LEGOLAS GREENLEAF

fandom: Lord of the Rings || feeling: curious || tags: Killua

As Legolas spoke, he could see the human observing him thoughtfully, absorbing the information he was being given. From what he had discerned of the boy so far, the elf was now certain that there was more to the lad behind his extravagant gestures and quicksilver words; he was certainly more mature than he let on, though why the boy kept his maturity from him, Legolas didn't know. When the human relinquished his name, he emphasized his introduction with a smirk and a lavish bow. By now Legolas had become somewhat accustomed to this "Killua's" eccentric mannerisms and only really noticed the expectant look the youth shot him after introducing himself; it was almost as if Killua had expected the elf to recognize the title, but all Legolas could do was give a sheepish half-smile in apology.

"Infamous to the point in which I've never heard of you or your family," he murmured, half to himself. And - Kukuroo Mountain? 'English'? The name 'Kukuroo' was odd and certainly wasn't Elvish, as most of the names in Middle-earth were, and he couldn't recall a specific area within the any of Arda's mountain ranges that had even a similar title; then again, by now Legolas had deduced that it was extremely improbable for this strange human to have hailed from any place Legolas was familiar with. As for this English, he could chance a guess that it was a language of some sort coming from Killua's world, but as Legolas glanced up at a sign hanging over a nearby building, the English runes, if they could even be considered runes, were strangely shaped and unfamiliar to him. Having always been well-educated ever since he was an elfling, this feeling of unfamiliarity was foreign to him, but he supposed that he would have to learn to adapt.

He inwardly shook himself free of these thoughts and said, more clearly, "It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Killua, of the house of Zoldyck." He gave a (albeit more reserved) slight bow of his own, bringing his right hand to his heart in the traditional elven salute. He then straightened and his mouth turned upwards in a wry grin. "What a pair the two of us must look," he quipped, "considering how we both have no idea of our whereabouts." He was then struck by a sudden inspiration, and before he knew it he was inquiring, "Perhaps the two of us may travel together? I had been planning on exploring this new area and must admit to wondering as to what has taken place, here." His expression turned solemn as he gave a dark glance at the piles of rubble surrounding them, as well as the rotting corpses sprawled haphazardly in every corner.

There should be no harm in travelling with him, Legolas thought. If danger lingers here, it would be good to watch each other's backs.

Killua was annoyed. And frustrated. Perhaps a 60-40 split. Ever since he entered this post apocalyptic wasteland, the optimistic side of him that had blossomed under Gon's vibrant companionship had held on to a glimmering hope that maybe, just maybe, he was still in his world. That Gon was being his irrational, illogical, immature self somewhere over the blood-tinted horizon.

Of course, true to the Law of Things Never Go Your Way, this hope was swiftly dispelled by the elf's tepid response to his name. Killua didn't lightly gift his last name to people - he had numerous enemies that would tear the world asunder just to take a stab at petty revenge.

He couldn't control his dejected sigh, hanging his head low for a brief moment before perking up at the elf's pleasant tone. "I suppose it's nice to meet you too." He couldn't help but punctuate this with a laugh at being welcomed and referred to as "of the house of Zoldyck." It inferred more honor than he or his family would ever deserve, really.

Some gut instinct - no, it was probably his inability to consistently keep up the charade - told Killua his childish act was only partially effective. Partially, as he reckoned, was more than good enough, as long as it lessened any suspicions about him. So he sheepishly ran his hand through the back of his snowy hair and grinned, milking it for all he was worth.

Now, time to throw the guy for a loop. Killua might as well entertain himself. "Sure! My best guess is some sort of biological hazard, followed by rioting, looting, martial law, and other fun stuff." He blinked owlishly and held a finger to the corner of his lips as if in deep thought. "I wonder if there are any sweets left. Say, Legolas-chan, do you think we could find some sweets around here?"

With a jaunty whistle, he turned on his heel and walked in a random direction, beckoning over his shoulder for Legolas to follow him.
