Goodnight," to Adelaide, before rolling over, staring at the wall on the other side of her.

{santiago || rebels || terrakinesis, minor healing || tagged; xx}

With the formalities over, Santiago finally returned to his own room, it's familiar clutter immensely comforting to him all of a sudden. He fell heavily onto his cot, glancing at the book he couldn't pay attention to that morning. There was no way he'd be able to distract himself now. Instead, he rummaged through a stack of papers and found the book containing the description of their current inventory.

Though they were fine on water - between everyone's abilities, purifying water from a nearby stream was no problem - food was running exceptionally low. The town he'd referred to earlier was an exaggeration on his part - it was a convenience store, a bus station and a petrol station. Sometimes someone wandered out there and stole a few candy bars, hygiene products, whatever else they had of interest... but he couldn't keep twenty-four people alive with chocolate.

Apparently out to the north there was another group. If they were in a similar position, he couldn't imagine them agreeing to join together. He couldn't bring anything to the table but mouths to feed.

An all-out offensive was out of the question. The enforcers were incredibly heavily armed, not to mention many had powers of their own, and all amongst the higher grades.

They'd have to move. Were they still monitored? In his head he considered the bigger cities - which they could hide in, which they should avoid. How would he move twenty-four people without raising suspicion?

---

{adelaide || scientists || teleportation, enhanced strength || tagged; rhianna, ricky, quinn}

Adelaide mirrored the triumphant look in Rhianna's eyes with a grin of her own. 'Trusting' was as apt as it could get - perhaps the man, Santiago, put a little too much faith in the goodwill of others. Which worked out exceedingly well for them, so who was she to complain? Silenced by fear of being overheard, she didn't voice this, but said instead, "We're lucky, that's for sure."

Inside the hut, 'Rhi' voiced her wish to make a home. Adelaide grinned to herself - the image of Rhianna willingly settling down anywhere was really quite funny to her. At the same time, the statement made her feel subdued, somehow, like heaviness in the pit of her stomach. She swallowed, the smile dropping from her lips, and shook the thought from her mind. There was a part to play. "Me too, Rhi," she murmured back.

As Rhianna feigned sleep, Adelaide turned her voice towards Ricky and Quinn. "Hey, you two," she began, injecting friendliness into her tone. "Um, like I said, I'm Addy. Hopefully we can get along?" She hoped she sounded the right amount of hopeful. "After all, we're roomies, right?"

(so, i'm gonna head to sleep now - as you can see those posts are pretty bad and there's no more creativity left in me c; gallifrey, i think an A rating is fairly fair, after all those powers are pretty lethal)

Quinn-16-Shadow Manipulation

Quinn sat up. The light was barely coming through the front door. It was probably only around 6 am. She glanced over at a slwwping Ricky and then the other two girls.She took a deep breath and got up, walking outside. It was fairly warm. It felt good. She sat down against a tree angled so it was facing the sun and smiled. She leaned her head back and closed her eyes. It was quiet. It was her, waking up on her own. Not to the sounds of the lab. She didn't have to go back. She wouldn't go back. No one could force her or make her. She could be happy and helpful here. No more running, no more crying and just barely making it through the day. This was her first chance at true freedom. She took a deep breath, smiling at the smell and taste of fresh air.

Desmond aka Axis-Scientists-Electricity/Metal manipulation-Tags: Open
    Desmond stared off unblinking as he felt the prick of the needle in his arm followed by the familiar pain of the thick serum as it was plunged in. When he was younger he used to fight and cry as he desperately tried to avoid the shot but anymore it was a pointless endeavor. When the needle was removed he sat there for some time staring off at the wall as the familiar drowsiness began to creep over him. He hated the tired feeling he always seemed to have but then again what could he do? The tick tick tick sound of the clock echoed through the thick silence.
    The sound of a door opening followed by the muffled thud of footsteps against the linoleum pulled Desmond from his trance. The male shifted his gaze towards the unfamiliar stranger, a man dressed in a suit carrying a file of papers. "Ah Axis I've heard so much about you. It's a pleasure to finally meet you" the man said peering over top of the file as he read through it. "I bet you're wondering why I'm here? Well let's not waste any time and get down to it shall we?" the man said in a robotic tone as he took a seat across from Desmond. "Now I am part of a very important group, outside of the scientists and I have been sent here to enlist your help. We are offering you a freedom of sorts in exchange for completing a few tasks for us. Of course if you should so accept then it would still be required that you continue your injections." the man said lacing his fingers together as he waited for Desmond to respond.
    Desmond eyed the stranger curiously as he heard his offer. This seems to good to be true...it has to be a trick... he thought staring at the man. "What kind of tasks?" he asked rather gruffly. "Oh simple things. Unlike the scientists we wish to create... humm how should I phrase this? An army of sorts. We simply need you to be part of that army...a leader I suppose. We need to find more people like you...the strongest ones with a determination to match, to fill our ranks. We simply need you to find those people for us and destroy those who would oppose us. Don't worry about catching the ones who you feel would make a valuable addition...we can handle that. Are you up to the task?" he asked. A sly grin crossed Desmond's face at the man's words. "Anything to get out of here" he replied coolly.
    ~Some time later~
    After having completed his meeting with the strange man and received all of his necessary equipment Desmond was set free. Tugging his backpack closer to his back the male made his way into the wooded forest ready to begin his mission. It was clear by his clothes he was quite out of place in this environment but then again he really didn't care. A short sleeved gray t-shirt, leather jacket, blue jeans, and boots made up his attire. Hidden beneath his sleeves were two metal bracers which formed nicely around his forearms. He doubted there would be much metal out in the middle of no where so why not bring his own especially when it only amplified his electrical powers as a conductor.

Austin-19-Shifter/Empathy

Austin stopped walking. Something was wrong. He could sense emotion with his empathy power, but it just seemed like everything had been.. Sapped. The birds and crickets had gone silent. He couldn't see anyone, or hear anyone at the moment, but he knew something was off. He sat for a moment, contemplating what to do. He'd always noticed around scientists that they wouldn't ever have any emotion, as though they had been taught to block out all signs and feelings. His mind sent him hurtling back for a moment.

Austin sat in a large cage, watching several scientists work. At the time, he was 12. He couldn't sense any kind of emotion. Not a bit. Several scientists watched him close sly, observing him, he knew. Suddenly a door opened, and everyone's head turned, including his. A female scientist walked in. She was looking at her paperwork. Everything was silent. He could hear the other scientists hearts speed up, and their breath cease. She looked up, meeting his gaze...and screamed. The emotions hit his head like a bullet. He remembered falling over, screaming for someone to make it stop, covering his ears like a child getting yelled at. Suddenly the female scientist fell to the floor, limp. A man behind her held a needle. Some sort of sleeping medication, it seemed. But once they took her from the room, she never came back. It was as though she had ceased to exist. The scientists went back to their routine, but his reaction to her sharp blast of emotion caught their attention. For a few years they brought in what he assumed to be scientists, but he could sense their feelings, unlike the others. And once the experiment on him was done, he never saw them again.

Austin's breathing had increased quickly. Was there a sciwntist in the area, or maybe someone who workes for them. He drew a sharp intake of breath, hoping to calm himself down. He wasnt afraid, but he was worried. He didnt know what he was up againat. Moat of the time the scientists "co-working mutants" were classes A and B. He was an A, as well, but he still couldnt bear the thought of going back.
